First time at this restaurant in Pelham New York. It was very crowded and extremely noisy. The food was all excellent except it was lukewarm. I had brunch on Mother's Day with my daughter and husband and everyone was extremely happy with their meal. The appetizers came out fast and the staff checked on us frequently to see if we were ready for our entree to come out. Not only was the food perfect, the staff was pleasant and courteous. This was actually my second visit during brunch but I plan to return again for a regular meal. I ordered the pasta with shrimp, scallops and lobster and side of mussels and lobster. All delivered by door dash. The service was timely and the food was hot. The food looked impressive and tasty. But my shrimp was soft and scallops were a little tough. My issue was there was no lobster in either of my dishes. I called to inquire and "Monique" ( I doubt that was her name) told me to call door dash to complain. She wouldn't admit or apologize that the kitchen didn't add lobster to my dish. She kept saying it's chopped up. Which I believed it would have been chopped because my the shrimp were chopped. Which that too was a disappointment- I was expecting at least 3 pieces of shrimp and prob got 2 pieces chopped. Any way I kept telling her I know lobster- and there is none in either of my dishes. No apology. No concession. Just "call" door dash. I would have been open to go back and order something else if Monique hadn't lied to my face. But I would not order either of these dishes again. You will be disappointed if you are a seafood lover. I'm pissed I wasted $50 and I am totally unsatisfied. Dinner, brunch, or for a drink, you will not be disappointed. Quiet, elegant place but not pretentious, with a great, attentive staff. The menu features seafood and pasta and you will love everything from the shellfish tower to the bowl of spaghetti. They have a full bar and even the house red is very good! Went on 8/9. Service was very good, but the food was a whole another story. Should have realized it when the food came out very fast (less than 5 mins) that the food wouldn't be fresh. Had the burrata pizza and my bf had the seafood spaghetti. The burrata pizza had what seemed "over roasted tomatoes" from a jar. The pizza was on a cracker crust, not even a real pizza crust like at a dollar pizza place or dominos. Very oily. My bf had seafood spaghetti and a quarter of the way in he felt kinda queasy. Towards the end of the meal we saw a lady at the bar order the steamed mussels and the mussels did not smell fresh. These three rice balls had a nice crunch on the outside with amazing flavors on the inside. I've been to Caffe Regatta 5 times so far and have never had anything but an amazing experience. All the food has been very well prepared and delicious, with my favorites being the flatbread the pork chop, but the calamari, crab cakes, cod, and salmon also being amazing. The wait staff is probably my favorite aspect of the restaurant. Vincent (has a shaved head) brings so much life to the meal, has never steered me or anyone that was with me wrong with a recommendation, and never leaves you waiting for more than a few seconds. Louis (I think) is also incredible never leaving your glass empty or the table littered in plates; I don't think I've ever seen him not doing work. I also don't agree with any of the reviews about people with Groupons. Every time I have been here it has been with a Groupon, and I was never looked down on or treated any differently than anybody else. Came here for brunch with my in-laws. The shrimp calamari was amazing. I couldn't stop eating them. Probably the only thing i really liked about the brunch. The crab cakes were okay, nothing too crazy. I then ordered salmon and it was over cooked. The waiter was extremely nice and helpful. All staff were attentive and as soon as our cups were low with water they would come refill it, or ask if we needed a new drink once our drinks were low. I did look through reviews and photos before going and thought the portions looked small, but they were far from small. The halibut entre was absolutely amazing! As soon as I walked into the door I had a bad feeling! The restaurant was very dark and dismal and had dried dead flowers in vases everywhere. The menu looked promising with a nice array of cuisine from Italian to seafood to steaks and chops. We ordered the Burrata appetizer which was beautifully displayed with fresh basil and roasted peppers, tomatoes. The cheese was nice and creamy and we were very happy at this point. We asked the waiter if the Swordfish Livonese over broccoli rabe and the Rigatoni Norma with roasted eggplant, basil, mozzarella cheese and San Marzano tomatoes were good, he assured us they were! We should have stopped at the appetizer, because what followed was a train wreck!! The pasta of the Rigatoni Norma was under cooked making it unpleasantly chewy. The eggplant, tomatoes and cheese atop was just a mushy mess. The sauce was not good at all! My swordfish was cut way to thick and was raw in the middle, plus it had a very pungent fish taste and smell! The broccoli rabe was over cooked and was a slimy mess! This is the first time in Tasty ladies history that we left our plates almost full, paid the bill and walked out!! We went to eat dinner down the block where we knew it would be good! First experience was a 2 dozen oyster dinner, which had us return. Sadly, the second experience was a sorry Lobster dinner with one looking okay and the other a Grandpa Simpson, it was so dry, stringy and old. My Mr. ate it because he wanted me to have the nicer one, but the entire experience was off putting. Friendly but slooow service. We had a Groupon for 4, since we had a youngster with us we had to order one regular meal which was a hamburger. The Groupon included two appetizers, so we ordered mussels and calamari. For our entrées we ordered salmon, shrimp scampi's and seafood pasta. We all enjoyed our meals, everything was delicious. The Groupon also included wine so we order a bottle of red wine. Did brunch here and glad we did. They weren't busy and we got good attentive service. Crab cakes were delicious, French toast was phenomenal (I didn't get a photo til it was already half eaten) and it's very rare the food comes out exactly as seen on the menu. We ordered the broiled lobster special, but it looked boiled as it was full of water. It was hands down the worst lobster I ever had. The lobster was cold and had smoky burn marks on them...so did the corn. This produced a nasty smell while eating. The corn was severely overcooked shriveling all the kernels and was inedible. We