Service was good, menu had just enough selection, prices were fair, and food was good. The summer cavatelli with corn ragu was different in a good way and not heavy. It was a humid night. The chicken parm was perfect. It was crisp with a delicious sauce. My complaint and the reason for four stars and not five is twofold. I'm not sure why these new Italian places are not serving any little something as soon as one sits such as bread or maybe olives. The chicken parm came with a small side salad. In most places this would be served with pasta. With that said, the food was very good, the cocktails were reasonably priced and delicious, and the backyard area felt European.
I came here for my birthday dinner and was pretty happy with all the food! Food: we got the rice balls which was my favorite thing- 10/10 would order these again! We also got the mozzerella in carraza which is something in between a mozzerella stick and a mozzerella sandwich! It was good but a little too tart for my liking. I got the rigatoni alla vodka which was great! I wish there was a little more sauce to add some depth! I didn't try the fusilli but I heard it is amazing. Ambience: there is an outdoor heated patio which is where most people sit. It is quite loud and tight! But a lot of seating. Service: service was fine; our waiter was a bit too fast at taking things like the drink menu and more away. For birthdays: they send over a bottle with a candle and a scoop of strawberry sorbet Price: decent got quantity and quality
Another amazing restaurant in NYC that is a must try. Friendly and welcoming environment with plenty of options for all that won't break the bank. My daughter and I absolutely loved our experience. We had dinner reservations and were seated immediately. Host was very friendly and all of the wait staff were amazing. Informative and professional at all times. We decided to start with a Caesar salad and fire roasted bread sticks to start. They even put fresh anchovies on the side upon my request. Both were very tasty. For entrees we ordered the Lemon pasta and Spaghetti with clams. Both some of my favorite dishes. They came out warm and tasty. Wine list was extensive and had many nice Italian wines. The mocktails were full of flavor which my daughter adored. There was plenty of seating inside and outside as well. Definitely a spot to come check out with the family. Bon appetite!!
I had a weekend dinner reservation for two. Overall I think this is a good local neighborhood spot, but I'm not sure I'd travel too far to dine here if I lived in the city, as there are better Italian options. Ambiance / Service: casual, but warm and cozy. Good spot for a date night. I also saw someone celebrate a birthday (they bring out a giant sparkler which is fun). Service was good, just a bit slow. Food: ordered the below split amongst two people. -Garlic Twists: comes with two. I enjoyed. -Caesar: dressing was more vinegar-y and less garlicky creamy Caesar. But I still enjoyed. -Calamari (fried): this was a special. What you'd expect calamari to taste like, crunchy and well seasoned. -Casarecce: not spicy. Creamy. Crab is shredded versus lumps of meat. It needed a bit more salt, but I enjoyed and would order again. -Ricotta Gnocchi: this was a standout dish. It's creamy and melts in your mouth, has a sweetness to it, and you can really taste the butternut squash. Perfect seasonal dish for the fall / winter. -Chicken Parm: saucy and generous portion. If getting other mains, you could easily split among three people. Comes with a small arugula salad. Needed more salt, but I still enjoyed it. -Tiramisu: classic. Delicious. Great to share with someone else.
We're neighborhood originals and can happily & honestly say, that our experience at Cafe Spaghetti was EXCELLENT! When we arrived they seated us at a table in a smaller section that we really weren't comfortable in. I was unaware of the various sections they have within their restaurant and picked what I thought was their larger inside seating area. Thankfully, our hostess (and every server that came through) was super accommodating and we had a short wait for a cleared table in the backyard area. Everything from drinks to food was tasty and flavorful. EVERY staff member from the bus boys to our amazing waiter Tommy, was warm, friendly and were all smiling and welcoming.... It's a Brooklyn thing that should always continue that many establishments forget about. Gia and I shared the Cacio è Pepe rice balls and pepperoncini clams for appetizers and skirt steak (app Brussels sprouts on the side) and the bronzino as main courses. All were top notch! Lots of textures and delicious. And if you go, MAKE SURE you try their made-in-house Tiramisu. It's spectacular and not to be missed. So light and so delicious. Pair it with an Espresso martini and every bite brings you closer to heaven! We'll be back for sure and will finally be able to reco a solid Italian spot within Cobble Hill. Thanks Cafe Spaghetti Crew... you guys are the best
We stopped by for dinner on a recent summer weekend. Luckily we came early and was able to walk in for a table on the sidewalk. Since it was our first time at Cafe Spaghetti, we ordered several dishes to share. Started with the cacio e pepe rice balls, which had a creamy, cheesy interior and a crunchy exterior. Next was the seasonal mezzi rigatoni with a cream sauce and summer corn, cherry tomatoes and scallions. It was a perfect summer pasta and my favorite dish from the meal. We also ordered the spaghetti alle vongole with red sauce. It came topped with a lot of clams and was a comforting classic dish. Lastly, we tried the chicken parmigiana which came with a side of arugula salad. The two large pieces of chicken were topped with marinara, cheese and basil. It was cooked well, but I prefer chicken parmigiana to be thinner. We were too full to get dessert so we definitely need to come back to try the tiramisu!
