    Pastry selection

I'm a Krispy Kreme girl for life but when I saw doughnuts and pastries being advertised on the Too Good To Go app from Sam's Bakery I decided to give them a try. My hotel was about a mile from the bakery so I decided to walk. The location isn't in the best of neighborhoods so I would advise driving. I arrived on a late Friday afternoon and they still had plenty of doughnuts and pastries left for sale. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice and took care of my order quickly. Sams bakery offers day old products at an extremely discounted price through the Too Good To Go program. You can't pick specific items and the selection varies daily. To my surprise, I received quite a large paper bag of baked goods during my visit. I could tell they obviously weren't "fresh out of the oven" but they were still tasty. Out of the 7 or 8 pastries that I was given, my favorite was the cinnamon roll that was literally bigger than my hand! I'd definitely order that again on a future visit. I'm sure all of it would be even better fresh!

Sam's was a block away from where I stayed while in SF this year. I went a couple of times, as it was conveniently located. When you walk in the space is pretty open. They have two display cases. One with donut, and pastry selections. Ordering was a bit challenging due to the plexiglass, but post Covid it's the norm. The lady behind the counter was friendly, but a bit quiet behind the glass. Visit one, I grabbed three donuts. A custard bar, which looks like large eclair, a jelly and a butter crunch? They were pretty good, not the best donuts but better than Dunkin. Visit two, I got a custard bar and a ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. Obviously, I like the custard bar, but the sandwich was it up to par. The bagel was stale, the egg was either made from powdered eggs or was pre made and reheated, and the ham looked and tasted like Taylor's pork roll (which I like, but it's not ham). I would stick to the pastries.

My second visit to Sam's. So good that I ordered at the Denver Airport. Sam's is my top doughnut place. They freeze well so I can keep a stash here. I know people like their pricey breakfast items but sometimes you just want a good, big doughnut. This stuff is incredibly good. Service is so welcoming. The store is so clean with a large selection. And walking to it from O'Farrell and Van Ness you can give the finger or thumbs up to the Tesla Dealership depending on your viewpoint.

They have a huge selection of beautiful glistening donuts and assortment of pastries. I got the croissant, raised glaze, maple bar, and jelly filled. My favorite was the maple bar and it wasn't too sweet. The lady that helped me was very sweet and accommodating as I slowly picked out what I wanted. There's only a place to sit by the window so it's more of a grab and go but you can still people watch for a moment but the vibe isn't really a hang out spot. Would absolutely come back.

This place odd a lot like Bob's! Not only does it smell amazing inside, but if you're lucky enough to catch something fresh, but two of them! We were drawn in by the smell of fresh croissants, but ended up, leaving with a few additional donuts. While the croissants, refresh and amazing, the donuts were delicious when we tossed them in the toaster for a few seconds. Especially the maple and chocolate covered ones. If you're not near Bob's , and try to put aside the tenderloin aspects of the exterior, there is a real treat inside !

I've stopped by here a few times while in the area, and it's always been a pleasant experience. The staff is kind, the banh mi's are solid and the pastries are fresh and tasty!

This place has tasty baked goods and the lady at the counter is super nice. They only take cash below $5, otherwise they charge extra for credit card, so if you're only trying to buy one or two donuts, you need to have cash! There's no seating inside so this is a stop-and-go kind of place. I got two of the Old Fashioned Donuts and they were so chewy and sweet! I want to come back and try one of their sandwiches next time.

I made a reservation via Yelp for 3 people on a Saturday at 11:15am. My table was ready on time and they seated me even though our full party was running late. I got the Omelette Fried Rice (4.5/5), that came with delicious sriracha bacon, and an okay salad on the side. For my drink, I got the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk (5/5), which was fantastic. It's on the sweeter side, which worked for me. It was fairly busy and a bit loud inside. The dining room is long and narrow but has a decent amount of seating. Service was good, and friendly.

In my opinion Lapisara ranks in the middle due to the other excellent options available. Seated immediately--had a reso but on a Wednesday morning not really necessary. It took a long time for the single employee to get to us but we weren't in a hurry. Cappuccino was very good in a cute "bear mug" and very reasonably priced. We shared a pacific omlet--not much crab, lots of shrimp, and nice swiss cheese/scallions but tasted kind of fishy--potatoes were only avg. Son said huevos rancheros were average. Price point good for SF and portions adequate to share. Location convenient so we will try dinner there tonight before a comedy show nearby. Dinner-5++ stars; 4 of us Had dinner last night-6pm-reso but not needed. only one other group dining. Single Waitress was great-we let her know we needed to leave in about an hour for a show and she timed everything perfectly--we even had time for dessert. we ordered so many items that she brought over an extra table--we shared everything family style. Most Yelp reviews only mention brunch but the dinner was awesome--service; food: taste/quality, presentation, portions, prices we phenomenally low for SF ($200 with a bottle of wine for 4 people). We started with the garlic butter clams-small but tasty. Tuna tartar was excellent quality and enough to share. Samosas were more like empanadas--very good with peanut sauce so good it rivaled my own home made. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. Creme Brulee was very good with lots of fresh fruit accompaniment My only complaint was a very limited wine selection. Lapisaia will become one of our regular spots for dinner!!!

The Citron stood out to me. I like that hint of orange and sea salt goodness. This is a must try! I couldn't help it and got the "Big Hip" - HAHAHA. It's their famous deep-fried French toast. OMG, it's too good and it went straight to my hips. It's crunchy outside and fluffy inside. The service is good and definitely quick. The potatoes were nicely cooked with plenty of crispy pieces, and the eggs came out exactly as we requested. Both sausages were flavorful, although we both slightly preferred the chicken apple sausage. The pancakes were the only part of the meal that didn't quite win us over. The texture was softer and mushier than we expected. We were hoping for something a bit lighter and cakier. Between the two, my boyfriend preferred the almond flour pancakes. Overall, I think Plow is worth trying, but it's not a place I'm in a rush to return to.
