This place is small but charming. The food is really good and the menu consists of mostly breakfast items. They do close early (at 2pm) but if you can make it in before then it is definitely worth it. This place is also BYOB so you could easily turn your visit into a brunch hangout (as long as you get there early). This is my favorite brunch place, hands down. They always have amazing specials that change up each day. Basically everything on the menu tastes amazing, so you can't go wrong with whatever you decide. I'm a personal fan of the speciality coffees and beverages. Specifically the strawberry lemonade and s'mores coffee beverage that comes every now and again. The service is also always outstanding. They are great at answering questions, coming by in a timely manner, and giving you time to enjoy your food. There is usually a wait, but it's super worth it. I came here for lunch with my girlfriend due to the reviews on Yelp. We were a little confused by the nondescript exterior of the building but the interior was very pretty and packed. I got the chicken club sandwich while my girlfriend got the black bean avocado burger. The food was decently portioned but not as big as typical diner sandwiches. Both our meals were pretty goo but not amazing. Her burger especially was a little dry and could've used some aioli (which my sandwich came with and was very good). Mine came with chips and her's with french fries. The chips were a little stale but the fries were very good and very crispy. For the lunch, I think this restaurant deserves four stars. However we saw a lot of the other customers ordering breakfast food which looked amazing. I'm going to have to come back here for breakfast and can hopefully change my 4 stars to 5! read more

Always has amazing food and service. I come every weekend and it's always a hit. The only downside is they are always packed.

I'm giving this restaurant five stars due to the surrounding location. If this restaurant was somewhere like Houston for example it would probably be four stars. When we arrived to the restaurant there was a 45 minute wait which was slightly disappointing. They did however offer free lemon water and coffee which was a pleasant surprise. I may come back again one afternoon just for the free coffee. When we got inside I was impressed by the decor. The place must've been recently renovated as they had nice lights and trees around. The strawberry lemonade was phenomenal and the buffalo chicken sandwich was tasty. My wife and I, along with our double date, will be back here again - five stars read more

I was super excited to finally try this place and it was a huge let down. With such glowing reviews I am very shocked. Maybe we went on an off day? I got a basic breakfast - eggs, potatoes, turkey bacon, toast. The turkey bacon was the exact same kind served at the Ewing Diner which is cool because it's delicious. The scrambled eggs were just ok. The potatoes were disgusting and inedible. I should of sent them back. I would definitely say we will continue to be regulars at the Ewing Diner, our bill is always less and the food is always more. read more

Cafe 72 is has consistently good fare, a friendly staff, and is always a welcome change from the usual suburban restaurants. We love to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner....there is always something new to order! This is probably the closest place I have found to a cozy city bistro since moving into the 'burbs...not to mention, I have never had a dissappointing meal or experience at this unassuming West Trenton gem - and I have also purchased gift certificates for local friends who have let me know they loved it as well! I recommend Cafe 72, however, don't tell too many people - it's a small place, and for now, not a long wait to get a seat. :) PS - don't forget, bring a bottle of your favorite wine, it's a BYO. read more