I'm a big fan of Swoony's, the younger sister to this Italian hotspot, so it was about time I came and tried the original restaurant from these fine folks. With a beautiful enclosed backyard, it's an excellent choice for a weekday lunch in nice weather (closed Mondays). I met a couple friends back there, and after chatting with our nice server (the same one I've had at Swoony's) we enjoyed some cocktails and wine, and looked over the menu. We weren't feeling like pasta and sandwiches, so we just ordered all the antipasto and a caesar salad. And by all the antipasto, I mean the olives, the cacio e pepe arancini, the meatballs in sugo, the ricotta crostini, the brussel sprouts, the mozzarella en carrozza, and the fried potatoes. And it was good. I'm usually a big fan of starters, and the ricotta crostini was everything I wanted it to be. Mozzarella en carrozza is just a fancy grown-up mozzarella stick, and I mean that in a very complimentary way (especially with that calabrian chili). The brussels were a bit of a disappointment in the flavor department, but everything else mostly hit the spot. All in all, a very nice lunch if you can swing it. I think I'll need to come back for a proper, pasta-heavy dinner, but so far I like the vibe here.
It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I had the vodka pasta with a chicken cutlet and the seafood pasta option. Both lacked flavor and depth that I was looking for in a good pasta. My entire party also agreed that the food was just ok. I wouldn't particularly come back unless someone insisted. The outside patio was cute though. The decor of the restaurant was extremely cozy during winter time.
My experience here was nice, when we got there it was pretty empty but soon filled up as it must be a neighborhood favorite. We sat in the backyard that is now covered, not sure if they remove it to let some sun in during peak summer. It had air conditioning so I'd assume maybe not. The menu has changed from previous photos I've seen on here and google, not sure if it's seasonal. But they had great choices with a special dish of the day. Get the Garlic Twists! We got it as an appetizer and got it for our meal as well because it was so good. We also ordered baked clams, casarecce crab which has alil spice to it, and the spaghetti alla vonogle - all great flavor. My favorite was the crab pasta and twists of course. I mistakenly ordered the desert thinking it was a sorbet but it sadly was not. It taste okay, I'm not usually a fan of lemon cake/tarts but loveeee sorbet so I was hoping for a limoncello one similar to Italy. They had a cute Vespa bike in the backyard that a few kids were taking pictures by. All and all the vibes were chill and very family like. I'd be back again for some more pasta if in the area
Pretty good! Such a dreamy summer night. 5/5 front and backyard outdoor seating, dog friendliness, and kindness of everyone who works there. 4/5 on the food, with half our dishes being delicious but too salty (the baked clams and the fusilli bolognese). The crab pasta was creamy and a real treat, while the garlic twists are great but nothing groundbreaking, same with the spumoni. Nonetheless, such a relaxing evening dining there and would try their sister restaurant Swoony's around the corner next.
