Inhaled this gluten free cake! So good. Espresso was great flavor. They have so many delicious desserts and service was good. Nice cafe.
First time visiting Philly and we decided to pop in for a quick treat. There were decent bit of people in there but there is seating in the small space. Workers were very polite and efficient. I got the Tangerine Cheesecake because of how pretty it looked- the leaf is not edible and it doesn't really taste of cheesecake per se but it's fine. I took it on the Amtrak and ate it maybe an hour later and it was still holding up well
I had been wanting to try this place for a while! I was having the biggest chocolate craving and the double mousse chocolate didn't disappoint! It's rich and creamy. Honestly can't compare it too much... but until this point I've only had think chocolate flour cakes... this doesn't have that "cake" it's mousse... But for one of my first experiences with mousse... wow... let me tell ya... I want to go back and eat it again. The workers are kind, and as I chose to dine in, the server came back several times to check in on me and see if I needed anything! Can't wait to try more items in this world of mousse!

A cute coffee and dessert cafe in Chinatown! Open late so it's a great spot to relax after a meal! There's a great selection of drinks hot and cold. The desserts are not only eye appealing but delicious! One thing to note, if you sit at one of the tables, you will get service. If you go to the counter, it will be to go service.
Super cute cafe and bakery with a HUGE selection of pastries (even late!) and teas. Service was quick and the tiramisu we ordered was packaged with care. They have cakes shaped like animals and fruit that are beyond cute. The tiramisu was very flavorful, but a little frozen, so I suggest leaving it out a little before you eat it if you take it to go.

This is probably one of the best Asian cake I've had from a storefront. This specific location offers a different selections for dine-in. I've only had the cakes from take out selections and they were all good. Their fresh cream cake slices are 10/10, very light and have a perfect amount of sweetness.
Visited Philly for the day and wanted to try the viral pastries. À la mousse did not disappoint. The pastries were so beautifully made. And the taste was very lite but still flavorful.

A La Mousse is a solid dessert spot if you're in the Chinatown area. They're open late for a weekday compared to other nearby places. It was a chilly night so I went with the hot cherry blossom matcha latte. Imagine a matcha latte with notes of cherry blossom in it. It was delicious in my opinion and the best part - not too sweet. Their matcha chocolate cake is usually one of my go-to's - dark chocolate cake with matcha chocolate mousse and vanilla chantilly. Their matcha chocolate actually tastes like matcha so I'm happy about that. Great paired combination with the chocolate and vanilla. Other recommendations: coffee mousse and hazelnut mousse, and the mango. There are tables inside suitable for small groups. It was clean and spacious enough when I went there. Surprised I haven't written a review before, but I definitely recommend bc I keep coming back here whenever I'm craving dessert in Philly.

We ordered their signature mango mousse dessert, which came with a side of ice cream. The mousse was heavenly, with a thin surrounding layer of white chocolate and real mango within. They had a stunning display of other creations that I would love to come back to try!

Incredible dessert shop serving craft mousse, cakes, lattes and matcha. I dined in and tried the earl grey mousse with raspberry ice cream. The textures were incredible, it was light but decadent, soft yet crunchy, a truly perfect dessert. I also tried a berry chocolate cake and it was delicious. The strawberry matcha was good but nothing special. The space inside to eat was on the smaller side, but there was plenty of seating available. Table service menu is $1 more expensive than take out. Worth it for the plating. read more
This a cute place, a little small, but definitely worth visiting. Cakes are super cute and tasty. Definitely worth the price. I'm not a huge of their concept of take in you have to sit and get table service. Take it for takeout. The mango is really good. read more

If I could go back in time to when I never heard of this place or wanted to find a last minute dessert to bring home, I would not only be happier about my evening, I'd have $28 more instead of 3 piles of uninspired garbage masquerading as "Asian Desserts" sitting in the trash (where they belong). Avoid this place, the food is BLAND, it's extremely OVERPRICED, and if all you want is a PRETENTIOUS selfie, you can do it for free outside by the window. read more

