We went here for our wedding anniversary since we were in the area for our son's piano recital. We were looking for a special place to celebrate and based upon reviews, I figured this was a good choice. Overall, the experience was a good one. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, with candles lighting each table. As per my request, we were seated at a table for two in a quiet corner of the dining room. Our waitress was excellent- she was very attentive and met all of our needs. The food was good. The bread was superb- best I've had. Warm rolls with a slight crunch to the crust- just the way I like it. The Caesar salad was good- however, the addition of tomatoes was odd, and the shaved slices of Parmesan were too thick. The entrees were okay. Presentation was very good- the food looked scrumptious on the plate. However, there was an overall lack of seasoning to the meals. The scallops, though cooked well, needed a better flavored sauce to make them shine. And the lamb filet - cooked perfectly- needed additional seasoning. Dessert was a highlight. The golden caramel sundae was great! Vanilla ice cream, blondie, caramel sauce, fresh whipped cream, and rum-soaked raisins. What's not to love about that. And the waitress left a handwritten note wishing us a happy anniversary. Overall we had a nice anniversary dinner experience. Thursday night is Mussel night and you have 4-5 different sauce options. Phenomenal! We go for Burger Night every Wednesday. Our waitress Jessica is friendly, attentive and very professional. We get table 44 in the front of the house, it has a nice view and is just the right size for two. The Burger..........is just AMAZING! I get it medium rare with cheddar and bacon and extra onion jam. This thing is huge and so friggin juicy it's unbelievable. And the onion jam is like nothing I've had on a burger before. You also get a very hearty portion of French fries and one of the best dill pickle spears I've ever had. If you're not a burger person, the short ribs are equally impressive! Wow. What a disappointment! I had expected much better everything based on the rating so far but it was NOT a pleasant experience. Let's break it down: Service- we did get seated right away but it wasn't super packed and there wasn't a line. I had a reservation so it was the expectation. The server got us drinks, nothing out of the ordinary. She was able to answer my simple question about one of the items, still good so far. No sooner than 5 minutes after we ordered did the food come. It was weirdly fast. Like, the food was already prepared and was sitting on the heater waiting for someone kind of fast. I am speculating here but it was suspicious that we probably got someone's wrong order and they needed to give it away. Food from a sit down restaurant should never come that fast. It tells me they didn't prepare it fresh after ordering. Meanwhile, the waitress only checked up on us once, didn't even bother to ask if we wanted more drinks but get this the worst part of the service was that we were LITERALLY in the middle of our dinner and she asked us if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Like, our plates weren't even empty, we were clearly still putting food in our mouths, still chatting with one another, they haven't cleared anything yet and we were being rushed forward for no reason at all. I mean, they weren't seating much people since half the dining room had left by that point, and they certainly weren't closing. Closing time was still an hour away. I did notice that other people really got to take their time with their meals and were allowed to have nice conversation without being rushed. tsk tsk. Terrible way to treat paying guests. Food: In a single word, bland. But in more detail, cheap ingredients with a high price. Look, this place is in small town so you'd expect prices to be lower. Not the case, they charge big city prices for their set up. I compare the food to what you'd expect if a friend who, occasionally cooks invites you over for dinner and you get an under seasoned cut of protein with vegetables that have been thrown together. Like, the friend clearly tried but just didn't cut it. It's not so bad that you want to vomit but it is just enough so that you grin and bear it so that you can be polite and not make a fuss. Except now, the friend is charging you 30-40 dollars an entree. And you just have this complete disappointment in your taste buds that makes you wish you chose a better option but you are stuck. The bass was this thin, measly fillet with this weird yellowish sauce. The vegetables were sauteed fairly well but minimal in provisions. The steak was NOT 12oz as advertised. Sure, it is a long piece but it is thin and it was overcooked. The cut of beef was