It has been quite a few years since I was here but I remember the Gelato being pretty good. So we tried to get some Gelato and a drinks and we were rudely told unless you get a meal you cannot dine, but have to go to the patio and eat there. Ok, we'll comply though we saw other people with just drinks at tables. Anyways we were mostly looking good for good gelato. I got the maple and my wife chocolate. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was THE WORST gelato I have ever had. Yes, we're spoiled with good gelato from Italy and a very special place in Portland Maine but this was down right awful. DH and I love Ogunquit Maine so many wonderful restaurants to choose from. I think this restaurant is owned by the same owners as 5-O as you park in 5-O's parking lot next door. When we got there we got a buzzer and we went next door at 5-O & had a blueberry martini our buzzer went off & we went next door and sat down for dinner what a great system! I ordered a pan pizza type dish just big enough for me and very tasty and DH had a panini with mac salad on the side very nice casual dining spot with indoor and outdoor dining on the main street of Ogunquit. Great atmosphere! We visited on closing night for the season and had a great experience. The staff was upbeat and food terrific!!!

Rude waiter telling my sister to put her leg down multiple times when it was on the chair sitting perfectly fine. He Continued to stair at her. The food wasn't cooked correctly, the ravioli was hard (25 dollars) undercooked and cold. The pizza was gross. The whole sitting area was red because of the awning. read more

We ate here a couple times during our stay. Some nice reasonably priced wines on their list started things off right. Really good food made it worth returning. Some examples: Arancini with sausage - blah. By far the most underwhelming item we had. Shrimp cocktail, avocado puree etc. - pretty good, nothing special, decent value if you got it in the 3-fer small plates combo. Mushroom confit - sublime, if you like shrooms. Marinated olives - the citrus is the secret here, gonna serve this way at home, genius! Salt cod, tomato confit, navy beans, thyme - deceptively simple but delicious. Haddock piccata - fresh, light but vibrant flavors, pasta was perfect. The highlight of our experience here. Nice porch dining, great spot for people-watching on the main drag, super-convenient location if you're staying in town. Great servers, friendly and attentive. We seldom repeat visits on vacation, but this one's a gem. read more

This small venue is an absolute must visit in Ogunquit!! The fresh tomato sauce is perfect on the Chicken Parmesan...It has just the right amount of chunkiness and blend of herbs. The Risotto is creamy and cheesy with asparagus that still has some tooth to it providing a crunch to this amazing dish...the blend of sausage and mushrooms round out the risotto with a rich and earthy flavor. Top it off with their Pistachio Martini and it was a perfect must repeat dinner!!! read more

This restaurant was fantastic. The food was really delicious and quite fresh. The outdoor patio was beautiful on a summer evening, and the waiter was very friendly as well. Yes, it was expensive, but by Ogunquit standards the prices were reasonable, particularly considering what you're getting. There's so much hype for the restaurants right on the water in Ogunquit, and you can't beat their views, but I'd easily pick this restaurant over the waterfront options. Went in for the first time on our recent vacation, after ruling it out of our plans the past few years thinking it may not be a great spot with young kids. Turns out it really is kid friendly and a great relaxing spot to enjoy a family dinner while in town. The service was great, and the meal was really one of our best meals right in town of the many spots we have tried over the years... and very reasonable pricing. Stopped in at around 8:30pm on the Fourth of July after my wife and I met the Owner Zach earlier in the day. We had dinner reservations at another place and zach suggested we should stop by after dinner for drinks, dessert and to watch the fireworks from his outside patio area at the restaurant. So we did. Greeted by Zach upon our arrival we had a couple sambucas and ordered his homemade gelato. Best you will ever have! Enjoyed the fireworks and a couple more Sambucas! Friendly staff, great gelato and great location. My wife and I checked out the menu and are looking forward to having dinner there the next time we are in Ogunquit later this summer. Stopped in for lunch. Nice ambiance. Salad was good. Meatball panino was on a delicious ciabatta bread. The consistency of the Meatballs was a little spongy, but they tasted good. We ate here with 4 adults and 4 kids and it was perfect. The staff was friendly and accommodating with the kids, it made dinner so much more enjoyable for everyone. Service was very quick and food was amazing. We had a couple different pizzas ordered, no leftovers remained. We also ordered the meat lasagna, gnocchi and haddock pasta dish. So incredible. Not sure why it's so difficult to make a decent pizza in Ogunquit, but add Caffe Prego to the list of places that can't get it right. Ok, positives: attentive service (granted, we were there for lunch, and it was almost empty), my daughter loved the salad, free refills on soda. Cons: I was looking forward to an authentic Italian pizza crust, all bubbly and chewy with fresh mozzarella and basil. It certainly smells like an Italian pizzaria. But, I ordered the margherita pizza, and I got this flat, tastless crust. The ends were like breadsticks - brittle and dry. The toppings had no flavor, the basil was nonexistent (see photo). My daughter got the kids cheese pizza, and it had more flavor, and the crust was better than mine. It really isn't difficult or expensive to make good pizza, so there's no excuse for this. I can't speak to the other dishes, but if you can't make authentic pizza, why would I try anything else? read more