Solid dessert spot with adorable desserts and some really tasty options. You definitely pay a premium for the aesthetics, but the enjoyment of seeing such cute treats and flavor combos make it worthwhile. I tried the bear mousse cake and tiramisu plant a while back in a takeout order and they were both great, but mostly recently tried dining in. The tables are a bit close so you do end up hearing your neighbors, but you do get ice cream with some of the pastries when you dine in. We tried this sleeping white chocolate bear that came with a fruity ice cream and also a hazelnut mousse cake that was paired with a sea salt caramel ice cream with caramel cups and rice crisps. Both were great, but I preferred the chocolate dessert as the bear and fruit ice cream were quite sweet. read more
I wish we had one of these in my town! It has become a tradition to grab a mango mousse cake while visiting family in Philly! This is located in Chinatown in downtown Philly. No matter what cake I try here, I always gravitate toward the mango mousse because I love not only the taste, but the artistry behind the presentation of the cake! There is a white chocolate layer, mousse, a bit of sponge, and a mango filling in the center. The amount I pay for desserts at other shops, I feel the pricing is fair here for such a presentation and quality product. The brown bear and chocolate macarons were enjoyed by the rest of the family. They have an extensive drink menu, so hopefully can try something from there as well. Till next time! read more
Absolutely delicious and adorable desserts! The place was packed (at 7 pm on a Sunday night) so we opted for take out. We ordered two desserts and two milkshakes. We were asked if we minded waiting 5-10 minutes for the milkshakes and we said, "Fine." We ended up waiting 15 minutes, which was slightly frustrating because I felt in the way the whole time because I use a mobility aid. The desserts (brown bear and polar bear) and milkshakes were absolutely delectable. Would go back, but would skip the drinks if they're swamped. Note: there is one step up to get into A La Mousse with no other entrance with accessibility. My husband had to lift my rollator and guide me in. read more

Came across to this small cozy modern French-Asian sweets on 11th Street in Chinatown Philly opened in 2015. Best known for their Matcha desserts. I haven't try their Matcha desserts yet, Ordered a few desserts & a drink. - Pomegranate Strawberry Lemonade Tea the drink wasn't to sweet and flavors pair up so perfectly well. Boyfriend drank most of them - Lychee Panna Cotta super creamy and light on every bite. - Mango Mousse Cake [A sweet delicate white chocolate spray covers a mango mousse, layer of diced mango lime jam in the middle] - Tangerine Cheesecake [Tangerine cheesecake,layers blood orange cream and tangerine pudding.] Everything was delicious not to sweet and the flavors were just dancing on my tongue. On every bite you taste the fruits. They also have some gluten free desserts. Definitely check it out if you're in the area The staff were super friendly and even brought my desserts and drink to the table. read more
Such a cute little shop! I saw they had so many cute little cakes for sale. My friend got me a vanilla cake with strawberries inside tonight. The cake I got was super cute, and the cake was moist and delicious! The icing and cream wasn't too sweet, so it was perfect for me. However, the strawberries were frozen, so it did feel super hard and cold to bite into. The girls at the counter were quick with the service and very friendly. I can't comment on pricing, since it was purchased by a friend, but we all enjoyed the cake. read more