grisly and gross. The peppercorn sauce was lacking. The one thing they did do well: the fries. That was fine. Just not worth it. Ambiance: very homey kind of feel to it. But the space is small and everyone is packed together. It is difficult to maneuver between tables due to how close everyone is. Oh, and forget about privacy, you can totally hear what other people are saying even if you are trying so hard not to. They do take the mood lighting effect serious, but probably to distract you from the food. Business practices: I noticed below the menu that they charge $5 for splitting a plate and $3 if you want substitution. They also do a 20% gratuity for 6 people or more. The latter is fine but the first two, absolutely disgusting practices. So, let me get this straight, if you pay for the over priced entree, you aren't allow to share it without paying an completely unfair and unnecessary fee? And lets say there is something on the menu that you can't have but could be easily taken out, you'd have to pay $3 just for that? It reflects on the owners to nickel and dime their patrons like that. I was so disappointed to have driven all that way just to experience what I did that night. I guess their regulars don't have many options or else they choose somewhere with better flavors and better service. My companion and I were outraged by how we were treated and couldn't wait to get out of there. Good luck to this business but I could not in good conscience recommend, except to perhaps, my worst enemy. read more

We aren't from the area and just headed out looking for a restaurant, decided to play it by ear. SO GLAD we chose Cafe Triskele for dinner (what else does one do but eat at a European inspired bistro before an NPR show? Ha!!). Escargot was Ex-cell-ent!! Really, best we'd every had. Tender and tasty, with a mini-baguette to dip into the succulent garlic parsley-butter sauce. Entrée was the Cafe Burger (since we had the show we didn't want to take a chance on pep time) - tres magnifique - OMG. Juicy, flavorful black angus with rich cheezy cheddar. We saw other dishes go by, and each one inspired food envy. Service was genuinely friendly. If we go back to Berkshires, we are absolutely putting this on our dining checklist. read more

I had never been to Triskele but had heard good things about the food. I encouraged two friends to go. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. We had a 6pm reservation but, by that time, they were running out of some of their dishes. Two of us selected the last two NY strip steaks. Mine was good, not great. The other person who ordered clearly got a different cut than mine and it was filled with grizzle. It was also not cooked as she requested. My friends and I, who live in the Berkshires year-round, go out to eat regularly and love fine dining. I can't imagine we will go back to Triskele. read more

Lovely dinner - THANK U YELPERS and Thank you Chez-Nous! Olives were delicious with fresh warm bread. White wine was fantastic - I thought I was back in Italy with my 65 yr old Italian padronna! Server Kelly made my choice easy. I couldn't decide between the lamb or salmon so she suggested half of each - brilliant! Lamb was cooked PERFECTLY! Absolutely scrumptious! The twice baked goat cheese soufle is to die for! I've never had something so LIGHT and tasty - wow. Rachel (owner?) So knowledgeable and kind! By far the best meal So far of our week long vacation. For my gf the restaurant was great for gluten and dairy free offerings. We started with the cold tomato basil soup which we enjoyed. The little rolls were warm and lovely, served w butter and a little crock of olives...I love olives! We recently ate at Cafe Triskele. We have been eating at this establishment for 28 years. Have seen many name changes and menu changes. The new menu is a much more classic French. Prices are more reasonable. The negative was 1.50 extra for bread. Disappointing considering my wife ordered the mussels. While they were good the bread would of been nice for sauce. I had duck confit which was very good, served over cassoulet salad. This was a bean salad which was cold. Would of liked it warm. Overall nice meal, staff was well trained and very attentive. Limited menu but what they do, they do very well. We ate at the bar and were served by co-owner, Rebecca, who was fantastic. We shared the salmon tartine, then the cassoulet followed by two homemade desserts, sachet torte and crème brûlée. All aspects of our meal were delicious - we were glad we split it because it was very hearty. We had two nice cocktails with our appetizer and then moved to a glass of Bordeaux w the cassoulet. We were given two after dinner drinks that paired nicely w our desserts since it was our anniversary celebration. We had