Right next door to Urban Coffee. I've not been here much so will need to update my review at some point. The décor is homely( not surprisingly) but fun and quite quirky-brightly coloured and busy! They do a reasonable selection of teas coffees, cakes, pastries and sandwiches. I also notice they do an interesting mix of sharing platters, which I think would be great at lunchtime! Always fairly busy when I go past, but not too hard to get a seat.

Now, the end of 2014 bought a bit of a sense of adventure to my working day as I wanted to check out as many places as possible. After checking out Home in Feb 2014 (when it had just opened), I figured it would be worth a revisit to see if it had settled and found it's place in the coffee places of the Colmore Business District... I am pleased to say it's now another "afternoon office" spot! To give you some insight, I don't have a set office space. As I don't like sitting on my arse at home on the sofa when working, I tend to wander the coffee shops of the City in the afternoon finding a place to lay down my hat and get on with my work. Now, I initially did write this place off (as it's a bit too kitsch for my liking), but I don't know whether my tastes have changed or if it's changed (just a little) to fit most of my needs. I don't ask for much... Reasonably priced tea/coffee, strong WiFi and a few people around me and Home now delivers on all fronts. Tea isn't as cheap as some of venues around here, but it does come in a proper tea pot and normally provides at least 3 full cups - so I can work on a pot for around 1.5 hours. The WiFi has significantly improved since my last review and is strong and predictable (well, enough for my needs). I do wish there were more powerpoints (I normally end up on a table by the door), but at least there ARE places to plug in which are suitable for gigantic Mac chargers. There has been a few changes to the decor since it first opened... I love the picture frame nearest the tills. I spotted on my last visit that this was actually a TV and they sometimes show a film in the background. The cakes have gotten better too! The muffin I enjoyed on my last visit was moist, fresh and very tasty. Unlike some venues, I've never had trouble finding a seat here. The service is warm, welcoming and cheery too. Now, this isn't a regular hangout for me (as I'm all over the City on any given day), but I will tend to gravitate to Home if I'm ever this neck of the woods and in need of a place to grab a warm drink and strong WiFi. Recommended!

As soon I walked into this cafe, I immediately fell in love with it. Literally feels like home super cosy with their interior having a mixture of random artwork, plants, mirrors, signs etc! Good range of cakes, pastries on offer (they do probably the best Carrot Cake in all of Brum! It's a-mazing)!

This place is great to have meetings. I've come here now several times with someone for a business meeting. The spaces between the tables is big enough to be comfortable, it never seems too crowded. The style of the place is colourful and a unique. The staff are friendly and the coffee is alright. The only thing that is a little annoying is that my cloths always smell like food when I leave there. Haven't eaten there yet so can't comment on the quality of food.

It's huge! There's breakfasts, sandwiches, wraps and much more. There is plenty of option for vegetarians too. On this occasion I decided to try the halloumi and mushroom wrap. It was a hot wrap and mushroom has been freshly fried. The ingredients tasted fresh and not over powering. Great balance with a hint of sweet chilli sauce and some sort of mayonnaise too! The pricing here is also great! I paid £3.50 for my wrap and it sure was filling! If your looking for a quick lunch fix this in the jewellery quarter I recommend this place!

I have to say the coffee was average, but how friendly the staff are makes up for that. If you want some friendly chat and a warm welcome to start your day, this place is worth a try.

