I was looking to get a decent priced tasty Bloody Mary and michelada and this was definitely the spot. In the past, I have eaten here a couple of times and haven't re-visited in a while so we gave it a shot. I love my bloody Mary's on the thicker side and they definitely delivered with a spicy, tangy kick. Although I do wish It was thicker, I appreciate that they gave you the option to make it spicier! I will have to say that this location is my favorite. I love that there are more seating options and I feel like the quality of food is much better than other Cajun Kitchen locations. For starters I recommend the yummy Beignets! They are always so warm and fluffy. Drizzle some syrup and it's just absolutely delicious! My go to always is the Apple Honey Pork Sausage breakfast. It such a tasty and filling plate. I absolutely love the Chillaquilles as well. It has the perfect crunch and spice that I love on my chillaquilles. I'm not a fan when it's too soggy. Cajun Kitchen has some seriously quality menu items. My Santa Barbara colleagues always praised this venue for having the best breakfast food in all of Santa Barbara, and once I got the chance to visit, its reputation preceded. The restaurant is subtle with its decor and focuses on bringing you the best culinary experience, it's all about the food here! Then again, I felt the morning cafe vibe right down to the sounds of the silverware being bussed. I was here on a busy day and it did take some time for our food to arrive, but nothing out of the ordinary. A friend has been telling me to try this place for years since I started supporting the local airport. However, although it's just down the street, they close at 2:30 PM and I think they used to close at 2 PM and I never got done early enough to try. So the day we lucked out and finished by 1, we ordered via the app and rushed over. Tons of parking and I see they're offering outdoor dining. I picked up 2 of the #2 veg burritos and an order of beignets takeout for me and Mom because they're easy to carry and got good reviews. They packed the burritos in paper and foil, the donuts in a #5 plastic case salsa and syrup in the typical #1 sauce containers. It was over an hour before I could get to Ventura (yes, I know they have one there, but I wanted to make sure my coworker actually went to a restaurant to get a lunch she deserved that she could expense). It was still warm when we opened up our food. Beignets are just sweet enough with only the powdered sugar. Mom needed the syrup but they are tasty donuts for a place that isn't a donut bakery. They're not very expensive and worth it. The burritos weren't hot anymore and between driving home and working, I didn't have a chance to eat much of it when it was hot, but from what I could taste, there's an herb in it that lends a really nice depth to the standard ingredients of breakfast potato, black beans, cheddar, salsa and egg. It was all very good. The beignets were the star of the show with the shrimp and grits a very close 2nd. They also added cheddar cheese (special request) to the scrambled eggs for the kids. They did an excellent job with the social distancing in the restaurant and the staff was very nice. This Cajun Kitchen Cafe location has always been a delicious way to start the morning. It can get pretty busy with a morning crush of students and locals, but it's well worth the wait to sit inside at the bar or at a table, or outside where the sun always seems to be shining. Usually the Omelet and Scramble choices are top-notch, but on our last visit we stuck with the Breakfast Classics and thoroughly enjoyed the Chorizo & Eggs, Chilaquiles, and Chile Verde. And with hot tortillas the dishes were all hot and delicious. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and our recent server Marquelia was helpful in getting us started, and made sure our coffee mugs were always full. Everything on the menu here is amazing. My two personal favorites are the chilaquiles and the blackened chicken cobb salad. Both the Calle Real and Hollister locations have such comfortable atmospheres and you never feel rushed. A menu like Cajun Kitchen's allows for countless non-repetitive visits. We were seated in about 10 minutes and our waitress was exceptional. She was very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the beignets and shrimp and grits and both plates came out nice and hot. Starting with the beignets they were flaky and delicious, just the right amount of powdered sugar and it melted in your mouth. For the star of this review, the shrimp and grits! The flavors in this dish hit you and it's amazing. With the eggs made to order on top you mix the andouille sausage, shrimp, and grits and you have a harmonious grouping that was meant to be indulged upon. I was in heaven! My only critique would be to maybe have less sausage in the dish so that the shrimp gets its equal shine! By far one the best places to get breakfast. I usually get the biscuits and gravy but switched it up for the French toast. I would highly recommend both of these dishes. However, the biscuits and gravy at Cajun Kitchen are the best in Santa Barbara. It's well priced, the gravy is seasoned to perfection, and the biscuits are so fluffy! Plus they add eggs to the top of the dish which really makes it stand out! Besides great food the service is good and the drinks are well made. One thing we love about this location is it's consistent. Sad to say but the downtown local is not. So if you are thinking about going to the downtown location do yourself a favor and drive the extra miles to one of the Goleta locations. read more

