After having a disappointing experience at Antico's pizza nearby, decided to go get some gelato since it was in the vicinity and who can say no to gelato, right?! Cafe Antico was no better. It's a cute shop from the outside but inside it is a bit small and limited seating. However, you can sit outside since there's more tables. Looking at the flavors with Italian names, it was a bit hard to decide what to get. What made it worse was seeing the dreaded NO SAMPLES sign! I was a bit appalled/flabbergasted/ suprised that they don't allow samples. This crushed my heart..okay I'll stop over exagerating but for any gelato/ice cream place, samples are a must! If im going to pay $5 for a small scoop of gelato with a circular cone piece garnishing it, you better let me try before I buy. Just saying. I picked out a salted caramel flavor and it was good not great. Would I come back here? No, not even if it was on someone else's dime. Owners-pleae rethink your policy. read more

Great gelato flavors! We came here after we ate Gio and it's a great dessert place. Many different flavors to chose from too! Will be back read more

Legit gelato in the city (if you want to know what's legit, just look at how the gelato is displayed--if it's raised super high in piles of a mountain of gelato, it's not legit. It's only legit if it's packed to the brim of the ice box area. Because it's gelato, not ice cream. Now you know, so don't get scammed). Weird how they give you only one flavor to taste. Biscotti e crema is literally cookies and cream and tastes just like that. If you like pistachio, they have a good flavor here. If you want moody teens/young adults serving you, this is where you should go! read more

Ok I am someone who takes my thin crust pizza VERY seriously and this place is probably the best I've had in my 10+ years in Ga. I order the "diavola" (basically a spicy pepperoni pizza) and Prosecco (overpriced for the miniature bottle but I digress), but I would certainly order both again as the pizza is rather salty and what's pizza without a cocktail?! When I return I will bring my own alcohol as this place is a game changer and patrons are allowed to "byob"!! My SO order the margherita d.o.p with fungi and although I wasn't a fan they really enjoyed. Also please note the seating sucks as it seems like veterans come in early and leave late but the pizza makes up for it tenfold. Thank me later! read more

Slow, unorganized service and extremely small, pre-frozen cake portion for the price. You're better off going down the sidewalk to Cafe Intermezzo. read more

Stopped in yesterday, and while the patio area and interior of the cafe are clean, the bathrooms were WRECKED. There were no paper towels to be found, except sodden and thrown all over the floor. I had to go into the other bathroom to get the last remaining shred of toilet paper. There's a taped up hole in the wall, soap dispenser on ground, multiple plastic cups discarded on floor, etc. Just gross. I went to order a drink at the bar area, and when I received it, I noticed an ant floating on the top of the drink. Tbh this was something I was just going to pick out myself rather than waste the drink. But the bartender noticed me point out the ant to my friend, and she gestured for me to give her the drink back. I thought she would perhaps pour a new drink, but no, she picked out the ant for me and gave the cup back to me lol. Thanks? To be generous, maybe she didn't realize it was an ant... I think for $13, getting an insect-less drink is kind of bare minimum. Personally I was also put off by the fact the drinks came in plastic cups rather than glass, as I'm sure a lot of that gets tossed in the trash rather than recycled. read more

Walked in. Asked what the pink ice cream was. The lady rolled her eyes. Looked away. AND WHILE CHEWING GUM ON TOP OF ALL THE HELATO said strawberry with the will of working of a child who would rather be playing on Snapchat than be serving and providing service. We immediately left. The idea of that sort of hygiene issue plus the lack of customer service was an absolute turn off. I am so disappointed because the place is so cute and the pizzeria was great. Send in fake customers to check in on your lazy and rude staff. read more

The salted caramel gelato is great. They do give 1 sample per customer. The pistachio gelato wasn't anything special tho, similar taste to blue bells pistachio ice cream. read more

This little hidden gem is worth a go. The gelato is delicious. Hand scooped by angels. Great for date night!

Quaint little gelato place and perfect for walkable dessert after eating some Antico's pizza! The gelato was pretty good, 3 stars worth, but my 4th star attributes to the overall atmosphere and cute, intimate setting. No samples for gelato- this was a 1st for me! If you come in a group, have someone order first and you can at least get a little sample of theirs :P the 2 scoops was more than enough for 2 people. My fiancee and I got the fragola (strawberry) and hazelnut. I liked the fragola more. My other 2 friends shared cappuccino and pistachio which were also pretty good! The gelato flavors are deep and pretty strong and the texture is creamy. read more

It is really delicious gelato but why there are no sample "so disappointed" I have kids , and I was afraid they won't like it. In addition, we asked if they have cones they said no , when I came back the following day ,After I bought mine I so a client with a cone , I asked the guy about that he said he doesn't know who told me that. read more

Great gelato! Definitely recommend, owner gave free waters for our group. Service was great.

