Cafe bar with path to outside nursery

Ambiance is wonderful. Cafe is part of Family Tree Nursery. Greeneries inside and out, outside patio seating. Merchandise consist of interesting items like unique red herbal and tonic teas. Barista was pleasant, went straight to making the drink within minutes. They have loyalty program which you can sign up for. The 8 oz hot dirty chai I ordered was $7, little pricey and too strong of espresso taste thus the 4 stars!

I love Cafe Equinox and the nursery. I enjoy the coffee and I love the atmosphere. I find it super relaxing to work, talk, or just hang out.

This is a very interesting coffee shop, because it is in a nursery. There is a little bar to sit at and a little outdoor patio in the front on the building by the coffee shop. Upon arriving there was one couple in front of me, the one staff member looked a little overwhelmed and it took her a bit to get the orders and get them out. There was a good size line by the time I got my drink. I didn't know anything about the two sitting areas in the nursery that you can sit and hangout while drinking your coffee or just walk around and look at plants. I had even mentioned it was my first time there.

I wanted to update my review after going to Café equinox many times, usually at least once a week. The coffee is wonderful and so are there other items, I love their garden seating. So no complaints with the product or space itself. The one thing that needs to be improved upon is the friendliness or the lack thereof with welcoming business attitude towards the customers. Quite a few of them are generally unfriendly and barely speak up upon coming up to take your order. Barista service is a major point with people returning to a business and the only reason I'm keeping it a four stars is because of the lovely seating area and the quality product.

I've known about Cafe Equinox for an embarrassing amount of time without venturing here. First of all, it's not too far from my house, and secondly, it's such a unique and damn near perfect concept for a coffee shop that I wish I'd come here sooner. When you walk into Family Tree Nursery you'll find a small cafe to the right with bar service. I ordered my drink, and sat down to get some work done. I did see a sign for additional seating but wasn't sure where it was so just took an open spot in front of me. It should be noted that the coffee I had was incredible. The space was calming (being within the walls of a nursery) and the barista friendly. After I finished my work I decided to explore a bit, as I was I found the additional seating and boy did I make a mistake not sitting there. The bulk of the seating is within the greenhouse and it's scattered amongst big beautiful tropical plants. On a winter day, this is a dream. The only thing I didn't care for at this location was the very loud religious undertones that the nursery displays. It's something I can overlook for a good cup of coffee and beautiful atmosphere though.

Flowers & Coffee - yes please! Located inside the Shawnee Family Tree Nursery. Serving up Thou Mayest coffee that is rich, bold and full of flavor. They have unique lattes that are fitting for its aesthetic. Love this garden oasis.

Had a great time enjoying a beverage in the greenhouse before wandering around and nabbing plants on my mom's list! Absolutely recommend the brown sugar cinnamon latte. I got mine iced with bee pollen! The staff is kind at the coffee shop, and around the nursery! Always have a personable and sunshine-y experience here!

Love love love! A plant nursery and a cafe all in one. Such a cute spot to grab a coffee, browse for plant gifts and meet up with a friend. The outdoor/indoor seating area is wonderful, we went on a cold rainy day and as soon as we stepped inside it felt like we were transported to a tropical oasis ;-). It was warm, bright and beautifully decorated with plants, modern chairs and decor. There was lots of space to sit and the way everything is laid out you still feel like you can have some privacy while chatting or if you wanted to feel like you weren't in a crowded place. I ordered a lavender bee pollen latte. Tasted really nice. Quality. Baked goods weren't available when we went but I'm sure those are delicious as well. Will definitely be coming back here again.

Cute cafe place inside this beautiful nursery place. Went here to enjoyed and check out the plants. It's pretty cold outside but they made it nice and warm for the plants and human beings. A good place to work, coffee date, group hangout, or just for yourself. Love all the poinsettia and Christmas cactus. Tis the season. Line was short at the cafe. Plenty of seatings. Lots of merch and plants to buy.

Is there a more relaxing and glorious place to drink coffee? Nope! This is the jackpot of coffee shops! The chai I ordered was delicious and my toddlers both loved their blueberry poptarts. The best part was that we enjoyed our snacks in a warm greenhouse, surrounded by plants, and where there were birds to gobble up the inevitable crumbs. Loved every second of our visit and we will be back many time this Winter!

