Special 2-dungeness crab, 1/2 lb clams, deveined headless shrimp in house special sauce spicy
    Sho R.

I stopped by on a weekday for lunch. The place was not busy. They had good lunch specials. But I went for a Special 2-dungeness crab, 1/2 lb clams, deveined headless shrimp in house special sauce spicy. That was delicious. The sauce had a nice spice kick without being too spicy. Seafood was all fresh. Seafood boil is a messy food. They give apron, glove and scented tissues to take care of it. Still it gets messy especially because we need to crack open the crab legs. And it took me 90 minutes to finish my lunch.

My dad's favorite restaurant, he's convinced this is the best seafood boil in the bay. The interior feels like a ship with the wooden framing and jack sparrow statue welcoming you. Always a fun trip. The weekday lunch special is pretty good (I believe it's $12 for 1 lb of shrimp and a sausage corn and potato), but my dad loves crawfish so I don't often go for that. Crawfish prices depends on if it's fresh or frozen (fresh is more expensive). The spiciness of the house sauce depends on who is cooking it that day. My server this time told us that if you can handle 2x Buldak, you could handle spicy, but there's days that spicy is spicy spicy! Check with the server before ordering because your mileage may vary. The server was also really on top of getting us straws, wipes, napkins, gloves, etc. I'm a sucker for the deep fried and the soft shell crab and oysters here are great. I prefer the garlic fries (more flavorful) to the Cajun fries (more crunchy) personally. I need greens with every meal to lie to myself that I'm healthy so I ordered the salad. I like the veggies used but it's more sauce than I would like, I'd order sauce on the side next time!

This is in the spacious restaurant where Black Angie used to be in Milpitas. I got a seafood boil for $46 that included crab legs, mussels, clams, 1 corn, small piece of sausage and potatoes. It was very buttery that I spilled some on myself but not their fault I should have worn the bib. There's also free refills on soda in a to-go cup. The group near me got alcoholic drinks that looked good. The service was very fast and friendly!

Delicious seafood , especially the fresh shrimp and crab . Everything tastes amazing. A whole bag of seafood boil paired with corn and sausage goes perfectly together. The garlic noodles are also very tasty, though the garlic flavor is a bit too strong. Haha! Besides the fries and onion rings, I highly recommend their fried calamari. It has a great texture and isn't tough at all. Highly recommended, but try to avoid coming during peak hours because there will be a bit of a wait.

The seafood boil here is good but nothing stand out. Quality sauce and freshness of the seafood are all you need to have a good boil and the House Special sauce was slightly below average but the freshness of the seafood was fine. After all the glowing reviews I've heard about this place I did expect more, but overall I enjoyed my meal here. Pros - Good service and food came out quickly - Plenty of easy parking - Large restaurant, came on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of seats - Their happy hour deals look like a great deal Cons - I've had many different house special sauces in the area and this one lands slightly below middle of the pack. It was very one note and is pretty much what you would expect.

Cajun seafood, messy hands, and why spicy is the right choice If you're looking for Cajun seafood boil in Milpitas or the South Bay, this place delivers the kind of experience people expect: big room, lively energy, seafood bags on the table, and absolutely no attempt at elegance. Which is exactly how a seafood boil should be. The dining room is large and open, with rope-wrapped columns, nautical décor, and big circular lights overhead. It works well for groups, but if you're by yourself it's easy to grab a seat at the bar and settle in with a seafood bag. Beer helps. The seafood boil The main attraction here is the Cajun seafood boil bag. Shrimp, crab legs, crawfish, sausage - all tossed in garlic butter and Cajun seasoning. When the bag opens, the smell hits first: garlic, spice, warm seafood sweetness, and butter coating everything. This isn't delicate food. You peel shrimp. Crack crab shells. Sauce gets everywhere. That's the whole point. Seafood boils are meant to be messy. Spice level: go hot For the sauce, I always choose spicy - the hotter the better. Cajun seasoning really comes alive with heat. When the spice level goes up, the shrimp tastes sweeter, the crab richer, and the garlic butter carries more depth. It isn't just heat for the sake of heat. The spice actually amplifies the seafood flavor. If you like Cajun food the way it's supposed to taste, don't be shy about ordering it spicy. Fried catfish: clean, soft, and no muddy flavor The fried catfish here is worth ordering. Catfish can easily pick up that muddy, fishy taste if it's not handled properly. A lot of places struggle with that. This one doesn't. The fish comes out golden and crisp outside, soft and tender inside, with clean flavor and no off smell. The inside stays moist and delicate, almost buttery. Just good fried fish. Shrimp po'boy The shrimp po'boy sandwich is another solid choice. Large shrimp, fried properly so the outside stays crisp while the inside remains juicy and tender. No rubbery texture. The bread is soft with a light toast, holding together shrimp, lettuce, and tomato in the classic Louisiana combination. You get three textures in every bite: crispy shrimp soft bread fresh vegetables Simple and satisfying. The vibe This place isn't trying to be refined seafood dining. It's about energy. Friends sharing a seafood bag. Beer on the table. Garlic butter on your hands. Paper towels disappearing quickly. That's exactly the environment Cajun seafood belongs in. Dr. C note A proper seafood boil should leave evidence. Shells on the table. Seasoning on your fingers. And a cold beer nearby to handle the spice. If that happens, the system is working.

