We had reservations at 5pm on a Sat. We ate inside which was tight but still a nice experience. Service was very good. My husband and I both had Amaro colada cocktails which were nicely made and delicious. We started with the spiedini alla Romana which is like a grilled cheese with sauce. It was really good but very filling so beware. :) I had the eggplant parm which was very good - came out super hot and was also a generous portion. I could only eat half. It was pretty salty (and I like my food salty). I am speculating that they may need to rinse the eggplant better after salting to remove the moisture. There's a lot of hype and great write ups about this place so had to get there. If you can't walk there then parking is a huge issue. It's extremely extremely small but way back there's an enclosed outdoor much larger area. We got there when they reopened for the dinner shift. It was totally freezing. There's heaters but everyone was sitting in their coats including me. Since it's an outdoor area, the tables and chairs are on pebbles Appetizers - Spedini which is like a fancy grilled cheese with a red sauce. Nothing to write home about. I would have preferred the bread crunchy. It was soft - Ricotta Crostini - in general I always love this but again was disappointing because it wasn't crunchy - on a soft crostini. Absolutely must not miss the Ricotta crostini with truffle honey and rosemary and hazelnut was yum. The truffle oil and rosemary takes it over the edge. One large piece made a good size appetizer for 2. Then I also had the spaghetti pomodoro, basic but executed well and still tasty. You can taste the love in the marinara. Also got the cavatelli with zucchini which was also decent but it was very plain. Tasted like butter pasta and fried zucchini. What Cafe Spaghetti lacks in terms of a creative name, it more than makes up for in terms of its menu. It pulls off a neighborhood vibe, while still feeling very much like a fancy Italian restaurant. We tried the burrata appetizer, which comes with prosciutto, tomatoes, and focaccia. The burrata was smooth and creamy, and the bread was toasted perfectly to go with everything else on the plate (though it got pretty oily from sitting in the dish). Everything tasted really fresh. For mains, we tried the orecchiette and another ragu pasta dish (not pictured). Both were well prepared and tasted fantastic. The menu is straightforward, with a few tempting options for each course. I always appreciate restaurants that do a few dishes well, instead of overloading with mediocre options. The space is a little cramped, especially inside. I thought this place was slightly overrated. I gave it a 4 for the overall experience but the pasta dish I came for was underwhelming and closer to a 3.5. For starters, the meatballs and ricotta crostini were great and definitely worth getting. I really enjoyed the truffle honey on the crostini. We also had the arugula insalata which was very salty to the point of being inedible. I had the crab pasta for the main dish. It was creamy and had a ton of crab. The pasta itself was good but the sauce lacked flavor. We sat outside and the temperature was perfect, but our main waitress seemed to forget about us on a few occasions. Overall the serving staff was good, bringing water constantly and cleaning the table between appetizers and mains. However, at one point a few of us finished our wine glasses and had to ask another member of the wait staff to bring our bottle back to the table. Same thing happened with the check at the end. Stopped here on a Friday night thinking we had a reservation (later finding out we made one for the week after) but they were so accommodating and nice!! We were sat in the outdoor area that was so cosy. The service was great and very attentive and everything was so friendly. We ordered the Caesar salad, spaghetti alle vongole and bolognese. So obviously get the spaghetti, but there are so many other great pastas and starters to try. Don't miss the Carciofi Fritti ($15) to start, and definitely get the Fusilli Grosso ($21) also. I loved the food and the decor, and the service was attentive. however what completely ruined the experience was the atmosphere. I dined on a Saturday night on the back patio and it was infiltrated by families with little kids who made it feel like I was dining in a zoo- kids screaming and crying, throwing their utensils, even climbing all over the moped as if they were at Chuck E. Cheese. I guess since this restaurant is in a more family friendly neighborhood of Brooklyn, the parents feel entitled to use this restaurant like their child's personal playground. its unfortunate that the parents are too selfish and stupid to disciple their own children and ruined the experience for other adult diners like myself. read more

