Saturday night in August - the place is packed. There is a DJ and it is fairly loud. We had a table inside near the large windows overlooking the outdoor patio. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We started with the "Flaming Saganaki" (appears to be the signature appetizer as a ton of other tables have the same thing). It is very good. Crusty on the top and gooey toward the bottom. The bread that is served with it and very good as well. We matched it with glazed carrots. The carrots were really good - nicely sauced and soft without being mushy. We then shared and Insalata pizza. Again, it was really good! Crispy and chewy dough, a good amount of toppings, and very flavorful. For dinner, we shared the Ribeye Chop and Paccheri (pasta). The ribeye was cooked to perfection and tender. Met out of town friends we had not seen in a very long time. Got there around 6:30 and were seated quickly....with a speaker blaring club music at our table which would have made easy conversation impossible. Asked to move and they put us directly under another speaker. The music was overwhelming there too. Moved again and little changed. Our guest arrived and quickly commented on the music. Conversations the rest of the night were difficult due to the loud music and people having to talk even louder to overcome it. Turn it down....its not a club. The food and service were both very good. The fireworks in a building are dumb and dangerous. A few times the sparks were hitting the light fixtures and furnishings...which looked to easily flammable. We actually noted the nearest exits in the event of a fire. The incident at the Swiss ski chalet was referenced a few times. Is the place a restaurant or a club? Again...food and service were good. Not sure we would go back due to the ambience. read more

The food was phenomenal. The ambience was great but waited about seven minutes to be greeted our table was outside. Where we sat the table very dirty, not wiped down and then when I asked about a certain drink on the menu the server was like; I don't know what that is so I said oh OK so then I ordered something different and then that took 12 minutes to get to my table. I think I had my appetizer before my drink got there. So yeah we go back maybe but maybe ask for a different server or sit at the bar. read more

The aesthetic factor to this beautiful hotel cannot be overlooked! Wow! It is gorgeous! Very hip and laid back yet refined. Lots of greenery and restaurant completely opens up to the outdoors on any given day being that the weather is usually great here! They call the menu coastal but it's mostly made up of Greek and Turkish type cuisine. It is great if you're a vegetarian but it has a little of everything....thin pizzas made from scratch, homemade pastas and fish, meats etc...you can even choose a sort of create your own charcuterie board This place opens early 7am for breakfast and leads into brunch till 3. We were planning a trip to Scottsdale for -- wait for it -- a bachelorette party (shocker, I know). With such a large group, options were limited -- especially Mother's Day weekend. We arrived Saturday promptly at 11:30. The restaurant took us about 15 minutes to seat us, but offered us the bar to wait. The decor is gorgeous. Ambience was loud and boisterous. While we waited, we saw mouth-watering dishes come out of the kitchen, which influenced our meal choices. We started by sharing the hummus, which came out with a large, warm piece of bread (almost like a tiny flat loaf). The spread itself had a really interesting mix of spices, salt, and whole chickpeas. It was outstanding. I had coffee and a veggie version of the Turkish eggs, which comes with avocado, chile fried eggs, whipped yogurt, radish, pickled onion, and pita that tasted like it had been roasted over a wood fire. The melding of flavors was incredible. Others at the table also enjoyed the huevos rancheros and the pancakes. Total for 7 people with a few cocktails and coffee and tip = $350, or about $50 per person. Pricey for brunch but the food quality was on par with some of the better brunches I've had. Service was good but a bit indifferent, and not outstanding. Maybe because it was a busy day? I would recommend this spot, but know that it'll be pricier for some. read more

