    Vegan platter for brunch
    Christian C.

Lovely Iranian cafe/restaurant with a wide menu for all meals, includes brunch section and traditional Iranian dishes for all dietary requirements. The vegan platter puts many brunch places to shame, and if I'm permitted to rant on this app is that the worst thing a restaurant can do is to serve chia pudding and oatmeal as the only vegan brunch option on a menu that's full of stacks of pancakes, eggs and sausages. Those places need to quickly adapt and learn from these cultures who have made satisfying meals from veggies for centuries.

Met family here on a day trip into the city Definitely different! Haven't had too much Persian food. Seems like mostly coffee shop atmosphere during the daytime with a few larger groups there in evening. You order at the counter, menus are chalkboard. Our group had 5 people and ordered some sampler platters. The staff knew that we hadn't been there but still didn't explain what the dishes were when they brought the food out. We had ordered 2 meat and 2 veggie but honestly I couldn't taste anything that resembled meat in any of the dishes. We still had a lovely time and would really recommend this place more for coffee and tea than food.

    The protein sampler platter

Our preconceived notion was that we were going out to eat Middle Eastern food with souvlaki, baklava, hummus, etc. That notion was entirely out in left field! The food that we ended up getting was very, very different than what we were used to. It looked very pretty and there was an abundance of it, but I must say that the four of us left food uneaten. Guess Persian food is a lot different than Middle Eastern food. The service was good, but I would have liked it better if they explained what was in the food. For instance, the protein sampler platter had something that didn't look anything like meat, but we were told it was ground beef. There was some sort of sweet jam. It tasted good, but I would have preferred to know what I was eating. There was a white soup, it had a sweet taste to it, but was slimy. Again, I didn't know what I was eating. I don't think I would return to this restaurant next time we visit Montreal. There was a birthday celebration during our visit. That was a lot of fun!

A charming little coffee shop that serves exceptional Chai tea! Decorated very cutely and makes you feel at home. The service is good too :) I would definitely suggest the Chai tea with cardamum, rose flowers, cinnamon. It's very warming, yummy and smells wonderful too.

I love discovering artistic, cultural, independent cafes and Toranj is now definitely towards the top of my favourites list. From the outside, I did not expect such a large beautiful interior so I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is gorgeous; with a mighty green wall and hanging planters which complement the rustic furniture and modern accents perfectly. The menu has a lot to choose from, especially for vegetarians. The Persian breakfast in particular looked extremely tempting however, we were there a little after lunchtime and felt like something lighter. Despite not being on the menu, I asked for Kashke Bademjan (an exquisite Persian dish made with aubergine, onions and yoghurt) - to my surprise, they had some available. Choosing a drink was the hardest part, with so much variety and an expansive tea menu, we played it safe and ordered a pot of our favourite Persian mint tea. Dessert however was much easier, as though everything looked super appealing, I had my eye on the pillowy golden saffron cake topped with pistachios and dried rose petals the moment I walked in. Needless to say, everything was delicious and very authentic. The best part was the presentation; dishes were served on beautiful copper trays, naan bread wrapped in a tapestry cloth and a floral china teapot for the mint tea. The staff were very polite and prices are OK. Overall, loved everything about Café Toranj and discovering that they frequently hold poetry nights, know that I will definitely be returning soon!

This place was hands down a highlight of my Montréal food scene experience. The shop itself is very cute and cozy, with just two small tables by the window and a few chairs. The décor is simple, and so are your choices, which honestly works in their favor. When you step inside, you get a direct view of the bakers working their magic, which makes the experience even better. We ordered a hot chocolate, plain croissants, chocolate croissants, and a slice of the Kouign‑Amann. If you like a dark, rich hot chocolate that's not overly sweet, look no further, this is the place. As for the croissants, both the plain and chocolate versions were good but fairly standard. However, the real star was the Kouign‑Amann. It was served warm, perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. It was so good that when I finished my slice, I went back to the counter hoping for more but they were sold out. To be fair, I arrived around 2pm and they close at 3pm. Despite that, the line moved quickly, and the staff were some of the sweetest people ever. My only regret? I only bought one slice. I'd highly recommend this place, but make sure you get there early if you want to snag a slice of Kouign‑Amann before they sell out.

We both had a "tranche" /slice /portion of the flaky pastry originating from Brittany. While it does not look like the Kouign Amanns I've had before, it definitely tasted fabulous. We were not the only ones who thought so. While we ate our bounty at one of the two open tables, we saw person after person purchase whole galettes, possibly for an upcoming family gathering. The pastry had a sweet and crunchy crust and a buttery interior. Here, it does not resemble a croissant. Instead, the layers of dough were softer than the typical honeycomb structure of a croissant. Speaking of which, my sister also recommends the croissants here, which she used to have regularly when the shop was open more frequently.

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

The Long Version: So I had never heard of Rossetti before. They didn't exist when I was living in Montreal (the 2000s) and after I left, my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the beginning) and I would return often (at least a few times a year until 2019) and I'm pretty sure they weren't around then. We took a few years hiatus from visiting Montreal and then when we returned in 2024, boom, Rossetti had 4 different locations in the downtown core! What's their origin story? I have no idea. Their website has no "About Us" section. All I know is they opened sometime between 2020 and 2024, lol. I tried their caramel eclair ($5.50). The caramel icing was really tasty, but I found the choux pastry and the custard filling a bit dry. They have cannoli, amaretti, financiers, croissants and tarts. They also have sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have sfogliatella, my favourite Italian pastry. Oh, they also have coffees and teas. The interior is nice with seating to dine in. Service was neutral. I may return to try another item. Maybe at one of their other locations. Review #16 (2025)

While in Miami last year, my husband, mother-in-law and I became big fans of the Rosetta on lower Collins Ave and then once they opened the one by Lincoln Center in NYC, we began to visit that one often since it's walking distance. After climbing to the Kondiaronk Belvedere on Mont Royal, we decided we needed sustenance on our way back down and we spied Rosetti as we were walking back to our hotel. Since it looked very similar to Rosetta, we decided to stop in and grab a bite. The sandwiches and pastries were on full display and we knew we made a good choice. I had a Pizza Margherita which was huge...I could have shared it. I also had a caramel tart for a sweet treat afterwards. Others in the group had sandwiches and other sweets which they all enjoyed. There are some stools at a counter downstairs and a little more seating upstairs with a few low tables along with some high tops and counters. The ladies who worked there were very nice. We enjoyed our food and think it's a great place for a quick bite that's a bit elevated from traditional fast food.
