I ordered the Purnell's Scotch Egg as appetizer, Free Range Chicken Schnitzel as main course and as dessert the Vanilla Panna Cotta. It started right away perfectly with the Purnell's Scotch Egg. Crispy on the outside, filled with a full flavoured creamy sausage around the egg. The chicken schnitzel was the dish that surprised me the most. Used to the fact that most restaurants serve a dry and tough to eat piece of deep fried chicken, Purnell's Chicken Schnitzel is totally the opposite. I was happily surprised when i took a good look at the schnitzel and even more surprised when I tasted it. Combined the grilled romain lettuce, bacon and anchovies and the anchovy's mayonaise, this dish made me tell my assistant who tried to contact me that i was going to enjoy something special and would not be available for the next 30 minutes. This dish i truly recommend to try. Just like the Vanilla Panna Cotta with strawberries. Soft and creamy with a delicious taste of fresh vanilla, served with a great amount of sorbet ice and fresh fruit. All I can tell you is that after i tasted it, I ordered an another one to enjoy even more! There's a wide selection of cocktails on the menu to cover most peoples tastes and they tend to try and do their own twist on the classics, which by and large works very well. The food offering is solid, of note are the DIY platters so you can have a twist on the standard meat or cheese board you might expect in this sort of bar (definitely have a duck scotch egg on it though!).

To start with, the building itself that reminds a bank ( and almost 99% sure it as a bank before) is really beautiful. I like all marble floor and walls and the traditional bar is also a complement to the decor. It was crowded but not packed. It was easy to find a table even being a Saturday night. My interesting at the place increased in high levels when I spotted the cocktails in the menu. Caipirinha, the traditional and popular Brazilian drink was there and didn't take me too much time to decide about what to drink. While the barman was preparing my first round, I spotted something called "smoked drinks" and for the very first time in life I tried the smoked Caipirinha. And obviously i have to ask the barman how the magic was done. Apparently, they have a smoking gun (tool or whatever it is called) that gives this smoked taste to the drinks. First slip is a bit strange, but after the glass empty you really feel it adds an extra enjoyable taste to the cachaça, lemon, sugar and ice from the caipirinha itself. The staff was really nice and kind when explained to me ( a Brazilian) how the drink was prepared and the bar got some kudos for it and I really recommend everyone into cocktails to face the smoked drink challenge. The price is also inviting, £6.50 for a caipirinha is still on the budget!

That taken care of, I didn't have to wait long for my drink to arrive and my food followed shortly after - it looked delicious! I took a quick snap for Yelp but I couldn't wait to dig in. I wasn't disappointed either - the cheese was nicely melted and the ham tasted like it was good quality. I appreciated the choice of white or brown bread too as I'm a big fan of brown bread. My americano was also tasty - not bitter and nice and strong, just like it should be. I would definitely come back here for coffee. As I'm sitting here working and Yelp!ing, the smell wafting over is divine - this may be the only down side as I'm getting hungry again! I thought that i had written a review for Molly's before but cant see it so here goes…read more Molly's is a proper old fashioned type cafe serving all manner of cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, lunches etc. It has parking at the rear (although you can usually get parked somewhere on The Green) and has about 8 or 9 tables for 4 people. It gets extremely busy at lunchtimes - to be expected because of its quality reputation. The food is really good, well cooked and a fair price. The staff are incredibly happy and chatty and cant do enough to help. Oh and proper MUGS of tea. Win. They also do free delivery within 3 miles for orders of £8 which im guessing is quite popular with the local offices as im always seeing the Molly's vans round and about. Ive knocked one star off (i wish i could just take off half a star...) because their website is really quite rubbish. I wanted to link to it to show you the menu (as i was too busy scoffing my food and reading the paper to take loads of photos for you) but there are no menus, no photos nothing. It was with quite a bit of excitement I popped in yesterday for a late lunch and to see if it was worthy of the hype. It's got a well designed but very minimalist feel. Think clean, fresh, open and basic. With a few different areas including a small lounge area (which can be reserved for meals), an open kitchen (so you can see your food being prepared), a large bar area with a huge beer board and a well stocked fridge of import ales and a few different areas with wooden tables, your experience will be quite different if you are eating or just grabbing a pint. I popped in just after 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. Despite the slightly later time of day (after the lunch rush), it was still pretty busy; although this could be due to the fact it's opening week. It's a little daunting at first, but I spotted some free space on a bench like communal table and dropped my stuff down before heading to the bar for a proper peruse of the selection of drinks and food. My barman (Martin) was serving a group as I approached the bar. He was talking them through the vast and interesting selection of soft drinks available which included Fritz Cola, interesting fruit juices and some of your more regular options too. As soon as it was my turn to be served, I was talked through the options avaliable to aid me in making the right choice. Martin was helpful, funny and made me feel right at home (despite not feeling quite as dressed up as the other clientele having meetings). I settled into the lounge area in the end and awaited my Pea and Pear soup. It wasn't a long wait and was well worth it. Served in a metal mug (with a spoon), my only criticism was that it didn't come with any bread. However, for £4 for the mug, I felt this was great value. The brownie I was treated too was most definitely excellent to boot. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush so I couldn't stay for too long in the venue. Needless to say, I will be back soon (as I told the barman when he waved me goodbye and wished me a good day). I can't wait to try some more of the menu next time and who knows... it might get the missing star on the next visit?
