Sway checks my boxes for a top-shelf kaffehaus: A great drip & even better espresso Some tables & spots to sit & enjoy An array of baked goodies (those bagels, big yum) And a staff passionate about coffee Their espresso is one of the smoothest in the area, and that's some tall competition. There is almost a sweetness to it, not the bitterness that you can sometimes get in an espresso roast, because let's call it what it is: espresso is durn close to burnt. Makes for a great base for any of their coffee drinks, like my vanilla latte that day. My last visit was a Sway birthday, and their rotating flavor (new drinks posted on social on Wednesdays) was a - wait for it - wedding cake latte. Definitely didn't have that on my scorecard before, and while didn't sample it, the recommendations were numerous. Pricing & service are great, and while sure, there are limited seats (the place ain't that big), the only knock is their private parking lot. But that doesn't deflate their stars, but yeah, that parking sitch just stinks. Park across the street at the school on a weekend and jaywalk. But I didn't tell you to break the law. Sway is another jewel in the crown that is the Kansas City coffee scene. They could probably franchise their brand and sprinkle some locations in the 'burbs, but that defeats the neighborhood charm. Stop in, try the roast, enjoy vibe, and let Seattle bring mediocrity to the masses. Sway is perfect where it is.

My first time trying this, I got the 16oz iced size and drank the entire thing in like 5 minutes (and I'm normally the gal carries around her melted iced coffee the entire day). I hesitated reviewing it the first time, as the workers weren't the most accommodating when I asked menu questions, probably because they were 30 from close. But I came back, and the staff was so sweet and gave me a punch card with an extra punch to make up for last time. This baristas kindness flipped me into a devoted Sway enthusiast. The interior is small, with limited parking. Part of me wants to hide this spot, as I can come in before work and get my coffee in a 5 minute flip. And there's nothing better than a coffee that has a consistent flavor each time. The prices are very affordable, too, for the high quality coffee you are getting. They do run limited run bevs each Friday, Saturday, Sunday that they advertise through their social media. Only trouble is they close at 1:30pm and the barista told me the specials run out around 11am. So you have around a 6 hour window to secure the special. I think they should definitely consider week long runs if they could take it on!

I set my alarm for early on Sunday (10am is early for me) and made the 35 minute trek across town and ventured onto roads that I didn't know existed. I arrived at New Town at Harmony subdivision - a new planned community that I immediately fell in love with. Alchemy House shares a small building with the management company for the property and has limited seating inside but a nice courtyard where you could sit and watch the residents in their golf carts heading to the fitness center, postal building or walking their dogs to the nearby canal, lake or Blue Creek trails. A truly idyllic small town feeling amongst beautiful small homes. As soon as I stepped foot inside I was greeted by the owner Jonathan, and given the lowdown on the business, community, and coffee industry- a great host that told me he is an engineer by profession, but I'm pretty sure that he has a PhD in customer service! I ordered one of their signature drinks - The Philosopher's Stone; an espresso latte beverage with vanilla, cinnamon and honey. Perfect. The residents of this small community are blessed to have such a hidden gem in their neighborhood and if it wasn't so far away, Id certainly be a weekend regular.
