Now the food is very controversial for me because it's all crafted really nicely with a lot of imagination, but it didn't hit the spot for me, their crab chawamushi is an acquired taste, so is the duck with chocolate sauce.

I happened to pass by Bugatti Bistro on my daily walk and spotted a sign for Lasagna Wednesday --…read moremy interest was immediately piqued. We booked a reservation in advance through OpenTable to make sure we'd have a spot, and the process was quick and easy. Upon arriving, we were greeted and seated right away. Our server, who was doing double duty as host, was charming and friendly throughout the meal. Since we'd mentioned in our OpenTable request that we were there for the lasagna, he suggested a couple of starters and brought out water and bread with aged balsamic and oil -- yum. We went with the calamari, which was flash-fried to perfection. I'd been angling for the Caesar salad but got overruled by my wife -- no complaints there, though; it did not disappoint. Since our order was already set from the reservation, we skipped the menu entirely, and the lasagna arrived shortly after we'd polished off the calamari. Calling it one of the top two lasagnas I've ever had is not an exaggeration -- completely decadent, exactly what I'd hoped for, and worth the few days' wait to get a table. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu along with a cortadito for me and a macchiato for my wife -- again, outstanding. My wife pulled up the full menu on her phone while we waited for dessert, and everything looked great, so we'll definitely be back to explore more of it. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and impeccably clean. You'd never guess this place has been in business for over 40 years -- it's clearly been well cared for and updated over the years. This spot is officially in my regular rotation. To management: you're doing a phenomenal job with your waitstaff, kitchen, and upkeep of what's clearly a neighborhood gem.

First time trying some of the "Taste of the Gables" specials that I didn't know about until June of…read morethis year. This one is the first I tried and wasn't aware it was right next to Bulla which is another one on the list. Anyways, for $50 I got to order an antipasto, but me pasta and a dessert. First of all, the service here is top notch and they're very diligent. Started with a glass of Pinot Grigio and opted for these options... Antipasto: caprese. Simple yet fresh and made with high quality ingredients. That burrata was to die for to be honest. The olive oil has to be imported because you can tell it was made in a Tuscan hill somewhere in Italy, I think. But yeah you get the point...delizioso. Entree: Linguine con Frutti di Mare. Delicious seafood pasta with clams, calamari, shrimp tossed with linguine in a white wine clam sauce and tomatoes. Again, fresh ingredients without a doubt. And you get the regular portion. Dolci: cheesecake. It wasn't memorable to be honest. A little strawberry drizzle on the side didn't elevate it either so I'd just order a different one next time. The place attracts more of an older crowd and I see why. It's not super aesthetically pleasing to those who prefer the more boujie joints but sometimes less is more.

I have come here a few times, usually dropping in at the window for a to-go latte. Parking is…read morenearly impossible as the lot is tiny and available street parking is extremely limited. Inside it's just as small as you can imagine. So after driving around looking for parking, there is still a 97% chance you may not have a seat available. Sure there's some (2 or 3?) outdoor tables but it's usually either raining or too humid to be outside. On the slim chance you can sit inside, there are two tables and a long bar where they make the food (read: lots of smoke, noise and uncomfortable seating). In my last visit, sitting at the bar, I was informed there is a no-laptop policy. Cool, I get it--you don't want people camping in. So I take out my phone to check emails and I receive dirty looks from the staff. Whatever, but the worst thing was that the croquetas I ordered were absolutely atrocious. They tasted weirdly fishy, like bad recycled oil. The pastelitos looked a bit sad and over baked so I passed on them. It was stranger because on my first ever visit the croquetas were fine but this time-- I gagged. The coffee is fine but the rest is overhyped.

We get to the restaurant, and find its closed for remodeling for a while. I was pretty upset as I had paid $25 to get us here and now had to quickly find a place to eat breakfast before the start of our cruise. I am sure some would say, well you can't blame a restaurant for being closed. I mulled that over and believe I can. They have a facebook page (granted it has not been updated since 2020), they could have announced they were closed. Since I was researching restaurants, I would have seen it and thus saved me time and money, which are both precious while you're on vacation. It's a customer service thing...
