The breakfast sandwich on a bagel was delicious with lots of customization options. My oldest son really liked the short stack with chicken apple sausage and hash brown patty! We were visiting from out of state so we likely won't happen upon this place again, but we would recommend it to anyone staying in the area. This beautiful sandwich was only $8. I don't know why but this was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I ever had. I always make sure to get one whenever I am in the area. I came in with low expectations, but this place completely exceeded them. I was nearby working in the area and decided I'll stop by to check it out. I was surprised by their menu selections. I didn't have high hopes for the food I ordered but was pleasantly surprised by how good their food was. It was so delicious that I came the next day. Got a burger here and it was okay. For $7, I would've liked more lettuce and tomato in my burger, but I guess it's hard for mom and pop places to make ends meet nowadays. Service from the young man at the counter was friendly and efficient. A bunch of his friends were outside the cafe chatting and smoking and after he took my order he went outside to join them. Having them there made the area seem safer; they were all respectful and friendly enough. And the young man went back to work as soon as my order was ready! A gem! I work in the area and wanted breakfast. Decided to come in on a whim and I'm so glad I did. No frills, mom-and-pop shop that serves up delicious food. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sliced sourdough bread, eggs, cheese, chicken apple sausage, and a hashbrown patty. It was exactly what I needed. Super satisfying! I want to start off by saying I've been a loyal customer since 2009. I'm leaving this review because a of a very disrespectful experience my mother had here today. She walked in and clearly ordered in English, asking for a turkey sandwich. The cashier (An asian man) immediately told her, "No, don't speak Spanish", even though she had spoken English. The cook stepped in and she repeated her order again in English. The cook didn't acknowledge her after she repeated her request. The chaser then told her, "He doesn't speak Spanish", even though she wasn't speaking Spanish to begin with. He then walked outside to talk to his friends in a parked car, leaving my mother there confused and ignored. She ended up leaving without being helped. This was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. My mom has always had a good experience here with the usual cashier (a white man), but this interaction was unacceptable. People deserve to be treated with basic respect and no customer should be dismissed or ignored like that. That'll be the title of my autobiography and it'll be right in the bargain bin between Snooki's "A Shore Thing" and Lance Armstrong's "It's Not About the Bike. It's About Me Cheating". That's because I crave a donut every now and then, just a plain one, no icing, no powdered sugar, and yep, I come here even though this intersection can get pretty sketch. They also serve sandwiches, burgers and a surprisingly robust selection of hot plates from French toast to Mongolian chicken over rice. I've seen people eat them there in the pandemic. I was craving breakfast/Asian food this morning and I saw All Star Cafe opened at 5AM! I went at 7:10AM and it wasn't open yet. It opened at 7:30AM. There were 2 people ahead of me who waited since 7, and a steady line of people as I grabbed my beef & shrimp chow mein to go. It was pretty good, better with Sriracha, and fed me about 1.25 meals haha. I'll be back for their loco moco, bfast sandwich, and traditional bfast stuff! read more

All Star Cafe is truly a gem in the concrete jungle of San Francisco. During the very beginning of COVID, the beautiful people of All Star Cafe have not stopped their grind. They have kept their original pricing and still deliver quality food every time. I have been here more than 5 times this year and each time has been consistently amazing. I really enjoy talking with the people here, you can tell that they're all about the community. It's a refreshing experience since all these big box stores are taking over San Francisco. I swear when I worked in SoMa this place was just a donut shop. Now they have an impressively diverse menu from club sandwiches, burgers, omelettes to Hawaiian (katsu, loco moco, BBQ) and Asian (teriyaki, curry) plates. Prices are average for the city ($10-$12 for plates, $7-$10 for most sandwiches). In a rapidly improving pocket of SoMa, this corner is still pretty sketch but the hard-working crew bustling behind the counter made time for me to buy two grab 'n' go donuts. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy your meal. It was a boho/construction/Mid-Market mixed nuts crowd and two Twitterari from up the block. It was the most diverse gathering I'd seen in San Francisco since 2003, refreshing. I hadn't eaten the day before: I stuffed that donut in my mouth like a Labrador carrying a chew toy and wheeled around Mission Street heading for the freeway. Even if I hadn't been ravenous, that donut was pure heaven: Pillowy and fresh and bursting with strawberry jelly. I licked sugar off my lips as I merged onto 80E. All Star Cafe opens early at 6 am so if you're at any after hour clubs in the neighborhood, head over here. Club sandwiches are $10 but they're not slouching, it's aioli not mayo, pesto and sautéed mushrooms and the double 1/4 lb. cheeseburger is a square deal at $8.50. The donut was fabulous. read more

It's fast and convenient, and I would eat here every weekend if I weren't concerned with maintaining dat elite status. Solid breakfast joint. Stumbled upon this place while going to a very seedy enterprise to pick up the rental. You walk in and place your order at the counter. They give you a number if you order one of the few dine in options. My friend loved his donuts and drip coffee while I absolutely devoured my chicken apple sausage with eggs and toast. My coworkers and I saw the steak fries on yelp and we HAD to get them. Unfortunately they're not on menu but you can just ask for them! The fries come topped with sauce, onions, beef, and green onions. The best part about them is probably the garlic aioli... SO BOMB! The fries themselves are crunchy even with the sauce. I shared this with 2 other coworkers and it was the perfect size for 3 of us, although we were pretty stuffed afterwards. See my pic for reference! Stopped in here while trying to kill some time before taking Bart to a band rehearsal and I was SO blown away by the quality of the burger. When you first enter the place it looks like an amazing donut shop and I was about to just get donuts until I noticed that they had burgers and sandwiches. I got the hangover burger which comes with an over-medium egg, garlic aioli sauce, and what seemed like genuine magic on top. It was absolutely phenomenal! Very well cooked and so much amazing flavor I got 6 glazed donut holes for dessert and it was the cherry on top of an amazing and quick dinner. The BEST donuts around SF! No lie. I was pleasantly surprised of how soft & delicious their donuts were. I tried one of their simple chocolate donuts & it was so good. I can't explain but basically it was perfect! The shop has a nice clean display of donuts soon as you walk in. The selection is great also. Aside from their simple selection of basic donuts, they also have danishes, bagels, croissants & those specialty donuts as well to choose. I have not tried their hot grill items but word is that they have an amazing menu for lunch aside from the sweets. My main advice would be to not let the outside location discourage you from visiting. The area outside where it's located doesn't have the best presentation (homeless mostly) but soon as you walk in it's a completely different atmosphere. All Star Cafe is a convenient stop or breakfast or a quick bite to keep your hunger down. Having come here basically every morning and for a few lunches, I have to say that their bakery is where they have a strong hand. The donuts are chewy and the glaze is just enough. There are some days that they burn the outside of the donuts too much, but in general, the donuts are basically Krispy Kreme quality. As for the lunch, I didn't like it as much. The menu is a bit messy since it has everything. Of course, it's good if you're craving something, for example I was craving Chinese, and you get to satisfy that craving pretty quickly. But the food is pretty average, and the portions are also pretty small. Overall, quick service, nice staff, and a good place for breakfast or anything quick. read more
