In my experience, Autocraft Bodywerks is not equipped to work on Teslas. After Central Texas's May 2024 hailstorm, my Tesla Y needed major body repair. I went against my better judgment and brought it to Autocraft Bodywerks instead of the Tesla Collision Center; the former had a shorter wait time. The San Marcos shop had my car for *four months* before returning it to me with a slew of problems, mainly an audibly loud wind noise coming from the passenger side, and both right side doors and the trunk not closing without being slammed. The South Austin location then attempted to remedy their sister shop's work (they did manage to repair some of the interior damage that was caused by the San Marcos shop - thank you for that, Tammie), but they did not fix the wind noise or the doors, and in fact there are now two additional external problems - one being the frunk/hood not being properly aligned and the other involving the trunk. It appears that they do not know what they are doing. I don't know how else to summarize my experience. Unfortunately, my insurance paid them upfront and now I'm left with a vehicle that doesn't function properly. I do not recommend bringing your Tesla to them. I've included some photos to illustrate their workmanship and attention to detail:

I was going to wait until after I took my bmw back to get the repairs done correctly, but I am just done with this place and figured I should let everyone know the truth because the reviews I'm seeing are shocking with what my car looks like. To start, I called around in feb 2023 after I hit a deer asking about body shops being bmw certified. This place said they were, so I chose to have my car towed here since berli's was 6 weeks out before even being able to take my car. I'll summarize so I don't bore you - my car was here for 5 months. Now a month of that it was at bmw, so before someone replies that it was at bmw too, this place had my car for 4 MONTHS!!! zero communication, even after speaking with Richard the manager, no communication and when there was any it was because they were waiting for State Farm to approve while at bmw. If my car was at this place I did not hear from anyone. When my car was at bmw I went to look at it, I immediately called Daniel at autocraft and told him the spacing on my hood and doors was unacceptable. He assured me this would be taken care of. It wasn't. In fact when I picked it up I was told it was the best they could do. Fast forward to me picking it up- I'll just attach some pictures for everyone's reference. The best part is I called to speak to Richard again and asked to see the bmw certification and it was at this time when my insurance company already paid out over $30k that I was informed that they were in fact not bmw certified. Car was dirty inside as well and very dusty. Looked as though my seat was sitting in the body shop just chilling during the whole time. I still get to take it back and have them repair it which pains me to no end because I know it will not look any better. These people are extremely dishonest and do not care about getting your car back to "showroom" standards as they claim. Take your car anywhere but here. RESPONSE TO OWNER The fact that the first time I'm hearing from you is on Yelp says a lot. Your employees did in fact tell me on multiple occasions that you were BMW certified. I asked when I initially called, throughout the time my car was there, and after. I have multiple emails and texts stating that the communication was nonexistent. I can attach if you'd like? And you're correct I haven't brought my car back yet. It had to go back to BMW twice for issues that were not repaired and will be taken back to you once those are done which is exactly what I told Richard. The fact that I even have to bring it back is just not right considering you guys had it for the length of time you did. You seem to not be bothered by that which again says a lot. I will bring the deductible payment when my car is repaired correctly, however, you have $5k + from State Farm that doesn't belong to you and should have gone to bmw. Thanks

This, however, was remedied by the ever-vigilant Tammy, who spoke to me in detail and apologized for the issues.

Two words: UNPROFESSIONAL and DECEITFUL…read more I truly don't know where to begin. I despise writing a poor review for a locally-owned business, but after months of being led-on and ignored, I am writing this in hopes of saving someone else's precious time. My husband was in a car wreck in October 2025. The person who rear-ended him has terrible insurance, so we decided to file a claim through our insurance, Allstate. Capital City Collision provided us a quote that our insurance did not agree with. An Allstate negotiator went back and forth with the shop. Part of the issue was my husband's truck had after-market parts that were damaged. Our Allstate negotiator, Elizabeth, called us to confirm that she was able to get funds approved by her manager and they reached an agreement on pricing with the shop. A check for $2,207.66 was sent to the shop to start ordering parts. According to Allstate, the shop cashed the check on January 20th. It is now March 19th and the shop still has yet to reach out. I have tried calling the shop multiple times in the last two months. Each time I call, they answer and hang-up immediately. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they are busy. I tried calling the shop today, and again, same situation: answer, then hang up. I thought to myself, "hmm... maybe they really are ignoring our calls?" So I waited 15 minutes and called back with a blocked number. What do you know... Catherine decided to pick up and answer this time! She kept me on hold for 9 minutes before taking me off hold and hanging up on me immediately. I called back, and a man answered. He transferred me up to Catherine, who kept me on hold for 4 minutes this time and hung up immediately. While I was on hold the second time, I received a text message saying they wouldn't do business with us. They ignored my text, asking when they planned on returning the check they cashed for $2,207.66. My husband and I have been trying to get his truck fixed since October 2025. It is now March 2026. I understand that our insurance was being difficult to work with... we were annoyed by Allstate, too! That being said, Capital City Collision could have rejected our business months ago, instead of stringing us along. Rather than sending this text message 5 months ago when this all started, they chose to dodge our calls and waste our time. Unprofessional does not even begin to describe their behavior. They were avoidant, deceptive, thieving, and rude.

I recently had to have work done on my car through my insurance, and Capital City was excellent…read more They had to wait on some parts longer than expected due to my insurance carrier, but that was out of their control. My tires needed replacing, so they reached out to me personally to ensure I was given the equivalent quality as a replacement. They were always very kind to deal with on the phone as well. Great service and great quality!!

The only communication we had through them after dropping off the van was through email. They sent an email saying "(T)here was a little supplement after the disassembly of the vehicle nothing crazy, I will send an invoice once it's in reassembly stages." Later, the shop agreed to lowering the bill by $731.54 but said I need to pay in full to get my van back. After paying in full, they wanted us to sign a form saying we authorized the repairs. Since I did not authorize the repairs, I refused to sign the form. Since I would not sign the form, the shop refused to give me my van back until I called the Police and the Police made them give my van back. When the van was finally released to us, we could not drive it away. The van would not start because of a dead battery. The shop personnel said that they had to constantly jump start the van in order to move it around. Why would a repair shop knowingly release a vehicle with a dead battery? In addition, the backup camera on the van does not work after they replaced the back bumper with the camera. I don't trust taking my van back to them again to get the backup camera fixed. I have tried to reach out to Caliber Corporate office but I have not heard back from them and it has been 2 weeks.

At first, CC claimed there was no issue and said they never disassembled the door. Later, they admitted they did disassemble it for refinish blending and now say it needs a new lock actuator. I shouldn't be on the hook for $450+ to fix a problem that didn't exist before their repair. Avoid this shop unless you have no other option, seriously
