Flavor wise, the frostings did have kind of a chemical taste and the cakes didn't have much flavor. I also picked up macaroons and frosted cookies there too. They also looked beautiful but lacking in flavor, just tasted like sugar. I think the prices are a bit higher then other places as well, so I expected both flavor and design to be equal. Ordered cute cake for my grandson. Small round was $65. Way too costly for what i got. Tasted good except the 'stickers' which were supposedly edible i felt in back of my throat like i was gonna choke. I didn't want the sticker kind of design either for $65! I picked two 8" cakes yesterday, 5/22/23 for an appreciation meeting for a long-term President for CenCon, (Centennial Council of Neighborhoods). The quote I got by email before coming to town went up 50% when I said I wanted it to look the same as the picture on the website cake. I was told that actually decorating the cake costs extra. The finished product was pretty but no more inspired than a grocery store cake. While on vacation, we stopped by this location. I am always on a hunt for bakeries while traveling, because I am that much of a sweet tooth. We tried a variety of things- two chocolate chip cookies, a peanut butter cookie, a lemon bar, and a very pretty cupcake decorated with an icing flower. EVERYTHING was tasty. The cookies had crunchy edges and soft centers. The lemon bar was the perfect combo of sweet and tangy and it has a buttery crust. The cupcake was superb. Moist vanilla cake, and the icing/frosting was perfectly sweet and not gritty. They had photos in albums of cakes they had made for special order, and every one was gorgeous. Many of our guests wanted to know where the cake was from. A friend of mine picked it up the cake and delivered it to the restaurant. The staff at Cakeheads was very helpful with making sure it was loaded into her car properly. I was looking for special birthday cake for my 70 year old mom. I thought that this place was going to deliver the job but what a BIG mistake! They charged me $375 for a cake that didn't even looked like they put any effort into decorating or trying to make it look good. My 5 year old daughter, probably could have done it better. The cake itself is a 4/5 but the service is awful. Placed my order online on 9/5 for a 9/6 pick up. I was given the option of which location to pick up from and selected the 82 Inverness location. I received an email confirmation confirming my order including the pick up location. Upon arriving at the pick up I was told they no longer have cake there and all pick ups are 5+miles (~20 min in traffic ) away. They call the other location and confirm my order is "almost ready" and will be done when I get there. Upon arrival I'm told they had not made the cake because my card didn't go through. My bank has no record of that but let's just say cakehead is correct.. why not call your customer and let them know?So in sum between having to drive there and back it took 45 minutes to pick up my cake and nothing more than a "sorry about that". It's sad that I have to give them a bad review. I thought the cake tasted amazing! We did chocolate cake with Oreo frosting. That part was great. However, the design and wording on the cake is where everything went wrong. We worked with Morgan and I stressed several times on the spelling of my son's name. When my husband picked up the cake he never really looked it over to notice they misspelled his name and did not put happy birthday on it. We drove from the other side of town to get this cake. Going back to have it fixed was not an option. They offered me $5 off or a $10 store credit. Honestly, if you couldn't get it right the first time, why would I come back again.
