5/5 - Fantastic find in Doylestown! Loved our dinner at Vernafern--cozy spot with an open kitchen and heartfelt food. The linguine meatballs were rich and comforting, grilled pork tenderloin perfectly executed with great sides, and the poached pear salad was a fresh highlight. Another great addition to Doylestown and the Marketplace. Open kitchen with really innovative, vegetarian friendly, comfort elevated gastropub type cuisine. The staff are so friendly, and while it's byob (you can get cocktails or wine/beer from Sidebar and Hop/scotch. I love that there's a seasonal menu and specials which just makes us keep coming back. A way to avoid the chaos ( sometimes) of HopScotch but still enjoy the nighttime live music and vibes. read more

My first review of Vernafern was good but a little disappointing. After eating here a second time with friends, we had a wonderful meal. I got a special swordfish skewer small plate, Swedish meatballs and the 1/2 chicken entree. All three were excellent. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful and juicy. Recommended Love that it's byob very casual but nicely decorated place. Ate the steak which was wonderful! Also had bok choy and a salad both great. Alittle high in the price point for the atmosphere but I would go back for the steak. read more

Amazing lunch at Vernafern. The staff was knowledgeable and offered recommendations to complement the selections we made as well as provided top notch service. Hot Girl Kale Salad and the Crispy Polenta Fries stole the show.. the sauce is just fabulous. Had a magical dessert twist on Bananas Foster which included a melt in your mouth roasted banana, topped with crunchy phyllo squiggles, caramel and a homemade whipped cream and paired with Garam Masala ice cream- knock your socks off delicious. Looking forward to returning and tasting other dishes, as the menu is so creative and there were other things I need to try! Visit with friends so you can order more and try it all. I have been several times and the food is consistently great. There has not been a single dish that I or anyone I have brought did not enjoy or that we would not want to eat again. The service is great with friendly staff and a more open concept kitchen so the chef can interact with guests as well. It's BYOB or you can grab a drink from a place in the marketplace. The price point for the food quality is not something you see at a lot of local places. I have some annoying food restrictions and the staff and chef has been nothing but helpful and accommodating. The location is right across from a bar that does sometimes have live music, but I've never felt interrupted or felt it was too loud. I will continue to come back and it is a must eat in the area. read more

I was disappointed. Perhaps it was because we went on a Tuesday but the menu was very limited. Other reviews I have read here and on Google mention some fantastic menu options that weren't available to us. Two of us had the bleu cheese smashburger and one the crab cake sando. We all agreed they were ok. The fries were not to my liking. I just prefer crisper less well done fries. I was really surprised when we asked for a dessert menu and was told they had nothing sweet to offer. We were there celebrating two birthdays and ended up going up the street for dessert. Service was fine. We almost couldn't find the place as there was no sign we could see from the street. The place was empty. The overall marketplace concept seems pretty cool. read more

What a great addition to the Doylestown restaurant scene! Went for a light dinner and absolutely loved the fried tofu and polenta fries. Had an order of brussels sprouts, which was nicely roasted and plentiful. Nice menu and also serve lunch with some sandwiches, etc. You can bring in drinks from Hops/Scotch or BYOB. It's in the former PA Soup and Seafood. Open kitchen, owner on site and very personable. Reasonable prices. Will be back often! read more

Chef Justin and team have crafted an innovative, causal yet refined dining experience at Vernafern. Each dish beautifully seasoned with larger than expected portions. The menu features locally sourced ingredients, "farm-to-table" concepts, and homemade bread/pastas. We have dined at Vernafern multiple times including with the chef's table (prix fixe) which was incredible. Without a doubt, the best meal in Doylestown. A restaurant such as this would thrive in Center City or Manhattan yet we are fortunate to have it within the Borough. They do not serve alcohol but accommodate BYOB or walk across the hall to Hop/Scotch for fantastic cocktails. Beautiful ambience and vibe. We look forward to many wonderful meals including brunches at Vernafern...and you should, too! read more

Best experience with Vernafern catering!! The food was beautiful and each bite was so delicious!! All of our guests were asking about them. Everyone was extremely friendly, accommodating, professional and responsive. The bartender made the most amazing strawberry margaritas and several other fun drink options. They took care of everything from creating a unique menu with our input, bringing and setting up tables and the bar, helping me with last minute decorations, timing the different courses and making sure everyone was happy through the night. At the end of the party, everything was cleaned up in the blink of an eye. I can't say enough good things about Vernafern and look forward to working with them at our next event!! read more

We had dinner last Thursday night. What a fun evening. The wedge salad with blue! cheese dressing was terrific. The Mushroom burger was to die for. You can taste the cartelized onion mixed in with the sautéed mushroom slices on a delicious bun Large enough to share. The sweet potato slices with a honey glaze were incredible. The waitress was so helpful. Service was great. A dessert of a cream type custard with berries and cookie crumbs stole the show. Fun atmosphere. There are even tables to watch the chef cook. We went for the first time today and were absolutely blown away. The polenta fries were stunning - hot, crispy with an amazing sauce spicy enough to warm your throat, but not spicy enough to burn. The Verna Burgers were delicious and well cooked. I also had the blueberry shrub, which was refreshing and light. We finished with the bread pudding which was more a giant French toast, but absolutely no complaints. The food has a playful quality; Vernafern is very interested in seeing what they can do with the flavors and textures and it's working beautifully. We found all the waitstaff (and an owner) to be very friendly, approachable and eager to hear feedback. I highly recommend trying Vernafern and I am looking forward to going back. read more