Selfridges World of Food has a great feel to it, and atmosphere stocking so many things, including a range of Wilkin and Sons jam, albeit expensive is a very nice giftset for nice, premium jam, which the large tins can often be found in a supermarket, but still these jams are used in the best hotels, such as Hilton, which I noticed on my recent visit to their Green Park branch in London, near enough opposite Buckingham Palace. Not only do they stock a good range, but they is a large amount of eateries based here, they is an Ed's Easy Diner, a PRET A Manger, Krispy Kreme, most of these are typical things to find in a Selfridges along with Pattiserie Valerie's stand of sweet treats, which even stocks Hey Little Cupcake, cakes which are from a small, independent Manchester based business, who have one store in Manchester and also a popup at the Selfridges branch in Trafford. This store even has a small Starbucks inside, which seems a nicer, quieter branch for a city center, They stocked good range of teas, including Teapigs, a brand of loose leaf teas and Monin flavouring syrups for coffee, which are used in Costa Coffee and Caffe Nero. Nespresso, another regular at Selfridges also had a stall here and so did Nutella, where you could buy a 400g jar of Nutella at great value for £1.99, already cheaper than the retail price at Tesco, but get your name printed on it as well! There was also a nice range of expensive wines and Cadbury's Chocolate. Even with no intent to buy, being one of 4 in the UK (one of 3 food halls) this is really worth a look in, because it is an amazing place to shop, apart from the high places and it being a really high-end place, it is worth a look in, even if like me, you have no intention to buy anything (although it is hard not to), yet still walk out with a Selfridges bag. I have also commented on the store its-self in a separate review, but the building its-self is a fantastic, modern building which really does stand out on Birmingham High Street, and continues the Selfridges way of only having the best buildings.

Once I was helped, I got the eggs on whole wheat toast. It was okay, just to get something in my belly, but it had no flavor, no sauce. I believe it was £3.95 from what I read or maybe I was so hungry, but she charged me £2.95. I ain't complainin'. Lol. :) She was very nice, but it was not the best experience. It was more of a grab and go to get something to fill me up, but did not have much flavor. Although they are more known for their sweets, they should still have high quality, tasty food for their other food items. It is also a chain, so sometimes with chains, the quality of the food and service goes down. Out of the other options, they are more like fast-food service and do not have healthy options. It was okay, not as great as I thought it would be. That's okay. If you are looking for great places to eat at the mall, check out the sit-down restaurants like Bill's, which has exceptional service and food. There is also Café Rouge and other restaurants that should be good. :)

The store was really understaffed when I came in, it felt like they were ready to shut in the middle of the day with no manned tills or counters, the store was even really dark to get around (perhaps a power outage in part of the store), yet there was no staff members apologising or offering assistance. Other reviews suggest it isn't even a lighting issue and it has been going on for weeks and months, which surely makes no sense: as someone who visits Sainsbury's stores across England and Wales, I've not seen anything like it. I couldn't get any of the items I came in for which strangely were on sale in a smaller Sainsbury's store on Colmore Row, it is a large supermarket but I just wasn't impressed with the selection. The ramped enterance into the store remains dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen as it involves a sharp and narrow corner blocked by a wall, I really don't know how health and safety approved it as it is too narrow to have two lanes and all it takes is to people coming up at the same time (and then unable to go back) and BANG. The store really does need to review their staffing levels, ramped enterance and lighting as a matter of urgency.

You can try sips for around £1. It's a great way to find your new favorite drop without the commitment anxiety. Plus, they have these super cool self-service Loki cards, or you can (as I did) trade your credit card for a temp. Get guidance from the lovely staff if you're overwhelmed by all the choices (I was). The selection is as diverse as it is vibrant, with wines from all over the world, and the best part? They're all served at the exact temperature the makers intended--no warm, sad wine here. Looking for sweet wines, my partner and I enjoyed an airy Gewürztraminer, a super fantastic vintage port from Warre, and a delightful coffee-noted port from Penfolds. I also sampled a yummy, peppery and full-bodied Shiraz. While I didn't try the food, the menu looks like it would be the perfect pairing with any glass you pick. Cheese boards, meat boards, olives, focaccia, you know the stuff. Whether you're an aficionado or a casual enthusiast (like me), Loki Wine is a great spot for a laid-back yet luxurious experience. So when you've picked a glass of wine you like, you can take it upstairs, sit on the seats, order a cheese or meat board (from Anderson and Hill across the way) and have a completely relaxing afternoon.
