I really wanted to like this place. A friend had recommended it so I finally popped in. I took my bowl to go and by the time I got home 5 minutes later, it was cold. I've had take out from other nearby places that are still warm when I get home so I have to think this didn't start out hot. The brown rice was bland, the chicken was fine and the smoky sauce was okay. I just microwaved it and it all tasted better. I enjoy Cafe Yumm for a quick and mostly healthy meal. It's not quite fast food, but it's almost as quick and probably just as fast. This location isn't usually busy. It's easy to use the app to order and then pick up and go. I prefer the Southwest bowls, but they have other themes, or you can build your own. This is an easy place to order from if you have allergies, prefer vegetarianism, or are looking for a heart-healthy meal. Ok, I usually get a cookie, so maybe not THAT heart-healthy. lol read more

There's plenty of parking since this is in a shopping center. They are still enforcing sobmcial distancing, so the capacity is limited. They have a pretty big menu. We ordered the Original Bowl with teriyaki chicken. The medium size was plenty for me, and the large size was enough for leftovers. The Yumm sauce might not be for everyone. It had a bit of a sour taste to me but was still pretty good. The service was great. The cashier was very friendly and offered some good suggestions. read more

So sad to be so very disappointed by this place. They are truly doing a disservice to healthier options by gouging people with their prices (To say nothing of the poor quality food itself). Their portions are outrageously small, you actually won't believe how ridiculously off your most basic expectation they are. The prices are already high for their bowls and that doesn't include any main/protein. I was just truly appalled by how much of a miss this was on every front. My bowl was about $14 with tax, my wife's around $11, and both had the equivalent of MAYBE a single dollar in raw ingredients in it (saying that with some qualification after spending a decade in food service myself). If all that wasn't bad enough, the food itself was just completely low effort and bland (healthy food DOES NOT have to be bland). I do not understand the type of person that would subject themselves to this on a regular basis? You have to have WAY too much money and just outright hate food to suffer through this often, to willingly eat here beyond your first disappointing visit. Without hyperbole, City councils literally need to introduce zoning regulations to ban yumm cafes, by name, from their communities. It makes happy people sad and the cost is exploitative nonsense. Two groups walked in after me. Both were served before me. I had to ask about my order...which got put in the wrong place?! How?? I have ordered delivery from this location several times and I work for a business that has partnered with Cafe Yumm for events in the past. That is why I'm really disappointed that they have messed up 3 delivery orders I have made now. The last one left me with no lunch at lunchtime and no way to get ahold of the restaurant (the main line keep saying they were busy). I refunded my order through the Grubhub app. I will no longer be giving my business to Cafe Yumm because I simply don't have time at work to correct online order mistakes. I hate to be giving this place a one star as I actually enjoy the food here, but this review is specifically for the location on 192nd Ave in Vancouver. I normally do not like to write negative reviews without writing directly to the company, but I now have done that for the same issue before, and now I feel that this is a continuing problem that needs to be shared not only with the company, but with the public. I love eating at Cafe Yumm, but this location has disappointed time and again. My favorite meal from Cafe Yumm is the original Yumm Bowl, and I always add the seasoned tofu on top. The issue with this location is that they clearly do not know how to cook tofu. The last few time I've ordered the tofu I have had it so badly burnt to the point of being inedible. (Photo included) My extreme disappointment with this location comes from the fact that I have made a point of letting the company know that they were serving burned food, but to now see they decided to not fix the issue long term is enough to warrant that they receive a review that publicly states that they clearly do not put customers first! I eat here more than I care to admit. I work close by and whenever the "what's for lunch" question can't be answered by somewhere new cafe yum is my fall back. I used to get their bowls but the "yum & greens" gets you all the same goodness on a bed of mixed greens. I thought rice on salad sounded weird but I was so wrong. I usually order the jazzy bowl with no tomatoes and add seasoned tofu. The tofu is a conversation all on its own. I cannot express the perfection of their tofu mix in some yum sauce & wow. The downside is I usually end up spending about $15 before tip. I still do it regularly but the reality is I could make the same thing at home for quite a bit cheaper. Because they now sell their yum sauce in a liter bottle I actually do make bowls at home & they are also delicious. Now if only I could perfect that tofu. I will continue to frequent Cafe Yum but I love having the option to use their Yum sauce at home (try the roasted garlic). read more