Happened to visit on the 60th anniversary weekend! Lucky me, it was perfect weather and there was so much excitement throughout the whole store. It was a little too noisy for me to study since of the event, so I didn't stay long. But I did walk out with a new pot for my plant--they also drill drainage holes for free through any pot which was so nice! I'd love to come back and visit for much longer next time. Beautiful store, seating, and so much to enjoy here!

Café equinox and family tree nursery is where sadness goes to die during the winter. If you're experiencing any seasonal affective sadness or just need to pick me up in this cold weather, this is your heaven. I grabbed myself a Harvest Moon latte and indulged in the free potting weekend family tree (ends Dec 18). And all my woes melted away. The transformation of this nursery and Cafe over the last year is mine blowing. They've opened the seating up so much and added this new bar, which is so great. During the winter, you can see how big the seating is in the greenhouse as well. I will be spending so much more time here!!

Everything flows. It's organized chaos done right. The seasonal drinks are consistently creative and actually good. Not just pretty for Instagram. Balanced, thoughtful, and well executed. And the bakery? Dangerous. The display case is pure temptation. Cinnamon rolls, pecan twists, danishes, cookies, scones. Everything looks like the right choice, which makes choosing impossible. They also have solid brunch plates and sandwiches if you're trying to pretend you're here for something other than sugar and caffeine. Now for the one miss. I ordered the pepper jack breakfast burrito, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to the rest of the experience. Flat flavors, mushy texture, no real identity. The hot sauce was doing most of the work. It felt out of place in a spot that clearly cares about quality. Thankfully, the bakery and coffee saved the day. The pecan twist was flaky, buttery, and just sweet enough. The seasonal latte with cold foam was smooth, balanced, and dialed in. Overall, McLain's is a Kansas City staple for a reason. Efficient, welcoming, and consistently good at what they do. One menu tweak away from being near-perfect. Solid 4-star spot. Would happily come back.

The space is very large with multiple seating areas, quiet corners, plenty of open dining and enclosed room dining as well. It has a walkthrough to the bakery side along with mini store selling cups, Messner Farms merchandise and more. Now I really enjoyed my CBS: marinated chicken, bacon, red onion, cheddar cheese, tomato and chipotle mayo on brioche potato roll.. sounds pretty good huh! It was devine! Those combined ingredients made for one of the best chicken sandwiches hot or cold (because I could finish it in one sitting) I've had! Now I picked at the chicken solo and it didn't have too much flavor but as a sandwich everything comes together well! I wasn't too impressed with the Mudslide.. it was dreary, no hit of chocolate or creme so I'm not sure what it was supposed to be. My mom said the match with honey syrup was decent. Everything for the price definitely ensured my only trip.

Maybe it's the former barista in me, but I just never know what I'm gonna walk into. I was bit extra hesitant as I knew from reading reviews that this place was a bit off the beaten path, and as I routed myself there and found my car meandering through a suburban office parking lot maze I became even more nervous about my plan to work from here. All of that being said, once I got close to the coffeeshop itself I saw a sign clearly visible from the lot which was my first breath of relief. The signage is spectacular for a fairly hidden spot. Yes, you need to know it's here, but you will find it rest assured! If you don't see the sign keep hunting. The nice thing about it being in an office park is that there is ample parking. I was able to park and walk right in. The inside is modern but inviting, and at 9am I was able to have my pick of the tables. Now onto what makes this place so special. There are tons of great cafes in Kansas City, but what sets Maps apart from the pack is that they roast their own beans in house and they are all super fresh. You can taste the difference in the brew and it's a nice change of pace to have something a bit different since many of the local spots in town use the same local roasters. Once you find out about Maps you'll start to notice other cafes and restaurants that use their beans. It's not as many as say, Messenger, but Maps holds their own in this arena. They also make their own chocolate! And when I say make, I mean make. They actually make the chocolate bars and not just the candies. Even more impressive, it's damn good chocolate. Honestly, if you haven't been to this spot and have a love for coffee and/or chocolate it's well worth a visit. The cherry on top for me is how unpretentious the entire place is.