Cafe Prego is the perfect end of a day at the shore. Ogunquit has a plethora of eateries but for atmosphere, fun, Italian cuisine, and a terrific G&T there isn't much better. The waitress we had was horrible. She basically forgot about us and left us sitting waiting there while we watched all the tables around us (who got there after us) get their food. Finally she came to take our order and rushed us through the whole thing. We ordered the pizza and salad combo and she didn't even tell us what kind of salad it was or what the dressing options were. In the end, we chased her down to ask and learned it was a garden salad with a house balsamic dressing. 45 minutes later, when the salad finally arrived, it was the tiniest, saddest salad I've ever seen. I genuinely thought they brought us someone else's side salad... I asked her if this was right and she gave me so much attitude. When we finally went to try the salad, it literally tasted like lettuce only. There was basically no dressing on it and there were the tiniest little amounts of carrots and tomatoes. Then 30 minutes after that, our pizza finally arrived. The pizza is the ONLY reason this restaurant got 3 starts from me. The pizza was very good. It was supposed to have onions on it though, which it only actually had on one slice... The onions were delicious but it's a shame it wasn't on the rest of the pizza. Overall we were extremely disappointed by the whole experience. I would NOT recommend eating here. read more

What a find! We've tried many restaurants in the area and many are very good but this one is outstanding! The homemade gnocchi with cream sauce, prosciutto and sage special was to die for. Every single thing we had was awesome. The gelato was so rich and creamy I'm dreaming of it as I'm writing this. Their marinara sauce (red gravy for you traditionalists) was wonderful and the meatballs delicious. We've been to Italy twice and this is the closest we've had to their remarkable cuisine. This place beats many of the restaurants in the North End and that's a major accomplishment since the North End is the only place we go when we're hankering for some fresh mutz. What a wonderful surprise to find this place. The wait time feature on Yelp was a nice touch which is why we chose this place last night. It tells you the wait time and you can add yourself to the list without going to the restaurant and they text you when your table is ready. It's Sunday on Labor Day weekend as I write this and we've decided to go back to Ogunquit/Perkins Cove this afternoon to walk along Marginal Way and to dine at Caffe Prego. This was the biggest saddest disappointment. It was our first time in Ogunquit since Covid and we were looking forward to eating at Caffe Prego again. We showed up around 7. We are told it's an hour wait and that is for an inside table. We decide to wait, because we love Caffe Prego. We get our table 30 minutes later. Great. Inside. It's hot and stuffy and crowded. Our waitress keeps bumping my chair every time she walks by. Every time. We order. She seems very confused by our wine order. "So two glasses?" You don't even sell that wine by the glass. A bottle please. We ask for water. She huffs that somebody will bring water eventually. Somebody does. Warm water in warm glasses. The appetizers are delicious. Yay. The main course. The pizza is too thick and tasteless. The toppings are heavy and oily. Is our memory wrong? Did we really love this place? My daughter ordered the veggie lasagna. It's basically a mountain of cauliflower and broccoli under one layer of lasagna and cheese. My other daughter's bolognese looks good. When we are done, they ask if we want it to go. We say sure, we'll take the leftover pizza, thinking it will be ok on the beach tomorrow. They bring a box and leave. All our plates are still on the table full of leftovers. Even the appetizer plates are still in the middle. The waitress brings the bill. Me: oh. But we wanted dessert. Waitress: oh. Ok. What do you want for dessert? Me: What are the options? Waitress: good question. I have no idea. She brings the dessert menu. We eventually order dessert. It arrives while our table is STILL covered in dirty plates and leftovers. There is nowhere to put it. I pile the leftovers to make room for the dessert. My daughter's is not what she ordered. My son's tiramisu is COVERED in chocolate sauce. He declared it terrible. He is 8, but he knows a bad tiramisu. We are obviously never going back. I don't understand what happened, as it used to be absolutely amazing. I am a little sad. read more