What a hidden gem in Brooklyn! To think Italian is the same everywhere you go is to not understand what Cafe Spaghetti brings to the table. From the food to the service to the ambiance it all comes together for a trifecta of an experience. If you can request Wes to be your server (never have met someone with so much care and attention to their craft) The restaurant is a beautiful place that feels like a home in Naples which is inviting and feels cozy. Was able to get a table within a few moments and was seated in the garden it's a beautiful environment with tables that feel like you're transported to Naples and sitting under a garden itself. There is a beautiful Vespa in the middle which only furthers the intentionality of this place to bring that home feeling. Now let's get into the service. The menu which is seemingly simple really packs a punch between an antipasti, a pasta and a main dish. For some it may seem overwhelming as all looks amazing. We were fortunate enough to have Wes guide us through this menu and provide recommendations. These recommendations did not disappoint at all. Wes was mindful of us the whole night which made a full restaurant feel intimate and cared for. Wes was a highlight of this restaurant and made the night that much more enjoyable Now time for the food began with a Cesar Romana and the flavor profile on this was amazing. The dressing is not overwhelming and each shred of lettuce was coated in this amazing toasted croutons and light coating of the dressing. It seemed so unexpected yet pack a punch! Def worth a try. We had the meatballs which comes in a plate of three and if you are coming by yourself I would recommend get the order. They are tender and not overcooked in a sauce that is unforgettable. The portion size is great and brings a great start to the meal. The mozzarella in carrozo is what took the antipasto over the top. The lemon wedge is not a mere suggestion but a portal to the next level of this dish. It is light and filling at the same time which opens up your appetite for more. For the main I ordered the fusilli with bolognese which has to be my favorite bolognese sauce ever. The fusilli was the perfect transporter of flavor and held the sauce so well in a way that could not be done in any other way again. The sauce so decadent yet so light making you feel full yet craving more. It is a dish that on its own would be worth the trip out here. The dessert was the icing on the cake (pun intended) it was a cannoli that held its own. A filling that is light and airy but also flavorful in the same manner. The shell tastes as fresh as perhaps being made moments before being served perfectly crisp and flavorful. The tiramisu felt like a bite of heaven. It is a bite that tastes like nothing I have had before it is creamy and decadent yet light at the same time I would say the perfect storm for a flavor profile that would not be forgotten. Overall this is the place you have to be! Can't wait to come back again. Thank you Cafe Spaghetti and thank you Wes for this experience that made me have hope for Italian dining in NYC again
Fun vibe, we came here based on yelp reviews. My rigatoni was so delicious and creamy with a big portion to stuff me. His gnocchi was sweet from the butternut squash and a much smaller portion. Forgot to take pics of our burrata and focaccia appetizer was a 10/10, but again such a small plate.
The food here was absolutely amazing, every dish we had was fantastic and so flavorful. The BREAD!! It was some of the best garlic bread I've ever had. The staff was also very nice and the ambiance is what drove me to try this place - it did not disappoint.
Went here for the first time two nights ago. We came for a birthday dinner and were sat in the back. From the outside and intial steps inside this looks like a quaint italian restaurant, which is the exact vibe we were hoping for, but then as you are led to the back the space completely opens up and there is ample seating. The service was friendly and well-paced. We started off with the burrata, ricotta crostini, and baked clams. All were amazing however the burrata was nothing special, I would skip that if anything. The ricotta and calms were both amazing and so flavorful, wonderful way to start of the meal. For mains I got the rigatoni mezze (served with crab--pictured below), also tried the chicken Milanese, bolognese, and branzino. All were so so good but I did enjoy my pasta the most. It was spicy and creamy and perfectly Al dente. Everything was very good though. No complaints. Lastly, for dessert, we had the lemon sorbet, hazelnut gelato, and Nutella bombolonie. All were sooo good, but would recommend the sorbet as it was most refreshing and light after a big meal. Also for the birthday they brought out 2 sparkler candles and sang, made it all the more special. Would most definitely come here again! read more
Such a cute garden space and a must visit during the warmer months. I will be singing the praises of the Caprese cocktail to all who will hear. I tried the ricotta gnocchi with corn ragù and the orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe and although they were both amazing, that gnocchi is dazzling. The tiramisu was a nice sweet treat at the end and definitely big enough for 2 people to share. We had the foccacia appetizer and the baked clams, but I must say the foccacia was a bit on the doughy side. The clams were great and one of our party members had never had baked clams before and was really happy with them read more

