Stayed at Fiona Hotel is San Francisco for Queen w/ Adam Lambert concert for my birthday. The next morning, we had an excellent breakfast sandwich. They have pastries, great coffee. Reminds me of a deli in any big city. Staff was outstanding! Secret to eating away from your home stomping ground is watch where locals go. They always know where good food, great price, and service is. I do recommend this place for a quick yummy breakfast or lunch. See ya again...

We stayed at the Hotel Fiona just a few buildings down. We stopped here for breakfast and were happily surprised! We got breakfast sandwiches and they were all so delicious! The croissant bread was soft and buttery. The bacon was cooked crispy. We got smoothies after eating and they were so good! Creamy like milkshake but tasted fresh like a smoothie! Would highly recommend this place! The worker was working alone and doing amazing too!

My first and last time going here!!! I bit into my breakfast sandwich and found a piece of plastic!

Banh mi... lotsa bread not too much meat.

For anyone saying the banh mi are the best are heavily inaccurate. They are good but not anything I'd travel across town for. My kids prefer American for breakfast and I prefer Asian so I ordered Banh mi to get my fix and the kids got ham and egg croissants. The meat proportions in the banh mi are low in a sandwich that costs $8. I expected the bread to be super soft and fresh since there seems to be donuts here also per Yelp. The bread was thick and a bit tough. The meat proportions were low. It satisfied the craving but I certainly would not call it the best or one of the best. The orange juice was nice and fresh. The reason I ordered was because of how early they open compared to other banh mi shops.

This place offers a solid croissant sandwich for $6.50 (toasted buttered croissant with your choice of meat, 2 eggs, and cheese). Although it's not anything completely blow-your-brain our spectacular, imagine one of those huge croissant sandwiches you make at home when you decide to be responsible and eat in, while not skimping on any of the toppings and tasting to be extra fancy. Doughnut holes were cheap and big but not entirely warm/hot. This is definitely a place to check out if you are in the mood for a solid croissant sandwich. I would not necessarily drive across town to this place simply because it's not one of those sit and chill with your friend sort of places (more of a grab and go). Will come back for the croissant and also the pastries and coffee while I'm at it!

I knew Caffe Moda was somewhere down 7th Street, but I just didn't know what motivated them to move to my neck of the woods. There isn't much foot traffic in these parts during the day when they're open. I don't blame them for not being open in the evening, but I think they could thrive more if they were open on Sunday and had longer hours on Saturday. The place is always empty when I walk by, so I don't think people are prone to discover it. I just don't if people ever will unless you count the armies of foreign tourists from the adjacent motels. It's a big space but not particularly inviting. The place lacks warmth to become a real hang-out spot. They offer a long list of sandwiches and coffee drinks as well as a few salads. That's really it. I tried a $5.95 BLT, a modest sandwich on sourdough (see photo). It was perfectly decent but nothing that would stand out in your mind five minutes after you ate it. Their coffee drinks are more Baskin & Robbins than Starbucks. I was convinced by the zealous manager to order a $4.55 Iced Marble Mocha, which was really just a puckery-sweet shake (see photo). But maybe if they turned the place into an ice cream parlor, now that would be different... FOOD/COFFEE - 3 stars...no real complaints, just leaves the memory faster than the palate AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...big but not cozy SERVICE - 3 stars...not much to it TOTAL - 3 stars...if you need a pit-stop on 7th, I guess....

New owner. Place is brand new. First time walking by. I got French crueller. Will be back with friends to try the $6.50 sandwiches.

Their prices are a bit higher than average, but Caffe Moda offers an amazing selection of hot and cold sandwiches, specialty paninis and fresh salads. In addition they carry breakfast pastries, fresh fruit, snack chips and a large selection of bottled cold drinks. I'm not a regular customer, but I have dropped in on several occasions for a fresh made to order sandwich. Today I had cold roast beef on a ciabatta roll with provolone cheese, a little mayo, lettuce and tomato (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/G5zryawBAp-cKJTyZDMhOg?select=BFSHq05hFfBmehB_1Dxy_w). The portion of meat was good and the tomatoes and lettuce were crispy fresh. I usually take my food to go, but should I ever choose to eat in there are lots of available tables and chairs and even an overhead television for diners to enjoy. This restaurant is always kept clean and the staff is very friendly.

Yes, Caffe Moda is just the lunch counter for the Sega building, which happens to be open to the public. What can I say? Leaving your office for lunch, only to go to the office across the street is just one of life's perverse little pleasures. Caffe Moda's main attraction is that it's small, unlike the agoraphobia-inducing cafeterias you sometimes get in these situations. Indeed, the low-ceiling and windows looking out on a random hallway give it a kind of campus-rec-center-basement vibe. The sandwiches are actually pretty good, especially the Rafi, with chicken, brie and apple. But for $6.95 the portions were a little too small. So, all in all, worth checking out if you work on this block; otherwise...well, you've probably stopped reading by now anyway.

$6 for a single waffle (I took a small bite before I took the photo :P)

I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

At 11 am on a Sunday they were out of their best- black sesame Kouign Amann and the Raspberry Almond Croissant, which I took care of by paying a visit to Juniper bakery (sister business) later in the day. The Mocha with the house made nut milk fell flat. It needed something. I am not a fan of syrupy coffees and appreciate the more purist approach but this one just didn't do anything for me. The chai latte which I would never order was actually the best chai latte I have ever had, it was smooth like silk. Maybe I just had the wrong coffee order. Besides that, got the hot chocolate and the coffee tasting. I was surprised there was no explanation provided with the coffee- I figured it's all Honduran but an overview of some sort would have helped. I enjoyed all the coffees in there except the latte. Will visit again, earlier in the day so they are not out of their best sellers and try a different order.

But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.

Having a drink in hand already, I refrigerated one of the gifted items before putting the other two there too. Watching my sugar intake these days, I waited until the next morning to start on the strawberry matcha latte, medium ice, half sweet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=0O5eaeZuKxCM2GU2ur3cEA); this is a take on a flavor combination that is a signature one for a local boba tea company.
