A lot of they're really authentic Hispanic restaurants you usually have to speak Spanish to order but all the ladies here speak English so it's really awesome that it's the best of both worlds. Come to Cali Cafe for the amazing customer service, cleanliness and meat pastelito (pastry in Spanish)! Here's all we got on our visit: 2 meat pastelitos which were MY favorite 5/5 2 guava, apple and cheese pastelitos 4/5 2 chorizo Spanish sausage wrapped in a croissant 3.5/5 It was all worth the visit. Next time I'd like to try their Cuban sandwich and some other pastries too. The friendly guy at the front told me they were a little low on their pastries but that they usually re-up on Tuesday's. Cali Cafe is a little hidden, which is a shame because you might be missing out on some really great pastries, service and lunch if you didn't know it was there! Looking for an iced coffee and a pastry and stumbled upon this gem. It's located in a simply adorned strip mall but once inside the place was packed with happy smiling patrons and beautiful pastries and fresh bread. The owner came out to take a pic of our pup and he along with our server was friendly and attentive. We drove a bit out of our way home to get here and it was absolutely worth the trip. I came a couple weeks ago and was very underwhelmed. When i first walked in i waited in line behind another lady. There were many servers or workers walking around, but no one greeted me or said anything. Right after I got into line a Hispanic family came into the restaurant and was greeted happily by multiple workers and a worker even went up to them and handed them menus asking them if they wanted to sit inside or take their food to go. I turned around and was shocked. The worker then handed me a menu and walked away. I waited about 10 minutes to get my order taken. The lady in front of me didn't even place an order. It seemed as though they genuinely just didn't want me there. Once I ordered my food I waited over 20 minutes to didn't have to go up to the register and wait another five minutes for someone to acknowledge me. I asked them how much longer for my food because I simply ordered a croissant sandwich with no meat just egg and cheese and the girl grabbed a box out of the window that had already been sitting there for about 15 minutes. She was kind and said that she would bag it right up for me. Overall, my experience was very sad. I had saw this place online. My food was cold as expected, but I didn't wanna cause a fuss because I was already pretty disappointed with my experience. They didn't give me the cheese that I had asked for on my sandwich. I'm just pretty sad about this whole situation and how it played out. If you have not already guessed, I am a black woman. This is a predominantly Hispanic/Spanish setting. Stopped in a few weeks ago to check out the menu. We decided to give breakfast a try today. I had the Cuban breakfast sandwich with ham, a medium coffee and a HUGE cinnamon bun. Bill had the arepa with chorizo and a fried egg with a cafe americano coffee. I couldn't get a pic of his eclair. Definitely a fan of this tucked away cafe in Riverview. I literally got to this place when they opened. I wanted to make sure that I got everything fresh, and they weren't going to be out of things that I wanted. They open around 6:30AM and don't close until 6:30PM. I had already looked on Yelp for nearby bakeries in the area, so I didn't have to drive out to Tampa to get some goodies. Plus, I wanted a darn good strong Cuban coffee! Ok, so I pulled up right around 0630 and I was the second car already waiting for them to open. When I walked in, I smelled the goodness of pastries and coffee. I ended up with two orders of their Guava triangles, two chocolate chip cookies, and three orders of random pastries. While I was waiting for the lady to pack my goodies, I noticed that they also make their own cookies filled with caramel and rimmed with coconut. I have seen these before at an Argentinian place but was not a fan. However, they looked so damn good, that I couldn't pass it up. These little ones came in a container of 6, I believe. Hands down, the Guava triangles caramel cookies, and chocolate chip cookies were my favorite. She packed these goodies in their to go box and I ordered an Americano. Piping HOT! So good and fresh. Will I be back to pick up fresh pastries from this place again? 100% and SO worth getting up so early to make it to this place. read more

So I can't believe I had never heard of the Cali Cafe until a few weeks ago, for an anniversary event. I will start off by saying this. This past year has been hard on MANY small businesses, especially in the food and beverage industry. The consistency between the ones that survive and the ones that die usually come down to very simple things. Consistency/Selection of product. Customer experience, not just service; and overall dedication of the business owners to the staff. I can absolutely say from the moment you walk into Cali, you see all of the above. Now the review. I ordered a Cafe Americano, Breakfast Cuban, and a Guava and Cheese Pastry. The pastry was soooo fresh and flavorful. The ingredients did not overpower each other, and the tanginess of the guava made the pastry not too sweet. The breakfast Cuban was fresh made, hot and good flavor... but the star of the show... The Americano. Absolutely the best I've ever had and I will definitely become a regular because of it. Now, if only I could get my hands on one of those guava and cheese bundt cakes! ps. First time and last time there. Walked in they asked us for here or to go... should have said to go it would have been faster. Instead we sat down, sat for 10min no one came so went to the counter to ask if need to order here ....she said no I will come over... yet this was the same person who told us to have a seat when we came in. we ordered Café con Leche which were actually just lattes. We ordered a Cuban sandwich and it came with lettuce and tomato which warm lettuce does not taste good. Then we asked for check because no one came back to check on us... then we watched her start to come over but then went into employee room and never came out... so we asked another server to check us out so we could finally leave. They claim to be Cuban and we found it Americanized Cuban ... would not recommend! Would put no stars but not an option. Bad service and not authentic food! read more

