Tuesday burger day. I came at 6 and they were out of beyond burger. No worries! So I enjoyed the next best thing Beet salad! It had yellow and red beets, and it was flavorful and delicious. Some greens and crumbles blue cheese.

We came here for dinner during an annual trip with our Book Group on a very very busy evening during the holiday, season. One of the group members had made a reservation, thinking she made a 5:30 reservation for dinner, but she mistakenly made a brunch reservation (long story). She somehow realized her mistake shortly before dinner (she ended up not being able to join us, so she was navigating this via phone from a distance) Despite the fact that we now did not Have a reservation, Caleb's graciously offered us a table when they opened at 5 PM and allowed us 70 minutes to eat as the table was booked at 6:15. We were worried we would be too rushed, but in the end, we had an AMAZING dinner. The staff was professional and this night they seamlessly managed to make 70 minutes feel more like an hour and a half. I know they were under the wire and we pushed them to the limit, but we had a really great evening and owe them a heap of thanks for saving the night. Oh .. and everything we ordered , from appetizers to dessert, was perfect!

For a place that is fairly open, the noise level, at least in the main room, is surprisingly loud - not overwhelming but right up there. Service was fast and efficient. There were 6 of us and everyone commented not only on how much they enjoyed their choices but also on the large size of each sandwich. This ranged from Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese to Avocado BLTs to Shrimp Tacos as well as a giant House-cured Pastrami Reuben. They all came with in-house made potato chips or Fries. With sodas or Iced Tea, before tip, the bill came to around $36 per couple. Well worth a return visit.

Ask the Community - Caleb's American Kitchen

I am having a large event next March and I'm looking for a venue to host about 45 people. Is Caleb's a place I can use? Is there reasonable parking a space for a large crowd?

I'm sure it can be done, but it will probably be a tight fit. & they do have a small parking lot, but I did see other areas to park around the location.

It would be too lengthy to try to describe each dish but all but one ( the Larchmont Farm Nectarine) was extraordinary. There is a very small cocktail/wine list now. We started with a prosecco from the Veneto and some nice appetizers. This was a five course menu preceded by cocktails. The ambiance was an older farmhouse and we sat at a long table with Gail our wine presenter/expert sitting across from us. There were approximately 18 guests. The kitchen was open for us to see and aromas were pleasant . The food was outstanding and we particularly enjoyed the pappardelle and Osso Buco my wife has some leftovers. The wines were perfectly paired and we really enjoyed them all. The Nizzi Barbera was notable. Service was great and Gail was excellent providing history and explanations of all the wines. The second pairing had a bit of an issue with a corked bottle but all was made right. The chef came out as each course was served to explain the dishes and their preparation. We will return when another wine dinner is offered. Mark & Nancy.

Inside kind of feels like a farmhouse vibe with the browns and greens. The bar downstairs with the more formal seating upstairs is pretty cool. Service was good, waitress was warm and friendly; took our order timely, and wait times weren't overly long. My appetizer was forgotten at first but it was brought out a little after the meals were. I ordered the grouper finger appetizer and red snapper Provençal, and wifey had the filet mignon with sweet potato fries. My grouper fingers were light and fluffy with a touch of crisp from the coating. The snapper dish was tasty, not a fan of mushrooms but dealt with them since the overall combo of spinach, caper, and tomato went well. The fish was served skin side down, which was crispy. I get plating the accompaniments on top, but not on the skin, however should have removed the skin since it was pointless. The cookery of the fish was good, ends were a little chewy due to getting the skin crispy, but I didn't mind. The house rice was a bit mushy, but had a good flavor since the capers were also inside. Wifey's steak was cooked correctly and tasted good too. It came with bleu cheese and a butter sauce which went well with the fries and meat. She thought it was a nice meal. Overall, would return to Porterhouse if I ever visit Peddler's again.

This time, we skipped my usual Wawa run (the Cuban is still elite) and headed to Karla's Restaurant--and it delivered. Set in a charming old house, each room feels intimate and unique. We snagged a patio table and caught the sunset--honestly, it was a little magical. We started with cocktails (my Sidecar was spot-on), then shared: * Caesar salad * Calamari For the entrée, we split the fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw--crispy, flavorful, and more than enough food. And dessert? Carrot cake. Absolutely delicious--moist, perfectly spiced, and finished with that classic cream cheese frosting. A must-order. Service was fun and personable (we even had a doppelgänger moment with our server--still laughing about that). A few notes: * Bathrooms are upstairs via narrow stairs (old-house charm) * Cozy, room-by-room layout * Prices are very fair Bottom line: Great food, great vibe, and a quintessential New Hope dining experience. I'll definitely be back--next time for brunch. Life's short. Eat well.
