I…read moreneeded to be in the area, and decided to see if any new coffee shops had popped up, and here you go. It gives the vibe that you may have stumbled into Southwest blvd. area. It has very much the urban store front feel from that area. I noticed that as I walked in with two doors going opposite direction, a bit quirky for the suburbs but Grandview isn't all suburbs any more either. It's halfway between. That being said, this place is a nice break coffee shop from those that invite nanny-granny conversations and the super-stuffed wannabe types who go to coffee shops with the laptops and act as if it's their personal office space. You know who you are! and this is the coffee shop I wouldn't picture them dropping into. The music isn't too loud and tolerable, if you need to play something to listen to on your device. The music they first played was modern alternative, which was cool, but as I began my review it switched to that Mexican wailing with accordion. It's funny, when in Mexico, the coffee shops will play American alternative, or no music at all. The barista was a sweet gal who made the best Mexican chocolate mocha, so I know where to come and get a good mocha now. I would have ordered a pastry, but there weren't many here, but 3 to choose from, and I didn't see one I wanted to try. I imagined by mention of "Pan de dulce" that I would have enjoyed good Mexican pastries, but oh well, will have to go back to Mexico for that.

A nice microfoam that was smooth and silky and as it settled into the espresso it created a nice creamy smooth drink. The espresso was a touch on the bitter side for me. Maybe a few seconds quicker or a slightly less fine grind. It could have been the coffee beans themselves. I noticed they are using messenger, which is great, but tend to be a bit more bitter due to the roast. Of course, everyone's tastes are different and these are just mine. There was nothing wrong with anything. Overall the milk foam and coffee made for a tasty hot coffee drink to sip. The service was very good and helpful. The barista who made my coffee was very nice and guided us through some of the more interesting menu items, but I am a flat white guy and she nailed it. The place is very small. There are a few places outside to sit but it was hot so we sat inside. A couple of downsides. First, is my wife is a tea drinker and they really didn't have much hot tea. Second, when I order to drink it in the shop I like a real cup instead of paper. Lots of places cater to the take away so I get why they do it, but I really prefer a cup. That being said, if they would have had a great mix of tea drinks I could see this being a regular spot for us. Overall, good place to stop and sip some coffee.