An unassuming curb appeal place that is immediately warm and inviting once you walk through the front door. This is an established breakfast and lunch place with the locals, and no wonder. I had super-delicious pecan french toast and Emily had the banana pancakes. She really loved them, and that's saying alot coming from a true flapjack snob. The waitress we had major attitude she really seems like she hated her job and her life and everyone that surrounded her. It's pretty sad such a nice spot and its ruined by their service. I was pretty excited about this place based on the Yelp reviews and LivingSocial deal. The food here is decent. I got the crab cake benedict and it was flavorful and the hollandaise sauce wasn't too heavy even when I forgot to ask for it on the side. The BF got the crab omelette which consist of a egg white omelet which was a bit bland, but I liked it since I am currently into healthy foods recently. The potatoes that come with the dishes were ehhh, just plain. I also got the orange juice which was yummy, but nothing too different than Tropicana OJ. We also got a side of the corned beef hash, and compared to others, this had way too much potatoes. I barely tasted any corned beef. The main reason for the two stars is the service or lack of. After placing our order, we barely saw our waitress again. We never received utensils or napkins and had to flag down another person to help us after watching our waitress walk back and forth. I understand when things can be busy, but it just didn't seem very organized here. A table who sat down next to us was approached twice to take drink orders literally 30 seconds after the first waitress came and took the order. I also witness them having to flag someone down to ask where their meals were because it took that long. And when they came out with them, they came out with the wrong meals! That couple must've been on a first date or something, because they were very patient and laughed it off. Unlike for us, when the BF is irritated, he can become a crabby patty. and when crabby patty is out, it's never a good time. We were driving through this town to go check out a shore point we hadn't been to yet. Using my favorite road trip food seeking app, and in need of good food, to Yelp! I went! We chose this place as it was almost directly on our route. We checked in, were given a flasher and told '25' minutes wait. The hostess was pretty much right on, and we waited outside to be called. It is rather tight trying to wait inside, and it was a gorgeous day. What I didn't realize... they have a bad yellow jacket bee problem out front. It was very bad. Hopefully they will step up the efforts to address this as it was a major problem for everyone outside waiting. Finally I had to get away from them so we went in to check on our wait status, we were coming up shortly so we stayed inside. We were seated in a comfortable booth, ordered our drinks and checked out the menu. This place, especially for being small... has one of the most impressive and varied menus I have ever seen. To anyone that says 'breakfast is breakfast' I say.... dare to compare !! This place was outstanding ! We both decided on Benedict's, mine was the classic, my husband got the corned beef hash Benedict. We love the option given to add sautéed peppers and onions to the home fries.... we both said yes to that and were very happy that we did! All in all, amazing spot! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cafe 72 with friends and family. I felt immediately right at home the minute I walked through the doors. The new owners are very down to earth and super nice guys. It is a small, quaint place with seating for approximately 60 people. It is BYOB, so we started off relaxing with a nice bottle of wine. The staff was quick to assist and were there within minutes with a bucket to keep the bottle chilled. The food was phenominal!! We all ordered something different and sampled a little of each others. I had the italian chicken which was wonderful! The crab cake, chicken parm and italian meatloaf dishes are equally as good. My compliments to the chef!! I will definitely be a returning customer, but next time I would like to try breakfast as that is my favorite meal of the day. Hurry up, what are you waiting for??? Everyone needs to come here. There is almost always a line, but it's worth it. The great thing is that there are plenty of seats to wait in, and there is coffee and water offered. Once in, you MUST try the lemon ricotta doughnuts. They fill the café and surrounding area with a sweet smell of yummy goodness. I have never had a bad thing here. The menu has a lot of specials that change regularly, but there are classic staples as well. My favorites have been: pineapple coconut pancakes, pulled pork benedict, and the cheese grits. The chef behind the menu items has an amazing palette. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you are getting. Portions are generous as well. Minus one star for being a breakfast place with coffee that is not good. I like Starbucks-style coffees (dark, rich and hearty) my wife likes dunkin donuts style coffees (light, mild, sweet). Wow! A great gem tucked away in Ewing. I have been following Cafe Seventy Two on IG for months and drool over any and every photo that is posted. I finally had a chance to dine here for a friend's birthday brunch. As any true Yelper, I did my research ahead of time. I reviewed the menu and pics on Yelp, but that only made my decision worse. I figured I would finalize my options on site. Just shy from picking out of a hat settled on the morning pancakes. The pancakes were not too sweet, which is what I wanted. I also got a side of home fries that could probably feed at least 4 people. Our table also shared an order of the lemon ricotta doughnuts with blueberry compote. My mouth is actually watering as I think about it. It was delicious and fluffy. All of the food my friends ordered were not only visually appealing, but also earned some "yum" and "so good". This place is BYO so bring some bubbly to get in on the mimosa action. I recommend making reservations as this is a popular place. There are tables, chairs and free coffee available outside while you wait. Only open for breakfast and dinner. Since my wife had a great brunch here almost 2 years back, I reserved a spot on Mothers Day for my extended family. The place was packed understandably and yet well organized. Front desk was welcoming, our waitress was nice and efficient. Love their coffee and cappuccino. Yes, I had to say that. Strong, tasty and not acidic coffee. We ordered artichoke omelette (delicious), classic benny (eggs benedict), waffle and chicken fries, veggie omelette, quesadillas and veggie sandwich. Recommend the artichoke omelette, bennies, waffle and chicken fries (with maple syrup) for sure. This is a good eatery. Also if you are with a group, there is a bocce court outside for a lively time. I am a huge fan of this place and it's definitely due in large part to the wait staff. Everyone who works here is amazing! I was a waitress/bartender for 10 years and I completely understand how stressful this business can be. Everyone who has every waited on me is so nice and very accommodating especially because I can't have gluten. I tend to ask for some modifications because there are things I can't eat (and please don't make me gag down an egg white). The regular menu is great as are the specials. I can't finish half of what I order which makes for a great breakfast the next day. I think the coffee is great although I can't drink one of the specialty coffees because it's just too much with the food. Unlike other posters, I don't get put off by the uncharge for certain things because again, I was in the business. I do tend to come at off peak hours because I like to relax a little. The breakfast bowl, the omelettes and the corned beef hash are some of my favorites. Again, the staff is excellent. They are starting to learn my name, I come in so much (face palm).
