    Shrimp po boy
    Kyle C.

You gotta get the fried shrimp po boy with all the fixings. We also got the gator po boy but it was not fried gator but rather a whole gator sausage link. It tasted like a regular sausage. Po boys jut taste better with fried seafood. The counter staff was nice, the one girl was waving at everyone. It was pleasant to see. I found out they have another location that is open outside of just Friday/Saturday. I'm excited to visit their other location!!!!

    Beignets - disappointing

3 stars for the friendly staff and prompt food service. I got the beignets and my mother took home the jambalaya. I'm used to light, puffy and fluffy beignets and these left more to be desired. The taste reminded me of a sugar-free coffee roll - mostly just cinnamon and pretty dull. My mom seemed to like them though. On the other hand, she didn't like the jambalaya (and she's from the south). When she heated it up the house smelled of old hot dogs. She took a couple of bites and threw the rest away. Won't be returning, but our experience was okay.

Crawfish Pie and 10 oz Jambalaya. BOTH ARE SO GOOD!

Absolutely love this place! I have been to both locations and they never disappoint in quality or service. Although, I will probably only go to the Booth's Market one again if I were taking it to go, as it is a small stand with only 4 barstool seats. The food is amazing! There is no other place that compares to the flavor and quality of Cajun Kate's that I have found in the Philly area-- and I have tried a lot. You cannot go wrong with ordering because everything is delicious and fresh. The po'boy sandwiches are widely popular. However, I am a die-hard fan of their jambalaya. It is chock full of andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp. BEST jambalaya Ive ever tasted!!! Also, you cannot go wrong with their fresh, hot beignets. They are soft, classic, and delicious. Cannot rave about them enough.

Beignets - with cinnamon and delicious

Wow we did not expect amazing Cajun food in Booths corner, but Cajun Kate's did not disappoint! We got a muffaletta, jambalaya and beignets (and got collared greens, more jambalyla and red beans and rice to go for the next day ;). Everything was delicious and the owner, Kate is so nice! Any questions, just ask her and she can let you try a sample if you aren't sure of something. The beignets do sell out early FYI so get there around lunch if you want them. Seating at the counter is limited, but they have a few stools and take out is quick and they keep the line moving.

We finally got around to trying Cajun Kate's last weekend. Most of the time, the line is so long we just don't bother. This night, however, we were there late and everyone else was long gone. That's when they start announcing specials at all the booths around the market. After hearing an announcement about $2 off the jambalaya and a large size of the beignets for the price of a small, we headed over to Kate's to check it out. The beignets were great, although never having had one before, I didn't have anything to compare them to. They were freshly fried and coated with powdered sugar (which goes all over the place when you take a bite - might be a good idea to wear white next time!). I liked that they weren't super sweet like donuts. I didn't try the jambalaya since I don't eat shrimp, but my husband and daughter really liked it - apparently it has a nice heat to it. To get the $2 off, we had to buy the large which brought the 32 oz. size to $14. Not a bad deal - there's a lot packed into that container. Anyway, now that we've tried Cajun Kate's, we'll be going back. I have been trying to get my husband to try the Gator on a Stick and I would love to try the Muffaletta sandwich. Oh and Kate's parents were visiting from Tennessee while we were there so I had a nice little chat with them while I was waiting for my beignets... Being from the South myself, it was nice to hear some friendly Southern voices for a change!

A very generous and well seasoned portion of Cajun catfish fingers.

I was so happy when I got an email from Cajun Kate's announcing that they would be opening a 30 seat shop on Philadelphia Pike. I had read that they have been in that tiny stall at Booth's Corner for 10 years! If anyone needed a business expansion it's these guys, Don and his wife Kate. They have a devoted following because their food is legit. The gumbos, the red beans and rice, the oyster po boy and my all time fav the catfish fingers are addictive. Best of all with the expansion of the business comes an expansion of the menu. Ooooooooohhh I can't wait'

Close up of shrimp po-boy to go.

Consistently great. Not fine dining but fantastic food! Ambiance is 'delco' but food and service is great.

I was sad until he was telling me all the great things he purchased and how tasty the food was. I decided to spend more money in hopes that it would be all that he said it was. Well...you were right, my dear coworker!! I ordered 5 meals and have been pleased. Love the boil in a bag. Drop in for 30 minutes and it's ready!! The slow cooker times range from 4-13 hours depending on what you've purchased. They've got a large variety to choose from and it's worth the cost. I ordered about 12 meals for $187. So I'm super happy. They come in portions, I usually order two and it's enough to feed a family of 3 with a leftover for one person for lunch.

Stumbled upon What A Croc and thought…read moreit was a great concept and we are all about supporting small business, so we decided to check it out. We chose the 2 servings Chicken Pot Pie Stew. I figured $22.00 ($11.00 per serving) to feed just my husband and I was reasonable, considering the high cost of most goods. As we were making our way to the counter, that's when the woman working there asked if we had ever tried these before. I told her it was our first time. She then asked me if I had a round crockpot or an oval one. I told her we had an oval one and she said "you need three servings then or else it will burn". I was taken back by her attitude and it didn't sit well with me. So I responded stating that 3 servings was too much for us and that we wanted 2. She kept insisting that we get 3 servings and then began schooling me on the science of evaporation from food in a crockpot. After going back and forth I got irritated and told her that we only need 2 servings and the more she pushed me I was going to put the bag back in the freezer and leave. She changed gears and grabbed crockpot liners and told me that if we use the oval crockpot to put the contents of the bag into the liner and tie it up and then place in crockpot. I told her I had liners at home. My question is this...why offer serving sizes if not all crockpots will cook the smaller portions properly? Also, if there was a simple solution such as the liner, why was she aggressively pushing us to buy 3 servings at a higher price? Not cool. We aren't idiots and we definitely do not appreciate being treated as such. We put the 2 servings in the oval crockpot without a liner and it didn't burn!! Imagine that! We weren't pleased with the meal either. It was bland, the potatoes had a strange texture and it had absolutely no flavor...even with adding salt and pepper. I would be willing to try another meal, however, if that employee represents how What A Croc does business, then I will pass.

Who puts starch on a starch? Anyway, the crab quesadilla is amazing. The chicken cheesesteak will rival the best in the area (Mazzella's is the best, and they don't starch their frozen fries)...the boneless wings aren't as good as The Hideaway, but they're damn good.