had a different waiter that didn't provide the same level of service we usually get. This waiter never even check on us after getting our food. Two stars for perfect fries and excellent mashed potatoes. Zero stars for the drinks and service. I ordered a gin gimlet - it was overly strong, not enough lime juice, and no simple syrup. The table also asked for a mojito without simple syrup. The server lectured us on how gin gimlets should be made; and when we asked for a mojito with no sugar the server could not comprehend the request. Further she repeatedly referred to the table as "girls." Normally we wouldn't be offended by this but her whole vibe was off as if she felt superior or something. I bought a Groupon for a dinner for two, in which I mentioned initially walking in. The woman waitress playing hostess told me I could show her my voucher with no issue. Our male waiter came over a total of 3 times during our meal which was very disappointing. Each time he came over, he seemed quite uninterested in waiting on us because we were a young Latino couple. At the end of our meal, we were given the bill at full price. Upon bringing it to the woman's attention, she immediately snapped at me for not informing my waiter when she had said she would do so when we arrived. Ok...I came here to Yelp to see if the woman who was in Caffe Regatta on Friday May 11th, 2012 had written a review. I happened to be seated next to her and her husband. All I can say is this woman was a lunatic. She stood up in the middle of a packed restaurant and started screaming about her bill. I thought she was having a marital fight with her husband, but it became clear that she was unhappy about having to pay a gratuity on her check and was yelling at the poor guy for even considering paying their bill. She was rude...to her husband, to the other patrons, to the waiters and to the poor Maitre D, who happens to be the wife of chef and co-owner. For the record, they were excused from paying their bill (and gratuity) because they were unhappy. Dare I say they were scam artists trying to get away with a free meal? At no time was anyone employed at the restaurant rude to these folks. It was handled in the most classy way you could possibly imagine. In fact, when the Maitre D walked back into the restaurant after speaking to this couple outside, she received a unanimous round of applause from the other diners. I would like to say, after reading several of these reviews, particularly the ones where a Groupon is involved, that there must be a whole new category of people who have nothing better to do than trash a perfectly good establishment for their own enjoyment. I live nearby Caffe Regatta and eat their frequently. It's a friendly, upscale, neighborhood place. The staff is extremely accommodating, attentive and knowledgable about the menu. It's always clean and comfortable and the food is great. This is a family owned and run joint and they will do anything to make their customers feel at home. I can't imagine anyone waiting an inordinate amount of time to be served, or anyone being rude to a customer. I have eaten there hundreds of times. They do a great brunch on Sundays (try the Lobster Benedict)...and if you happen to be there for dinner, try the bread pudding for dessert. It's unbelievable. read more

Initially I was starting off this review on a note much higher, (4 stars) but now that I'm looking at the groupon I'm infuriated! A friend of mine bought the lobster dinner for two groupon and we went there for dinner last week. I never looked at the groupon, obviously because I wasn't the one that bought it. Upon our arrival I told the waiter (Vinny) that we had the groupon can you please explain it to me so I understand. He said it includes two lobsters, two side dishes, two glasses of wine and "an order of a regular menu item". Looking at the groupon now, THAT'S BS!!!!! The fine print says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about having to order a menu item in addition. Seriously, go look at the groupon. (i would post the link but I don't think Yelp allows that) We already intended on getting oysters for the appetizer course anyway, but realizing that the waiter lied (perhaps to boost his tip) is disgusting and utterly unprofessional!!! The food was soooo good (oysters, loster, sweet potato fries, sauteed spinach, strawberries and cream) I wanted to return with my boyfriend but honestly I'm just so turned off by this servers LACK OF HONESTY. It's disgusting and Vinny is definitely a poor representation of the restaurant. Here's the best part - At the end of our dessert, Vinny came by do to some magic tricks. One, I had never seen. The second one, I had seen on the internet - it's when you have a tissue/napkin, you shove it through your closed fist and then you blow on your hand (tissue/napkin inside) then do a "rock/paper/scissor" motion, and then put your middle finger up. My fellow mommy friends and I were in dire need of a Girls Night Out last week, and since Pelham has limited options to fit such a bill, Caffe Regatta seemed an obvious choice. When I arrived, two of my girlfriends were already seated, sipping a cosmo-like cocktail, the bartender's creation called the "Mo" (short for Monique, one of the owners). It went down a little too easily ... sweet, but not syrupy - refreshing, but not watery. I had enough foresight to know that ordering more of those would get me in trouble, so I switched to Prosecco. In the meantime, food was in order, which included the California Spinach Salad and sweet potato fries. The spinach salad came with warm goat cheese, crisp pears and walnuts in a lightly sweet lemon vinaigrette. I got shrimp added, which came out perfectly char grilled. The sweet potato fries were delicious, but be warned, they come saturated in a maple syrup-like sauce. We closed the place down, which was fine by the staff - they didn't make us feel at all rushed and never neglected the table, even though we were so engrossed in conversation, we probably wouldn't have noticed, anyway. I wish I could give it 0 stars. I did not even sit down in the place. Walked in for brunch and was passed by 2 waiters who ignored us. We stood there while 3/4 of the place was empty. There was a hostess desk with no hostess. Finally the bus boy came over and asked If I had a reservation. I said no. He said give me a min and called over the bartender. The service is barely friendly, clearly not foodies as they answer questions or make recommendations ( if you beg them for one) and you are never welcomed as if you have been there before, even if you have gone there three times in two weeks.