Asian/french inspired desserts in Chinatown. We ordered the polar bear dessert ($11) which was a vanilla mousse with hazelnut praline and chocolate cake. It was a little bit too sweet for my taste but the presentation was very cute. The place has limited seating but we didn't have to wait to be seated. I found this cute place online and Im so glad I gave it a try! My favorite items are the vanilla mousse bear and the raspberry heart so yummy! This place is a definite must go! They have tea and other items I can't wait to try as well. **Update** Food and Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Green Tea-ra-misu]: In denser desserts like tiramisu, I like an opposing flavor to cut the sweetness and richness. In this instance, I was hoping that the bitterness of the matcha would help but there wasn't much matcha flavor in general. The salted caramel pretzel ice cream helped but this was still too dense for my taste and, even though I shared it with my sister, I wish we had a third person to split it with. - [Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk]: This tasted ok. The oat milk watered down the taste of the matcha. I would choose the Matcha Almond Milk Latte over this. - [Pomegranate Strawberry Lemonade Tea]: This also tasted ok. A little sweet and artificial but not too sweet. -[Matcha Mousse Cake*]: Not the best matcha dessert I've ever had but, overall, I thought it was pleasant. Because I had this dessert dining in, I had it with a scoop of matcha ice cream, which was honestly the star of the whole dessert. I believe they carry Bassetts Ice Cream. -[Matcha Mango Latte]: I think I like the idea of a matcha mango latte but I think the flavor of bright, tart mango competes too much with the earthier, subdued flavor of the matcha. -[Matcha Almond Milk Latte]: This tastes better than the Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk but doesn't taste any more special than the instant matcha latte powder I have at home. - [Sizzling Ice Cream]: Definitely more for the gimmick and the Instagram video because the server pours the matcha sauce over the dessert to activate the sizzle of the hot cast iron. I thought that the matcha brownie was too dense and as the ice cream on top melts more, the brownie soaks up all that liquid to make it even denser. - [Matcha Lava Cake*]: Out of all the matcha desserts I've tried at A La Mousse, this is definitely the best and good in its own right. The dessert is well balanced and all of the components come together to give you the matcha flavor you wanted. Well worth the 20-25 minute wait. - [Mango Mille Crepe*]: Not too sweet. A good ratio of crepe to cream. I like the jelly layer on top, which gives a bit of tartness to the dessert. Would I go back? : Maybe. Since my last review, I've gone back to A La Mousse several times with friends and tried more of their matcha items. But I still stand by my previous opinion that A La Mousse is more memorable in looks but not necessarily memorable in taste. It seems like they no longer sell the Pink Guava Fruit Tea, which is a shame because that was one of the best items they sold. My friends and I usually end up at A La Mousse because it's one of the few desserts places that are open late and has seating to hang out but we should probably branch out and go somewhere else that serves better items. read more
Cute little cafe with pastries and cute cakes, great for a little sweet treat. Staff is super nice. We got the tangerine cheesecake and it looks super cute. The cake was average tbh. The mango ice cream it came with was absolutely delicious though and probably the best part of the dish. It also comes resting on some sort of granola base and that too was really yummy. As I said, the cake bit is not that exciting. Overall, quite cute experience, great ambiance. You don't feel rushed despite how busy it constantly is and it is just a nice place to rest and get a snack. Prices are a little steep for what it is though. read more
I was really excited for the ube salted egg yolk cake since this was the one speciality item that I feel like I hadn't really seen before but this was really disappointing. There was almost no salted egg yolk flavor, it was all only one thin layer of cream. The ube fondant on the top was also hard to cut through and the cake itself was just okay. We came for the matcha lava cake, which was pretty good! The matcha lava was really thick and rich, and the matcha flavoring was pretty strong. The matcha ice cream was also really tasty, mixed with the warm cake and lava it was delicious. Definitely one of the better lava cakes I've had! The other desserts we got were pretty standard, felt like they would have been pretty similar if we got them at any other dessert shop but they weren't bad. read more
Came here twice in my 5-day trip to Philly. It wasn't very busy on a Thursday late afternoon, but was hopping on weekend nights with college students on dates and hanging out in groups. Cute decor and even cuter desserts. They have macarons and cakes and drinks--I enjoyed the bunny dessert, special Hot Cherry Blossom espresso Latte, and Matcha Mousse Cake--they have a lot of cherry blossom drinks and matcha desserts! Are there any sockets to charge your laptop? Is it loud?
Very few outlets. Not an ideal place to do work or study because it's a tight space and loud. I'd recommend Mr. Deer Camp boba place nearby that is spacious and quiet.
