    Lamb and Beef Gyros
    Audrey I.

Truly a no-frills Mediterranean restaurant: you order at the counter, receive your food in a little under 10 minutes, and chow down on pretty decent gyros. I had the lamb and gyros plate which also comes with white sauce, spicy sauce, rice, pita, and a side salad at a pretty decent price. It's pretty comparable to Halal Guys with the exception of the less generous and less flavorful portion of meat Cal Gyro dishes out.

Delishhh I really liked my gyro. I also really like the outdoor seating and how there are a lot of restaurants to pick from in the area, something for everyone in your group!

WHEN: 01-11-22 So this was an interesting experience. It was night time and I hadn't eaten all day. For some reason I was craving a gyro, and this was the first place I thought of. I came to the restaurant, and there was an incident that needed police attention right next to the restaurant! So when it was my turn to order, I was being interrupted by constant screaming. Luckily the staff was patient with me and the situation. But, definitely not the restaurant's fault! I ordered a lamb and beef gyro wrap and a can of Sprite. When I opened my wrap, it looked like a burrito! Burrito was okay, although a little cold. Some parts of the lamb and beef were tough and dry. Can of Sprite to wash it down was refreshing. Interesting day to say the least!

Kindest owner on the planet and best Mediterranean food in Berkeley. I typically eat here after big exercise days, for flavor and substantial protein rich meals. This place can be overlooked because of how deep it is in the food court, but I promise it's worth your time to give it a try. I strongly recommend the Kebab combo listed in the picture!!

$14.66 for a decent gyro wrap and a bottle of mango lassi. Not the best gyro I've ever had, for that much it should be.

The restaurant is fairly small with probably about a half a dozen tables, etc. The owner was very polite, and thankfully very patient with us for a friends lunch. We originally had plans for another restaurant, but this location, etc. worked out. Everyone spent quite a bit of time catching up, and we were made to feel at home. I ordered a side of fries for a shareable at the table. I found the fries to be very underwhelming and needed more seasoning and considering that it's seven dollars for a side of fries the serving was pretty mediocre. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro plate. The side salad was very fresh and had a light vinaigrette dressing. I would have liked for the dressing to be more of an actual vinaigrette flavor. The rice was light and fluffy, but again, lacked seasoning/flavor. The side of yogurt sauce, was tasty, but did not hit the spot. Why? Because it really lacked the flavors. Notice a theme? I will say, the meat was tender, and it had a really nice flavor to it. It was delicious enough that it was very difficult to differentiate between a lamb flavor versus a beef flavor. It all tasted good together. The soft drinks are rather pricey. It was around $3.50 for a bottled Coke. Yikes! When we were done with our meal, we were served complementary hot tea. It was a nice touch.

We had ourselves an early dinner around 3 PM and he said the restaurant had just cleared out. Apparently they were packed for lunch!! I should've taken a picture of the items we ordered for the appetizer since it was a three portion combo plate, but the pictures are below! Ambience was very relaxed and I really like how there was a half steps down into a little patio area so it seemed like you were almost underground, but you could see out. It was cute watching people walk their dogs and families ride their bike bikes. I will definitely want to come back here and get and buy more dishes!

My wife's 70th birthday happened at the end of January, 2026…read more We have eaten at Troy many times and always enjoyed the entire experience, so she decided to investigate Troy's catering options so there would be meat and vegetables options to suit all our guests' preferences, with the obvious bonus that all the choices would be equally appealing because Mediterranean food is awesome! Husam was our main contact and assisted us with making our choices, and Iris was very helpful in ensuring that our pickup time was adjusted to fit the busy schedule that we had on the morning of the party. She also confirmed our request for extra Red Chili and Jalapeno Garlic sauce. For those curious, the Red Chili sauce is the milder of the two, but both are savory and great on almost anything! Here is what we ordered, which was anticipated to feed 40 guests: 1 Full Tray of Moussaka 1 Full Tray of Pastitsio 2 Combo Appetizer Trays 1 Chicken Souvlaki 1 Beef Souvlaki 1 Lamb Souvlaki It was an immense amount of food, and it was all DELICIOUS. The souvlaki disappeared first, and both full trays of the Moussaka and Pastitsio received significant dents! The appetizer trays had large falafel balls that were thankfully cut in half, dolmas, a mountain of pita bread, and multiple pint containers, two each of hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, and the Red Chili and Jalapeno Garlic sauce. The pickup from Troy was a breeze, and we absolutely lucked out by getting a parking spot directly in front of the restaurant on Solano, which anyone who lives locally will tell you is no small feat on a Saturday morning! Husam kindly helped me carry everything out to our car. My one suggestion to anyone who is ordering catering, especially if you get a half or full tray of either the Moussaka and/or Pastitsio, bring a baking sheet to support each tray. While the trays are made from thick aluminum, the weight will make the bottom sag a little, and it will likely be too hot to support with your bare hands. All our guests raved about all the food, and we are still happily enjoying leftovers of everything for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a week and after! Husam, thank you and Iris SO much for all your help! We are deeply grateful, and we look forward to seeing both of you again! "Zoi mas!"

I got an assortment of Turkish delight and some pistachio baklava ($2.99). The Turkish delight is sold by weight across all the varieties and goes for $16.99/lb. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and offered us a sample of one of the flavors to try which I thought was a nice gesture. Everything looked so good, so we picked a couple different pieces of Turkish delight to try. To my surprise, my favorite ended up being the saffron, though rose petal with pomegranate and sour cherry with pastachio were close seconds. I didn't like the coconut or the chocolate one that much, so reminder to myself to skip those next time. After picking up the dessert, I did a quick circle around the store to see what they had. I've ordered a beer while waiting for my clothes to dry and was welcomed to sit with my dog on the back patio. The atmosphere is warm and accommodating. The market itself is a treasure trove: shelves filled with Middle Eastern dry goods, nuts, dried fruits, spices, blends, and condiments you can't find anywhere else. Kofta, shish kebab, falafel, sumac, garam masala -- it's all here. They also carry pita, lavash, labna, and other breads and yogurts that make cooking from scratch feel like heaven. Bonus points for the large assortments of delicious house made baklavas! Even without a full kitchen, the prepared foods are excellent. I ordered falafel, eggplant dip, hummus, and cucumber salad from the to‑go counter -- a mini feast for $26 that didn't disappoint. **Verdict:** Courteous service, respectful staff, and a fantastic selection.