We were in for dinner and was seated on the patio which was lovely! The space is beautiful and zen with natural tones, lots of seating and a very fresh feel. The drinks were amazing, I went with the spicy mango margarita- it was delicious with the spice cutting through the sweetness of the mango, my bf opted for the vodka passion fruit cocktail and also enjoyed it very much! Food wise we shared the cauliflower, meatball, salmon and carrots. The servings are generous! The cauliflower and meatball was definitely the star, the carrots were nice and sweet but a little fiborous. This is my second time coming here and second time being disappointed. The staff is very mediocre and the food itself and presentation is questionable. I went with a large group and the only decent food we got was the pizza, which we didn't come to a supposedly nice establishment for a slice of pizza. In addition to this, the staff does not appear to have time for you and lacks recommendations. Very disappointed that they were out of steak. We decided to get the chicken which luckily came with a hair in it because I would never recommend this to anyone. It was a small piece of chicken covered in sauce. It was my first time visiting Cala on a Wednesday night. It was pretty easy to find and is located inside Senna House. Valet is offered if you have a hard time finding parking. I like the openness and brightness of the restaurant. We opted to sit inside as they did not have a heated patio. We lucked out with our seating and were placed in a semi private area of the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered their roasted cauliflower and added salmon. They roasted cauliflower was okay, I thought it could have used more flavor or a little more of the sauce on the bottom. My recent experience at Cala this past weekend was great; my friends thought so too! We were celebrating our friend's bridal shower and decided to do brunch at Cala. The first thing that caught our attention was the decor of the place. Just beautiful!! Really well done, simple but elegant. The restaurant was not very full at 11 when we were there but people started coming in and it became busier closer to 12:30-1pm. We ordered multiple dishes from the menu, including Cala Turkish Eggs, their chicken tostada, burger, and a chicken sandwich. We also ordered some drinks, mine being a mocktail, not on the menu. I just asked for something fruity, sweet and delicious! Our order came out pretty quickly which was a pleasant surprise. The presentation of food was definitely beautiful. My order was the Turkish eggs, which basically was a combination of smoked salmon and yogurt, topped with two fried eggs, and some pita bread on the side. It also had a lot of sesame on top. My dish was good. The flavors worked well together however, the sesame was very overwhelming for me, especially since I don't particularly like it. The bread was super delicious. While I would have loved to give this dish a 5, it really is a 4 for me. The drink however was delicious! I would have ordered another one but I wanted to have coffee. All the other dishes scored pretty high with my friends. Service was attentive. I asked for a coffee after my meal and it was really good. Ambience was just great! We sat outside and the weather was fantastic for outdoor dining. Music was really nice so overall, we had a great experience. I wanted to love Cala but left just short of satisfied. We had a reservation for a Saturday dinner and it was packed! It took us about 10 minutes to get seated (even with the reservation). FYI, valet is $11 right outside of the restaurant. Convenient, but a bit pricey with no option to validate. Upon first entering, the ambiance of the restaurant was BEAUTIFUL - gorgeous, beachy Tulum-at-night vibes. The music was loud, as it was a weekend night. Unfortunately we got seated right under the speaker in a very crowded, high-traffic area next to the bar. It was way too crowded for our party of 3. Two out of three times a server or customer passed me, they kicked my chair... We started with the tuna tartare and it tasted great! The fish was fresh, the sauce was citrusy, and I loved the texture brought on by the pistachios. The pita crisps got lost amidst all of the topping, leaving me wishing for something more substantial to serve as a "vessel" for the tuna. Next we had the feta tzatziki, which I wasn't impressed with. The dip itself was tasty, though the vegetables on the side were a confusing addition. The vegetables were sliced in huge wedges, nearly an inch thick, and the radishes were quite bitter. Maybe slicing some veggies thinner or rising off the radishes would have been a more appetizing prep strategy. The lumache a la vodka pasta was the best among the entrees we ordered. The sauce was creamy, savory, and addicting. I would go out of my way to order takeout from Cala if the pasta tasted this way every time. The Jersey pizza was pretty unremarkable (could order something similar at a pizza delivery place). The lobster ravioli was alright. It generally tasted good, but the mushrooms we received were nearly raw which was unappetizing. I think overall, all of the dishes we had were generally good but missed the mark in some major way. I hope the kitchen staff takes some time to review recipe development and recipe consistency together. Our server was so nice and friendly, but the overall vibe was just too busy to actually enjoy dining. People kept knocking into my chair the whole night and a different server kept taking our dishes away as soon as we finished the last bite of the main portion of the dish (despite still having sides on the plate that were not yet finished - it was odd and felt rushed). I might try this place out for brunch or on a weeknight, or I might just come back for the vodka pasta. read more

I've been here two different times; once on Easter Sunday and one time on Mother's Day. Each time the best thing about the place was the live music on the patio, but also the ambience. However, the food isn't good whatsoever. Even my 20-year-old daughter agreed with me. You don't come here for the food. Trust me on that one. Two times in a row, food was such a letdown. I'm planning to see my niece who's coming to town in a couple of weeks I get to pick the restaurant place and I really wanted to be able to come back to this place but it's not good at all.
