The employees were very friendly and welcoming. The menu has more than coffee and they also have pastries available. The baristas were moving quickly to prepare the drink orders. The cashier was knowledgeable in food and beverages. The space is actually a good size, it only appears small when you enter. It's connected to the UMB but also has a separate entrance. There's a small conference room for meetings as well as additional tables in the back side before you get to the restrooms. Some books and games are also available to occupy kids if you plan to linger. Which this is a lingering kinda spot. I ordered the honeybee latte with oat milk - it was so creamy and just enough sweetness. I think it's my new fave. Be patient- it took a little longer than expected to get my drinks. I also ordered the lemon poppyseed cake. Also very good. I think Ibis bakery supplies their baked goods. Another local fave! Roasterie also has teas, baked goods and some breakfast burritos. Not a lot of gf options. It's a tasty stop if you're in the area.

After several visits over the years, I've only had their coffee and pastries, not their cafe food. The interior is cute and there's often a queue upon entering to order at the counter, but don't let that intimidate you because it moves fast. I recommend getting some of their water on tap (both still and sparkling water are available) if you have to wait! If you're queer like me, you'll likely be drinking a cold black coffee and they have options! They have a regular cold brew in 3 sizes, a cold brew of the moment / seasonal (ask about it!) and a cold brew shandy for something different. My partner and I got two different cold brews on tap today, the original and the Seasonal Single Origin Honduran one. The single origin Honduran was better, but their original was good too. There's a lot of seating, but it's usually taken up, so I tend to just take my coffee to go. Expect to walk out for around $6ish a cup. They clearly care about providing you a good experience with a strong cup of coffee. Give them a shot if you're in downtown Overland Park!

A father and daughter duo next to me showed up in a dandy double breasted suit and a princess dress. I wish the food was as good as the vibe. The coffee, while decent, was lukewarm and the scone I got was stale and dry, coming close to inedible. This, at a cost of nearly $11 after tax. It's near terrible food definitely doesn't stop people from coming in, again, you are in one of the nicest areas of downtown OP and have limited coffee competition, so I guess food quality isn't your number one concern.

This local spot is located in the little historic Lenexa downtown, which is itself somewhat hidden away now that the Lenexa Public Market is open and draws folks that way. Coming to this stretch of suburbia feels charming and quaint, and I love that there is a really fantastic local coffee shop nestled into this shopping center. Now onto what makes this place so special. There are tons of great cafes in Kansas City, but what sets Maps apart from the pack is that they roast their own beans in house and they are all super fresh. You can taste the difference in the brew and it's a nice change of pace to have something a bit different since many of the local spots in town use the same local roasters. Once you find out about Maps you'll start to notice other cafes and restaurants that use their beans. It's not as many as say, Messenger, but Maps holds their own in this arena. They also make their own chocolate! And when I say make, I mean make. They actually make the chocolate bars and not just the candies. Even more impressive, it's damn good chocolate. Honestly, if you haven't been to this spot and have a love for coffee and/or chocolate it's well worth a visit. The cherry on top for me is how unpretentious the entire place is. You'll feel welcome, and the staff working will be happy to chat your ears off about their products. 5/5 for me!

I chose one of their seasonal menu items, a pumpkin spice latte, and was blown away by how good it was. The pumpkin flavor was nailed perfectly with the coffee. Service was incredible (for a fun surprise, enroll in the rewards program!), and the shop vibes are very relaxed. I'm looking forward to many future visits!
