Water ice was too watery for my preference. As pictured it looks like it's already melting when I just received it. However the gelati combo was really good! We tried the orange and crème and vanilla soft serve. I like that they layer the ice cream and water ice for a more even distribution. At Rita's the soft serve is only at the top so this was more balanced. read more

I know people are obsessed with Annie's so my review will be unfavorable. But it just wasn't anything to write home about. As for most places that locals are obsessed with I feel like you have to be a local that's taken your family here for years and years or have worked here to find appeal. Don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible and I love that there's a local business serving water ice but it just didn't hit the mark for me. First off there's two entrances to the windows which makes the lines confusing because which side do you go up and who gets served first. Secondly my soft serve was basically liquid. It was a cool night and it was just a soppy mess. Maybe that's where I went wrong I should have gotten water ice. Also the girl told me they had sugar cones and handed me a wafer cone - not the same thing at all. Not saying I won't ever be back but I just don't see the appeal by this local spot. read more

Friendly staff with onsite parking but the vanilla soft serve didn't taste like vanilla. Basically flavorless. The cherry water ice tastes watery and not much like cherry. The prices were great but I wouldn't go back. read more

Cute little ice cream shop that looks like a little house. Friendly service. Awesome ice cream. I had a pb cup blast (similar to a blizzard) with twist ice cream and it was so good. They blended it very well and she sure didn't skimp on the pb cups. There is a tiny parking lot with a couple spaces, but expect those spaces to be taken if you have a nice hot day. We went at night and it still had quite the crowd, but I understand why. It is a local ice cream gem to the Doylestown area. I do think it is better than Rita's. Do yourself a favor and drive past Rita's and come here. I always order a gelati - which is water ice layered with ice cream. Similar to Rita's but better. Rita's uses a custard instead of ice cream... in my opinion, it's too rich. Which is why I refer Annie's. They have rotating flavors of water ice. If you see Tangerine, get it! If you make it a gelati with vanilla ice cream, it tastes like a creamsicle. Besides water ice, they have vanilla/chocolate/twist soft serve ice cream. You can order a sundae or a milkshake or a root beer float. Tons of options! There is a small parking lot plus there's also (limited) street parking. Just don't park in the bank lot. read more

A hidden gem of Doylestown located right by the train station. I ordered the Basset Blast, which is their take on a blizzard. I was a little surprised that the candy was layered in the cup instead of blended as mentioned in their description. It wasn't bad, just unexpected. Where can I start? What a disgrace. I ordered 3 sundaes. I am not a cheap person, however. it was 19.00. If I am paying 19.00, I expect 19.00 worth of sundaes. The sundaes came out with whipped cream and sprinkles. There was no chocolate or peanut butter topping. It was like eating vanilla icecream. The two young men that were working at the window were chatting away and having an inappropriate conversation. They were more concerned about talking than waiting on customers. I had the gelati. Chocolate soft serve ice cream with mango water ice. It was good but not outstanding. I liked the mango flavor. The problem was that the water ice is on the bottom and top. By the time you get to the bottom, it has already melted and you are left with more of flavored water than ice. read more

I commute from Philly to Doylestown everyday for work, and the fact that this is on the way back to the train station, makes it the perfect treat at the end of the day. They have a variety of flavors of water ice, but my favorite thing about this place is the soft serve. I grew up eating soft serve chocolate ice cream, and once I moved to Philly for college, I couldn't find it anywhere in the city (please, if you know where I can find some, let me know)!! This is a fun place to get a frozen treat! I like the Bassett Blast and the Gelati. The ice cream and water ice is fresh and I love the various flavors that they have. Last night I tried a delicious coconut cream water ice with vanilla and chocolate twist ice cream. It was yummy! For only $4, I had a large serving which must have been close to 16 oz. Great old school water ice and ice cream place that blows Rita's out of the water. Going here brings me back to the old neighborhood water ice places I used to go to as a kid growing up in Philly. They have a nice deck with some tables to enjoy your summer treats as well. They make great gelati's with the perfect balance of soft serve to water ice ratio. And the most important thing is their water ice. Hands down the best I've had in a while. After being disappointed time and time again by the local Rita's, we gave Annie's a try. Annie's gives the customer the "mom and pop" feel that Rita's lacks since becoming overly franchised. In addition, the service and value are also at better. The water-ice was delicious and although the soft serve is not custard like Rita's, it was extremely good. I think we will skip the franchises for now on and head here to this local spot. It helps that our 3 year old daughter is named Annie and she thinks the place is named after her ;) read more

This place is right near the Doylestown train station. The menu is simple and they don't have custard, just soft serve ice cream. But the water ice is very good. Less overly sweet and artificial than Rita's. A good find on a summer day with plenty of flavors. Stop by with the family and you will not be disappointed. I would rate this place as between Rita's and John's water ice, which I think is the best, for those of you out there who are water ice aficionados. But the latter is all of the way in South Philly so this will do. read more
