I have walked past this place a dozen or so times but it's usually closed. I stopped in on a Saturday evening about an hour before they closed. The space is huge inside, they have porch swings, booths, tables, rocking chairs as well as a conference room. They have a large drink menu with both latte/coffee and non-coffee drinks. They also have an alcohol menu and you can get a shot added to your coffee. The coffee I got (Irish Nut Latte) had a good flavor and was a smooth drink. I will defiantly go back when I am in the area. read more

Java Garage kept popping up for me when I was in the West Bottoms and I kept passing it over for Blip mostly due to me not being sure where to find it. Well those days are now over! I recently decided to take a meeting here as I wanted to check it out, and I have to say it's a great little local shop, perfectly nestled into the antique shop district of the West Bottoms. The folks working were so kind, the drink great, and the dog hanging out super sweet. I also enjoyed how much space there is here to work or catch up with a friend or colleague. My only quip, which likely is not their fault, is that maps has a hard time locating it. My GPS kept telling me I was there when I wasn't and it took some cross referencing on my phone to get the right spot. It was worth the extra effort, but just a tip to the biz that maps are a lil funky! read more

We love Java! Every time we've been in here, we are pleasantly met by smiles from the employees and tail wags from Stout. The service is great, they will answer any questions you have about drinks or food items, and they give you plenty of time to check out the menu. The atmosphere is very comfortable, its a great place to relax and feel at home at the same time. They have plenty of seating options, and the tables are always clean! They have super good pastries if you need a snack, as well as some lunch sandwich options. In the afternoons they also serve alcoholic beverages, but i have yet to give them a try. Their chai and coffee drinks are both delicious! Don't forget to give Stout some pets before you leave. read more

Shop dog... won me over there! This coffee shop is the perfect place for my next book club meeting! It's a big space with plenty of seating! They even have hammocks, couches, a library area and game area, how fun! They are on point here. Drinks were just what I was expecting and more! My latte was perfect, then I decided to try the new seasonal tropical sunset Italian soda( I had not had one in a while) and it was not disappointing. Cannot wait to do some antique shopping nearby and stop in for a drink (and maybe snack:)) read more

While down at the West Bottoms area we went in to this coffee shop and really loved it! Very large and a wide variety of seating of all types. Friendly dog who hangs out and greets customers is a definite plus too. The coffee was very good and so was the service. We would definitely go back. read more

I never knew how much I would love an Italian Soda on a hot August day. Perfection! Or maybe it's the way they mixed it up here. Blackberry, Coconut Yum! I tried the Hubs iced coffee and it was pretty solid too. What a sweet place to visit! And being that I adore all dogs and this place has its own mascot, even bigger win! Stout cannot be any better. If I was to ever own my own coffee shop, this is exactly how I'd decorate it. Eclectic, warm and inviting. Tons of sitting spaces, makes you want to stay awhile and swing away any worries. I was going to west bottoms plant Co and it was really cold outside so I decided to look for some coffee around the area. I was thinking I was in a different part of West bottom so I was looking for a blip roasters but pleasantly found Java garage. It was really quiet in there but the space was huge. There was a couple people working on their laptops so it looks like it would be a good study area. The vibe was simple casual but had a cool industrial work feel to it. My favorite part of the experience was obviously enjoying the coffee but meeting the pupper that also works there. He was extremely friendly and approachable and he decided to hang out with us. They didn't have drip coffee when I went but I just ordered an Americano and the quality was good. I will definitely be back for more coffees and more pets/ hang outs with a dog!!! read more

This is a very cool space! And much needed for all the shopping and events the area hosts. Coffee always makes antiquing better. I loved the big open area and all the various seating options. They have two front porch swings attached to the rafters and your group can chill with you coffees or Italian sodas. I would greatly enjoy working remote from one of the many couches or tables. Just a very inviting space. I had an iced vanilla latte and was glad it wasn't sweetened like you get at some many chained coffee shops. They also had several milk alternatives, I chose oat. Next time I'd like to try some of their other flavors. read more

A small intimate and rustic coffee shop inside the old Central Bag building in the West Bottoms, they share the space with Stuffology, and easily accessible via the front door. A friendly owner that uses Java Brothers Beans of Martin City. I ordered one of their signature drinks - The Mud Pit - basically a triple shot mocha for $4. Probably not a destination shop, but definitely a must do if antique shopping in The Historic West Bottoms. read more

Honestly I am writing this because I decided to try some West Bottoms shopping with my twin 3 year olds because we're desperate to go out and do things, and the barista was SO nice to my kids. She was so kind, helpful and understanding as I brought my girls to what's really an adult space. That isn't always the case when we go out and I really appreciate it. I had a tea and a muffin that were good, but I would go back because of the service for sure. read more

This place is fantastic. It has it all. I truly could have sat in there all day. It is rustic and the old wood smell mixed with coffee made the ambiance even more perfect. This place was spotless too. Not a speck of dust anywhere. They serve their own roast and a selection of pastries. There is a lot of seating from big soft couches to tables and chairs and even including a porch swing area. It is bright and welcoming for work or catching up with friends. Coffee is smooth and drinks are masterly made. read more