Today was my very first visit, but I see many more in the future. This place actually reminds me a little of Ricopan. They have a similar assortment of pastries, sandwiches, juices, and coffee preparations. The biggest difference is that Cali Café is more spacious and has many tables that are spread out. It's more inviting. All the employees were wearing masks. They used kitchen tongs when handling baked items. Everything was clean and open. You could see the kitchen as you walk in. In fact, they had just pulled out a large tray of chicharrones de guayaba and handed it through the window as I was ordering. I couldn't resist them. She told me they were very hot and to be careful. I was sold! They had such a great variety of savory and sweet pastries. There was pan de bono and other Colombian breads. The coffee station was ready to brew Café Lavaive. I didn't get coffee this time but I will next time. I see they have sandwiches and juices as well. It's a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The taste and texture of the guava pastry I had today was amazing! It was the best looking and best tasting of this chicharron-style pastry in the area. Maybe because it was so fresh. As I mentioned before, it was straight out of the oven. When I got home, it was still warm. The inside was still soft and the outer layer was sweet and flaky. In fact, I even ate the bits of topping that fell off the pastry as I was eating it. It was crunchy and tasted kind of like frosted flakes cereal. No corn flakes were used in the making of this product, but it was just the combination of the crust and sugar that reminded me of it texture wise. It looks like it would be a heavy and filling pastry, but it was actually very light. It was awesome! I also got the pasteles de pollo. It was full of chicken, peas, and carrots. It's not what I'm used to eating but was still very good. I'm used to the Cuban or PR meat filling which is more seasoned and saucier. Some people like the Colombian version better. This is the Colombian version. So now I have 2 wonderful bakeries to go to for fresh out of the oven guava pastries in the Riverview (on Highway 301) area. I'd rather drive there from Valrico/Brandon than to go to the very large and popular Brandon bakery that shall remain nameless. Give this bakery a try. I can't wait to go back and try the coffee. read more

AMAZING!! I'm so happy to have a nice place to sit and enjoy coffee and pastries. I ordered a guava and cheese pastry (my go to and favorite). It was light and flaky, most importantly not too sweet. The cafe con leche was delicious as well. It was so smooth I didn't even need sugar! Which really says something about the quality. Customer service is top notch. It was immaculate inside, not a crumb on the table. That made me a customer right there. I absolutely intent to return. Stopped here today for the first time. Wanted to give a new cafe a shot. They were actually steady for a new cafe with a few customers when we wandered in. They have freshly baked goods and food available. We ordered an arepa and a guava cheese pastry. The arepa was actually really good and more like a corn bread patty with some cheese melted on top. The guava pastry was good, but not one of the best I've had. We also had 2 cafe con leche drinks. The espresso pour was strong so beware of that when ordering, it was a little too much for my guest but fine for me. They use Colombian coffee. The shop is quaint and clean. They have plugs and WiFi so it would be a good place to work from with a laptop. Overall, this place is nice and I hope it does well. I'm sure it will get busy as word spreads. Our total order was $9 which wasn't bad considering all we had. Will go back. read more

New coffee shop in Riverview that opened 2 weeks ago. They have Cafe Americano, Cafe con leche, iced lattes (it wasn't on the menu but they can make it for you if you ask). They also have a lot of different Columbian pastries (hot & cold). We tried most of their hot pastries, and they were all yummy. It pairs reallly well with their hot sauce (mild) which is very good. We tried the Fried cheese bread, baked cheese bread, chicken empanada, beef empanada, pastel de res, pastel de pollo, and potato balls that had beef inside. I highly recommend this place. I am soooo happy that there's finally a coffee shop in Riverview that isn't Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Support small businesses :) read more

Came here to grab a cup of coffee and chill. I got an iced coffee, which was super authentic and probably the best coffee I've had to date. They also have baked goods and empanadas which was super flavorful (got a chicken and beef empanada). Great prices (paid $9 for two iced coffees and 2 empanadas).