a great dinner tonight at Cafe Triskele. We had not been here since the pandemic and when it was Chez Nous. We were not disappointed. We started off with Croquille Saint Jacque, a creamy, cheesy scallops dish. Also their version of The Ploughman's with hearty pate and cheese. And topped it off with a local cheese plate. We didn't think we would have room for the main course! My wife ordered the Duck Cassoulet: duck confit with sausages and white beans. I had the Duck Confit with creamed sweet potatoes. Unfortunately, service from our waitress was slow, bordering on indifferent (people at the table next to ours, who sat down 20 minutes after we did, got their main dishes before us). It just took what I felt was an unnecessarily long time to bring us our drinks, appetizers, and main dishes. Also, the table wasn't fully cleared until we specifically asked (sauce for trout and bread stayed in the table well into dessert). Food was generally good, EXCEPT for my dish (mussels in a tarragon cream sauce), which was completely flavorless - it tasted like slightly bitter cream (no "subtle" flavors, just no flavor at all) Honestly, I must have sprinkled a third of the salt shaker into it, and that barely made a difference. I could have sent it back, but didn't want to order something else that would have taken another half hour to come out. Cafe Triskele is supposed to be one of the better places in Lee (and the Berkshires), so I expected better. Overall, a disappointing experience. read more

I cannot believe I haven't written this yet. I went to stay at an inn not far from his restaurant for our first year anniversary. The inn keeper raved to us about Chez Nous. No disrespect, but being from NYC with all the glamour and hugeness of places when we pulled up for our anniversary dinner to Chez Nous, the place looks unimpressive. We walked in gingerly and were immediately blown away by the indoors, a cozy yet beautiful place. It definitely looked like it was a residential property in its past, but the decor engulfed us in its beauty. We got a table and were still apprehensive about the food (we have had some very bad experiences). We were seated and waited on by a very pleasant staff. They helped us pick a wine and the food. Once the wine was brought to us we waited patiently for the food. What was put before us can be described as nothing less than heaven. It was all so scrumptious and it melted, and we melted right along with it. The meat cooked to perfection, the sauces delectable, the symphony of the two dancing on our palettes, realizing taste buds I didn't think we had. It was now the moment of the final truth. As our stomachs burgeoned with what could be the best food I have had, we had to top our night, and end our first anniversary with some desert. I looked around and saw a lot of people order the same desert, we asked for one of those and one recommendation. My husband and I are not people who like a lot of sweet, he loves his dark chocolate and I don't have any hankering for sweets. This was probably my favorite part, the desert haunts me till today almost two years later. We were bewitched, the chef could have had us jumping hoops with the tricks and enchantments they placed on our tongues with that. I had seen people revel in chocolate only in movies like Chocolat, I had never really understood what ecstasy from food meant till I tried this desert. Their menu seems to have changed, but if the chef hasn't, this has to be a stop! There can be no questions or hesitations, throw away the fast food and have one of the most enlightening meals of your life! We were regulars at Chez Nous and and were very happy with the food and service there. Tonight we decided to try Cafe Treskele, its replacement. We will not be returning. The food was quite good, though they were out of a main entree on a Saturday night. Our requirement for gluten free options was met with indifference by the server. What was most annoying was the $5 extra charge for splitting a salad, which brought the cost for a salad to $17. When we said something to the server, she responded that it was the fee for splitting a salad, then ran off. When we asked to speak with the owner, we were told she was "quite busy" behind the bar. The bill for a dinner for 2 was over $100. I expect better. read more