This place is pretty good, I love that they offer the shrimp deveined and head off as it saves some work for me. I always make sure to get extra sauce on the side as I like to dunk my shrimp in it. Medium spice is enjoyable but not spicy enough in my preference for it to be medium. Food is always yummy, hot, and comes out pretty quick even when it's busy. The entire staff is great and friendly. It's usually pretty quiet, which I enjoy. If you visit on a weekend after 5 be ready for a lengthy wait! Only complaint is the bathrooms as they could use some love. There's a foul smell in the hallway leading to the restroom but not the restroom itself..?. It's usually unkept, the soap dispenser is broken, toilet paper was stacked on top of one another, and no paper towels... avoid it if you can.

The food was surprisingly so good here. The shrimp was big in size, not overcooked, and the sauce was really flavorful but also the perfect medium spice. My friend who is the spice queen said their tongue on fire spice level was actually the spiciest she's had! The garlic noodles were also sooooo garlicky and buttery and packed with flavor we ended up ordering double on those. The fries were good but lacked some Cajun flavor and felt it was a bit too crispy for me. Overall the place really hit the spot. It's a big place and can fit a lot of parties, we were able to put our party down on the waitlist beforehand. One complaint is that the bathrooms are dirty and poorly maintained, they didn't have toilet paper in the holders and lacked any paper towels after washing your hands. Also wish they had more sink stations.

Combo 3 with four pounds of seafood.

We took a drive out to Milpitas to give this Cajun spot a try. Inside was cavernous with lots of seating along with a Pirates of the Caribbean (aka Captain Jack Sparrow statues) and nautical theme. There was a couple staff at the front and one gave a quick overview since we were ordering to go. Menu featured a variety of options including raw oyster, appetizers, fried foods, po'or boys and sliders, and combo boils. It took a bit over 20 minutes to deliver our order and they threw in some useful plastic gloves, bibs along with forks, paper trays and some sauces. We went with the large combo (posted on the entrance but not in the menu) that came with four pounds of seafood (whole shrimp, mussels and crawfish), corn, potatoes and sausages. Headless and deveined shrimp were extra charge if one so opted. The house special sauce had good flavors and the seafood large, meaty and not overcooked. The fried choices we ordered were a mixed bag. The calamari was disappointing with a very dry, bread like coating and a limpy consistency. Not the texture we expected. The sweet potato fries were cold by the time we got home so not the best. The onion rings was the only fried dish that stayed crisp and crunchy. The last side was the garlic noodle and it was balanced with lots of chopped garlic and not oily like we've had as other similar restaurants. Definitely . Overall double bagging of the boil kept things warm and without leaks. The paper packaging was flimsy and didn't do such a great job keeping the contents warm and needs improvement. The boil, noodles and onion rings pulled the rating up to a 4 star.

Place 1/5: smells horrible outside, restrooms are gross (no toilet paper, dirty floor, no paper towels), no hand wash sinks Service 4/5: forgot our bibs Cajun fries 3.5/5: crispy, more seasoning Cajun curly 4/5: found no where else, more seasoning Garlic noodles 5/5: lots of garlic, bouncier noodles, seasoned well, also add lemon and your sauce!!! Pound of shrimp, house sauce, tongue on fire 5/5: thx asz e best I've ever had bc it's the spiciest I've had, amazing flavor too, huge garlic

Love this place! Probably one of the best seafood boils around the SJ area, and their happy hour deals are amazing ($1.50 oysters!) We were seated right away on a Friday night, and our server was very helpful. I really enjoyed their "everything" sauce, and the mild spice level was perfect for me. The menu also offers a nice variety of options if you're not in the mood for a seafood boil. The only thing I'd comment on is that our oysters came out halfway through finishing our meal, even though they were supposed to be an appetizer. That said, I didn't mind too much since it was such a great deal.

Hands down this is my favorite place to have seafood boil, get my hands and face dirty. Sip on that dirty margarita with tajin on my rim. Lmao... it ain't dirty, it's so good. Service is always great. Not one person there ever fails to deliver every time my family and I show up. Had my birthday here last year and just celebrated our son's last weekend. Wish my mother was here, she loved seafood boil so much

I love a good seafood boil and almost always order crab when a place offers it. I've been to most seafood boil spots around the Bay, but this one had been on my list for a while. We finally came here on a Saturday to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. We ordered a whole Dungeness crab, snow crab leg clusters in the house special sauce, fried soft-shell crab, fried shrimp, Cajun fried rice w/shrimp, and garlic noodles. Overall, the food was pretty good, but definitely not the best I've had. The house special sauce on the crab was decent, but nothing mind-blowing. The fried soft-shell crab and fried shrimp were both good and probably the highlights of the meal. The Cajun fried rice w/shrimp was just okay. It included sausage, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. That was a bit odd, especially for people who don't eat pork. The garlic noodles were also just okay flavor-wise, but the biggest letdown was the noodles themselves. They tasted more like spaghetti rather than egg noodles, which didn't really work for me. Compared to other spots, Claw Shack in San Jose and Lemon Crab in Hayward are still my favorites. While the food here wasn't bad, it didn't stand out enough for me to go out of my way to come back.