Literally stumbled upon this hidden gem while strolling through Brooklyn one morning. Decided to stop and have a quick brunch, which might end up being the best decision I've made this year! Every dish was tasty, balanced, and left me longing for more. The ambiance was quite relaxed for weekend brunch, and the friendly service made me feel at home in the neighborhood. My favorite dish was the classic Spaghetti Pomodoro, and the Crispy Brussel Sprouts might be the best I've had, ever. Needless to say, I will definitely soon be back to one of my new favorite Italian spots in NYC! read more

Great little gem in carrol gardens. Great service by the hostess, waitress and manager. The plates were delicious. Some elevated traditional ones and some new unique ones what a great neighborhood place to go to if you're from here or traveling to. Highly recommended. read more

I only learned about this restaurant because a visiting friend from out of town insisted on coming here. The restaurant, located on the outer reaches of Cobble Hill, is deceptively large - they have built a solarium like structure out in the back which is pretty cool. The menu is southern Italian standards like pasta vongole, arancini, eggplant parm, and tiramisu. Our group had all of these, plus a ricotta crostini with truffled honey and nice fennel and arugula salad. Food was above average - all very tasty and good portions. The hazelnut gelato was out of this world, maybe it was the wine but it made an impression on me. Speaking of which, the drinks were good - I had the negroni and a glass of verdicchio. It was a perfect casual dinner. Service was excellent - Joey was a joy and all around lovely server. Definitely one to add to the rotation. You wont be disappointed. read more
A very cute Italian neighborhood spot in Carroll Gardens that serves great pasta dishes. Their whole restaurant is narrow, but goes back pretty far. Their back area is fully enclosed and heated right now, so it's pretty much the same as sitting inside. I can imagine it's even better in the summer when they open it up! We started with 3 apps and then 3 pastas + dessert for 4 people and it was enough food since its pretty much all carbs - Caesar salad: I thought this was just ok, and would probably try the arugula salad next time - Cacio e pepe rice balls: This was highly recommended by a friend, but maybe I'm just not into rice balls or don't appreciate the hype. They were perfectly crisp and cheesy, but it's just exactly what it is lol a fried ball of rice. - Ricotta toast: pleasantly surprised with this! Many different flavors : it's a little bit sweet from the honey and a nice surprise with the truffle. also loved the crunch on top - Fusili: my fave pasta of the night! a classic bolognese sauce - Penne with crab: this one had more cajun flavors in my opinion. There was a decent amount of shredded crab, but I wasn't that into the taste. Also has a slight kick to it - Fettuccini with shrimp: really enjoyed this one as well! it was their special that night, and the pasta and shrimp were cooked perfectly - Tiramisu: highly recommend saving room for the tiramisu! It's more on the creamy side and kinda plops on the plate, melting down but it's not soggy. I can see why this would be a popular spot if you live in the neighborhood, but it's a bit far for us to travel to. I'd come back if others wanted to try though ! There were a few other things on the menu we didn't get read more
The energy was like going to your nonna's house. Beautifully decorated, quaint restaurant with big personality staff. I immediately felt at home upon going. My partner has been following this place for a while and glad we could get reservations here. They also had the back patio open even in the cool weather (not sure if it's heated.) The menu is simple and no frills which I greatly appreciate. The food is rustic, perfect serving sizes and let the ingredients speak for themselves. Had the ricotta pancakes. Owww weeee! They were fluffy, not overly sweet and the toppings complimented it well. I was in full brunch mood.I had the baked egg and bloody mary, they were superb. Ended my meal with tiramisu. They put their foot in it! It was perfect. Overall the price was very fair considering location. Run to Cafe Spaghetti you'll be glad you did. read more
I rarely make it down to this narrow strip of land between Cobble Hill and Red Hook, but I'm glad I had a chance to try this new much-heralded, if cheekily named, bastion of Brooklynized Italian cooking, offered in beautiful quaint environs. We shared the spiadini, cacio e pepe arancini, a Caesar salad, the eggplant Parmesan, and cavatelli with squash. The tangy yet cheesy and perfectly soft spiadini was definitely my favorite dish of the evening, followed by the creamy cavatelli dish. The cacio e pepe was a bit too mild for my taste. The aperitivo bianco was an excellent cocktail. read more