Had a wonderful night at Triskele where we felt everything hit the right note. The ambience was charming, intimate without being stuffy. We had a little of everything from appetizers to salads, main course, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as dessert. The beef pasta was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The waitstaff and owners were attentive and clearly passionate about their food and experience. You saw the chef and owners interacting with customers, serving drinks, really engaging with their clients as family. I have passed Chez Nous traveling thru Lee and on my way to almost every other spot in that town for over 12 years and never once considered dining there. Why ? I wrongly assumed that it was French and stuffy and that Lee would need to wear a jacket. Silly me !!! We arrived on a drizzly evening to celebrate Lee's last birthday in his 5th decade. We were instantly amazed at the very casual and laid back atmosphere. I believe that the hostess was part of the family that runs Chez Nous, was comfortably dressed in Bermuda type shorts and teva type sandals... all a good and comforting sign to us as we were also casually dressed. As we settled in to our enclosed veranda table, we became more became increasingly aware that we had stumbled upon a little gem. The warm crusty rolls, reasonably priced local Berkshire Distillary Ethereal Gin martini and friendly waitress celebrating her 3rd day at work all added to a splendid evening. Most of all, we appreciated the ability to order a half portion of any entree, allowing us to sample both the rack of lamb and the delicious scallops following both the Pate and cheese boards. Too full for dessert, we agreed that next time we might forgo the appetizers and concentrate on the delicious mains and perhaps a dessert. It was a great meal, reasonably priced and very memorable. We will certainly return and i'm truly sorry that it took this long to discover. read more

I am not generally fond of restaurants that charge an extra few dollars for bread, although I know many do. But to charge $4.00 (listed on the website menu as $2.00) for what we were told was "fresh-baked baguette," and then to be served several pieces of toast because the kitchen was "too busy" and then STILL be charged $4.00, is a bit of an insult. Our dinners, by the way, came out quickly (almost too quickly), and the room we were in was only half full, so hard to fathom the "too busy" excuse. Read all the reviews which are fabulous so decided to take my mom for mother's dinner while on vaca in the berkshires. I made reservations and we were seated right away. The decor is rustic with an artistic flare very pretty. Ordered the Rita for a drink which was not what I expected and was not drinkable. It was a martini with cheap tequila in a margarita glass. We ordered the parsnip hazelnut soup, salad and shrimp ceviche for apps. Soup and salad were excellent. Ceviche has excellent taste but the shrimp tasted either frozen or very over cooked. Next we ordered the roasted lobster and Mediterranean chicken. The lobster was only the claws and cold- waitress offered to bring it back but we didn't want it over cooked. The chicken had vegetables and broth but nothing Mediterranean about it , it was more like a chicken stew. I ate it but it was sub par at best. The service was good, waitress was prompt and accurate and somewhat friendly. To make up for the cold lobster they gave us two free deserts. Now the deserts are the BEST and worth going back. Got the blondie which words can't express how fabulous. Got the desert sampler and the cheesecake with ruhbarb both the best I've ever had. The pastry chef should have her own television show or something she is that good! So maybe the chef was having an off day or I'm spoiled from RI restaurants that I've found to be the best in the country. Either way chez nous is worth a visit if only for the deserts So the owner very rudely replied to my google review and said he would also reply here . I stand by my review the lobster was claws only n the food was sub par ...sometimes the truth hurts. It seems as tho someone needs a good dose of humility as this was by no means what I would think of as gourmet French. But with that said I still complimented the business and would have gone back but now there is absolutely no reason to go back which is a shame becAuse the deserts were fab. I liked the menu much better when it was Chez Nous! There is no excuse for serving a small portion of stale bread and charging for it. Everything was small portions and by small I mean tiny. The outside experience left a lot to be desired. We were downwind from the kitchen exhaust that smelled like a gas leak and we had to change our table. Everything was preseasoned with salt and pepper in the morning so there were limited options for me as I am allergic to black pepper. They did a reasonably good job of accommodating my allergies but the portion was tiny! Exactly four French fries on my plate with a 4 oz. piece of fish that shrank to 2 oz. after being cooked. The waitress tried but the restaurant seemed somewhat disorganized. I think I'd prefer to stay home and cook for friends and family. I left hungry. read more
