My favorite Ladro. It's more than just the coffee but the vibe of the shop and the people there. Nestled in a little strip mall at the "5 Corners" in Edmonds, this little cafe is a great place to have a coffee, study, meet friends, or even grab a quick lunch. What I love most about the Ladro brand is the coffee. It's not that acidy, overly burnt tasting coffee that the naked mermaid tries to pawn off to Seattle folk as good coffee. The baristas take time to make your drink and are great with following direction. What I love is how they will actively ask if you are having your coffee for here, which I think is a great way to cut back on the waste that coffee cups can leave behind. When I go here I generally sit and stay, read a book or play around on my iPhone/iPad. Recently I had one of the best made "usuals" yet, my usual is a simple drink but you'd be surprised how often it doesn't get made right. An Americano with a 1/2 inch of steamed soy, or steamed soy foam if I want a stronger drink. Only one other place makes my usual so awesome. I got to Caffe Ladro probably 3 minutes after closing and I just wanted to purchase one of those pre-made drinks in their refrigerator section. The guy cleaning the tables started at me and the girl waived me off with 0 empathy or acknowledgment that she felt bad I had just missed their hours of operation. Lovely coffee, delicious pastry, and beautiful foam on those lattes. The shop is sweet and romantic, perfect for an afternoon date on a rainy Sunday afternoon. My husband had the mocha, which was delicious and not too sweet. My latte was heaven in a heavy porcelain cup. Baristas were friendly and very, very good at their craft. I really enjoy Ladro's roast. It's lighter than some, and really has a smooth taste. The creaminess of the espresso paired really well with steamed milk. The foam was so velvety, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. This spot is blissful, and it's a nice spot heading down into the bowl of Edmonds. We'll be back for more afternoon dates at this sweet spot! read more

I used to go to Caffe Ladro often when I used to study a lot. It's a great place and probably one of the only places where I can focus on my studies. The music doesn't bother me at all and sometimes they play good ones like The Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible". Oh and free WiFi always makes things better. As for their coffee and pastries, I love. I love that they ask me before they make mine if i want organic milk cause I always forget to request that. Their cereal bar is so delicious and so is their strawberry tart pie.. I think that's what it's called. The workers there are friendly and nice too. I wouldn't exactly say it's a cozy place... but it's good enough for me. read more

I really like Caffe Ladro. The coffee is excellent. The staff is super friendly. The pastries are amazing ( they have ham and cheese croissants, my fav!) I love their half and half Chai Tea Lattes. I wish, I wish I could give this site five stars; Hannah and Angela deserve them (along with their other coworkers, whose names I don't know). I'm not a coffee aficionado so I don't feel confident in my evaluation of their roasts, but the raspberry scones! Oh, what a way to start the day when you can't sleep past 6am. If you're headed for this drive-through between 6am and 7am, drive straight up to the window; they ask that you place your order there to minimize noise for their neighbors. Also, be sure to give yourself ten minutes to sit in line and another five for your order to be processed. They usually only have one person on shift that early, which doesn't make sense to me given how many people in Edmonds are early risers or/and retirees, all of whom love their coffee shops. Walk-ins tend to be seen to faster than drivers; I don't know if this is the policy, but I've seen it happen with every barista who has eventually handed me the scone I came for. Don't get me wrong; this is a good experience, and everyone who works here is lovely. Hannah and Angela are the two I see most often, and they are such a delight to chat with even though they're rushing about. There's another fellow (ETA: his name is Dustin) who remembers my order, and he's quite friendly and always apologizes for the delay. If I ever came here without needing to rush I would have nothing negative to say except that there aren't enough big comfy chairs; there's plenty of seating overall, but I like the deep burgundy plush armchairs for comfort's sake. There are also a couple of wrought-iron tables and chairs outside for good-weather seating, and when Mieko's was still next door it was a special treat for me to have an early workout and then cool down with a scone and a latte before heading home. As it is, I head out early on the workdays when I want a scone and spend more time waiting than I would like, but obviously, it's worth it. read more

