I tried a bunch of kouign amanns before and this place is the best. The warm buttery slice was delicious with every bite. There was a line but it goes by really quick!

This is a really good place to try for one specific specialty which is the Koung Amman. A small bakery with only two tables to site assume you'll be getting this to go. If there's a line - wait it'll be worth it. It's a flakey yet dense buttered croissant type pastry. Service is fast so you wouldn't wait long especially if you go when they open and on a weekday!

Pâtisserie Au Kouing Amann is one of our favourite pastry shops in the city. Worst hours (closed Sunday to Tuesday) but their kouign amann are amazing. Grabbed a kouign amann ($3.25) and croissant au fromage ($3.50). Flaky, delicious goodness. You won't find a better kouign amann!

Located right on Mont Royal Avenue -- one of my favorite pedestrian streets in Montréal -- this bakery was a standout discovery. I've had kouign-amann before (at O Petit Paris in Montréal and even Dominique Ansel's bakery in New York City), but the one here is by far the best I've ever tasted. The pastry is baked in a large round, almost like a pie, then cut into wedges to serve. The texture is exactly what you want: incredibly crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside. You can order a single slice for $3.25 CAD, a small round (about 6 servings) for $18 CAD, or a large (about 12 servings) for $33 CAD. The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- so plan to arrive early before they sell out. The woman at the counter was very friendly and spoke both English and French, which made ordering simple. They also offer a few other pastries (pain au chocolat, cinnamon roll, berry tart, plain croissant), but trust me -- you come here for the kouign-amann. It's outstanding, and I highly recommend making a stop if you're in Montréal.

Oh my goodness! Five stars just for the flavor of the stable baked dish - the Au Kouing-Amann! I can't even describe the flavor but unlike anything I've had before. It's sweet and a bit buttery, light but heavy lol. Such a hard dessert to describe! It's perfect to have alone or even with cafe au lait! There was a line there when I went but I know it's typical as it's a popular spot for this goodie! They do also serve coffee/espresso! The shop is quite small is the front and I believe it had limited seating but it was crowded when I went. I'd go back and purchase an entire cake next time! I do recommend even if there's a line!

Kouign amanns are my favorite pastry, but I've never had one like this before! Instead of it being an individual pastry, it's more like a cake. You can buy a slice, but I wish I wasn't visiting so I could get a whole one. The taste is so unique. Flaky, buttery, sweet...it's perfection. We also got a chocolate croissant, but it's nothing special compared to the kouign amann. We loved it so much, we were so close to stopping by before our flight but it was too out of our way. I still think about this place a lot though! Btw, the inside is very small. There are two little round tables inside, but it's definitely meant to be more of a to-go spot.

Okay I wasn't sure this was going to be for me, but I had to try it before I left Montreal after seeing all the reviews. I probably annoyed the workers so much lol bc even after entering I was debating on whether I should try it or not. It wasn't expensive so I went for it. There was very little seating so I stood by the bench. The lady saw (she gave me a to-go bag) and then gave me a plate and utensils which was very kind. A seat then opened so was able to sit and enjoy it comfortably. This dessert was actually really good! Again, I didnt think I would like it but it was super delicious and worth trying!

To be honest, the depictions of the kouing amann didnt look like our thing hut im glad we gave it a shot. It ended up being exactly what we needed. The inside is fluffy and dense like a rich cake while the outside was carmelized. It is just what I look for in a pastry. The price and speed were great too. They had them ready and even had options for entire cakes of it.

This famous bake shop is just so warm and lovely as to require a visit. The first sighting shows it has a very limited menu, which is a good sign of them doing what they do well, and indeed, from first to the famous cream and butter and flour purity. The services great with excellent touches for the many new patrons to the many returning ones, explaining their baked offerings and care for the product that is very visible from the baking prep floor. Products need no explanation, but lovingly explained if you need. As for the food itself, we got everything in the menu almost. Firstly, croissants (which come in regular, raisins, almonds, and cheese outside) are true with honeycomb and layered interiors, as too many places do not care to do. They have a few small breads which we did not get. And of course, the famous Amman , which is found nowhere else, is majestic, worth your try and it comes in slices, if you do not order the whole pie. It is a special Montréal institution.

