I have to say I was blown away by the down-to-earth service. The guys truly love what they do. I worked with Robert and he checked my AR9 and got right to work with me, as I needed my ejector to be aligned with the BCG and my Colt-style mag wasn't catching. I called after a few days to check in (he said the text didn't go through which is understandable) and said I'd have to try a different mag or BCG, which isn't an issue on his end. He took my gun for me and did a routine check, tightened my castle nut and end plate, and tightened the barrel nut and handguard while I had it with them, all for free might I add! Robert was kind enough to mark it as "No Work Done" when other gunsmiths charge $50 to HUNDREDS of dollars just for simple routine checks or torque-spec tightens! I am a gun owner, but not much of a technician. When two of my older firearms (a BC Miroku Charles Daly and a Colt 22 Huntsman) needed some repair, I visited the Cajun Gunsmith for the first time. I turned over the guns, fearful that I was going to have to burn a funeral pyre for my Miroku. It had become a single shot device during my last outing (no action for #2), and I could here parts rolling around inside. The repairs on that over/under are notorious and expensive. My Colt just needed some modifications to an aftermarket magazine, so it would properly eject. Today, I picked up my two fully-functional firearms, and owed the guys a fraction of what I expected to pay. No ridiculous fees or extra work... just a fair price for the work completed, which was thankfully minor. When it's time for the big job, I know who to trust. Now I just need this team to open an auto-repair shop. read more

New to the area, I had an urgent pistol mod that I needed "while-u-wait." Called one gunsmith, also in Plano, who said he was weeks out with work but might get to it in two or three days, probably $50-60, but wasn't sure because he thought he'd done one before and it was a lot more difficult than he thought it would be. So I called Cajun Gunsmith, he did some homework on what I needed, said "No problem, 20-minute job, $40 bucks, c'mon over right now." I did, and he was exactly right. Great guy, very knowledgeable and technically proficient, gets my highest recommendations. His outlook was totally positive, good listener, trying his best to make it happen for his customer, instead of whining about his workload, or trying to flush the customers who have smaller jobs that won't make him rich. He's a little hard to find, in the midst of some industrial multi-plex buildings. Look for the blue fleur-de-lis on the storefront. It's a Cajun thing. read more

Saved by talent of Mike at Cajun Gunsmith. While replacing a battery for my pistol the screw broke off when trying to remove the mounting. See photo. I didn't have the talent or tools to remove it but he did. Checked Yelp reviews for a gunsmith, found his business, called and he said he could fix problem. It took some effort but he saved the day and an expensive gun/red dot sight. While there he took a call from another customer needing work on his guns. Which gave me the idea to bring a new semi-auto shotgun to shop for help to disassemble my first time to clean. The manufacturer's manual doesn't explain it very well and there are no on-line videos to help. read more

Gunsmiths can be a challenge. Sometimes the customer service is lacking and sometimes the turnaround time seems crazy. That was not the case with Cajun Gunsmith. I am sure they get busy and probably can't always get things done as quickly, but I needed a competition trigger put on one of my handguns. Michael was extremely responsive, customer focused and the rates are competitive. Again, not to mention his turnaround was far shorter than other quotes. My gun jammed so I went to get some help after my neighbor and I were unsuccessful. When I walked in there was a very nice gentleman that proceeded to help me and as he was getting the gun u jammed he continued to clean the gun and explain each step to me. I didn't want to be rude and interrupt him so I just continued to listen. I guess he took it upon himself to think I didn't know how to clean my gun and maybe he thought that was that was reason it jammed in the first place. However the gun jammed because there was too much pressure from the clip so it needed to be broken in more or I needed to not to put the full amount of bullets in it. The gun had recently been cleaned so really didn't need it and I did not ask that the gun be cleaned. After all was done he said that would be $40. I paid it anyway because he was a nice well informed gentleman but if you decide to go there ask what they plan to do and the price so you're not surprised at the end like I was. read more

Update (5/4/2022): I've taken multiple firearms to Mike now, every time he either does the work same day, or in a timely manner. He is extremely knowledgeable in AKs and various other firearms, kit builds etc.. he's your guy. Prices are beyond reasonable for the service he and his staff offers. A great experience. Thanks to the yelpers whonswnt me here. Dropped my guns off for repair. One was a quick fish to attach a spring, another needed parts. Within a few days, I got a text about what needed to be done and asking if I wanted them to do the work. Yup! After a few more days, I got a text that it was time to pick them up. When I picked them up, I got a helpful tutorial about how the same part will eventually break again due to design and how to avoid it. This was such a stark contrast to another experience getting something repaired (see a different Yelp review this month) and made me thrilled to know good experiences still exist. read more

Aw man! Where do I begin? Such a great group of guys! Very knowledgeable, patient, and did AMAZING work! Like others mentioned, they do operate out of their home, but they had all the same equipment and tools needed for any task! And they did pretty quick work. My weapon was altered right then and there and still only took roughly 30 minutes to complete. My firearm was giving them a bit of a challenge or I'm certain it would have taken LESS time. And I've been super satisfied with the results! While waiting on my weapon, I listened (eavesdropped, lol) when they interacted with other customers in regards to their weapon. You know with some experts, how they speak using THEIR lingo that goes over your head? Not these guys. I love how they spoke in Layman's terms so pros and beginners alike could understand every detail they explained. Being a vet, I have a lot of experience with firearms, and even I learned a few things from listening. Great group of guys! Give them a shot! You won't be disappointed!