Loved their gelato! they also have an outdoor patio outside where you can sit (did i mentioned that it was also IG worthy?) they also own a pizza place that is right across the street (free parking) I especially loved the cappuccino flavor gelato! it comes wth a waffle cookie with their stamp on it! how cute is that? the cookie tasted a little stale/soft :/ which was the only downfall. other than that, everything was great read more

Awesome place!!! Capacity gelato and a illy espresso so in love with this spot! And the outside area was to die for. Such a nice cool evening sitting outside near the outdoor bar. You can also bring ur pizza over from antico and eat it outside. I will be going back! Why did I mark 4 instead of 5 stars.....well I left my purse there and I called to see if anyone handed it in or if they could check where I left it. I gave the exact location and they said that it wasn't there and that there were people sitting there now. I arrived 20 minutes after leaving and there was a couple sitting there I apologized for the disturbance and explained what happened and they gladly let me look. IT WAS THERE! So they really didn't take the time to look properly for me. Very disappointing, however that's what happens when you have children working for you. read more

I guess you have to consider this place for what it is: an overflow lounge for the pizza place across the street. Once you are full with delicious, dougy pizza, then just wander across the street where you can plop down and relax with a coffee, gelato, or slice of dessert. I got gelato and my wife got the caramel cheesecake. The gelato was pretty good, not terrible, but didn't have me rushing to go back. I think it was a little less dense and flavorful than I wanted. The cheesecake, on the other hand, was strickly "meh" and we didn't even finish it. It was very dense but lacked flavor. Neither cheese nor caramel was coming through. Felt like empty calories. A few other dings against this place: no samples, and it's a little bit expensive. It was very nearly as expensive as our pizza across the street. If it were as good as the pizza, then maybe.... Overall, just a bit of a disappointment. read more

Gelato was ok but the two girl servers working the gelato counter were beyond rude and customer unfriendly. Not a smile or even a hello or thanks to be had. Just a blank stare and a look like how dare you bother me by ordering gelato that I have to move an inch to scoop and serve to you. Guess they were rejected by other places. read more

Not sure why the low review because I can't think of a single complaint. It's really just a chill spot, inspired by the Italian Amalfi Coast. The gelato is great, I love the strawberry, mint, and tiramisu. They lay rocks and turf, plants, string lights and outdoor seatings to resemble the relaxing Mediterranean ambiance. It's also BYOB style. This is definitely one of my go to neighborhoods for many years. There is parking lots and street parking as well. read more

Had the wild cherry and it was wonderful! Real cherries in it. Killer. My only complaint is they don't offer samples. Really? It's not as if the flavors are just chocolate and vanilla- some are unique and deserve a sample before committing. read more

You lost 6 costumers due to the no samples policy. At least make a policy called "mandatory purchase with samples" or something along those lines. How was I going to order an ice cream without knowing what it tastes like. My sister really wanted an ice cream so she got a small cookies and cream.. which was $5 for a really tiny cup. Worst part, it tasted just like any other ice cream place. Very disappointed, mostly since I love Antico pizzas. read more

decent food but employees could care less....told that pizza wasn't served on sunday to find out that there sister shop 25 ft away does serve pizza!!! ordered the pizza, waited forever...employee at front counter had my pizza sitting on the counter for 10 minutes because she mistakenly thought the pizza was for another customer after i asked her at least three times if that pizza was mine. total discombobulated to say the least!!!! no apologies just cold pizza... never again, "crust" has better pizza for sure.... dont waist your time. read more

You know I understand the one sample per person thing, but when you're with 5 people all ordering and the first flavor is pretty bad and you want to try a second, let 'em. Rude ass people working here... I won't be back. Between the prices and the rudeness I won't be back. The gelato isn't even that good. read more

My friends and I came here after a lovely dinner at Gio's. We walked in and there a line and as we waited, I noticed that they only had one door as the entrance and exit. It was a bit annoying as we continually had to move to let people go by. Then, I found that they dont do samples!! I was initially panicking because how I was I going to decide what to get?!?! After some serious back and forth, I decided on the cookie and cream gelato on a cone. They give you a huge scoop for $5. The gelato was absolutely delicious. I generally cannot finish huge scoops of ice cream but I finished every bit of it. The only thing I would have changed is the cone. It tasted a little funny so I will probably just get it in a cup next time... read more