I have been here 5 times now. Every time I have been here I order 3-5 drinks, (big family) and they have never gotten the whole order correct. So sad because I absolutely love the Ladro on 196th. Would recommend the 196th caffe instead. But there is a ton of parking here lol read more

I'm amending my review because one of my biggest complaints is the wifi being flakey. It appears they've replaced the wifi access point and it works wonderful now. A full 5 stars! I'm drinking drip now as they have some pretty good ones but Fremont is my favorite with Ladro second. The vegan oat bars are still killer but you have to get there by noon to get one. read more

First time to Cafe Ladro despite my friends always raving about it. I had a pumpkin spice latte (gotta get them while I can) and to go with it a pumpkin scone - I know, how "basic" of me. Well the latte was excellent, not too sweet. And the scone was very moist and went perfect with the latte. Next time I want to try the raspberry scone. My husband loves dirty chai lattes which is what he had. He likes it down the middle, half sweet half spicy. He said it was one of the better chai's he's had. The loveliest bunch of coffee brewing people in town. Fresh pastries. Lots of seating and free WiFi. They have one large table suitable for a gathering of friends or meeting. And when the weather is nice, there's outdoor seating as well. Local artists displays too. read more

I live nearby and spent a lot of time here when I needed wifi. The staff is super friendly, the location is clean and easy to get to, and everything I've ordered has been excellent. I'm also very scatterbrained, and have twice tried to leave without actually paying or taking my order. I come here once in a while with friends to do homework because they have an amazing atmosphere that isn't too loud like at Starbucks. However, what bothers me is that every time I come in and set my stuff at a table or have a handful of homework to indicate I'm working there they still give me a to go cup. Other customers never have to ask for a mug, it is always given but every time I come they assume I want a to go cup. The customer service is a hit or miss depending on who is working. Sometimes there's a really nice man who will bring your drink to the table if they see you working and pick up your dishes. Another employee didn't even acknowledge me until I spoke up to order. The coffee is pretty overpriced for I paid five dollars for a tall Carmel macchiato and it was not amazing nor filled to the top. read more

It's a neat little coffee shop that has great pastries and a few select breakfast items. I normally get the quiche for breakfast and it is delicious! The coffee is okay. The staff is super friendly and always smiling. The overall atmosphere of this coffee shop is quiet, mostly elderly people lounging around reading the paper. So, it's a great place to study. I came to this Ladro last winter. I was scheduled to take the GRE at the testing center nearby at the very same time a bizarre snow storm hit Seattle. The day before my exam, I knew the weather would be trouble, so I planned to leave home several hours early, find a coffee shop close to the exam center, and study until my exam time. That way, if I skidded off the road, or some other calamity befell me, I'd still have time to make my exam. Ladro in Edmonds was that coffee shop. No calamities occurred, so I spent about 3 hours here doing practice exams, slurping coffee, and fortifying with pastries. It was so comforting to have the quality coffee I know and love in Seattle available to me at this time. I'm sure it is at least partially responsible for my perfect score on the GRE (just kidding, no perfect score - but I did get into grad school)! In summary, Ladro is good for the brains. Perhaps the best cappuccino in the area. One sip and I want to exclaim to strangers HOW GOOD it is! Typically I add a little sugar to my cappuccino but not here - don't want to do a thing to ruin it! I suggest ordering it in a big mug and sitting down to enjoy. Too lovely for a paper cup - and it's always nice to have a little design in your drink. I rarely go because it's out of my way but it's enough to make one reconsider her daily path. read more

Plenty of tables, free wifi, good coffee, rice and soy milk alternatives, and they are one of the few coffee shops I've been to that doesn't sweeten the lattes to the point where it feels like the enamel is being chewed off your teeth. :D The only downside is that they're on the pricy side--about a dollar more for my grande latte here than at Starbucks and most other coffee shops I visit. read more