The first time my daughter and I visited Cafe Spaghetti, the backyard garden area was open, but had no roof. Since then, they have built a roof and added air conditioning, which makes the backyard much more comfortable, if not a bit more noisy . Be that as it may, it assures the availability of the area rain or shine. The other thing is the staff remains friendly and knowledgeable, The big news is the food remains the star of the experience and, while we probably ordered too much of it, the quality of the ingredients and the expert preparation are unmatched. I felt afterwards that I'd like to live down the block so I could come several times and keep sampling their menu, I can almost guarantee that if you enjoy Italian food done perfectly, you too will award Cafe Spaghetti with 5 stars. I hate to write a lackluster review for a place that is clearly being embraced as a neighborhood spot with charm. It is that, for sure: a nice spot for locals to have a meal they could have cooked at home had they felt like putting in more than the minimum. Basic dried pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe (according to our waitress, there isn't a single dish made with housemade pasta here, which is surprising for a place called Cafe Spaghetti). A steak you asked for medium rare but the chef hammered and cooked well done, neglecting to trim the gristle sufficiently so it was all a bit too chewy (it was also strangely served stuffed on a tiny plate that made it impossible to cut without most of the food flying off of the plate). A pretty sad spaghetti with clams...bland sauce, nothing particularly interesting about it. The eggplant parmesan was a highlight. The spiedini was something new to me and we liked it - a mozzarella grilled cheese topped with a super lemony tomato basil sauce. The tiramisu was very good as well and we liked the ricotta crostini. But the rest was just...fine. It wasn't priced for fine. It wasn't hyped for fine. And frankly, I want my restaurant experiences to be more than what I can easily do at home with 15 minutes and the right ingredients on hand. I want them to try a little harder. I want them to put a few dishes on a menu that surprise me and take too much work to make at home. Make a sauce or two that I don't see elsewhere. Put some effort into making the key ingredients that one expects in at least one dish at a destination Italian restaurant. And for heaven's sake, don't hammer a steak to oblivion when the patron asks for medium rare. Feel like something basic and homey? I can see the appeal. Many of the other places with truly epic Italian food are just too hard to get into. But I think for even good home cooking, you can do better and they can too. read more

The front is small - could fit about 3-4 small tables. However our server just kept guiding us deeper and deeper into the restaurant. We were seated in their covered and heated backyard. Food was exceptional - my entire party got the Fusili - which had a creamy burrata. Simple and rich flavors + textures, when combined with additional Parmesan and the hot pepper flakes they give. We also shared some meatballs as an appetizer - juicy and it stayed intact when bitten into. This is definitely a local hidden gem, since when we went it was jam-packed. Branzino with butter beans was the best interpretation of oregonata I ever had. The pasta: my boyfriends pasta was Uber tasty but only one or two pastas on menu are homemade. That was surprising. While the salad was super tasty, given its tomato season the tomatoes did not stand out as seasonal. The crostini was yummy but I didn't get the pedestrian bread service, when we requested bread we didn't get dipping no oil. Cafe Spaghetti came onto my radar after reading a review on NY Eater, so I decided to try it out during my last NYC visit. I went for an early evening dinner, and bar seating was easy to find for one (they do offer outdoor seating, and given the size of the restaurant, I would definitely recommend making reservations if you are not dining solo). Service was fast and friendly, and I decided to try a pasta dish along with an appetizer. The fried artichokes (carciofi fritti) were lightly battered and paired well with the aioli. Even though this was a fried appetizer, it wasn't heavy and left me enough space for my orecchiette entree. The combination of pasta, sausage, and broccoli rabe was well-made, with the pasta texture holding up excellently in combination with the heartier ingredients. When I visited, they offered a limited alcohol selection of beers, wines, and aperitifs (the Pasubio Highball was quite refreshing). I did not have room for dessert, but I would definitely try one if I visited again! read more

But the front porch was still awesome, and just coming back from Amalfi, this place had great Italian vibes throughout. And luckily, we loved our waitress Magda! She was prompt, pleasant, attentive (in just the right way), kind and steered us in the proper direction in terms of menu. Consider yourself lucky if you have her serving you. I told her we're coming back in two weeks, and hope to have her serve us again. Valana as the hostess was also kind and helpful. It's a popular restaurant (and getting more popular every day) and she deftly handled the eager patrons. The food was some of the best Italian food we've had in recent memory. Excellent pastas (no surprise considering the Bar Primi experience). Don't sleep on the ricotta ravioli, we weren't dead set on it and it turned out to be our favorite. Loved the penne with crab meat and meatballs too (great red sauce). Delicious arugula salad and fusilli with ragu. We came back here last weekend now that they're open for brunch and had a wonderful experience once again. They covered the entire backyard so you shouldn't have to worry about being cold during the winter months ahead. We shared the Pomodoro Baked Eggs, Burrata Sandwich, and Ricotta Pancakes between two of us. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the egg dish, which reminded me of shakshuka, very yummy.