Anyone who says this is true Italian food is out of their mind. The pizzas are made with pre-made crusts. (the kind you get two to a package for $5 in the supermarket) They literally are perfectly round circles which have the little holes in them! I think they call them 'Boboli' or something in the supermarket. To call these 'brick oven pizzas' is an insult to pizza. We thought at first we were given a gluten free crust by mistake but the waiter said that it was the original crust. The atmosphere is nice and that is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars. The people we were dining from come from Italy and they looked puzzled and said, 'This pizza is made with a giant cracker?' My dining companion said that it was more of a 'flatbread' than a pizza. I absolutely cannot understand how anyone would consider this to be good pizza ... instead of using the hand made mozzarella cheese or Buffalo mozzarella ... it is the cheaper hard 'stick' mozzarella which is cut into slices and placed on the pizza. We ordered the Margarita Pizza, The Fig and Prosciutto Pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs. The Margarita was not memorable (except for the giant cracker as a crust) ... The Fig pizza was basically a pizza with dried figs which tasted like big raisins (way too sweet), pesto sauce which was the best part of the pizza, and what seemed like supermarket ham crumbled onto it. Prosciutto, I don't know about ... seemed like Cold Cut ham to me. The Fig pizza was a whiff. Everyone thought it tasted like eating a 'candy pizza' as the sweetness of the dried figs (not fresh) completely overpowered the dish. There also was no balsamic drizzle. The spaghetti and meatballs was about the only decent dish we had but honestly, it tasted like any other Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is good here ... they have white lights, lots of pine trees and orange everywhere, which is a traditional Italian color for restaurants. They were playing cheesy American-ized Italian music like Dean Martin and those 'Music of Italy' compact discs that you get at the dollar store. However, oddly it did feel like a tourist restaurant in Italy which was transported into the middle of Ogunquit. Authentic ... no. Touristy ... yes. But the outdoor dining was welcome. Don't go here expecting fresh pizza or authentic Italian cuisine. Go here for a touristy Italian experience and for a meal that will be remembered more for the atmosphere and the conversation than the food. I can't believe I am giving a place that uses pre-made pizza cracker crusts and then calls them Brick Oven pizzas 3 stars ... but it was a nice meal for the surroundings. read more

Stopped at Caffe Prego for breakfast on a sunny Saturday morning early October. We sat on the front patio which had a nice view of the busy street and sidewalk. We ordered a traditional breakfast and blueberry pancakes. Breakfast included fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, nicely seasoned potatoes and homemade toast. Pancakes were thin, a bit sweet and delicious. Overall it was a good breakfast and we'll be back. read more

Two words. Homemade. gelato. Really, it was quite delicious. A gorgeous patio, and heated outside area as well as a sweet indoor cafe make this an ideal place for an afternoon of leisure. Sad to say we have frequented Cafe Prego every Sunday the past 12 years always ordering the pizza and cappuccinos. Now The pizza is so disappointing that we haven't been more than twice this year. It started declining last year but this year it is now not edible! The pizza crust is tasteless. Please bring back the pizza dough you used to use. read more