We sat outside( private party inside) It's clean, well lit. We never felt abandoned. Our server was very attentive. Made some suggestions and was able to accommodate an Allium allergy We started our brunch with several appetizers. Rice balls, burrata cremosa, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, grill ciabatta, all so flavorful, plentiful The romaine Caesar with fried egg , and the breakfast spaghetti ( a first for us and so delicious) was a huge hit. The portions were just right. A man would come by and ask how we were, if we needed anything. Now we see why this Cafe is so popular. The service and food is flawless! read more
Tried the Bolognese, Butternut Squash Pasta and Milanese at Cafe Spaghetti. The Butternut Squash Pasta stole the spotlight, but the others were good too. Service was good... nothing memorable which is a good thing. They really pack people into the space which actually gives a nice homey feel. read more
While it looks small on the inside, when you walk in you'll be surprised to see how large and open their back patio is. Rice balls were amazing!! Definitely recommend! We were a party of 4 and the order comes with 3 rice balls, but our waiter let us know we can add an additional for a small upcharge. I personally ordered the NY strip which was seasoned really well - wasn't expecting too much since this restaurant is pasta-focused but I'd order it again! read more
What Cafe Spaghetti lacks in terms of a creative name, it more than makes up for in terms of its menu. It pulls off a neighborhood vibe, while still feeling very much like a fancy Italian restaurant. We tried the burrata appetizer, which comes with prosciutto, tomatoes, and focaccia. The burrata was smooth and creamy, and the bread was toasted perfectly to go with everything else on the plate (though it got pretty oily from sitting in the dish). Everything tasted really fresh. For mains, we tried the orecchiette and another ragu pasta dish (not pictured). Both were well prepared and tasted fantastic. The menu is straightforward, with a few tempting options for each course. I always appreciate restaurants that do a few dishes well, instead of overloading with mediocre options. The space is a little cramped, especially inside. But there's outdoor seating for when it's nice out! And with most mains coming in under $30, this place delivers a great meal at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit! read more
Recommend reservations at least 1-2 weeks ahead of time. We got seated by the bar which had its perks and great service, but would love to see the backyard patio next time. Fast paced but still cozy. Absolutely must not miss the Ricotta crostini with truffle honey and rosemary and hazelnut was yum. The truffle oil and rosemary takes it over the edge. One large piece made a good size appetizer for 2. Then I also had the spaghetti pomodoro, basic but executed well and still tasty. You can taste the love in the marinara. Also got the cavatelli with zucchini which was also decent but it was very plain. Tasted like butter pasta and fried zucchini. Small cocktail menu but done well, got the gin and orange? drink which was so smooth and paired well with everything else. Affogato was pretty good, esp the cappuccino but I'd probably get the tiramisu instead next time read more
There's a lot of hype and great write ups about this place so had to get there. If you can't walk there then parking is a huge issue. It's extremely extremely small but way back there's an enclosed outdoor much larger area. We got there when they reopened for the dinner shift. It was totally freezing. There's heaters but everyone was sitting in their coats including me. Since it's an outdoor area, the tables and chairs are on pebbles Appetizers - Spedini which is like a fancy grilled cheese with a red sauce. Nothing to write home about. I would have preferred the bread crunchy. It was soft - Ricotta Crostini - in general I always love this but again was disappointing because it wasn't crunchy - on a soft crostini. Pasta - we shared Orecchiette which was amazing. Broccoli rabe and sausage. Mains- Eggplant parm. Delicious. Great sauce. Nice portion Chicken Franchese - good and lemony. Chicken was a drop tough Best part of my meal - decaf coffee was delicious and tiramisu - one of the best I've ever tasted. read more
Sal Napoli, formerly of Bar Primi, just opened his own restaurant, another great Italian spot, this time in Brooklyn. So obviously get the spaghetti, but there are so many other great pastas and starters to try. Don't miss the Carciofi Fritti ($15) to start, and definitely get the Fusilli Grosso ($21) also. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. The backyard space is amazing, perfect for kids if you come around opening time. read more
Overall rating: 4.7 I just happened upon this place when I was in the neighborhood waiting to meet up with a friend. I had only a beer at the bar. But during that small amount of time, the hostess, bartender and staff were so friendly! It was much needed because I was having a rough day. I definitely want to come back and try the pasta if I'm ever in the area. Recommend giving it a try. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. They really pack in the place though. I felt cramped and while the server was attentive, we definitely felt rushed. But everyone was very nice from start to finish. And all of the dishes were tasty. read more
