As places in Kings Heath go I think this is a good one. I especially like it as a work spot as there are plenty of tables suitable for laptops rather than sofas everywhere which are just not ideal for someone looking to work. Theres always a good vibe in the place generally with a present mix of background music while you drink your coffee, pint or milkshake.Ii went for a strawberry shake which was ice cold and just as it shuld be. The internet is not the best so I had to use my phone as a hot spot but I think if you had the time to sort it with the baristas you could probably get it working. Overall a good visit. So I went back to Loco Lounge for breakfast. First time going I wasn't impressed by the food but the atmosphere and staff were good. Same story this time. I knew was bad idea coming back here for breakfast as I was quite hungry and needed a nice meal. I wanted to try something new. I had a veggie breakfast last time and I did not like it. So being a pancakes fan, I found something to eat. Unfortunately they had non left (whatever that means) The guy said they didn't get delivery or something like that. Really? You mean to tell me there is no flour, eggs and milk in kitchen??????! I ended up getting french toast. I thought everything was made fresh in kitchen. Now the french toast was by far the WORST french toast I've ever seen and eaten. I should've taken picture. The egg barely covered the bread and it was burnt and dry. No syrup or anything. Not sure why I expected Loco Lounge to be a dingy dive bar - it isn't. My housemate is a big fan due to its vegan menu, and she took me there on a Saturday night. Inside, there're tonnes of tables, lots of families eating out and a few people obviously on dates. Lots of vegan, veggie and carnivorous options. I went for a veggie salad with halloumi, falafel, leaves and quinoa. It wasn't bad but needed more seasoning and I was still hungry after so ordered some more satisfying sweet potato fries. My housemate's vegan burger and fries looked really gobble-worthy. Perhaps I should've just gone vegan. After protestations of "nah, not gonna drink" I was hooked on the pina coladas. Pretty good for a high street pub in the West Midlands, as opposed to a curbside bar in sultry Havana. Top marks for tunage - we couldn't help but dance along in our seats. Met a friend for dinner today really happy we popped into loco lounge. It's a family friendly with games to keep children occupied. Chilled out vibe for adults. My food was so good good I had fish cake with poached egg, I can't fault anything about it was just yummy and so filling. The service was amazing all the staff so friendly. As every other time I have been here the tapas here is really good 3 for £9.95 definitely worth going here if you Havant been before. read more

Have been here a few times as I live locally. I have always found it to have quite an interesting menu and the food is pretty good. They do 3 tapas for just under £10 and on Tuesdays this deal also includes a glass of wine which is very good value. Staff here are friendly and chatty. As soon as I walked into Loco Lounge it was clear that it was a popular breakfast / brunch haunt for the locals. The place was packed and the atmosphere was just lovely. Luckily we managed to grab the last table available, which definitely wouldn't have been the case if we were five minutes later, because by this point there was a small crowd of people waiting by the door for a table. This is the kind of place where you have to head up to the bar to place your order so after studying the menu and deciding to go for the pancake stack with syrup and crispy bacon I headed up to the bar to order. I opted for a banana milkshake to go with my pancakes and this was freshly made whilst I waited. The pancakes were fluffy and the syrup was sugar sweet and the right consistency. I would have preferred for my syrup to have come in a little jug on the side, and there to have been more of it as I felt that it made my crispy bacon less crispy as it was poured over the bacon more than the pancakes. Tut tut. The staff were seriously going for it to ensure that food was served quickly and that guests were happy. They checked up on each table to ensure the food was good and kept a smile on their faces even though it was clear that they just wanted to sit down and have a break. If I was staying in the area for longer I'd have liked to have tried their evening menu as there was a great range from tapas to burgers and the bar also served plenty of cocktails, real ale and other alcoholic drinks. I went here to catch up with a friend over dinner and to take part in their Monday night quiz, which is quite popular. We both opted for burgers (Lounge for me, Hero for my friend), which were reasonably priced for what you get and came promptly with a large portion of chips each. The food was warm and looked as good as it tasted (sorry for the lack of photo, it didn't last long enough!), a big thumbs up from my friend and I. Later on we also had puddings each - sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie. Again these didn't last long enough to take a photo, they were absolutely delicious! The quiz was really good, starting at 8pm, with a variety of rounds and questions for all levels. I like the camaraderie when reading out the scores, clapping for each team as well as predicting where your team will finish (5th for us). All in all, a lovely night out, will definitely return, for food and the quiz! read more

