I'm no expert on Cajun food, but the gumbo was very good. Also, the cornbread and apple butter really complimented the gumbo nicely.

The food is good, I particuarly enjoy the "California Eggs Benedict". Can get crowded if you come in at the wrong time.

We ordered two omelets with home fries, the home fries on one the orders had human hair. When we calledCajun kitchen the person who answered had bad customer service, I had told the girl wanted to speak with a manager and she then got someone else on the phone that wasn't the manager. Then I told the girl I need to speak with a manager. Finally got the manger and expressed my frustration regarding the the hair in my food. She apologized then basically said " are you sure it's not hair from the potato ?" My response was "No, it's human hair." The manager tried to explain how her staff wears proper hair nets. The manager was going back and forth with me regarding the hair. Finally, she said she would refund our order. We went to Cajun Kitchen with food to show the manger it was not potato hair. She refused to look at it after our phone convo trying to accuse me of lying. When we got the refund it was only for one of the food order not the complete order, due to hair in the food items. We both lost our appetite but was only refunded half. We will never order from Cajun kitchen again, bad customer service and constant problems with their food. This was the last straw. Hands down the worst seafood gumbo I have ever had the displeasure of trying to eat. A soup, not gumbo served in a dark brown water that had the flavor of burnt coffee and grill scrapings. The fish looked like scraps with cartilage and skin and the only other thing in it was small bits of green peppers and a miniscule bit of rice. Truly a crime to use the name Cajun.. only managed six bites and quit, they did not make me pay for the stomach ache. Run away, stay away.The management should be brought up on charges against nature , true pond swill. And I am trying to be accurate and fair but this is unconscionable to serve something this bad. read more

First of all, let me say this place was jam packed when I visited. Lots of families and couples seemed to be enjoying their big breakfast entrees. We were accommodated in a short amount of time considering the amount of people present. And, the servers were friendly and attentive. Then, why only 2 stars? Since the word "Cajun" is in the name of this restaurant, we thought: "Wow, this type of food must be their specialty." I ordered the seafood gumbo and my husband ordered the jambalaya. The gumbo was horrific. It was basically rice floating in water. There was no flavor, seasoning or salt in the broth. I tried to fix it a little bit with the condiments that were in the table but it was an impossible task. In addition, I never saw the scallops promised in the menu, the crab was imitation and my bowl had only two half shrimps. Ohh, and not okra at all (I mean gumbo means okra). The jambalaya was passable. Nice flavor made better with the condiments on the table. Good amount of shrimp but only tiny pieces (not slices) of sausage. I really wanted to like this place. I may be back to try the breakfast items everybody seemed to be enjoying (but that may take years). read more

Yep, this place has a good thing going, Cajun Kitchen Cafe is the KFC of the 80's back when it was still called Kentucky Fried Chicken. Fast food version of the south. These guys have a system and a menu that works and my opinion is... if it isnt broke dont fix it. HOWEVER, like KFC this is Fast food of the south. Not very Cajun. If you have been to New Orleans, or the South for that matter, you won't be impressed with this restaurant. The food is good and the staff is wonderful! Probably one of the best places to eat in Lompoc. The red beans and rice I ordered was not what I would expect from a Cajun southern menu. Almost as if the beans were just thrown on top of steamed rice. Also, French fries were frozen and cooked to order. The rest of my meal seemed to be frozen and cooked to order as well. Not really a fresh menu. I appreciated the attempt at cooking a Chicken Fried Steak but either do it or don't. There was no steak and what was offered was a heated up frozen breaded chicken patty with heated up canned gravy. Anyone who's been to Texas or LA would know right away that is NOT Chicken Fried Steak!! If you can't cook it, don't offer it! Service is great! The food was ok, just not great. Cajun Kitchen is one of my favorite brunch places of all time! I've been to the Santa Barbara locations a million times when I was living down there. I was in Lompoc this past weekend for a wedding and I was beyond ecstatic when I saw Cajun Kitchen across from the hotel we were staying at! I've probably ordered everything on their breakfast menu.. omelettes, scrambles, home fries, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, etccc everything! It's all amazing but the best part about it is your choice of toast that come with the breakfast plates! .. it's not the typical wheat, sourdough, or english muffin type of deal.. Go for the blueberry muffins! Those things are deadly!!! Me love you long time Cajun Kitchen! Ah! Except the beignets.. I have yet to try those. Don't worry, I'll be back! read more

Me Again the Central Coast Foodie with the most. Here at Cajun Kitchen, grubbing Breakfasts. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and my Wife had the Breakfast Sandwich with Ham. Food was pretty darn good. Usually the top 2 issues with Chicken fried steak are 1. Chicken Fried Steak is over cooked and is super chewy, and 2. NOT ENOUGH GRAVY. Well let me say this tym it is not an issue. The Chicken Fried steak is crispy and delicious. Plenty of Gravy. Everything was is delicious. My wife had no complaints about her Plate either except it was too big, But delicious. All that gives this place 3 stars the 4th is due to COFFEE SERVICE. Coffee service drags down soo many restaurants its amazing to me. But Cajun Kitchen has the Right Recipie. I am a coffee lover and i never saw the bottom of my cup. I thought this restaurant would be a safe bet and had high expectations it would be good because I have eaten at the one in Ventura and it has great food. I ordered the waffle combo with strawberries and whip. The eggs had very little flavor, like they were using an egg substitute. The waffle was awful. How can you make a bad waffle? Well they did! The fresh strawberries were not very fresh. I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone. read more

This rating is based on the two breakfast items we ordered: pork chop & eggs + egg white scramble with vegetables (no cheese). Our overall impression is that this place seems to mainly cater to the seniors: everything is so bland. We understand that one can add extra seasoning - there are in fact condiments on the table - but even our hash browns needed salt... Who doesn't put salt in a potato-based dish? My wife's egg scramble was a total disappointment too, it needed seasoning or at least some herbs for flavor. The salsa we asked for was fresh but again it didn't help. We seriously don't get why people rave about this restaurant... guess we'll have to try the lunch menu next time. read more

After a TERRIBLE experience at The Lompoc Restaurant, my husband Yelped for other places for some food. He came across this place and we figured it couldn't be any worse than what we just had and we love cajun. BEST DECISION we made! Despite being busy, we and our group of friends were seated promptly, drink and food orders were taken- with superb customer service I will add. After reviewing the many options, the items ordered among us were: 2 eggs and catfish breakfast (what I got), cajun burger, regular gumbo, seafood gumbo, and the ham and egg scramble. We all did a little picking off eachothers plates because the food was just that awesome, that and the portions allowed it. The service continued to be wonderful and we never saw our cups empty. What started off as a crappy day turned into a good one with great food, service and time. We will definitely be back! read more
