Pretty Cafe n my iced coffee
Ritesh S.

Located in nin-busy area away from downtown, this place has nice ambience and decor - actual trees inside the cafe. They serve coffee, brunch and cocktails as well. We had latte and iced coffee with bagels for breakfast. Coffee was a bit light for our taste but overall good experience.

Pretty brunch place to go with friends! Tried the benedictine, meditaranean style, with a cappucino. Was filling and also tasted the blueberry buttermilk pancake which was very tasty!

This is a trendy restaurant on the equally trendy Monkland Avenue. I ordered the spritzvah cocktail which was delicious. The bubby's matzah ball soup was equally amazing - with home made broth! The shakshuka was good. My kids had the schnitzel sandwich which was excellent; comes with a side salad. There are jokes on plates on the way in, the service is very friendly! The atmosphere is very cool and the bathrooms smell like flowers! What more can you want?!?

A very beautiful place. We went for brunch. The service is really super slow; sometimes we felt the servers were wandering around lost in their bubbles. I had to signal to get their attention every time either to get the menu, or where is my latte since my food have arrived and for the bill. Nevertheless, the dishes were extremely tasty; I had shakshouka with potatoes latkes and a latte. I also found the price was way too high, I guess due to the inflation. At least my company was amazing, so I wasn't annoyed by the long wait for the service.

On an recent Uber Eats order, we sampled the Pigeon salad, the burger, and the Israeli fried chicken with mixed results. The salad was quite good with plenty of tasty ingredients including avocado. Nevertheless, it could have been a tad larger for the 16$ (just add a bit more lettuce to fill it out). The burger was juicy and large, served on a challah roll. While many people wouldn't probably enjoy random thick slices of red onion, it was just my speed. The waffle fries were also very good. The issue with the Israeli fried chicken is that there was nothing crispy about it. It could be the delivery effect, but beyond that, the coating was very thin. The dish is basically breaded boneless chicken thighs served with some middle eastern watery dips. I improved on the dips by using some of my own hot sauce and honey. I wouldn't put this version on any lists of best fried chicken. I will say that the restaurant was very nice in sending the chicken over as a replacement for the hot dogs in blankets that we had ordered. They charged me the lower price of the hot dogs given they were out of stock. For the 3 chicken thighs we did get, I'm glad I didn't pay the regular 24$ price tag which would have been unjustified. You can tell that there is some effort going on here to put some thought and love into the food. One has to remember that when ordering in, the vibe of the restaurant, and the experience of being served something fresh out of the kitchen is completely missing thereby exposing and highlighting weaknesses in the food. I would gladly try some other menu items in person in the future.

Nice place. We sat outside. They have a roof to block some sun. Very nice atmosphere. Waiters English and French. The food was delicious and big. Their iced coffee was good. I would definitely come back.

I was really looking forward to visiting this new cafe, as the little coffee shop with the same name in downtown is excellent. I went on a sunny Sunday afternoon, lucky me it was half-empty. When I arrived I was unsure whether I should stand and wait to be seated or get inside to order and sit afterwards. The waiters were passing by and never paid attention to me standing at the door.... after 5 minutes I decided to get inside. Inside, the waiters were still doing their thing when a waitress finally asked me if I wanted to order and invited me to take a seat. 10 minutes later, the waiters kept on passing by without paying attention to my table .... Another 10 minutes passed, same: I just want to add that the restaurant was far from being full but I told myself that since they recently opened the slowness of the beginnings was normal. Then a couple arrived at a table next to mine. They were barely seated that a waitress was already taking their order, which surprised me since I had been waiting for a while and no one cared to ask what I wanted to eat... As I was getting ready to leave, someone finally came to take my order. I ordered a mango smoothie and the pigeon salad. The salad arrived quite quickly, it was OK but nothing out of the ordinary, the bread was also too chewy for my taste. Then I finished my food and there was still no smoothie... The smoothie finally arrived but I would have appreciated drinking it while eating my salad. I will have to go back because my experience has not been the best, but this place is full of potential and a great place to chill with friends.

One of my favorite coffee shops opened a new location on Monkland. This location used to be the iconic St-Viateur & happy time see it has been replaced by this new cafe! Extremely friendly staff, beautifully designed interior with a gorgeous terrace. I only picked up a latte to go but they also serve breakfast and lunch which looks quite interesting. To be honest, the latte was pretty good, not at par with their downtown location. I have provided them with my feedback & will give them the benefit of the doubt to ensure consistency, which is key! I would be curious to try their breakfast or lunch at some point. Definitely check them out when you're on Monkland :-)

Indoor seating

This new restaurant on Monkland is always busy and lively so we decided to give it a try. They offer seating inside as well as their shaded patio and some tables completely in the sun. We went on a Friday for lunch and no reservation was needed. Their menu is quite extensive, from pasta to seafood, breakfast food to sandwiches you're pretty much covered. Their cocktail menu wasn't very large but the waitress let us know that they would make any classic cocktail for us as well. I ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich with fries and the cocktail with aperol. The sandwich was quite good and the challah bread was a nice touch. The cocktail was alright but nothing that stood out. Unfortunately the fries tasted reheated and not homemade but they were still good. Overall I would definitely return for the food and the nice ambiance but not for their cocktails, I would really give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Love the decor!