So my only rating at this point is every single time, and this is a weekly occurrence since me and my co-workers order from here every week in a group order, our order is messed up. Every.Single.Time. Usually its a missing item, there is always 2 cookies in the order and we only get one. Or one of the custom items will be messed up. I can understand this happening 1 or 2 times but this is every single week. And it doesn't really matter if we call and complain or have something comp'd from the ticket. I usually like what I get here (Southwest wrap) and the few times I've been I've had an average experience, the people are nice but this was rough. They tend to take longer than they should with the amount of people that typically pass through there (not many whenever I've been). But they really threw this together this time. Usually the contents are in the tortilla and warm and fuller. :/ bad night maybe but at least make sure things are to standard. I'd rather that and wait longer than have it quick and thrown together. I eat here a lot and when I first started coming the bowls were being stuffed full to the brim, but now they are being filled less than half - they've literally reduced their portion sizes to half of what they used to give!! Customer service has also declined and the worst experience I have ever had occurred today: I called in to get a pick up order and was placed on hold immediately. During that time I drove to the location, which was hardly busy, and showed the employee my phone still holding on the line, now for a little over 12 minutes - she was less than apologetic and tried to explain how it didn't look like there was anyone on hold on their phone. Whatever. Then I receive my Yumm Bowl and notice when I get back to work that it has only the thinnest layer of rice at the bottom, literally filling less than 1/4 of the bowl (it used to fill 3/4's of the bowl). The entire bowl was less than half filled! I literally ate it in about six bites and feel as if I haven't even eaten, whereas when I used to come in and purchase a medium sized bowl I would have left overs for the next day! I am extremely displeased and furthermore was not even given a receipt taped to the side of my bag like I am supposed to. Also, something I didn't mention in my previous review - DON'T accept their offer to add chicken to your bowl because it is the nastiest, cheapest, foam-like "chicken" I have ever eaten, as bad but maybe worse than Subway. read more

Cafe Blah Came here for lunch with my mom and honestly. ..i was not impressed. I could tell right away that this was a restaurant geared towards vegetarians/vegans (I'm a red blooded carnivore) as about 90% of their menu items seemed to involve tofu, tempeh, or just lack meat altogether. I settled on the teriyaki chicken since that was one of the only meat options that looked appetizing, and i have to say i was not impressed. Chicken had a rubbery texture and the teriyaki sauce was bland at best. For the price, I expected much better. Also, almost everything on the menu is something you could EASILY make at home for pennies on the dollar. Why would I pay $8+ for a "yumm bowl" when i could take that same amount of money and buy enough ingredients to make 10 of them at home?? Really makes you feel ripped off. I was expecting the yumm sauce to be a defined bold flavor that someone would be able to pinpoint if they had it alone. This was not the case. The whole meal was extremely bland. The beans and rice were both unseasoned and if you got the regular chicken that is also not seasoned. Not even char grilled. Fans of semi-fast food joints that have a taste for a bowl of healthy warm foodz will like this place. Good for a quick date squeezed into a productive day. Healthy without the overwhelming feeling of taste that indicates your food is too healthy for you to enjoy. I'd go back again after 4-5 months regularly but probably not much more than that. In the experience I had, in order to get a drink refill I had to stand at the front counter to the side of the register taking orders. Felt kind of weird because people in the ordering line think you're cutting. Also, it takes awhile to get the attention of an employee for the refills... kind of feels like you're ordering from a noisy bar. Not sure if getting a refill on a small fountain drink is worth the effort. I think they should put the fountain drink dispenser from behind the counter for the people or come up with a better system. So I get Yumm probably five times a week and I always have a great experience. Today I got my usual and I brought it home and it had chicken in it. I am vegan and get my bowl with season tofu so I was pretty surprised to open it and see that it had chicken. I promptly returned it and the employees were so apologetic.They didn't complain or fuss about having to remake my food and even threw in a free cookie. Stopped in for a lunch. It was a Sunday so it was kind of slow, so the wait was short. Wife got the ginger veggie burger and I got the salmon burger. Both were good, but the veggie burger was definitely better. The salmon burger needs some added flavor, its a bit bland on its own. Definitely more geared towards vegetarian/vegan here so I guess that's not a huge shock that the vegetarian dish was better. One thing i would like to see is refillable lemonade, i think that would help add a bit of value. Overall we were pleasantly surprised and will probably be back. read more

This is my 4th visit here. They have fabulous customer service! The employees in front will and do answer any and all questions you might have. I'm fairly new to this establishment they take the time to explain the menu items to me. All my visits have been during my lunch time from work. So this time is very limited. They get their customers in and out with great food! Overall the food is pretty good, and the customer service is awesome, from the time you walk in the time you walk it out. If it was just based on customer service I would have given it 5 stars. I gave it 4 because the food is good but not great. I will be back! read more
