Unfortunately, we did not get seated. But the food smelled so good. Menu looked yummy. Definitely want to try again. Hostess told us 15-20 mins wait. We said yes. Asked for menu. As we spent 15 mins looking at menu, hostess asked us "so do you want to be on the list?" We said yes a 2nd time. Waited 40 mins & canceled.

From the moment we walked in, I knew this place was going to be special. Watching the chef handcraft fresh pasta right in the front window set the tone before we even sat down. We arrived just before they closed between lunch and dinner, made a reservation for later, and I'm so glad we came back. If the weather is nice, do yourself a favor and request the backyard patio--it's the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal. The handmade pasta absolutely lives up to the hype, but what really surprised me was the service. I wish I could remember our server's name (which is so unlike me--I'm still embarrassed!). She was knowledgeable, attentive, genuinely friendly, and provided the kind of service you'd expect at a fine dining restaurant. We ended up giving her our unused observatory tickets, so hopefully management knows exactly who I'm talking about. If so, she deserves some recognition--she's an outstanding employee. Now, the food... My son ordered the Chicken Alfredo and declared it the best Chicken Alfredo he's ever had. My other son chose the Steak Alfredo and hasn't stopped talking about it since. They both keep asking when we're going back, which tells you everything you need to know. The Italian sodas were also a huge hit with the kids, so don't skip those! I ordered the Calabrian Chile & Burrata Pasta with Peas. Our server warned me that it was spicy. Like most people who love spicy food, I smiled and thought, "I'll be fine." Reader...she was right. It definitely has some heat! Thankfully, the creamy burrata perfectly balances the spice, and I absolutely loved the addition of the peas. It was bold, flavorful, and one of those dishes I'll be thinking about for a long time. Trust your server on the spice level--they know what they're talking about. This is one of those restaurants you'll remember long after your vacation is over. Incredible handmade pasta, outstanding service, a beautiful patio, and an experience that feels genuinely authentic. We can't wait to return.

Amazing!!! We went on a weekend evening on a holiday so they were jam packed. Had to wait over an hour for our table and then another bit to even order drinks when seated. This might bother some but just keep in mind, they're busy because they are that good. Be patient, it's worth it. I wanted to order a bucket of their bruschetta!!! It's made to share but you won't want to. The Calabrian chili pasta really celebrated the pasta, with a light sauce that was both sweet and spicy. Delicious! The eggplant pasta was packed full of flavor. The patio was elegant at night but still able to bring our dog for some sips and a wonderful evening. Certainly one of the best spots in Flagstaff.

This small, family-owned scratch kitchen offering Italian dishes is on Aspen Ave in the heart of downtown historic Flagstaff. Parking can be a challenge so factor in some time to find a spot if you can't walk here. We made reservations online yesterday (Sunday) around 12:30 pm while driving up from Phoenix. We made reservations for 5pm, right when they open again for dinner after closing for a couple hours. You must put a credit card in to make a reservation. We walked in right at 5pm. The greeter pointed at our table and told us we could sit down. Placard with our last name and time at the table. Didn't look too busy on this Sunday but wanted to reserve just in case. Service was slow at first. Maybe because they'd just opened? Second half of the meal, our server, Giovanna, was really great, friendly, and on top of it. Scratch-made pasta, sauces, and old, heirloom recipe marinara here. I was in the mood for some good pasta and felt very satisfied with my meal. One of my daughters is gluten sensitive and thought she'd have to get a salad but good news- house-made gluten free options available! She finished her entire dish. My daughters and I were all happy with what we ordered. Everything was delicious. My bowl was piping hot. We ordered: - Raspberry Vanilla Italian Cream Soda - 5/5 - CAPRESE SALAD - fresh sliced mozzarella (5 pieces), bruschetta, topped with balsamic glaze - 5/5 - CREAMY TUSCAN SALMON - House-made pasta, creamy spinach, artichoke, sun dried tomato, caper sauce, 6oz portion of grilled salmon (chardonnay recommended) - 5/5. This was my dish and it was absolutely perfect. Looks are deceiving- this is a very large bowl of pasta. I took my leftovers home - 5/5 - LEMON CAPER - daughter chose gluten free pasta with lemony garlic buttercream sauce with capers, and fresh mushrooms - 5/5. She was trying to save this delicious sauce for leftovers at the dorm but couldn't resist eating it all - 5/5 - GRILLED CHICKEN MARGHERITA - nut free pesto sauce, fresh sliced mozzarella, NAE grilled chicken & heirloom bruschetta, topped with balsamic glaze and basil (pinot noir recommended). Daughter said this was the best. I tried a noodle with pesto and very good, strong fresh green basil flavor - 5/5 Server will shave as much Parmesan onto your dish when they bring it to the table - Yum! Really wanted to try some of the fabulous cocktails and desserts. Had to drive home so we'll have to come back soon. TV playing hockey above the small bar. Two gender neutral restrooms for customers. More seating in the back.

