    Grilled shrimp po'boy
    Rachel T.

Stopped here after flying into Bozeman and it was great! I got a shrimp po' boy, friends got fried chicken po' boy and the creole chicken philly with shoestring fries. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our menu decision-making process and service was prompt. It's not exactly a traditional sit-down restaurant but all the food was great and the casual atmosphere of the restaurant doesn't deter from how enjoyable of an experience it was! We dined outside after ordering inside at the counter and filling our drinks at the self-serve soda fountain.

My sister found this spot for us. Unexpected find in Montana. Very delicious. Crawfish etoufee is buttery. Jambalaya is full of flavor. Because the food is so good make sure you reserve a lot of time if you plan to come here before your flight. The food took 30 mins on a Thursday at lunch. The woman taking your order will let you know wait time on the food before accepting payment. Could be longer on a weekend. It's a large restaurant, plenty of parking and seating: indoors, outdoors, at the bar. This place is great value. You get a lot of food and you will leave full. I wish we had one back home!

    Quaint and charming inside

We tried to find local dishes that Montana is known for and a few local folks we talked to only mention huckleberry and chuckled there's no other dishes the state is known for so I opted to try Cajun, taking me back to my roots. The restaurant is close to Montana State University and it quaint and quite charming with an outdoor patio. The cashier was very friendly. The owner is from Abbeviille, Louisiana which is smack in the middle of Cajun Country. The menu seems legit and we ordered the fried banana pudding fir dessert along with the seafood gumbo and catfish platter. Food cane out and it looks good but I was disappointed that the catfish wasn't fried and it was grilled instead. It taste ok and I think would have taste better if it was fried instead. The seafood gumbo was their popular dish but I was underwhelmed by it. Honestly, the gumbo I make back home taste better. For Montana, the food is good enough but this place can not compete with the restaurants back in Louisiana. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable for small town Monta though. I would definitely go here over the other restaurants I saw on Yelp as those serve the same standard American fare.

This place doesn't compare to the real New Orleans style food. Had the gumbo and it lacked flavor and was watery. Had some nice pieces of seafood but really not enough of anything. The etouffe tasted more buttery than having a nice rouge. Had a nice amount of crawfish though. Cute ambiance of a house and friendly staff....maybe they're more known for their sandwiches.

The food was amazing and the portions are huge. Worth every penny. Service was great as well!

Fried pickles--AMAZING! The dipping sauce is delicious as well. Lobster roll--this is very heavy, but over all really tasty! Super fast and great comfort food :)

The portions here are MASSIVE the price reasonable and the service holding that southern hospitality! Couldn't recommend this place more if you want authentic southern gumbo and other delicious foods.

Cajun at least as good as New Orleans. Dare you to order a large Jambalya and enjoy taking half home for awesome leftovers!

This biz is my cup of tea…read more The Spice & Tea Exchange is my favorite chain to visit while traveling. I recently stopped by their location in Bozeman, Montana and picked up enough tea to excite Paul Revere. I spent over 30 minutes exploring their well stocked inventory of tea and spices. The teas are sold in a loose leaf form, which happens to be my favorite. They have sleepy time teas, highly caffeinated options, and even some mushroom based. The other half of the store is filled with different spices and rubs for all your cooking needs. This is also a great spot to pick up accessories for your tea-loving friend. There's bookmarks, tea cups, and even those small animals that change colors when tea is poured on them. I wanted one of everything. I ended up snagging a cute light blue tea cup that has a built in filter, banana sugar, chocolate mushroom tea, and a strawberry white tea. I also grabbed a ranch rub and a garlic aioli seasoning to experiment with at home. Can't wait to sample all my new goodies.

Spice things up! This is a pretty impressive spice and tea…read morestore! They have a whole lot of different spices, spice blends, and of course, tea. It's not all just spice blends where some Montanan thinks, "Eh- this is what Cajun spice tastes like." Instead, it's mainly the raw spice ingredients. I love that they get nerdy with it- they had about 8 different types of paprika, with a little sign that lets you know where it's from, what it tastes like, what you're going to pay. You're free to open the jars and take a sniff. If you're cooking in Bozeman, and need just a pinch of some obscure spice, this is a good place to go so you don't have to buy a whole bottle and waste it. They have such large jars of spices, and such a huge variety, you have to wonder about the turnaround time on these spices, and how long some of these more obscure spices are sitting here. The fact that they're in glass jars is slightly worrisome, but I like seeing what's going on in all those jars. I was disappointed that they seemed to largely skim over the world of Indian spices, which are notoriously hard to figure out. The staff was busy when we went, but it gave us plenty of time to get a good look around.

Wanted to give some local meat a try and cook it on my own during the visit. Daniel's gourmet meats provided amazing fresh cuts of meat from bison to elk to beef to other things. There was fresh meat and jerky. The jerky was probably some of the best I've tasted. Came back at the end of my trip to grab a few more bags to take home. The store seemed well stocked and we'll organized so it wasn't overwhelming to navigate, which can be a problem for smaller stores when everything can be disorganized. Also the staff were really friendly and there were even samples of sausages to try!

Now, we go to Daniel's once a week and pick up ribeyes, porterhouses and ground beef. The prices are basically the same as the big markets, the quality is not even close. Daniel's meats are the best you're going to find anywhere. I still am not a big meat eater, but thanks to Daniel's I eat more beef than before and sure do enjoy the steaks and burgers. Even their chicken is noticeably better than elsewhere, at no more cost. To top it off, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Unless you have a thing for eating meat that isn't top notch, there's no reason to go anywhere else for your meat (I'm talking everywhere from Whole Foods to Safeway to Rosauer's to T&C to Costco and Winco).

**November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more My mom and I were looking for some local Montana gifts and food and saw the huge Co-op building on a drive down Main Street. The parking lot is kind of small, but we were able to find a spot to squeeze into on our visit. When you enter the building you'll see an impressive self-serve section and I noticed quite a few people loading up their plates or to go boxes. There's an island of ingredients to make your own salad and a couple of home made soups, and another area for hot items. My mom and I decided to share a squash soup, a small salad, and an assortment of hot items including South Carolina pulled pork, mac n cheese, biscuits and gravy, and mashed potatoes. I also decided to try a local kombucha which was really refreshing. We grabbed our utensils close to the exit and headed upstairs to enjoy our food. After we devoured everything we perused the main floor and bought a lot of Montana based goodies including teas, Bequet caramels, soaps, and skincare products. Suffice to say I spent quite a bit of money here, but I'm happy to support local and be able to share the Montana spirit with my family and friends! I'd say Community Food Co-op is kind of like a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but with a great emphasis on sustainability and local goods.
