Yesterday was my second visit to the Front Range Waldo location and this time it was for stop #3 of Route #3 ofthe Spring Caffeine Crawl. Of the 4 shops we visited this was by far the weakest of the presentations and offerings. We received a 4oz sample of their Ranger Maple Latte and a 5 minute presentation on the business. The drink is tasty but definitely not on the same level as what other shops were providing in the amount of different products offered for samples and certainly not for quantity when focusing on only one product. I was surprised to learn that Front Range is owned by the "Made in Kansas City" retail chain. No offense to the presenter, she was welcoming and friendly, I just think a more detailed presentation of the company as a whole could have been given. I do like the Rocky Mountain cabin vibe that they have created to make you feel that you've traveled 10 hours west and holding up in a cafe in Breckenridge. 3 stars for Caffeine Crawl experience (this location only) 5 stars for ambiance. 4 stars for product and value read more

My go-to is an iced vanilla latte. I'm a huge iced coffee person. But every time I walk into a coffee shop, I still pause for a second. I look around, take in the atmosphere, smell the coffee in the air, and just let a smile happen. The vibe matters to me, and so do the baristas. You can feel when they bring a warm presence - it makes the whole experience better. Anyway, back to the coffee. I was there with a friend, took one sip, and instantly knew... We came here a few days ago, and were surprised to get in easily, as far as getting a place to sit. Every time I've came I haven't been able to find an available booth to sit at, and finally did. I was happy for a minute or two, until I learned the reason why maybe it wasn't so busy. The Wi-Fi was problematic for me to get into a website that I needed for an online course I am taking. It just wasn't accessible. I tried some other sites that I needed and again, nothing. I asked the barista who told me others had been complaining about the problem too. So there you have it. I was pleased with the pistachio latte the barista made and for the most part everything was fine. Definitely a solid coffee shop with a strong identity. I loved the outdoorsy, western theme. Everything had a great touch. There's a lot of seating and decent parking nearby which is a plus. I ordered a plain iced matcha that was exactly what I was expecting. I asked if they were able to make a flavored cold foam with a syrup and they were only able to use the seasonal cold foam. I was also a little surprised to see that they didn't have any prices on their menu. I don't think what I ordered was overpriced, but it would have been nice to have an idea before I was at the register. read more

The latte and Hibiscus/Mango black tea was good. My husband liked his donut but my Gluten Free muffin was kind of flavorless and rather dry. We would definitely come back to enjoy the cafe. Still a good coffeeshop on the Brookside/Waldo line! I find myself not coming here too often because coffeeshops across the metro have decided that they're going with bar prices for typical coffee drinks, but I enjoy it well enough when I'm there. My latest venture in had me trying a peppermint foam cold brew and it wasn't good. The foam had no flavor and the cold brew was a bit light. For seven bucks, I'd expect better. Some of their seasonal lattes are quite good though, so that's the direction I'd lean next time in. The cozy vibes in here remain one of the biggest selling points, and it's fun to take my kids here for games and a hot cocoa on lousy weather days. Lots of treats to choose from at the counter including danishes, muffins, pop-tarts, and even ice cream. So again as an avid coffee drinker and fan, it's so much more practical to just make good coffee at home these days with the cost that doesn't match the drink, but this is usually a nice sometimes spot for a treat. read more

This is a super cute coffee shop in the Brookside/Waldo area. The bar area in the middle is always decorated pretty and the employees are always friendly. There are a few food options, but not a lot. Today, I tried to order a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich, but they were out. Instead, I got the bacon version and my standard drink order-iced caramel latte with oat milk. The sandwich was amazing. The biscuit tasted fresh and flakey, like pure homemade. The coffee was the middle ground of smooth and bitter, but really good flavor. They also serve the standard pastries but also have ice cream as well. Night time they have alcohol options, but I've never stopped in other than in the mornings. Great space to work, but I always have wifi troubles when I go, so it isn't a normal stop for me. read more

