Matt even agreed to go on the roof to double check the dryer vent and found lots of lint under the cap--so glad I asked! And, he tightened the connection to the dryer vent, which hadn't been installed well. The heating vents were also dirty even though we just had them cleaned a few years before. Disconnect in communications w/4 different people trying to coordinate a simple request to do as they advertise & accept their offer -$149 Vs $169 to inspect, clean, repair, if necessary, one small flue in bedroom for an unused fireplace & primary fireplace & flue in living room. Technician Alex took under 30 minutes (of one hour expected) to clean out the living room fireplace then tell me I should go to Home Depot to buy some sealant for a few minor cracks in the brick in the fireplace. I'd love to give them the 5 stars they've repeatedly asked for but that would be disingenuous to the clear & unequivocal request & offer expecting them to honor. read more

I recently moved into a condo and needed the chimney inspected and cleaned. I reached out via the Thumbtack app. They gave me a quote of $199 for a chimney sweep, inspection and fireplace cleaning, and had availability the next day. This quote was a better deal than I was getting from a couple of other companies and most importantly, had availability soon. So I scheduled my appointment for the next day. The technician texted and let me know if he was his way. He showed up on time. He was professional and followed Covid guidelines (wearing a mask, stood 6 ft away). The service was performed on schedule and the technician was polite and diligent in going about the work :) That said, the equipment they used leaves much to be desired. They do not have the duct cleaning apparatus that professional providers use: large vac in a truck so the noise is outside and a duct cleaning head that has the brush and vacuum lines integrated into a unit that seals the duct off so no dust escapes from the vacuum system. This provider used a jury-rigged set-up that does not work very well. The small round brush they use to lift the dust from the inside of the duct was in very poor condition, and because the brush and vacuum were not integrated, the brush was not well controlled (centered) inside the duct so I wonder how well it was actually lifting the particluates. Also, he did not have different brushes for different duct sizes. I would not use this provider again for these reasons. Ask for a provider that uses a vacuum truck and integrated brush heads with and the vacuum line so the brush is centered in the duct and the vacuum head seals the duct off to ensure all the particulates are captured and not blown into the system. read more

Found Cal Duct Cleaning on Yelp, messaged them and they responded right away. gave me a quote and an option for an appointment within a couple days. They were perfect, showed up early too (called to make sure it was ok ) everything went smooth, they cleaned the fire place, chimney and grate. After they gave me a run down on what they did, and some pointers on what to look for indication of the fire place getting clogged or dirty. SO far so good on the fire place.
