The place seems super friendly and the staff were chatting away to all the regulars that were dotted around the cafe during my visit. I ordered my latte and took a seat at the very cutely decorated tables with music themed bits laid out that give a creative feel to the space. This is a shop that fits in perfectly with the well designed and independent venues that line the streets of Moseley. Every time I visit I remember just how much I like the whole area! Even though I was doing a bit of running around yesterday this place made me feel instantly relaxed! One last thing that needs a mention.....anywhere that plays Diana Ross during a visit is an instant winner in my book!

I can now answer myself a resounding Yes. So... Cafephilia. Located on the corner of Woodbridge Road (Junction of Alcester Road - the main road in Moseley) is easy to spot as you come into the area from the City Centre. With it's high class American Diner exterior, I really didn't know what to expect from my first visit and eagerly awaited a chance to visit. A day in Moseley provided me with a good excuse to pop down and give it a go. I had arranged to meet Yelp Elite Squad member Mohamade in Moseley for Lunch. Unfortunately (or fortunately maybe?) the particular venue we had originally chosen wasn't opening until 4pm, so I suggested Cafephilia as a replacement venue. As soon as I walked in I knew we had made the right choice. With it's sleek industrial design and pop art prints on the wall, this place is the definition of cool. Before my lunch partner had turned up, I decided to grab a drink. After being a bit "coffeed out" in the morning, I thought a nice refreshing peppermint tea would make a great accompaniment to a hot day. I wasn't wrong! I popped up to the counter and was greeted by a big smile and a welcome before my order was taken. Once everything was settled, I popped back down and waited for my tea to be served. The teapot was super cute. Mismatched in just the right way, the slightly kitsch presentation very much reflected the aesthetic that this venue is obviously trying to create. Once Mr M had arrived we ordered a couple of panini's as a light lunch option to go with our drinks. A panini here is NOT a light lunch option. Think of a thick, freshly baked delicious focaccia loaded with stacks of spicy and delicious jerk chicken and you have "The Woodbridge". Coming in at just under £4, it was a total bargain for such a huge and tasty lunch. Between the great service, the delicious food and the vast (and not too pricey) drinks options; Cafephilia is a hit. I might have just found a regular office space when I end up this side of town in future.

We were served by a lovely South African lady who could not have been friendlier. Our cappuccinos arrived within minutes, enthusiastically dusted with chocolate powder. They were luxuriously frothy and delicious with two shots of espresso. We then had Sam Scram which featured some of the best smoked salmon I've ever had, moist and flavourful and, most importantly, abundant! The scrambled eggs weren't as fluffy or creamy as I would have liked; overcooked, coalescing into wet clumps. The bread was delicious but unevenly toasted: one corner almost burnt, the other corner on the same slice not toasted at all. Thankfully there was enough salmon to completely cover both slices. Despite the nitpicks this was a satisfying breakfast in a pleasant setting with staff who seemed happy to be there, even when rushed off their feet at peak brunch o'clock. But these are acceptable priorities and you know his heart is in the right place. I think this place is also a bakery/patisserie in its adjoined unit where it gets all its sweet stuff to also sell in the cafe. I originally went in for the cake as it looked so delish that I got romantic wobbly knees, but got swayed by the savoury. A little pricey for what it is, but in line with Warwick centre prices in general. Great selection of light lunchy bits and they have a soup of the day and a couple of deals to go with it. I went for the sausage and caramelised onion sandwich. Did the job. Caramelised onions always win me over. But it was so dry I had so much inside sadness. Good selection of hot drinks too! Such a smooth cappuccino, and quite a few tea options which I believe are provided by the Golden Monkey Tea company a couple doors down. Love a little sense of community! All in all, a great visit. With a lot of little independent cafes and coffee houses popping up in town, this place stands out. The atmosphere inside is lovely and quiet if you want to come in and get some work done with your laptop. There are booths and chairs as you would expect in a place like this, but there are also very comfortable sofas and armchairs that you can sit and relax on. Definitely a place I plan on coming back to often whenever I need a place to chill out or get some work done while in town.

The outside of this place has never filled me with excitement to go in..... but after getting across the dark and non interesting front of this cafe its actually a really nice space! There are plenty of chairs/tables, good wifi and even charging points for you phone. I had my standard Americano with skimmed milk, then a berry smoothie. Both tasted spot on and were both really big drinks. With the betty smoothie I only ordered the small and it came in a pint glass.....perfect! This is going into my favorite working spots in Brum! Its the ideal place to get your laptop out while drinking an oversized coffee, or just generally a good spot to chill with mates of you are down that end of New Street.

