Back in town and of course I had to stop in and try their other menu items. This time I tried the carnitas taco and the pork in green chili tacos. Very good but the brisket tacos are still my favorite. Also picked up 3 bags of their home made beef jerky and a bottle of the BBQ sauce to take back home with me. This time we dined outside. Always been a Joe's person. But after hearing good things about Caldwells we wanted to give it a try. The meat was pretty bland tasted like everything just had pepper as the seasoning. I love ribs so I had high hopes for them and the meat did fall off the bones because they're St. Louis which is the best but no flavor. Bummed there was no cornbread however the corn casserole was so good that's what gave this 4 stars instead of 3 along with the banana pudding and Texas sheet cake. Jalapeño cheddar sausage and potato salad are very good. Overall not a bad experience. I like that the carvers are serve us, the meat. Went here for a company lunch/team-builder. We got a couple platters with smoked ribs, pulled pork, and prime brisket. They also got sides but I didn't partake since I was on a keto diet at the time. This was my preference, in order - pulled pork, brisket, ribs. I could probably eat the pulled pork every day. It was very good. I'm not a brisket kind of guy but it was good and very moist. It had a very nice char to it which was a welcome texture. Then ribs came in last, maybe entirely because there just wasn't a lot of meat on the bones. The meat also didn't fall off the bone but ribs are seek tricky due to the cooking requirements so I'll given them a pass. The co-workers seemed to enjoy it all as well. We would have got Turley but we were less than a week away from Thanksgiving so ain't nobody got time to gorge themselves on turkey right before Thanksgiving knowing that you'd have leftovers for weeks. You can get unlimited bread if you would like they said. The bread is a little odd to me; since it is plain sandwich bread. It would be nice to have some cornbread, or for it to be toasted. The meat had so much flavor and tasted so fresh! We really like the house sauce, it has a sweet flavor. The AZ sauce is pretty good as well. The hot and sweet was our favorite! It was a perfect mix of the two! The beans were a favorite for our family! They had a ton of flavor and tasted very fresh! The potato salad was as good as well. The corn mix had a strange potato consistency but was delicious. The outside area is really really nice! There are tons of tables. The parking lot has tons of parking the only downside is the parking lot smells like sewer; which isn't a smell you want to smell walking into the restaurant. We just had lunch at Caldwell County That is the very best place for bbq or brisket 5 stars every time talk to Jimmy he runs the smokers. He has it down to a science! And he is happy to talk about what he does and how he does it. He is quite proud of what he does and rightly so. The ambiance I think I'm gonna say is just what you want it to be, a bit rustic. but very clean eat out side if it's warm enough, umbrellas for shade if there's too much sun. I got to say this place is really good and worth the price, when it comes to BBQ I usually like the way I do things better, that was until I tried this place. We got the brisket, pulled pork and the sausage. Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. The brisket was fall apart and juicy withe the right amount of smoke flavor, the pull pork was tender and paired well with the bbq sauce, the sausage was amazing, we really like the Mac and cheese it was creamy and cheesy. Not the same Caldwell's anymore. They remodeled, and now the line forms outside instead of inside. Be ready to sweat while you wait; southern exposure makes it brutal. I get the idea, but it's just not fun standing out there in the heat. On top of that, the menu has gone completely à la carte. Sides that used to be included now cost an extra $4 each. For example, the General Patton with two sides is $27 now. You're over $30 a person after drink and you're not even getting table service. Desserts? Cut in half. Value? Gone. This used to be my go-to BBQ spot for a solid meal at a fair price. Now, maybe I'll stop in once in a while, but it's no longer the regular place it used to be. All good things come to an end, I guess, but for me, I'll skip the sweaty line and go somewhere with AC and service. 2 stars because the food is still solid. But with the new pricing, they're charging like a full-service restaurant and that's where it doesn't add up. Great flavors, but not worth the value anymore. It's actually hard to only give Caldwell's five stars because their customer service, friendliness, and food are beyond anything you could conceivably expect from a local BBQ joint. Walking in, you see where the magic happens. This is where we met pit master Steve and Brendan. They gave us a run down on how they run their giant smokers. These men genuinely love their jobs and it made the experience even more enjoyable. Caldwell's quickly became my number one pregnancy craving, so we have come often this summer and always look forward to returning. Even though it was 108 today, sitting on the patio was definitely tolerable with the fans and misters. The manager (I think his name is Ben) takes care of patrons like we're family and the staff greets us warmly like we belong there every single time. Mid day on Sunday was a great time to go for a slow pace and even available indoor seating. This is my family BBQ spot for the rest of time and this baby is going to come into the world probably wanting BBQ. read more

The moment you open your car door the aromas of smoke hits you and the service you get is very inviting and friendly, making you feel comfortable and warms your soul. This place was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious but the location we went to was in Queen Creek. We never been to this place and thought it was going to be a fun time to have a birthday celebration for my husband. As we came down to ordering our food and we had no clue what we were ordering and of course it took us a minute to kind of read through the menu. The whole time we were ordering we were being laughed at by their teenager employees and felt judge the whole time we ordering, even the sweet couple before us looked lost and they just look at each other and laughed. After that bad interaction with them the whole mood shifted and didn't feel like a celebration anymore. I really feel this place needs to train their employees on the importance of customer service, instead of laughing at us, they should've offered any tips or advice on what to order. read more

The brisket was so tender you could cut it with a plastic fork. I got to meet the guys behind the meat which was Aaron and John. 2 of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I was peeking over the BBQ area and they invited me to come back and look at the meat that was cooking. I thought that was pretty cool cause most people don't want to be bothered. The place is inconspicuous in the front but when you drive around back, you find a cute outdoor seating area with fun ambience. The BBQ is amazing, juicy, tasteful, and well made. The service went quickly and you didn't feel rushed. At the order window the guy gave us a sample of the brisket to try, it was the right amount of smoke, tender, and juicy. All of the side were delicious. The lemon poppyseed coleslaw had a hint of lemon, which made it very refreshing and unique. The mac & cheese had green chili to add extra flavor, and the corn casserole was sweet and delightful.
