Fantastic quality French bakery! Bravo for the pastry chef! Incredible baguettes and one of best Kouign-amann! A must visit when in Bozeman, MT downtown!

Kuoign aman was buttery , flaky , crispy and delicious . Bought a jamon beure sandwich for lunch to go

Quiche, ham and cheese croissant, morning bun, and oatmilk latte.

You can smell the butter in the air. The scent is heavenly. Their pastries all looked fantastic. We had the quiche, ham and cheese croissant, and morning bun. All were amazing. A week later, we're back home and still thinking about it.

Solid French pastry shop whose butter croissant rivals Paris. I was recommended because they import their butter from France and I'm a huge croissant girl. Ambiance is modern and service is okay- they forgot about our ham and Brie baguette and it was too crunchy/ slightly burnt. I still favor Wild crumb over this pastry shop but if you want more classic french desserts head in here!

Stopped by to grab a quick breakfast and it was definitely crowded. But, for a good reason. The pastries and the quiches were delicious. The coffee was also made with real vanilla beans. I had the quiche Lorraine and the kouign amann. They were both incredibly flaky and buttery.

SUPERB. The kouign amann was perfect- crunchy and subtly sweet on the outside, and outrageously soft and buttery inside. I haven't gotten to try their other fare yet, but I hope to return soon to do so!

Definitely the best Croissant. The owner is classically trained chef from Codon Bleu and trained the croissant baker. A few random customers agreed it was as good if not better than Paris. At least 54 layers with a beautiful rise and perfectly flaky. Coffee was very good too. I didn't try Wild Crumb to compare but I've eaten croissants around the world and Viennes est très bien

Wasn't expecting this in a small western town like Bozeman MT! The pastries were reminiscent of Nice, the coffee is equally as good. Highly recommend!

Well, not much of a sample size to go on. Just a pastry and a cup of coffee. Friendly service and the Kouign Amann was spectacular.

I'm not over exaggerating either, this bakery is one of my favorite places in Bozeman. There is nothing we have ever tried here that we did not like. My personal favorites include any flaky pastry like the butter croissant, Pain au Chocolat (cholate croissant), Pain au Chocolat aux Amandes (chocolate and almond croissant)...yum! I can only describe it as biting into golden, flaky shell with a soft, buttery interior. Don't get me started on the delicious French Butter! Aurore does an amazing job sourcing high quality ingredients you can taste. It makes me so sad that we moved. Yet, so excited to have something to look forward to when we're back in town. We discovered Aurore French Bakery before most people knew how delicious it was. Now, there's almost always a line out the door no matter the time of day--and they deserve it. If you want to experience one of the most perfect bites in Bozeman, show up early!

Alas, the secret is out and Aurore is keeping up with demand, so much so that there's another location now. Things I love: - classic croissant - Croinamon (croissant cinnamon roll) - croissant aux chocolate - any of her pâte à choux / eclairs - cappuccino (Parisian roasted!) ... BUT MY FAV? The ham & cheese croissant which uses ham from Daniel's and has a delicious grainy mustard added. EASILY the best I've ever had, even in Europe. Ambulance is simple, cozy with several tables. The space is a commercial kitchen foremost which is a good thing - everything made fresh! The one downside to prepare for if you plan to stay and nosh is that they don't have a restroom available. Don't forget to pick up a loaf of bread, baguette, sticks of French butter, French flour, and/or extra treats for later. You won't regret any of it!! From their site: "French flour from Les Grands Moulins de Paris and French butter from Isigny Sainte-Mère. Importing butter, jams, juices, and vinegar from France too!"

It's tucked away downtown right next to treeline coffee which is convenient if you want to pair your croissant with a specialty coffee. They offer bread, sandwiches and a huge variety of baked goods and other deserts that all looked amazing. They even offer a vegan desert! I tried the cinnamon bun and at first I was disappointed that it didn't come with frosting, but once I tasted it, all disappointment went out the window. It was unbelievably flakey, soft and flavorful. It was dusted with sugar, bursting with cinnamon and indulgent. It was easily one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had and now I know why Wild Crumb is so popular!

We only ended up getting three items: their celebrated huckleberry scone, a cinnamon roll, and an almond croissant. We really liked the scone, but that's probably more because we're big fans of huckleberries than anything about it being outstanding. The almond croissant was good, as was the roll, but they were both beyond flaky--too flaky--and crumbs and powdered sugar were flying everywhere. In hindsight, we wish we had gotten a savory item to round things out because, overall, nothing was bad but nothing was capital-G Great. The staff are super friendly and helpful, but there was no one bussing or cleaning tables, so everything was pretty unkempt. We think it's 3.5 stars, but we're rounding up because we really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place and can see ourselves coming back on future visits.

La Châtelaine is the kind of place you have to find--tucked away in a quiet Bozeman neighborhood,…read morefar from the bustle of Main Street. The search felt almost romantic, like wandering the side streets of Paris in pursuit of a hidden chocolatier known only to locals. The exterior was humble, even nondescript--I half-wondered if I'd stumbled upon an old hardware store. But the moment I stepped inside, I knew I'd found something extraordinary. A long glass case gleamed with rows of exquisite chocolates--delicate, jewel-like creations that would make any Parisian confiseur proud. These weren't simple chocolate bars or mass-produced sweets; each piece looked like a tiny work of art, inspired by faraway cacao origins and the timeless elegance of old-world France. Choosing just four for my sampler box felt impossible, so I surrendered and asked the server for guidance. She smiled and asked what flavors I loved most, then curated a selection that included two pieces crafted from Mexican cacao--tracing their roots to the Aztecs--and a layered chocolate so refined it could have come straight from Saint-Germain-des-Prés. To complete the indulgence, I ordered a hot chocolate--Mexican style, of course. Rich, velvety, and lightly spiced, it was perfection in a cup. Each bite of chocolate was an awakening--smooth, complex, and impossibly luxurious. By the end, I was speechless. La Châtelaine isn't just a chocolatier; it's a love letter to Paris, written in cacao. They may be hidden in Bozeman for now, but their craft deserves a world stage.

On my visit to Bozeman, I made a special trip just to get a box of these perfectly tempered and interestingly--but not overly weirdly--flavored chocolates. The chocolate has that perfect snap and gloss that marks high-end chocolates and makes their prices make sense. I wish I'd gotten the name, though, of the young woman helping me because she was remarkably friendly and helpful and was a wonderful representative of this company (for the record, I went on Sunday, August 4, around 1pm, in case that helps the owner identify her). She suggested some favorites of other customers and also her own favorites while she packed up my box. Thank you, friendly person!