I walked into a HUGE space and was greeted by a very sweet, friendly dog named Stout! That alone makes me want to give this place a top rating. I'm not a coffee drinker but a I got to select the tea that I wanted and I settled down for a bit to work on the wifi. The woman behind the counter (the dog's owner) was very friendly. It looks like the type of place I could put down roots for the day and get tons of work done. I love how open the space is. read more

3 stars for eclectic decor and fun layout with nooks and crannies to get lost in, isolate and read a book, or meet with a small or large group comfortably. I really want to like this place. . Ahhh but the coffee experience leaves much to be desired. This review is based on the drip coffee -- it's not undrinkable over-roasted Starbuck-style coffee. It's balanced enough, does the trick for like a diner or greasy spoon, but doesn't achieve a good coffeeshop mark. Coffee is clearly not a fresh roast as it lack aroma and complexity. The message I infer: 'we're not serious coffee people but we want to run a fun coffeeshop.' Why not level up with a good local roaster? Spend a little more and attract fans of good coffee? read more

Eclectic decor in the older building with exposed brick walls and a fair amount of plants up front. It's a large space with a variety of seating options - maybe 4 or 5 two-tops along the windows in the front, a few large booths that could sit six each if you're cozy, 3 or 4 nooks with a mix of couches and stereotypical coffee shop seating, a larger table in the back, and some bar seating as well. The traditional coffeeshop style seating is a nice touch, and feels like a throwback to a different era, when coffee shops weren't just a ton of people on laptops. That being said, they're clearly trying to draw in remote workers and their ilk, with plentiful outlets (i.e. four outlets at the booth I sat at and I can see 4 under counter outlets for every 2 or 3 bar stools. They've also got signage at the tables encouraging sharing the larger spaces/inviting others to sit with you. Was probably a little quieter than normal since it was Memorial Day, so the sign to share the space didn't come in to play, but I appreciate the vibe and community they're trying to create. Decaf americano was fine, but it was in a paper cup which felt like a bit of a miss. They didn't ask if I wanted it for here or not, but I do see some mugs on top of the large Rancilio espresso machine (so the purists may balk it's not a La Marzocco).

Fruited wheats are my favorite type of beers and it seems like they are a dying breed. The service was prompt and friendly, there are two bars that you can order from. I love that the water was self serve and it was ice cold. A group of us took up the outside deck which was very nice, though a little chilly from the breeze. Inside there is a large projector to watch sports games, and another smaller room where they were having a bingo event. It's a great place with a variety of areas to sit and hang out.

The retail area needed restock, as many of the coffees we out (bare shelves). I was really surprised to see it in such disarray. It was 1 in the afternoon! The coffees are the best around. I got the Brookside Bob that was chocolate, mint and expresso. Normally when I've been here the staff is energetic and outstanding. Unfortunately today that was not the case. Maybe it was after Christmas fatigue but I was glad I was not bringing company as The cashier was extremely unfriendly. She was acting like waiting on was a bother. I deducted 1 star for that as it really impacted our experience.

The space is very bright and cute - great for a visit to read or doodle (I did a little doodling of the shop during my visit). They even have a little shop area with some super cute and unique KC gear. I had a hot hazelnut latte and it was just okay, the flavor was pretty bland in my opinion and it was automatically served in a to go cup which bums me out. I like to sit and enjoy my coffee right there and love a good hot mug, it's part of the visit experience to me. The cute shop and incredible staff made my visit itself great overall, but the coffee could be leveled up a bit. Nonetheless, I would visit again :)

I do appreciate the good quality though and thankfully had some time to kill. It isn't a place I would go if I was in a rush, but it great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There wasn't a line when I went in, but there were quite a bit of people seated around. I got an iced hazelnut oat latte that tasted great. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely bring my laptop and hang out.

Eclectic decor in the older building with exposed brick walls and a fair amount of plants up front. It's a large space with a variety of seating options - maybe 4 or 5 two-tops along the windows in the front, a few large booths that could sit six each if you're cozy, 3 or 4 nooks with a mix of couches and stereotypical coffee shop seating, a larger table in the back, and some bar seating as well. The traditional coffeeshop style seating is a nice touch, and feels like a throwback to a different era, when coffee shops weren't just a ton of people on laptops. That being said, they're clearly trying to draw in remote workers and their ilk, with plentiful outlets (i.e. four outlets at the booth I sat at and I can see 4 under counter outlets for every 2 or 3 bar stools. They've also got signage at the tables encouraging sharing the larger spaces/inviting others to sit with you. Was probably a little quieter than normal since it was Memorial Day, so the sign to share the space didn't come in to play, but I appreciate the vibe and community they're trying to create. Decaf americano was fine, but it was in a paper cup which felt like a bit of a miss. They didn't ask if I wanted it for here or not, but I do see some mugs on top of the large Rancilio espresso machine (so the purists may balk it's not a La Marzocco).