1) Even though it is possible to order 3 scoops of ice cream, there are only two combinations permitted for those three flavors (even though 12+ flavors are offered), and employees refuse to substitute flavors citing "strict house rules". 2) After I gave into the strict house rules and paid for the 3-flavor combination that was not my preference, I was provided the ice cream without the biscotti that is stated to come with the order. The employee stated "we ran out of biscotti". 3) I asked for a partial or full refund based on not receiving what was stated on the menu, and the employee refused, stating "this is why we offer tasting spoons". (First, this comment was irrelevant to the fact that I did not receive my order as expected; missing biscotti has nothing to do with tasting the gelato flavors before ordering. Second, no employee ever offered me a taste of gelato before I ordered, nor was it indicated that was possible.) 4) I left the gelato at the counter without eating any of it, then left the "caffe" and tweeted my friends about my experience. read more

I agree with the guy who rated below. We went and ate a pizza then walked over and came to the cafe for our first time for dessert. The pizza is always delicious and the customer service there is great! The two girls at the cafe are BEYOND RUDE. I asked for napkins and she turned around and slapped a paper towel you would use in the bathroom in my hands. I will NEVER come back. They are BOTH SO rude. We weren't rude to them, so why be like that? read more

Went to Italy this past summer + also went to ATLy a couple weeks ago to Antico + then Caffe Antico for dessert. Wasn't planning on getting gelato + then we walked in. Who was I kidding, we were getting gelato. We asked the server what his favorite flavors were + he said salted caramel + cinnamon vanilla. Oh boy. My 2 friends + I split the beautiful richness of that gelato. And ATLy gelato was as good as the kind I had in Rome in front of the Coliseum. Go. Go with your friends. Your kids. Your husband. Your boyfriend. Your parents. You won't leave sorry. And go on a warm night when you can sit outside on the patio and gaze at the lights looking at the mural on the wall. You don't even feel like you're in the city anymore. A gem. read more

Anticos is a great spot to check in to, especially if you are hanging out with a group. They have picnic style seating, and pretty darn good brick oven pizzas, and calizones. I love this place. The salted caramel is heaven on a spoon. Everything about this place screams yes yes yes ... The workers are extra friendly. You do have eat out side so on a hot your ice cream will melt fast and it could get really messy because one scoop is really like 3 read more

I am super against places, ESPECIALLY establishments that offer ice cream and gelato that do not offer free samples of what they are selling. There is no excuse for this, and this is not how a business should be run. How would you even know if you liked the gelato if you never even tasted it before. This to me, as a consumer does not even make sense. I cannot even fathom the mindset of the store owner. It is sad too, because the gelato that I chose was pretty good. Unfortunately, I will never come back due to the no sampling shenanigans. read more

It was a rich and creamy gelato. You can get one scoop$5 or two scoops$6. Plus you can get cake and different coffees.

This is easiest the best gelato in the city. As someone who has had the real deal (in Italy), Cafe Antico defiantly is the next best thing. I had the cappuccino flavor, which was good. My friend had the salted caramel flavor, which was excellent. Good thing about this place is that it has parking and is the perfect after pizza treat. read more

5-star for the environment and 2-star for the flavor. I don't think it's worth the price. I got a scoop of hazelnut and a scoop of cappuccino. The scoops were huge though, I expected them to be much more delicious or ice-cream like than that. I probably won't visit a second time. read more

Thought I would finish off my Antico's Margarita Pie with some gelato from Cafe Antico. Had only been one time shortly after it opened. Boy, what excitement was brewing inside of me for this treat . Well, that was not to happen. The young lady behind the counter did agree to give me 2 samples...sign only says 1 ‍ with so many options. So Made my first selection then thought...I'm sooo not sure what will go with this, cause I was in "Fat Girl" (I say that with love, not judgement!) mode. So I asked for 2 more and I would make a choice. She says she can't. I offer to pay for samples or give a nice tip (which I ALWAYS DO WHEN YOU ACTUALLY SERVE ME). She says she can't. Ok...so I ask...if I don't like what I select...will you give me my money back? She says, "We don't give refunds." WOW!!! Mind blown Well, that is the reason that I decided to walk out. Gelato is good, but they don't offer free samples!!! What ice cream or gelato place doesn't offer free samples?! Outrageous. We went to eat pizza at Antico and then saw this place for dessert! Me and my husband tried Tiramisu here! We just loved it! It was the best tiramisu we had so far in Atlanta! The Gelato is wonderful! I give this place 3 starts for the quality of the Gelato. Unfortunately the staff took away from a lovely product. I work in the restaurant industry and I know how valuable customer service is for repeat business. The girl at the counter was very unfriendly so I was hesitant to order at all. I was with my family and they really wanted Gelato. I would have left based on the poor customer service if I had been by myself.