This is my second Yelp review of this place and my third visit, and honestly, I still don't understand the negative reviews. I will never stop coming here. Here's a picture of my bf, Keith, and me. Keith was the very first person to serve us during our chaotic (but somehow magical) NYE dinner, and we've been back ever since. The food is consistently top-notch. We actually request bar seating because that's where we had our first experience, and it's become part of the tradition. This visit, I ordered the lemon ricotta pasta again, bc it's always delicious. My bf ordered the chicken Alfredo, and it was fantastic as well. I can't speak to what it's like for large groups, but as a couple, we've had nothing but amazing experiences every time we've come here. The food is excellent, the staff is welcoming, and the atmosphere keeps us coming back. 10/10. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

Great girl dinner here last night outside on the back patio. Love that all the pasta is made in house. The portions were great so we split a pasta and added another salmon to it for more protein. The salmon dish was delicious and the sauce was so yummy. Service was great and love its location downtown so you can walk around and explore all the cute local shops before and after dining.

Great dinner experience here recently. We were visiting from Las Vegas, NV for a Christmas event. And decided on comfy Italian food for dinner. We made a reservation a week in advance, which was immensely helpful, since we noticed a lot of walk-in traffics were quoted 45-minutes of wait time. Upon arrival, the White male staff welcomed us warmly. We decided on Caprese salad as the appetizer, which was fresh & had well-seasoned diced tomato atop. I had the Tuscan salmon pasta, and it was delicious with spinach & artichoke. However, I wished the sauce wasn't watery. My husband had the pork chop with pasta, in which he LOVED with fork-tender pork and amazing red sauce. My toddler son loved the butter/garlic pasta. We also had a side of meatballs, which were amazing (not too salty like most restaurants) enmeshed well with marinara sauce with a touch of cinnamon. Our female server was very pleasant too. The restaurant was cozy & inviting too!

We are here after a long day snowboarding and were pleasantly surprised with some of the best Italian food we've had in awhile. The service was excellent and the pasta was very authentic. This last time we got the bolognese which was some of the best I've ever had, meat based and so rich with thick noodles. Aspen and Keith (with hair nonetheless!) helped us and the service was superb. The ambiance here would be great for a date with nice dimmed lighting and just an overall good vibe.

Omg this place was incredible! My boyfriend and I stumbled on this place walking around downtown and I'm so glad we did. The service was incredible as everyone was so friendly, and we were able to sit outside on their cute patio area! Which we loved. The food also 10/10. We ordered the lemon ricotta pasta & arugula which was INCREDIBLE. And, the Calabrian Chile & burrata pasta with peas. Definitely recommend! read more

It was a sad meal. Very slow service, though I think that is because they are understaffed. My omelet was cold and watery and not at all tasty. Our server was apologetic. That was the only bright spot in a very disappointing dining experience. read more

We came here while visiting Flagstaff on our weekend vacation. Let me just say out of all the restaurants we went to the staff was amazing! The atmosphere was so welcoming, cozy, inviting, very clean! The staff was full of younger staff from the host to the bartender to the servers. The food was absolutely fantastic! We had the bruschetta, steak Alfredo, and chicken margherita. We also got some gelato and that was amazing as well! 10/10 this was a last minute reservation that I made and it turned out to be the best food we ate on our trip! I want to say that staff was absolutely amazing hard working and kept that place running smooth all night! Props to them all, we went on November 8th, 2025 7:15pm reservation. The staff was attentive as well, the other restaurants we waited so long in between the appetizers and entrees. The portions were also perfect! I highly recommend anyone stop by here! read more

Nice place, fettuccine alfredo was good. Large meal, can definitely split it. Loved the cannoli martini and the negroni options. Cannoli was great. Wish the meals came with bread and salad, that was the one thing missing but we'll survive lol. I loved the sign in the bathroom! read more

The environment is very cute! Prices were okay given the portions you got. Service was good. They very heavily pepper the hashbrown waffle so beware. It was inedible. I recommend asking for less (or no) pepper. We wanted coffee but was told the machine wasnt working at the time. Overall a nice brunch spot but probably would not go again. read more

The reviews are so up and down, I chose to be my own judge. We ordered garlic bread with sauce. The bread had two different temperatures, hot and cold. One bread looked super suspicious. It was a really dark brown and soggy. I asked the waitress if it was supposed to look like that and she quickly grabbed the slice and said she would bring a new tray. The marinara was decent. We ordered the chicken Alfredo and the sausage mushroom pasta. The food was taking quite a while and it wasn't even that busy. When our food finally came, they didn't ask us if we wanted cheese so we had to wait for them to pass to ask. The only reason this is important is because I tried my chicken Alfredo without it and it had no flavor. I had to heavily salt it then ask for cheese. That helped it a little. The pasta definitely tastes homemade but the sauce had zero flavor. Unfortunately, my boyfriend didn't get to try his pasta because he became sick (unrelated to the restaurant) so I paid the bill and got outta there. They never gave us our new bread and said they'd remove it from our bill but it was still on there. Kinda disappointed in the place. I'll probably just stick to Olive Garden. read more

