3.5 rounding down to 3 It's been some time since I've been to this bakery cafe, but I'm glad they're still here. They're in the Crossroads plaza, so it's very accessible and there's ample parking. I wanted to take my daughter out for a little treat. She was finally recovered from a nasty bug so I wanted something nicer than the Tims. Unfortunately, it didn't look so nice when we first came in, because it was busy and the staff weren't able to keep up with bussing the tables. That's how 3.5 became 3 instead of 4. I'm glad to report, though, that things were cleared while we were still there. The Christmas decor made sitting at our table mote cheery. They also have a decent bathroom each for men and women. We chose our treats from the case and our beverages. I ordered a large decaf, but was surprised and disappointed when it turned out to be instant. I wished I had ordered the latte instead. Our cake slices (red velvet and chocolate) were fresh and tasty, very much on point with American standard taste and sweetness. They have a huge selection of both Portuguese and American style goodies to choose from. I love that prices are reasonable. I also appreciated that tipping is still treated as customer discretion. Even though your order is brought to your table after you've lined up and paid, there is no automatic tip screen to deal with before you actually pay. From now on, whenever I happen to be around this plaza, I will be far more likely to come here than the Tims. read more

Make sure to try their Pastel de Nata that comes in different flavours. The staff here are helpful. Food was great, nice that they were open early on a weekend (went just after 8am). Didn't take too long after i placed my order for the sandwiches to arrive. The smell of espresso and coffee was great when i walked in too. Ordered a simple steak sandwich. Crispy and flaky croissant. Nice little bakery in a plaza that's lacking good food. Had a great selection of cakes/tarts and such. We took home a flan and a slice of an Oreo cake. The Oreo cake was kind of stale, may have been sitting there for too long. The flan was alright. We also took home a coffee, which was fine. And we took home two ham & cheese sandwiches, which were especially delicious. If I'd recommend anything from here, it would be the sandwiches! read more

Fresh and flakey goodness. I come here all the time for their original Portuguese tart. It is in a plaza that is lacking in many things but this bakery makes up for it. I ordered six tarts and they updated their boxes to include their branding and design (might I add that the boxes look very nice and flashy - it definitely now helps them become more recognized)! I've never tried anything else in the bakery but there are a number of cakes and other pasteries as well! read more

Was there for the first time. They were giving more priority on the outside customers rather then the customers sitting down. Nobody approached us. Walked out. Very disappointed.Never going back. If u want fast service pay and go don't bother waiting for table service. We ended up going to a new Portuguese Bakery down the street . read more

Caldense Bakery's pastel de nata may not be as original as the one at Antiga Confeitaria de Belém in Lisbon, but close enough...Just wish they are fresh from the oven fresh! Smooth sweet custard and flaky shell... There are also other baked goods and dessert... and if you want a light meal, soup, salad and deli sandwiches also available. For coffee and tea, there is a price difference between having it to go or if you prefer table services. sip my coffee, eat my custard tart.. Lots of different Fresh baked goodies and the best coffee around. The place can be very busy in the morning but the Staff are friendly and helpful . Great steak sandwiches too. I make this my regular coffee place when I am in the area. read more

I have gone to their sixth location "Caldense Bakery & Pastry VI" in Mississauga and knew how their coffee tastes. So as soon as I saw this I knew I need a shot...a espresso shot, Its been busy at work you know! lets get down to logistics. Parking is great as its a plaza! Seating - Plenty of seating available in the shop. Currently they have 2 tables out side to enjoy the summer. Service - was quick, fast and friendly. Food - they had various breads, Cakes, Hot drinks, baked goods and much more. I was there at multiple visits and had their Espresso Machiatto and Cappuccino, I would say not bad this is as close to Italy as I can get. The strong coffee is smooth even without any sugar and very enjoyable. I did see Breakfast & Lunch on the menu. I will definitely go back! to try some more stuff! read more

Love the dessert options but the service is really bad. It takes at least 15-20 minutes just for them to put a piece of cake in a box and make a tea. Favouritism is also a big thing at this location. The woman standing behind me had her order taken before mine even though I got there first. Not a pleasant experience and will not be going back. read more

The Bifana with tomato onion sauce was excellent! Bought a couple of interestingly looking pastries...love them! Will go back for the Bifina with their special sauce and will try their other pastries as well. read more

Great staff and pastries. Many times I have seen the same problems and after addressing them nothing has been done about it. Men's washroom is very disgusting with a bad odor of urine. I also have seen roaches on the walls and inside the display cases. Managment not concerned about my complaints. read more

Caldense bakery has a good selection of sweets and savoury foods, practically something for everyone. My absolute favourite is their sandwiches. I also find pricing to be very good for their quality. Only downfall is the lack of Parking. read more

They have good espresso and Portuguese pastries here. But how the staff treats you matters also. The staff left the door wide open & as a result a yellow jacket wasp got in & stung my daughter on the top of her earlobe when we were sitting inside. The supervisor said it wasn't their fault, they needed to open the door because it was too hot in the cafe & refused to close door. Have these people never heard of air conditioning? We are very upset & my daughter is still in pain. At least the staff gave her a water bottle to ice the ear :((( read more

Not my favorite place anymore I meet once week with my friend. The radio station is loud. And they claim they can't change the station when asked to lower the volume . Food is good . service is good. Noisy as heck with the radio. Will not be going back anymore. Tired of the noisy radio.its just disruptive when I'm trying to have a conversation. Wait a minute. I guess that's the logic. Well the staff here was friendly and the washroom was clean. It was busy when I came so I figured they were doing something right. I've come to love custard tarts so I grabbed a few to bring to my friends place before I even tasted it. They looked really good so I just said whatever, lets grab 8 of them. The pastry was flaky and I can't say the custard wasn't tasty because it was but for me, it was just a little too sweet. The flaky pastry, I loved but only with there was a bit more of it. There was almost too much custard filling. Price was good at $1.20 a tart. Perhaps if I go there again I will try other options but grading just on what I saw and the custard tart, I've got to say I've had better. read more

When I'm in North York it's the first place I head for lunch! It has to be said that Caldense Bakery in North York is THE BEST bakery I have EVER set foot in!! amazing sandwitches, amazing pastries, and the staff is awesome!!! Prices can't be beat!!! Only downfall is that they don't have a location in Burlington! read more