This is the by far the most civilized place to eat and drink in Kings Heath, and it is pleasant beyond belief. It is the only place that you can take children in Kings Heath and have a drink where you are almost guaranteed not to hear a single swear word. The decor, atmosphere, and ambiance gently whisper, 'Be civil' and you want to. I usually come here for mid-afternoon catch-ups with a friend over a pot of tea and a couple of games of Scrabble. And food. Their breakfast is the best in Kings Heath not just for it being served in a Zen-like arrangement. Two rashers of crispy bacon, a small pile of buttery mushrooms, a big slice of black pudding, and a beautifully seasoned sausage patty sit on the plate. In the middle of this arrangement is a ramekin of beans, and resting on the ramekin is a slice of lightly toasted bread with an egg atop it. The genius of this is way of serving the food is that if like most people you have a dislike of the beans touching certain other constituents of the breakfast, you can eat the beans straight from their container, therefore avoiding dreaded cross-contamination. The breakfast is always served piping hot and it contains all the sustenance and heartyness that a breakfast eater expects. On afternoons, the clientele largely consist of groups of middle class mums taking Tilly, Imogen and Frangellica out for a few hours. At around 6pm this changes and the room is full of young female teachers, meeting each other in twos, gesticulating wildly and greeting each other enthusiastically. 'Hi Sarah. How are you? I'm lovely thanks Sarah. Wine?' (They are ALL called Sarah.) Tapas Tuesdays are particularly popular and they transform the discombobulated and most uninspiring day of the week into something to look forward to. (Three tapas and a bottle of wine, all for a discounted price.) Loco Lounge has the relaxed feeling of, well, a large lounge and has all the welcoming hallmarks of South-West hospitality. The thing with the Lounges is they're pretty similar so I'll almost certainly be writing something similar to Arco. To whit: the Lounges are a great casual bar/cafe, if you're there at 9pm you can get coffee and cake (if there's any left) or grab a pint. Originally from Bristol, they serve Bath Ales, plus Stowford Press cider, both of which are a good 'un. Food wise you can fill your fancy with substantial brunches, burgers, tapas and dishes of the day. Accompany these with tea, milkshakes, wine, cocktails or beer. With quizzes on Monday nights, board games, a terrace it's a good all rounder for a relaxed drink or bite to eat. read more

I popped in for a cup of tea whilst waiting for a friend. I have been here once before, for a friends birthday lunch and really liked the relaxed atmosphere so decided to go back. It is quite a large car/bar with large wooden tables and chairs - The crowd was really mixed; people were in couples drinking beer, but there were also families there eating and kids colouring and drawing. Great during the day, not sure what the vibe would be like in the evening however. I would recommend the apple muffins -yum:) read more

I absolutely love Loco Lounge. They have great food, good selection of drinks, good prices. The atmosphere is really cozy and casual and fun without being in your face about it. They have great specials and events all the time, and I'm really looking forward to attending them all ;) I don't like that you have to order at the bar, I wish they would let you order from your table, since bartenders come by the tables to check on you & drop off food. Eating out with kids is a bit of a challenge. They are noisy, messy and they want to run around with other kids - and this tends to draw frowns in some establishments. The Loco Lounge is a bit of a haven, then, for the stressed parent and it's a great place to meet with other families for a spot of lunch, or a late breakfast. There are toys and games for the kids, but this is done in a subtle way so that the place doesn't become a Wacky Warehouse. Newspapers are provided to entertain the adults, if they are permitted a moments peace! Aside from parents with kids, this place is growing in popularity with the young and trendy of Kings Heath and is a popular spot for a late, hungover breakfast, which means that at weekends in particular it can be quite busy and you sometimes have to wait a while for food. When the food does arrive, however, it's always fairly decent and the full English breakfast in particular is a favourite. read more

So called, I believe, because of the 'distressed' furniture. I like a bit of distressed furniture, so was pretty easily pleased when it came to the Loco Lounge. If things are too neat and clinical around the edges I start to get twitchy. Fortunately that's not the order of the day in the Loco Lounge - there's a sense of happy jumble: compounded by all the kids crawling over the furniture, which clearly keeps everyone happy. There's a little terrace outside, which is great - not that I've been able to make much use of it this 'Summer'... Other big tick boxes include free wifi, books & board games and the food is pretty good too - albeit not outstanding. Our orders were late because the chef did not receive the order BUT the owner came over and apologised profusely, gave us complimentary fries while we waited for our food, complimentary drinks, desserts and coffee! Brilliant cafe. Great place to take the kids-loads of games and colouring to entertain the older ones and comfy furniture for the younger ones to crawl all over. There are newspapers on offer if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to read them too. What I really like is the fact that there is such a wide variety of people in there at any one time-there are students, families, office workers etc, but you never feel uncomfortable, as so often happens, when you visit similar places with young children. Food is good and well priced too, so you can feed a family of four without having heart failure. read more

Love this spot!! Great furniture and lots of space, free wifi and everything from snacks to coffee and tea with nibbles and you could come here for a meal with a friend or to study with a book and feel equally at home. Upstairs even has a little terrace outside and is usually a bit quieter. There are board games and books to borrow and the staff is very nice. Reminds us of some of our favorite spots at home in the States and definitely a favorite here in Kings Heath now too. read more