Me and my family went here a couple days ago, we unfortunately didn't realize they were closing soon but the guy working there was really nice about it and told us to take our time. The interior decor was pretty with the lights and our dining experience was good. Food was made fresh and tasted really great, our server also made a lot of good recommendations. Definitely a gem in Downtown Flagstaff, if you are looking to come here for a quick bite or a family dinner I would 100% recommend!!! food is incredibly delicious!!! Was a Thursday evening. Was seated by the window. Ordered a glass of wine, a signature Bloody Mary and some garlic bread with marinara. The Marinara tasted home made and was so fresh and flavorful! We ordered chicken Alfredo and sausage mushroom pasta. Very delicious and tons of flavor and homemade pasta. Was only a little disappointed you don't get garlic bread with your meal. Service was good and attentive. Was nice to sit next to the window and people watch on a rainy evening. Big windows. Greenery on top. Dark wood interior. I will definitely be back! read more

What a mess. Ordered lunch and waited 40 minutes to be told that they lost our ticket in the kitchen. "Food will be right out" must have a different meaning since 15 minutes later we were told it would be "right out". This place is not worth an hour wait! Service was awful. Took forever to have the server bring our drinks. She brought salad 1 minute before our entrees. Took forever for her to bring the bill after we asked for it and then she brought it back without our credit card. We had to ask her to bring our credit card back as her reply was that it was just lying there and she forgot about it. The food was good but the service was awful. read more

Server was awesome! Didn't get his name but he was very attentive. Order was 1 Alfredo pasta & a spaghetti & meatball! I asked for extra parm because ya girl loves cheese It was pretty good :} homemade pasta which is always delightful Now the desserts were just sensational The lemon gelato was out of this world!! I got 5he strawberry cheesecake which was probably one of the best cheese cakes I've ever had in my life Dont skip dessert! After a long hard day, this hit the spot! read more

Supporting women & small businesses is so undervalued and him doing it is beautiful!! Mikayla was a fantastic server. A flagstaff natives first time and a Phx new comer we were very pleased with this experience. The pasta was out of this world and amen to a traditional recipe that's transcended generations! Cozy restaurant with homemade pastas and sauces. Friendly staff and the food comes out quickly. Sometimes a bit too quickly. The Calabrian chili pasta is delicious as long as you can tolerate spicy food. Spaghetti and meatballs was of the best I've ever had. read more

Good pasta and sauces. The salmon pasta was very good. Service was good. The atmosphere was a bit like a diner, which it once was and a lot of children making noise for whatever reason was a bit bothersome. As with all things Flagstaff it was overpriced but since they give you a good portion pricing can be overlooked. Worth a second visit. read more

Yum! We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. Service, drinks, and food were all great. We sat in the front window and people watched. Everyone we interacted with were very nice. We decided to walk around for First Friday downtown and walked right into Cafe Stella. I've had this fresh pasta spot on my radar for a while. The garlic bread and marinara was to die for - o-m-gee! I ordered the Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc. Always nice and light. The rest of the meal was ... meh. Pasta was okay. I had to use salt and pepper to get some flavor in my dish. We ordered a side of the marinara sauce to add to our dish. Finally, some flavor. Ended with the cannolis. Biting into a cannoli should be like biting into a cloud of whipped heaven. I took a bite and put it down. It was like biting into condensed grainy thick frosting. Next time I come here it will be for a salad, garlic bread, and a martini. read more

What an unbelievable gem. The food was so much better than could be expected. Homemade pastas and sauces from old family recipes from northern Italy. You have to eat here. Service was incredible on top of everything else. Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you. This should be fine dining establishment with this cuisine. read more

The food was incredible, and the music and ambiance made it a very enjoyable evening. Doug gave us some of the best service I have ever received, making incredible food and drink recommendations. The steak Alfredo and tiramisu were both delicious, and the portions are amazing for the price. I have lived in flagstaff for over 15 years and after one trip this is already one of my favorite places in town. read more

Cafe Stella is a family owned scratch Italian- American kitchen that has brought family recipes from Italy that are over 300 years old. Stella’s pride itself on providing the best dining experience as well as locally sourced ingredients. We hope that you'll leave as famiglia and continue to come back time after time to keep enjoying our families most precious Italian dishes. Come enjoy our large outdoor dog friendly patio located on the back side of the restaurant. We have private dining spaces available inside and on our patio for larger intimate events. We take reservations year round and definitely recommend making one if you plan on dining with us during dinner as we typically fill up quickly.

History

Established in 2023.

Chandi has taken family recipes straight from her family in Italy that are over 308 years old. These recipes have been passed down from her great great grandpa down to her great grandpa, to her grandpa, her grandma, and to her. We take pride in being a scratch kitchen and ask that you allow 1 hour for your dining experience as we prepare each dish from start to finish.

If you don't want to hear the kids screaming, you can sit in their patio area. Yes, it is quieter outside! Trust me. I don't drink, but thanks to a visit to Mexico, I learned about tequila. Let me tell you, this place has some good tequila on the menu. I had their carne asada plate. I couldn't finish it all because it was huge, and, well, there was no room for dessert.
