Great Pad Thai, but the dine-in experience needs work We recently moved our office to a new location near Northwestern Highway, so I've been on a mission to find new go-to lunch spots. Café Thai came up when I searched "Thai food near me" and as someone who loves all kinds of food--especially a good chicken Pad Thai, medium spice--I had to give it a shot. First off, the food itself was excellent. The Pad Thai was packed with flavor, had just the right amount of heat, and came with a generous amount of chicken. Portion size was great too--definitely worth the price. Now for the not-so-great part: the ordering process feels more like a fast-food spot. You order at the counter, pay immediately, and the card reader asks for a tip before you've even tasted the food or received any service. That's always a little awkward. I also told them I was dining in, but my food came in a to-go container with a flimsy plastic fork and knife. Eating noodles with utensils that bend under pressure is not ideal. Also, I like to treat myself to a Coke now and then, but whatever was coming out of their soda machine definitely wasn't Coke. Hopefully they can fix that. All that said, the food was solid enough that I'll definitely be back--just next time I'll order ahead and take it to-go so I can eat it with proper silverware back at the office. We've been exploring our surroundings near our hometel since we moved in after selling our house. Today we were in the mood for Thai so as we concluded our errands I called in our order to be picked up on our way back to our hotel. As is my custom, I always try Gang Gai (Red Curry) medium first at a new place to get a normalized taste comparison to other Thai places we have eaten at before. My wife has developed a taste for Drunken Noodles and she ordered that with Tofu, mild spice. The order was ready when we picked it up 15 minutes later, as promised, Gang Gai was just what I expected with rich flavors and spice level how I like it and was a good portion size with a good number of Shrimp and crunchy Green Peppers. My wife said the Drunken Noodles flavor was stronger than expected and a bit saltier than she likes; she said she would order something else next time. This is my first time trying Cafe Thai. The shrimp fried rice was probably the best I have had. I hate the lightly seasoned rice you have to fix when you get home so this was a pleasant surprise to get such a flavorful main. First main was Shrimp Drunken Noodle with shrimp and k crab. The container was packed to the gills and overall very flavorful but could use a little more sauce. The second main was sweet and sour chicken ordered with extra sauce. The dish itself was very saucy and had a small container of extra sauce. Extra sauce was expensive ($4.50). Overall great food. Just a reminder this is take out only. I finally had a chance to try this restaurant. When I went last year, they were closed for remodeling. The drunken noodles are great and had just the right amount of medium spice which I requested. I stopped in for a quick takeout, and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I will return again when I have a craving for noodles. read more

She handed me my order, brought me water, took my order and double and triple checked my order, spice level and made sure I was okay with everything in my order too. Especially eggs and peanuts for any allergy or vegan orders. It's a small place. There are 18 seats and 3 by the counter to wait for carry outs. The soup of the day is chicken rice soup. Must just be rice soup in a chicken broth, only found a few tiny trace amounts of chicken. Not my thing, it's super bland and tasteless to me. The pad Thai looks good, tofu is cut thin. Tastes good and it has some major kick to it, too spicy for me but will be suitable for my husband. The massaman curry is also good, liking the peanut crunch in the dish, the peas take a bit of getting used, still a good dish. The pad pak isn't bad, tasty as well. The sauce is spicy and lovely. The tofu tastes strange somehow with the pad pak sauce, fishy even. The steamed tofu is better with the pad Thai and the massaman curry. Found 3 baby corns in my pad pak. Guess it didn't matter that she checked my order 3 times and that I asked her one more time to make sure my pad pak was made without corn in it. I think the pad Thai is the best of the 3 dishes. The service here is quick, food comes out in lightening speed here. The waitress, cashier and busser seems like a no nonsense person, quick and to the point. I do wish I had known the massaman and the pad pak came in the bowl with the dish, not fond of leftovers with soggy rice and I don't even eat the rice anyways. read more

I was debating 5 stars but our app, the crab cheese, and my Thai iced tea wasn't really good. The crab cheese had extremely little to absolutely no imitation crab in it at all and the wrapper was so thick. They were barely crunchy and super oily. Not at all my favorite crab cheese/crab Rangoon I've ever had. The Thai iced tea was so sweet that I couldn't drink it after a sip. The mains we got were: drunken noodles with chicken, pad seew with shrimp, and shrimp fried rice. The entrees were delicious! My personal favorite was actually the shrimp fried rice with mixed veggies. The flavor and portion was outstanding! My pad seew was good and really saucy which is how I like it but a little too sweet. That was the same problem I had with the Thai iced tea, superrrrrrr sweet! Food here is actually really good I would come back without hesitation but I'd stay away from the apps and Thai tea. I was recently hired by Doordash to photograph some of Cafe Thai menu items. The owner Nora, was well prepared and had all the delicious looking meals on display. As you can see, the food is very authentic and the portions are large. Best of all, I had the Drunken noodles, apps, and the spicy beef kaffir lime leaves. DELICIOUS!! She has been open for 20 years and boasts a wonderful following of regulars. The prices are very affordable for the quality taste you receive. This has been one of my local favorites for awhile now. The gang gai curry is my personal favorite dish. I love spicy food, and when I ask for extra hot they always bring the heat! My wife always gets the pad thai with no spice, and it's very flavorful and delicious. The staff has always been friendly and polite. I will say that I disagree with previous reviews that the chicken was dry - I actually found the chicken to be more tender than I've had at comparable restaurants. Tonight I called, 7:15 pm and the person answering the phone refused to make me whole. She repeatedly stated that I should have called this morning she has no proof of my purchase. It's sauce but it totally changes the meal for me. I asked about customer satisfaction and losing a customer over a $2-3 item. Never will I ever go back. It's all about principal. Very tasty Thai spot! I was pleasantly surprised after having discovered this place from yelp reviews. I drive past it daily for work and have never gone inside. It's better for take out due to how small the dining room is but there is some seating if you'd rather dine in. Friendly and fast service. I loved the pad Thai with tofu and cashew dish. Deceiving !!! I Ordered Kra Paw Chicken, it's my favorite Thai dish and what I get is a meal full of vegetables, very little chicken, and far from what i was expecting it to be/look like. I know every restaurant cook it differently but I did not order a vegetable, I ordered chicken meal. I ordered tomyum soup shrimp as well but I hardly taste the shrimp as they chopped it. It seems to me that they are very tight with meat that's why they put veges more. I paid a total of 17$ for both meals for what it's worth I should have gotten more meat.
