N1. Pad Thai with Chicken and Shrimp
    Tamica J.

I've been coming here for a few years. However due to their new counter employee, I probably will not be back. Last week when I went, I asked for siracha sauce, he gave me chili paste and I didn't know until I got home. This week I ordered the same thing: Pad Thai with no peanuts, extra beansprouts, with chili Ken and shrimp. I asked very politely if I could please have a small condiment cup for my siracha, explaining I didn't get it last week. He said no he had to do it. He then fills the cup, and takes it in the back behind their black curtain. Why? The tops are right up front in view. He then slides it (almost tosses it) to me across the counter. I wasn't getting a good feeling from him with his nasty acting attitude and all. I advised him that I wasn't trying to be funny, but could he please hand me a condiment cup and I would get it myself. He scoffed and mumbled under his breath. Anywho...I won't be going back. We have a voice and choices. Not sure what happened to the young lady they had, but she was the BEST! So, if you come here, brace yourself for MR PERSONALITY.

Extra sauce we paid $3.00 for.

The Food is mediocre. The portions are small. They charge for absolutely everything. The cook is rude and condescending and racist. We will not be back. We ask for extra sauce and was charged $3.00 for it- see the picture below for the amount of sauce that they gave us. One spring roll a thin skinny spring roll is $2.25 it was tasteless. The crab ragoons had little and some no filling in them. It was fried dough. Avoid this place.

Order pad thai food was expensive 40 dollars for two crab Rangoon is hard and dry. Pad thai missing nuts and lemon. I called and the smart mouth carry out guy would not write my name down for a replacement. It's raining I got all the way home and I didn't want to drive back. I paid for food that's not properly cooked and it can't be remade!

3 stars is appropriate for Thai Xpress. There's nothing spectacular or outstanding about the interior or the food. If you're looking for a quick lunch spot while you're at work, this is the place. There's usually something small that throws me off: -If you order any of their dishes with spice, for example with medium, they will always ask you "just so you know, our medium is kind of hot. Is that ok?". To which I wonder, every time, why is your medium, hot, and not medium? -Lunch portion sizes are bit smaller than most places I've been to -Occasionally, not enough sauce in my curry dishes

I love this place. I discovered this place years ago. My go-to dish here is the Chicken Pad Thai. It's always delicious. Also, decent sized portions and it's reasonably priced. A great place to come for lunch service is pretty quick.

Chicken Pad Thai was surprisingly good! The atmosphere is meh but the young lady working the register was pleasant and the food was good.

Super quick and reliable service. The spice level was perfect! I would recommend if in the Southfield area.

Service was fast. Food is decent but overpriced. There's better out there for sure. But for location and time available it's decent

I love this place, the staff is always so friendly and have often popped out with my take out to my car. I've come too early before and they've offered to let me sit in my car and they'd bring it out to me when I'm ready. That's service! The food is always fresh and flavorful. We love the pad Thai with tofu for the kids and we go back and forth with curries and noodle dishes ourselves. Spice level here is standard and you can get it on the side if you're so inclined which is nice to amp it up on your own terms. Crab rangoons are still the best here with the green onion really perking up the cream cheese inside. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The community know about this place now so wait times are a little closer to 25-30 min during peak dinner times so plan accordingly for take out. They do have a small indoor seating area with a couple tables and bar seating but this is mostly a take out restaurant. Enjoy!

Ordered appetizer sampler, and tom yum soup, pad Thai, chicken and steamed tofu and veggies, extra hot, Thai basil with chicken and added mushrooms, medium spicy. $58.10 The chicken dumpling and the crab wonton are all cold, what in the world! The second try of the chicken dumplings were warmer and not bad. The crab cheese wonton is so-so, the cheese is not cream cheesy as expected, not sure if there is something else in there. Hardly any crab at all. The plum sauce is like a syrup, runny and super sticky and oh so messy. The Thai sauce and the basil sauce are both quite sweet too. The pad basil is good, good heat, lots of green peppers and carrots. The chicken is overcooked, it's a good thing it's swimming in sauce then. The tom yum soup was good, quite spicy for medium spice. Service is very good here, super warm, friendly and really want to give you a good experience.

I liked the question "what Spicy level do you want ... (mild/medium/spicy)" for each dish. Decent sized portions and tasty food. The many and varied Pad Thai plates beckoned and we tried the omlette Pad Thai which was delicious and piping hot. Chicken Tom Yum soup and shrimp fried rice also were pleasurable. The atmosphere is really casual - the layout is more of a cafe than a formal dining room. I would definitely return and with friends.

To start, we got moo krob (deep fried pork belly) which is the Thai version of Chinese siu yook. I have to say, I like siu yook so much more - it's a lot more flavorful having been marinated with five spice and served with delicious sweet hoisin sauce for dipping. The pork here was bland and the sauce (fish sauce based) was pretty one note. For my entree, I got rad na (rice noodles with gravy, Chinese broccoli, carrots, and choice of meat - I got pork) which was one of the best I've ever had! They used fresh rice noodles and sautéed it properly to give it the "wok hei" (wok-seared flavor). The gravy was deep and flavorful and the portion size was very good. If everything else was as good as my entree, I'd give this restaurant 5 stars. Unfortunately, my mom's Kao mun gai (steamed chicken with rice and "special sauce") was awful. She asked if the dish had any spice because she can't do spicy, and the server said no, so she decided she'd try it. The chicken was way overcooked and dry, with no flavor at all. The sauce, the only thing providing flavor and moisture, was spicy so that she couldn't eat it. We asked if there was any sauce she could get instead that wasn't spicy, and they said no, but they can give us a bottle of soy sauce. So my mom used some of that, and also took some of my rad na gravy. But because the chicken was so dry and bland, it was beyond saving. My dad got the Thai basil fried rice, mild spice. It was definitely hotter than other Thai restaurants' mild, and my dad said the spice overwhelmed the other flavors. I tried some of it and it was not bad, but nothing remarkable. They told us that traditionally, it's served with the rice on the side, which was strange to me because then it's not fried rice - it's sautéed meat and veggies with rice on the side. I am curious about how some of the other dishes taste here, but it's a shame that 3/4 of the things we ordered were mediocre to downright bad. While I enjoyed my entree, I felt bad my parents didn't enjoy their food.

The restaurant is charming. I loved the floral décor and cute brass lighting. The menu is varied, offering both the familiar crab rangoon and spring rolls and the less familiar mango avocado salad, coconut noodles, or prew warn. I went with the mango avocado salad and pineapple curry while my friend went with the fried rice and tofu stir-fry. Of course, I also had the Thai iced tea. I don't think I saw any avocados in the salad, at least not the conventional avocado slices, but there was a good amount of crunchy, whole cashews, which I loved. The pineapple curry was fantastic. The flavorful curry had a substantial amount of seafood, shrimp, squid, and scallops. I'm glad I ordered it mild because it was already quite spicy. Incidentally, the rice comes out in fanciful shapes: stars and hearts, which makes me smile. The service was lovely. The server was friendly and professional.