One reason is that I don't live in the San Jose area anymore, and another is that there are now so many seafood boil spots around since Boiling Crab really started the trend. One positive right away: there was no long wait. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately, which was great. I remember the days when we'd have to put our name down and walk around Target while waiting for our table. I do wish they offered combo bags like a lot of other seafood boil places do now, since that's always a hit. Instead, we ordered 3 pounds of shrimp with whole-sha-bang sauce in mild. The shrimp themselves were great--nice and big, not the tiny peanut-sized ones you sometimes get. The flavor was also really good. However, the "mild" tasted much spicier than I remembered. From past visits, mild always had a small kick but was still pretty manageable. This honestly tasted closer to medium. My boyfriend politely asked one of the servers if he could get a small side of garlic butter because the sauce was spicier than expected. She immediately responded that it would be $5 for extra sauce, and the way it was said came off pretty rude. We understand that there's an option to make the bag "extra saucy" for an additional charge, but he wasn't asking for extra sauce for the whole bag--just a small side to balance out the spice. Even a simple response like "I'm sorry it came out spicier than expected" would have gone a long way. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, and I've always believed in "kill them with kindness." We weren't rude at all--we just mentioned that it seemed spicier than mild. In the end, we decided to just skip the extra sauce. Again, the flavor was still good, but to me this definitely tasted more like medium. When we got our check, a different server asked how everything was. My boyfriend mentioned that the sauce was spicier than mild, and she responded with, "Oh no, I'm sorry it wasn't exactly what you wanted." We told her it wasn't her fault since we had already mentioned it earlier, and she just gave us a sympathetic look. Overall, the food itself was good, and I'd probably give it a 4 for taste, but the lack of customer service knocked the experience down for me. I understand it was later in the evening and they still had a full lobby, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have made a big difference.

My party of six (three adults and three children) was told the wait time would be approximately 30 minutes. We ultimately waited about 40 minutes, which I understood given how busy the restaurant appeared. The concern began when multiple parties--around six--were seated ahead of us despite arriving later. After patiently waiting outside to avoid blocking the entrance, I approached the host for an update. She informed me that our party was considered "very large" and would require a longer wait. A party of six is not unusually large, and it became clear that our group had simply been overlooked. What was most frustrating was the lack of acknowledgment or apology for the oversight. The host seemed dismissive of my concerns and avoided engaging with us until I initiated the conversation. Ultimately, we were separated and seated at different tables, which further diminished the experience. Despite the seating issues, our server was attentive and provided great service. My party spent roughly $300, not including the additional 20% tip we left. Given the amount we spent and the loyalty we've shown on previous visits, I would have appreciated at least a simple apology or some acknowledgment from the host regarding the situation. Unfortunately, that never happened, and even when I asked for the manager's information to share feedback, the request was not taken seriously and never contacted the manager. My previous visit was handled with much more care and professionalism, and I left feeling valued. Our server that time was Tyler (Manager) I believe his name was. I hope future experiences reflect that same level of service.

We ordered a huge seafood boil with king crab legs on the side and fried rice, and we completely grubbed out. Everything was buttery, flavorful, messy, spicy, and exactly what you want after a night out. The fried rice was ridiculously good too and somehow became one of the sleeper favorites of the whole meal. Still can't get over the fact they're open until 4AM. We've literally talked about going back multiple times since. Such a clutch late-night spot.

The food here is a 10/5. Seriously, I've been eating crawfish regularly in San Jose for over 20…read moreyears and have never had a sauce like the Sweet California. It's so unique and addicting with a perfect sweetness to it that isn't overwhelming with a slight creaminess and not as savory as most other seafood boils. The crawfish they use is amazing as well, it must be a different kind from most others because the meat is more tender and sweet. I have no problem sucking the claw meat out where as other restaurants I have to dig inside the claw to pull out the meat. Soooo good and I visit as often as I can. Friendly service. They offer other food options as well like Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu, etc, but the seafood boil is so good that's all I ever get here. It's also open till 4am!!! Club and seafood boil after?

Everything is ordered through the kitchen but there is a sauce bar for all your saucy delights. This is a stone grilled bbq and was surprisingly easy to cook with. When they brought out our order, we were just in absolute awe at the presentation. They brought out our cuts on a gold cow with smoke come out the bottom with, I assume what appears the different cow cuts and where its located on the body? I could be wrong but it doesn't matter as they all tasted absolutely amazing. The meat itself was high quality and just melted in your mouth. We tried most of the various cuts and don't remember which ones we ordered but they all tasted amazing. Honestly drooling as I write this review and cannot wait to go back!