To visit tho' from where I live and work is such a mission I hadn't bothered until today, despite the good reports from a couple of people who's views I'd respect. So there's maybe 4 buses go direct from the city centre to right outside the door and the trip is may 25 minutes or so to Sutton Coldfield. The owner seems a very nice, quietly dedicated chap and he's crafted a chilled place to hang out. When I was there the small room, maybe seating for 14 at a squeeze, was largely full and folks were chatting away. It was a reasonably mixed bunch from yummy mummies (is that a term!) and assorted babies, two laptop types and a few couples. It felt good and that is way harder to achieve than good crema! But it's not that comfortable truth be told, with small, hard stools and chairs, so it's maybe not I place I'd stay in for too long. I liked the simple approach to coffee selection. You can have espresso (black, a bit pricey!) or same with silky smooth, steamed milk. For the milk option you can have 6 oz (to me a flat white) or, I think, 12 oz (so pretty much a Latte). No cappuccino ... but let's be honest, very few staff in Brum can be bothered creating a classic cappuccino: the bigger flat white with half-ar*** latte art impostor has become ubiquitous in most 'third wave' coffee establishment! You can also have a brewed coffee - I think he uses the Kone, which is a very good choice once you know how to use it. He has different beans for brews but I didn't notice what as not my tipple. Beans used for the espresso drinks on my visit where the excellent Workshop Coffee 100% La Ilusion, El Salvador v13 Cult of Done. It's almost a Winter espresso to my mind:a thicker, darker, chocolate, nuts and mildly fruity option than some of their previous efforts and so much more to my own taste. Milk was nice, very smooth; if not quite the best I've had, certainly up to par and at least as good as anywhere in the Birmingham area. Workshop beans ain't cheap even wholesale and really a highly competent barista like this guy could squeeze a great drink from a less expensive, still quality option. He uses a Victoria Arduino which is an interesting change to the La Spaziale and La Marzocco machines more often seen about the city. I'm pretty sure it's a Nuova Simonelli brand these days, but that's a good thing. I had a slice of Beetroot and Chocolate cake ... sounds yuk but is pretty much a Red Velvet if you know that one. Nice and moist, over sweet creamy topping but the base made up for that. Both together £4.50 which was OK. Everything was served with care and unrushed. Customers all seemed happy with the slow pace. Nothing much to eat there tho' so I had to go elsewhere for lunch (bad choice - Cambaz Bar & Chargrill over the road which was snooty and mediocre!) And therein lies the key challenge for Under Pressure! How do you make a viable business, not just flog yourself to stay open, when all you sell is nice coffee and cake? I guess the answers include a limit on customer numbers/covers, work long hours yourself and keep all costs as low as you possibly can. Ideally, you need to attract 'regular people very regularly' not just the once off coffee geeks and offer rather more than cake and coffee. I'm not sure what else he can do, given location, space and number of covers but some lunch time options would work. At the end of the day the balance of running a viable business while keeping standards super high and yourself rested, happy and healthy is a difficult one. I wish him all the luck in the world!

It is light and airy with lots of space to sit and have a really big coffee and an even bigger slice of cake. I've eaten their chocolate cake in the past and it was deliciously chocolatey and covered in little chocolate stars, yummy. Even though I can't eat their super big, yummy cakes anymore it doesn't matter as they have an amazing chocolate counter. Who needs Hotel Chocolate when you can get amazingly different and gorgeous looking treats whilst you sit and relax with friends and a coffee? Not me. The staff were really professionally dressed in their smart uniforms as well as being really friendly. Having been here a few times now what I would say is that half of it has merged into a store. This is where the weird comes in and actually it provides an extra level of conversation as you check out the expensive garden furniture and ornaments as well as random over priced tat. Putting the weird actor aside it is great having somewhere nice to stop along the Chester Road, and it has a good sized car park to boot as well.

The gift shop is a bit less to my taste - with a range of china and glassware alongside the usual cards and other small gift items like soft toys and trinkets. Because of it's location, it's been a really useful place to meet business associates for a drink and an informal meeting place instead of using a pub. Much more suited to the types of people I work with, and with a massive carpark. Great little spot!

The young man behind the till meant well but was a little dopey. I bought a raspberry and white chocolate muffin to takeaway which they order in from a different company. It was really tasty, like a muffin should be, but the same goes with all muffins, once you've eaten the top, the rest is a disappointment.

I decided to have the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The eggs and salmon were excellent but were sadly let down by sliced white bread with no option to change to brown or granary when ordering. My friends sausage and onion sandwich looked excellent....the food envy was very real. Overall good, just sadly not excellent.

I took that opportunity to visit the toilet, which was clean if a little basic and unisex, not that I have a problem with that. That taken care of, I didn't have to wait long for my drink to arrive and my food followed shortly after - it looked delicious! I took a quick snap for Yelp but I couldn't wait to dig in. I wasn't disappointed either - the cheese was nicely melted and the ham tasted like it was good quality. I appreciated the choice of white or brown bread too as I'm a big fan of brown bread. My americano was also tasty - not bitter and nice and strong, just like it should be. I would definitely come back here for coffee. As I'm sitting here working and Yelp!ing, the smell wafting over is divine - this may be the only down side as I'm getting hungry again! I set up my laptop at one of the bigger tables and ordered an almond milk latte to start things off. The coffee was perfect but I made the mistake of looking at the food....there's a selection of bagels and sandwiches which are all made up fresh on site....I resisted at this stage....:.however when the smell of the hot food came out of the kitchen I caved in. The hot food changes daily and is simply a meat or veggie option. I had the beef stir fry with noodles and salad.....this was really reasonably priced at £4.50 and tasted great. If you are looking for a lunch spot or somewhere to work with decent wifi...worth a visit.

Pop-Up is a brand new cafe that's actually not a pop up cafe in the corner of the custard factory…read more It's independently run serving coffee, cakes and a lunch menu. The lunch menu rotates everyday with two items being available. The best way to find our what these are without actually going into the store is checking their social medias. They also have a fairly large sitting area. On this occasion I purchased a cappachino and a red velvet cupcake. The cappachino was good, maybe a little too hot to drink for a few minutes and the milky froth was not as smooth as I a hoped. Bubbly froth for me is always a 'no no' when talking coffee and unfortunately this was a little bubbly. The red velvet cupcake was great, it wasn't too sweet and moist. Both of these cost around five pounds. If you are looking for a new coffee place to try around the digbeth area this is a good 'shout' as I have the feeling it will only get better as time goes on.