Beautiful Father's Day and Grand Prix day! We chose to stay away from the hustle and bustle and ended up at this place. Decor is homely and the staff friendly. The menus is short and sweet so we chose to have the Shakshouka (Poached Eggs in Spicy Tomato Sauce) and i also ordered a side of potato latkes. This dish was full of different flavours and topped with pomegranate. I would definitely return. Oh the company was pleasant as well. Lol

We arrived for a late lunch and found ourselves to be the only two dining. The salad menu is extensive. Build your own or culinary masterpieces (if salad is allowed to be considered in the masterpiece category of course) ranged from meat forward to cheese forward and fruit in between. I picked a Man Salad. Plenty of meat including bacon, heaps of vegetables including avocado and a caesar/ranch dressing. I know, it doesn't sound like anything unbelievable when I utter the ingredients, but there's something about how this salad is made -- perhaps with love? It won my heart as I crunched all to greedily on perfectly proportioned -- hefty bowl -- of lettuce and veggies. If you come hungry, you'll leave satiated and feeling healthy! The bowls are truly meal sized. And the sister owners? Well, their radiance beamed on all of the walls too! I sense they're going to be seeing me again!

Freshii is a Canadian-based international fast-casual chain serving healthy foods. There are hundreds of locations in Canada and the US. On the inside and outside of this location, I noticed branding for Yogurty's Froyo. So in addition to salads, wraps, bowls, burritos, soups, smoothies, and juices, they also serve frozen yogurt. They have self-serve machines with 12-15 flavors to choose from. There's also a colorful toppings bar. During our visit, there were 32 candy (and nut) toppings, 4 fruit toppings, and 3 syrups (e.g. chocolate, strawberry). This is a casual place with more of a cafe-type atmosphere than a full-fledged restaurant. Interior seating extends into the back (they have a decent amount) and there's sidewalk patio seating too (that's where we sat). The vibe is comfortable and laid back and the store has a playful, sort of modern and hip feel to it (though this sort of style is getting dated). The menu featured 4 smoothies and 6 juices. Most smoothies were priced at $5.99 each and most juices were $6.49 each. I got a Freshii Vert ($5.99) which is made with chou kale, epinards, ananas, and avocats. In English, that translates to a green smoothie made with kale, spinach, pineapple, and avocado. My friend got the Banane Et Fraise ($5.99) which is a banana and strawberry smoothie. Another friend got a bowl. Everything was made fresh to order so it took a few minutes, but not very long. The lady who prepared our order wrapped everything tightly and securely in plastic wrap which I appreciated. It made transporting everything worry-free. My Freshii Vert hit the spot. It was cold and refreshing. It tasted good and fresh. It wasn't too sweet and had an appetizing, smooth consistency. My friends liked what they got too. Freshii's smoothies come in one size only. I'm not sure how many ounces, but it would be considered a "small" or "medium" by most smoothie place standards. It'd be nice if they offered a larger size. I actually got my smoothie for only $3.99 instead of $5.99 because I noticed the changing section underneath the smoothie menu (it's digital) advertised "smoothie happy hour 2-6pm every day, only $3.99." Our visit was around 4pm on a Friday and the shop had hardly any customers at that time. Both the cashier and the lady who prepared our order for us were friendly. Wi-Fi network is Freshii and password is Energize.

Eating healthy(er) has been a goal recently, so Freshii seemed like a good option. Prices were cheap and there was plenty of choices. You can compose your own bowl with any of their available ingredients. For simpicity's sake we chose the Oaxaca bowl, which contains kale, beets, corn, black beans, avocado and crispy wonton on a bed of brown rice. The bowl was prepared bibimbap style, and everything was drizzled with a spicy yogurt sauce. The ingredients were all very fresh and yummy, but sadly I didn't like the sauce and struggled to finish my bowl. My boyfriend loved it, however - I think its his new favorite thing now. Although I wasn't too fond of the food, I have to say that Freshii's interior was pretty nice. They have nice benches with comfy, colorful pillows, and the decor gives the place a cheerful, youthful vibe.

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

Whenever I don't know what to eat but still want something good (and not too heavy), this is usually it. The chicken is always solid. Juicy, well cooked, and actually seasoned properly, which is not always the case at places like this. You can tell it's marinated and not just grilled plain. I usually get a bowl and load it up with veggies and a sauce or two. The sauces are really what make it for me -- flavorful but not overpowering, and they don't taste artificial. What I like is that you can build the bowl however you want. Some days I go lighter, other days I'm hungry and add more. Portions are decent and I usually feel full after, not stuffed but satisfied. Price feels fair for what you get. The place itself is clean and simple, nothing fancy but comfortable. Staff has been nice every time I've gone.