3.75 stars with room to grow for this family run, seems like all brothers and friends joint. The Veggie Scramble is a 3.75 star dish. A bit over cooked on the veggies, but the taste was all there. The Rancher Omelette was a 3.25 dish. Again, ingredients good, but the execution left it all a bit soggy. Maybe this being a relatively new place a has it still in training mode. Regular coffee is better than the latte. 4 Stars. Service is awesome and a real plus to attention. 5 Stars. The veggies seemed Beignets are a 4.25 star item. Enjoy them like a fancy waffle or crispy pancake. I'm confident this place will pull it all together and push the "Cajun" a bit more. I asked for a refund because I walked home with my food and my poached eggs were raw. There were raw whites all over everything when I split them open. I'm not really one to do this but it's my birthday and I don't have much to spend so I called and asked for a refund. I did get the refund so I'll give them that, but the manager was so rude to me. I had approached the situation as pleasantly as possible, it's not an easy thing for me to stand up for myself like that, but my eggs were raw! He tried to gaslight me by saying that's how poached eggs are, that I need to ask for them to be cooked all the way through... as an avid eater of poached eggs I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be cooked! The white are supposed to be set! And they sure as hell aren't supposed to be raw! Again I got my refund, and I love Cajun kitchen, but I will not be returning to this location. This was another recommendation that was given to me! First off, these portions are so hearty! I felt so bad that I couldn't finish everything! I ordered the Cajun Omelette which had sauteed sausage and peppers inside with a side of home fries and bread on the side. For the bread, you get the option of ordering toast, muffins, and cornbread. I love hot sauce so adding Tabasco on top of the omelette gave it that perfect kick. I was also pleasantly surprised with the cornbread. It wasn't dry at all and I was able to skip the butter. My friends got the Chicken Fried Steak and they said it was delicious so its safe to say that everyone was pleasantly surprised with their dish. The service was pretty solid too. After choosing to sit outside, I debated whether or not it was a good idea since it was in a blind spot where servers don't really go. Nonetheless, we weren't forgotten and our plates arrived in a timely manner. While the Hollister Cajun Kitchen is still my favorite in terms of entrees, the new Calle Real location is a refreshing relief for people willing to make the drive out there. I mean, where else are you going to get a good chicken fried steak out here? My friends and I came for a Saturday brunch, and despite being told that the wait would be 30-35 minutes, we were seated within 10. Apparently, no one hangs out waiting for their name to be called. The diner is spacious inside, with much more room between tables than at any of their Santa Barbara locations. If you're coming with a large party or have a medical condition that requires more accessibility, this would be the best Cajun Kitchen to go to. The menu is the same as the rest of the franchise, but the specials and sweet drinks at the coffee bar set it aside from the rest. Don't like your coffee black or basic cafe items? Try an ultra sweet caramel latte instead. The specials here when we were there included an andouille sausage benedict and a grilled turkey sandwich, which didn't sound particularly special. We went for Kitch classics instead: the tri tip benedict, two chicken fried steaks with cornbread, scrambled eggs, and home fries, and fried chicken and waffles. The quality here is very consistent -- I like that they use drumsticks and wing pieces for the fried chicken, personally, because the dark meat is delicious. Everything came piping hot and revitalized even the sleepiest of our table that Saturday morning. And, because it's the wonderful diner it is, everything was diner priced -- we each made it out of there having spent less than $20, including tip. I had the crab cakes benedict which was as tasty as it sounded and my partner ordered the fried chicken benedict which he was pleasantly surprised about. Both of us noted that the hashbrowns had a great balance; crispy but not burnt, and with great flavor. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we had ordered a coconut waffle to share.