One of my favorite little places in Kansas City. I frequent the Fairway location and it's just the cutest tiniest coziest little spot. I used to study there for hours on end and the way that they transition from day to night is unparalleled. They have a fridge or pre-made eats and can also heat up some burritos and sandwiches. I've had several different options and they're all yummy. Their matcha is great and I hear great things about the coffee. I can say from a coffee standpoint, I LOVE their espresso martini. I've taken many a people here for one of those and they never disappoint! They have games, a fun and unique staff and somehow I've gotten lucky with always being able to find seating. One small shoutout to the Brookside location. The one time I visited they had a sign on the wall showing the elevation of Kansas City and that cracked me up. Great work. read more

Yesterday, I went to Front Range while it was drizzling. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed--it's not just a coffee shop, but also a small ice cream shop and a bar, all in one place! I tried a Bear Claw (with raspberry syrup), a 14-er (white mocha), and an almond croissant. Everything arrived quickly and tasted fresh and delicious. The vibe of the place is cozy, kind of like a lodge or cabin. They also have board games, books you can read, or just a quiet spot to enjoy your coffee. This is a relaxed place with a pleasant environment to sit. Parking out front was easy. The tea was good and strong enough. I'm not a huge fan though. Because: 1. For goodness sake don't order the "quiche". It's the worst egg scramble you've ever had. It's the equivalent of maybe an egg and a half, two tiny shards of broccoli and no discernible cheese, served in a paper muffin form without a crust. It didn't seem to have any custard quality. It bears absolutely no resemblance to quiche and must have cost maybe $8? Not sure. If I hadn't been ravenous I wouldn't have eaten it. A cup of tea and this ridiculous thing were $14+. 2. Not clear why I tipped. It was a long wait for them to boil some water and nuke the egg for too long (yes, it was even burned on top--I was hungry), even longer wait for the two people behind the counter to find a paper napkin. I had the impression staff were at minimum bored, at worst unhappy to be there. There certainly wasn't any service. I dunno. Nice environment to sit and chat is the main draw. But it's California prices and bizarrely low-quality food based on that one dish. I'd go back for the quiet and nice seating but wouldn't order anything other than a simple tea. I stopped in to get some morning work done between work job and found that there is a plenty of room for working and not having to bother others. They have a large coffee menu and food. There is also a full bar that features for the most part locale liquors. I got the Sausage breakfast sandwich. The biscuit crust was light and fresh, the sandwich was very tasty and a good way to start the morning. I ordered a dirty chia and it was absolutely amazing. There is so much space at the coffee shop and I love it. There are tables, couches, chairs and also a full bar area. It's great to have a coffee shop that's also open late! It's very hard to find in the KC area. The atmosphere is very outdoorsy and "lodgy" which is just feels cozy and welcoming. They always have great seasonal coffees as well as food offerings. I really like this cafe! It's a good place to get some work done or even just to meet up with a friend. There are many options for coffee and non-coffee drinks as well as bakery items. I usually get the vanilla caramel latte (the "cowboy") and the strawberry cream cheese muffin. I find the environment pretty ideal to study since the music isn't too loud. The mountain themed decor in the cafe is beautiful, I really like effort and intention that was put into the interior design--it makes the cafe quite cozy. I also like that the cafe is open later, I would say that I have had a good experience every time I've been here. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. Overall, I would recommend! I had this place in my sights ever since moving to Waldo. Just a hop skip and a jump away from my favorite bakery and a great place to fuel up on coffee during a busy day or search for a comfy WFH environment. The coffee was delicious and served in ceramic mugs for those who choose dine-in. That's a lost art that not all coffee shops accommodate to anymore so I loved to see it. The design and layout of the interior of this quaint coffee shop is comfortable and quirky. Turn the corner past the bar to find an extended and almost hidden section with additional seating. We arrived during a slower portion of the weekend. We noticed it beginning to pick up as we got ready to leave. My only wish was that we would have received a friendlier welcome upon entering. I plan to return and do some shopping in the bodega, drink some more delicious coffee, and bring my laptop to work from. read more