This place is so great!! First our server Brendan was super helpful and friendly, took the time to go through the whole menu with us and answer all of our questions and advise on things to order. The olive oil martini was so amazing, I'm on a huge martini kick and this one was truly excellent. Had a few apps and 4 pastas everything was excellent and would have again. The fusilli bolognese was my surprise hit, it was not my fav dish on paper but once I got it wow blew me away. The backyard was also really nice and has a covering so all seasons. read more

To start - the bolognese at Cafe Spaghetti is the best I've ever had. And the other food is also excellent! We had the Caesar (slightly overdressed but delicious), the rice balls, and the Brussels sprouts (unclear if there was still any nutritional value under the pepperoni and dressing but wow were they good) followed by the bolognese (incredible!) and tubuletti (good, but not great). We had a round of cocktails and none stood out. This is clearly a neighborhood spot but it's also worth a trip for the bolognese and Brussels sprouts. read more

The pasta noodles themselves were the shining star at @cafespaghetti in my opinion. The chewy texture was obviously handmade and just stood out so much. Loved it! Actually enjoyed our experience here! We put our names down and waited for about 45 minutes to be seat which wasn't too bad of a wait. When our table was ready, it was a high top table. The hostess informed us that if a regular table opened up she can provide it for us. She also closed the front door because she saw that I was cold. Very accommodating! Luckily a table opened up and we switched. Have to say that everything we ordered was phenomenal! Everything was fresh and had so much flavor. Definitely will return and make reservations prior! read more

Cafe Spaghetti is either new or severely underrated. We came here the weekend after thanksgiving, and many places were still closed - we had tried to go to another southern/pasta fusion place a couple blocks away. We saw that Cafe Spaghetti had good reviews and wanted to stick to an Italian/pasta theme and decided to come here. Honestly, Cafe Spaghetti's name is hiding something. You would think that it's some Brooklyn diner that specializes in Spaghetti and Meatballs - very wrong. Walked in and saw that it looked quite upscale and charming. The front is small - could fit about 3-4 small tables. However our server just kept guiding us deeper and deeper into the restaurant. We were seated in their covered and heated backyard. Food was exceptional - my entire party got the Fusili - which had a creamy burrata. Simple and rich flavors + textures, when combined with additional Parmesan and the hot pepper flakes they give. We also shared some meatballs as an appetizer - juicy and it stayed intact when bitten into. This is definitely a local hidden gem, since when we went it was jam-packed. Will definitely come back again. read more
1. If you come here, you must eat in the garden, or it's not worth it. When you walk through the restaurant and step out the back door, you are moving from the streets of BK to the streets of Napoli; you will feel transformed! 2. Chef Sal is an absolute angel and has created a beautiful, family-oriented establishment. His ode to his grandmother's sauce and his father's tiramisu warms the heart. The service is attentive and friendly. 3. I felt that the antipasti were the real hits. We ordered the ricotta crostini, the meatballs, and the rice balls- all must orders. 4. For pasta, we chose the spaghetti pomodoro, the fusilli, and the orecchiette. My favorite was actually the namesake dish- simple, garlic forward, delicious. Come here for a lovely vibe, a good time, and a solid meal! read more
The had me at the name! Local spot with accolades & a lovely backyard brought us to Carroll Gardens. Neighborhood spot & essentially small plates, the menu is classic & innovative at the same time but very limited on veggies. We snagged a backyard seat by reservation but I'm guessing there's a lot of walk in's as there was an annoying crush at the door at 5PM. Ate: Crostini with ricotta Watermelon & tomato salad with ricotta salada Branzino Oreganata Orecchiette with sausage & broccoli rabe Total: $101 with tip My expectations were high and flavors did not disappoint. Branzino with butter beans was the best interpretation of oregonata I ever had. The pasta: my boyfriends pasta was Uber tasty but only one or two pastas on menu are homemade. That was surprising. While the salad was super tasty, given its tomato season the tomatoes did not stand out as seasonal. The crostini was yummy but I didn't get the pedestrian bread service, when we requested bread we didn't get dipping no oil. I'm guessing if you're more of a carb Harb and get the homemade pasta you will be more satisfied dining here. read more

Is front deck or backyard heated?
I'm not sure about the front, we were seated in the back and yes, it had some heating. Inside is actually really nice but most if not all the tables were just for 2. Hope this helps.
