These guys are honest hard workers. Our rental seems to be coming up on season in its life that it needs some maintenance and repairs, and we use Cahill for anything that comes up. Leaking toilets, slow draining sinks and tubs--they've taken care of it all, and always wear masks and keep our space tidy (and are very nice to my dog). Today they came out for a mystery leak. They figured out the problem, took care of it, and then told us they weren't going to charge for their work today because they had been out before and think they should have caught it earlier. It's refreshing that that's how they approach their customers and their business. We're sticking with them.

I picked them due to their immediate…read moreavailability, flexibility for doing two separate plumbing jobs on one visit, and positive reviews on Yelp. The work I needed done was the installation of a 50-gal electric hot water heater (plus haul away of the old one) and the diagnosis/replacement of a corroded waste line connector for a garbage disposal. When I set up my appointment, I made sure to clarify that I wasn't going to be charged for the service visit, or additionally, for any diagnostic steps. Keep this in mind if you're considering them because it's probably a better idea to go with a plumbing company that won't charge you just to come out and physically look at the work you want done. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry, not because something was broken, but due to the fact that completing the work quickly was pivotal to getting a condo sale to the finish line. I was able to schedule my appointment for as early as Monday despite making the initial contact with 2 Sons Plumbing on Thursday (they could've come sooner, but I opted to avoid the extra "rush" or weekend fees by waiting until Monday). One thing I didn't like about their business model is there's no upfront cost for general jobs (i.e., install a hot water heater) or any idea of hourly charges. For instance, with Lowe's and/or Home Depot, I could call and get quotes for this type of work from their subcontractors. Going through Fast Water Heater (Lowe's preferred subcontractor), a 50-gal water heater installation might run between $2,200 and $2,400 depending on the model of hot water heater (the purchase of which is included in the quote). I ended up buying a new water heater from Home Depot ($871 after taxes) a couple of days prior to my appointment with 2 Sons Plumbing, and hauling it up a few flights of stairs to the condo in order to save money. I would later find out that, had I bought the 50-gal electric water heater carried in the back of the 2 Sons Plumbing Truck, it would've cost $3600 (I have no idea why it was this expensive). In the end, I paid 2 Sons Plumbing $1870 after taxes for the installation of the Home Depot Water Heater and haul-away of my old one ($2700+ if you include the price of the hot water heater I bought on my own). In addition to the hot water heater install, I ended up paying for a new garbage disposal plus its installation because the corrosion in the waste line was so bad that new parts were needed (which they didn't have). It made more sense to just replace the whole thing (current garbage disposal was 10+ years old)--This came out to $786.88 after taxes and a 3% convenience fee for using a credit card. Overall, it was a good experience thanks to the knowledge/prep work I had done for 2 Sons Plumbing before going with them. The final cost to me certainly had the potential to be much higher had I let 2 Sons Plumbing provide or do everything. The job took about 6 hours to complete, and I paid in the ballpark of $2500 for the hourly rates (?) plus the purchase of a basic garbage disposal and a minuscule amount of parts. I overheard that the general hourly rate is $400, so what I paid aligns with that. The amount of contact and post-job follow up documentation I received (emails; texts; invoices; etc.) was thorough but also annoying (I.e., solicitation for reviews). All things considered, here's how I'd rate things: Availability/Communication: 5/5 Cost: 2/5 Technician: 5/5 Invoice/Follow-up: 3/5

The first quote I received was the price of a small, used car to repair a freeze damaged underground water line to my shop. The break was within 1 foot of where it daylighted from underground. At the price quoted, I was debating whether to repair it at all. I then got a quote from MV Plumbing, and it was 15.8% the amount of the other. That is not a typo, or 15.8% discount over the other quote, it was literally 1/6th the amount of the other company. Not sure if they used a different approach to the work or not. They showed up at 8:00 AM, and left at 8:50 AM, so you know they did not misquote the work to be done. I had installed a water meter, so could immediately verify the repair was proper and not leaking. Anyway, this is my 'Go To' plumbing company for sure, and another lesson in why we all need to get more than one quote whenever possible.

They then charged me 800.00$ gave me no receipt and didn't leave the box the faucet came in so I had no idea how to take care of it. I started getting estimates from different companies, and Wyatt from Piper's came out to see the scope of the work. Whenever hiring contractors I try to understand beforehand the work involved with the hypothetical if I had to do the work myself, that way when walking through the project with the person giving an estimate it helps me figure out the rough bound of what I think the project should cost in labor and materials and to help me catch if there's additional "work" or costs that get put into the bid. With this in mind, when Wyatt walked through the issues he saw and roughly the work involved to fix the issues, it was nothing but an accurate assessment. I felt comfortable bouncing ideas of what made sense to try and tackle in the scope of the repair and what might be unnecessary as there was no real sense of an upsell, just what seemed like honest, professional opinions. Time is money for lots of these companies, and sometimes estimates get rushed which happened in some of the estimates I received; but not with Piper's. They took the time to understand what my priorities were, what constraints there were, and give fair realistic suggestions. After accepting what I believed to be a very fair bid, they were able to schedule the work and came exactly when they said they would. My plumber was Wyatt with a secondary helper - both did a fantastic job and were great at what they needed to do, so only praise there. They were respectful, used shoe covers and moving pads so as to not track dirt on my carpet, cleaned up all the debris from the work, and showed great care in their work. They also were considerate of my requests to minimize the cuts into the drywall and whereas many other bids told me it was necessary to cut drywall in three different rooms for the work they took on the extra inconvenience and were able to keep all the cuts contained to just the bathroom. Time will tell how well the work holds up, but as of now I have the utmost confidence the work will last.

Counting the business owner, three plumbers came today. This time my initial request was to replace two faucets. The plumbers who came to give an estimate a week ago discovered that the cold water valve needed replacing. Notice must be given to building residents 3-4 days in advance of water shutoffs per my HOA rules. A few months after the first time I needed this plumbing company, a contractor working on remodeling my kitchen should have found the valve problem. But since he did not, the silver lining is the quality of the work by this company. I have complete faith that the replacement valve will work perfectly since they installed it. They showed me the plastic valve they replaced and how it would not turn at all. We all liked the faucets I chose for them to install. In the bathroom my glass waterfall faucet has LED lights to indicate cold, warm and hot water. After installing it the plumber showed me a video of the lights working before I went in to try it myself. The kitchen faucet is a Moen which looks nice to start with, and has some great functionality. As the handle is turned for the water the head floats down a little. Then it is possible to select an angle for the head to remain, for example 45 degrees. It will stay in the selected position while the water runs. The owner took a video for himself! Besides the top quality of the work, I appreciate the polite and respectful manners of the owner and all the plumbers.