We have enjoyed the other location in the past so decided to check this one out. It is also a Made in KC Market so along with the cafe/bar options you can shop local items. Drinks were great. Food was good and had many options. My croissant wasn't very fresh but my daughter's muffin was great. Biscuit sandwich wasn't great. Now the lacking five star part. The service was uninviting and stiff. We go to a different cafe every Sunday and this was such a bad representation of KC. Everything else was spot on but this is where it was lacking. read more

I went to the original Front Range location in Fairway a few years ago on a whim because it was on the way into my office and while I found the coffee shop beautiful and charming, the coffee was very "meh." Flash forward to 2022 and a friend asks if I'd like to check out the new location in Waldo and I thought why not? I walked into a space that much like the orginal is meticulously decorated, seriously, thought went into every inch of this space and the hard work shows! It is simply a gorgeous interior. We found a place to sit and I ordered an iced americano. Much to my delight, this americano was perfect. I had asked for a stronger drink with less water and the barisa really delivered on what I was hoping for. To boot, this location has a really adorable local shop stocked with all kinds of goodies including candles from my fav. local candle biz, Untamed Supply. I didn't eat any of the pastries they had on display but I did get a homemade pop tart to take home to my toddler and husband, both of them said it was delish! read more

This is a cute and well decorated coffee shop with great coffee served. It is roomy for a large party and it seems like there is am area for board games. There are electric outlets available for people who need to work on laptops. The staff who served me didn't seem to have a good day but she still took my order and got it done. I got a 12oz latte and a egg&cheese waffle. The coffee was great, but I am not a fan of their breakfast waffle. The waffle are heavy in sugars, and the eggs and cheese are savory. And that irritates me since I didn't expect to have sugar intake in my supposed-to-be savory brunch. Another thing bothers me is that I can't find prices labeled anywhere on their menu, or the board on the wall (they only show the price for ice cream) And this two times cost $16 after tax. Their machine asks the tip to be added starting from 20%. Based on my experience for a 12oz latte in KC area, the waffle is around $10?? And they serves a lot of categories of drinks( tea, cocktails, and something else) and each category it's own menu. The food menu somewhat just blended in the coffee menu with a few lines on the bottom right. It gets confusing to order. I recommend to have the menu designed to be more simple and have the prices labeled. Overall, I may visit again only if it's requested to meet here or any events scheduled here. This coffee shop is so cute and cozy! It gives off Colorado cabin vibes. They had plenty of seating available however they can get pretty busy -so don't be surprised if you don't end up finding a seat. They have free wifi and free street parking. Staff isn't the friendliest. Prices are also on the higher end. I paid $7 for a regular vanilla latte and that's with no substitutes like almond milk, oat milk etc. If I'm paying $7 for a cup of coffee I at least expect it to be served in a mug and not a paper cup. I live in coffee shops.. love to work at them. I'm happy to pay a premium for a good drink and quality food to sit there and work. For focus time this is a great spot. However today I paid almost 14$ for a plain 16 oz iced coffee served in a glass to stay, plus a mozzarella-tomato quiche. The quiche should have been marketed as a crustless quiche because it was literally a 3 inch round tasteless and watery paper cup with eggs and a tomato slice on top. No mozzarella, no crust, no good. The payment device prompts you to tip 20% as the minimum and the staff doesn't even bring your stuff to you. They hardly make an attempt to make sure you get your order, never have in my experience here. They set it in the pickup area and move on. They could've easily handed me my quiche at the bar where I was sitting but instead I have to keep tabs on my own and keep getting up to check if my order is ready. It just hits me as a place out of touch with reality of what they're serving and how they're serving it to their customers.. I'll probably keep going to the Roasterie more because the quality and staff there are always top notch. If your prices are this high, you better deliver.. read more