Loved the kouign amann here! Unlike the ones you find in French pastry shops in the US, the ones here are wedge shaped and look like a pie slice. The top layer was perfectly crispy and sweet and the inside was soft and buttery. Would recommend sharing a slice if you plan on eating elsewhere as well since they're pretty dense and one whole slice will fill you up comfortably. Prices are good and service was friendly. Small shop though with only two tables and a small ledge. Recommend!

Before this place I had no idea the kouign amann I had been eating in the US were, in fact, not TRUE kouign amann, but merely mini renditions. On the first bite, I immediately knew this was going to be the highlight of the food I'd had on this trip. Perfect, buttery, flaky, soft goodness all in one delicate pastry, with just a hint of salt. I got two slices but I would have gotten three full cakes to go if I could've figured out a way to pack them in my suitcase. I need to find a similar enough recipe to theirs or I might have to fly to Montreal again JUST to visit this bakery.

First of all, I have to say I'm a huge fan of Kouign-Amann. The first time I tried it was at Dominique Ansel's bakery in NYC and I fell in love instantly. I even made trips to France just to enjoy this pastry again, so imagine my excitement when I discovered this bakery dedicated to it! They keep things simple, offering just croissants and Kouign-Amann, which to me means they've perfected their craft. The shop is only open Wednesday through Saturday, so plan ahead. We went on a Wednesday right at 10 am and it was absolutely worth it. They sell it in different sizes: petite, grande, or by the slice from a large round (like a pie). Prices are very reasonable--about $3.25 for a portion. When we had ours, it was still warm: crisp and caramelized on the outside, soft and slightly spongy inside. Pure magic from just a handful of ingredients. This bakery nails it. If you've never tried Kouign-Amann before, you're truly missing out. Highly recommend!

I knew I wanted to stop by a bakery for croissants in Montreal, and Au Kouing-Amann was the perfect place to go! We got an almond croissant and a slice of kouing-amann. Both were so delicious, flaky, buttery, and warm! Definitely stop by if you're in montreal

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

The Long Version: So I had never heard of Rossetti before. They didn't exist when I was living in Montreal (the 2000s) and after I left, my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the beginning) and I would return often (at least a few times a year until 2019) and I'm pretty sure they weren't around then. We took a few years hiatus from visiting Montreal and then when we returned in 2024, boom, Rossetti had 4 different locations in the downtown core! What's their origin story? I have no idea. Their website has no "About Us" section. All I know is they opened sometime between 2020 and 2024, lol. I tried their caramel eclair ($5.50). The caramel icing was really tasty, but I found the choux pastry and the custard filling a bit dry. They have cannoli, amaretti, financiers, croissants and tarts. They also have sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have sfogliatella, my favourite Italian pastry. Oh, they also have coffees and teas. The interior is nice with seating to dine in. Service was neutral. I may return to try another item. Maybe at one of their other locations. Review #16 (2025)

While in Miami last year, my husband, mother-in-law and I became big fans of the Rosetta on lower Collins Ave and then once they opened the one by Lincoln Center in NYC, we began to visit that one often since it's walking distance. After climbing to the Kondiaronk Belvedere on Mont Royal, we decided we needed sustenance on our way back down and we spied Rosetti as we were walking back to our hotel. Since it looked very similar to Rosetta, we decided to stop in and grab a bite. The sandwiches and pastries were on full display and we knew we made a good choice. I had a Pizza Margherita which was huge...I could have shared it. I also had a caramel tart for a sweet treat afterwards. Others in the group had sandwiches and other sweets which they all enjoyed. There are some stools at a counter downstairs and a little more seating upstairs with a few low tables along with some high tops and counters. The ladies who worked there were very nice. We enjoyed our food and think it's a great place for a quick bite that's a bit elevated from traditional fast food.
