I was introduced to Cafe Ragazzi by my ex back in 06 and absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere, the food the wine and everything about the restaurant. From that point on every year for my birthday I requested my celebration there just for the food, wine and atmosphere alone. I've slacked off the last few years, but this year, I'm headed back. I have never had a plate that I was disappointed in at Cafe Ragazzi. Many places claim authenticity, but the food is average and you end up leaving with an average feeling of satisfaction. I can say without a doubt each and every time I've visited Cafe Ragazzi its been stellar to the end. Its worth me flying 2.5 hours on a plane to Miami, catching a cab to head there again. read more

Great food and atmosphere!!! Was invited there by a friend and I must say he picked the right place!!! loved it!!!

I love the place. I have been going there since it was half the size and have never had a bad meal. We always make a point to go there on every trip we make to Miami. We have introduced many of our friends to Ragazzi and they have loved it to. The highlight of my meal is to order the Veal Chop stuffed with mozzarella cheese and prosciutto in a sun dried tomato reduction. The papardelle porcini with truffle oil is out of this world. I have never tasted anything like it. The veal parmesan is also outstanding. All the portions are huge. The staff are very friendly and will accommodate any request. Enjoy!! read more

Best Itialian in all of Miami Beach. It is very cold in the restaurant so bring a sweater.

Amazing Italian restaurant! Love the Ossobuco and the pappardelle porcini.. a must go restaurant

super friendly and attentive staff; wonderful for everything from a date to larger family gatherings. a little sad that they took my favorite salad off the menu, but they're good about making it/making food by request. delicious, always. and the tomatoes and bread they serve before meals are AMAZING. i don't eat meat but i know from family/friends that i've taken here that the veal and chicken parm are delicious read more

This small hidden place in Surfside Florida offers some of the best tasting Italian food I have enjoyed. The soups, the lasagnas, the pastas and the desserts are deliciuos. If your in the mood for something traditional with that great taste this is the place. Try the pears and wine dessert!!!! Its Out of this world! read more

Many years ago I went here often with family for lunch on the weekend. I live farther away now, but I usually still bring my out of state guests to this restaurant for dinner. The food is great, and the service, too. Nobody has ever complained! By the way: the Tiramisu is to die for! read more

The place was disappointing. Ordered the mussels in red base sauce and were not fresh at all. The pastas were okay but nothing to brag about. read more

My family has been coming to Ragazzi since it opened decades ago. It's sad to see such an awesome establishment deteriorate into a complete ripoff. We went there for New Year's Eve and were blindsided by a $100 set menu even though we were told in advance it would be ala carte. The manager did not seem to care that we specifically chose Ragazzi because it didn't have a fixed menu. We unfortunately had to stay because every other restaurant was booked and i would have felt bad leaving a half empty restaurant on the biggest night of the year. The set menu, which was printed from an office printer, included one appetizer and one entree (no dessert or champagne). It was uncomfortable from the very beginning as the waitress hurried us to order so she could turn more tables. She lied and said that the dishes take a while but they came out very quickly, what a surprise! By the end of the night, the restaurant never even reached 75% capacity. Half of our group ordered meatballs for an appetizer and we were surprised to see that it included a dozen small pre-made frozen meatballs out of a bag. I honesty think the manager picked up a cart full of them from Ikea earlier that day. We ended up taking home at least 30 extra meatballs and aren't sure what to do with them.. hopefully our dogs enjoy overpriced Italian garbage more than I do. By the time we received our giant entrees, I was too stuffed with generic meatballs to even enjoy the pasta. It became clear the restaurant was trying to rationalize the exorbitant price with unreasonably large serving sizes that ultimately made me feel wasteful. It was going poorly so we turned our attention to alcohol and desserts at this point. When the chocolate mousse came it had the consistency of chocolate milk and the waitress laughed along with us as is it dripped from my spoon. She was laughing less at the liquid mousse and more at the fact that we had just spent $1200 for an experience that was so bad its forever enshrined in my memory. I would certainly recommend this place if you are a culinary masochist looking to dispose of a few hundred dollars. We will not be going back next year and neither will anyone because it will likely be closed down by then. read more

I recently went to Cafe Ragazzi for dinner. As a new customer, I had high expectations. Everyone told me how amazing this place is and when I went I was super disappointed. I called a couple days before to make a reservation and they told me that 7:00 was the only time they had available for that day but when I got there the place was practically empty. I ordered the parpadelle porchini because it was supposedly "the best dish" and "i had to try it" "its worth $28". The sauce was super salty and the mushrooms were not fresh at all, it seems as if they were from a can. I forced myself to eat the entire thing because it was almost $30 and I was not going to waste. Later we ordered the Tiramisu, which was amazing! Best part of the night. Later the waiter took FOREVER to get our checks and FOREVER to collect them after we were ready to pay. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here any time soon. read more

Having been to this restaurant 9 years ago on my honeymoon and declaring this the best Italian food I've ever experienced, I was elated that I once again found myself at Cafe Ragazzi. I'm sorry to say that the wait was a better experience than the food this time around. My wife and I ordered the exact same thing as we had on our honeymoon along with a few apps to try something new. Lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs for main entrees to be exact, which I consider to be staples of any Italian establishment. To describe the food that we received I would be lying if I didn't suspect it was microwaved as my wife's lasagna came out lava hot on the edges and stone cold in the middle. The taste was also lacking in the lasagna which was left unfinished. On to the meatballs which should be packed full of awesomeness but what I received resembled dry tumbleweed with some decent spaghetti and red sauce. To end on a positive note, the wait staff was excellent and attentive to any needs other than the quality of our meals. read more

I was not overly impressed with Cafe Ragazzi. Surfside has and has always been droll comparatively to its sister Bal harbour just feet away. With street parking we encountered master meters that did not work and had to move our car to a municipal lot where we could pay for parking which is monitored 24/7. As for the restaurant the service was very attentive but than again there were only 4 tables in the restaurant the evening that we went. On our visit we had the fried calamari to start along with the special of the evening of Osso Buco and also scallops of veal in a piccatta sauce. Overall I would have to say I was unimpressed with Cafe Ragazzi. The menu offered nothing beyond that standard Italian menu items that could be had anywhere else in South Florida. There was no particular menu item or aspect of the restaurant that presented a draw to the restaurant to justify a special trip or go out of the way over to Surfside. As for the food I was equally unimpressed. The Osso Buco was stringy and still had bay leaves in the sauce while served on a bed of risotto that left an unappealing after taste in the mouth. When you pay $43.95 for an entree a diner should not be expected to pick elements out of their food. The scallops of veal were tough and leather-like an uncharacteristic element of veal which if prepared correctly will be tender and have a mild flavor. The fried calamari that we had to start was served with a marinara sauce reminiscent of those to be had off the shelf from any supermarket. Would I recommend Cafe Regazzi? I would say simply No. There are equivalent Italian options at much more reasonable prices to be found or far better options in the same price point. I will however state that the service was very good so a careful selection on the menu might procure a satisfying result here but it is definitely not a place I would go out of my way to visit. read more

Going to this resturaunt I had high expectations. Although it was a pleasant surprise to be welcomed by one of the workers there by having the door held open for me, it seemed my experience after that wasn't geat. While the rest of my family was ordering interesting pasta dishes. I settled for a SIMPLE pizza. Once I got my food I was simply dumbfounded by how simple it looked. It was simply cheese on bread. I thought to myself it was just a pizza and surly other members of my family were happy with their meals. However I found this to not be true. I am not going to go into details of my experience during this meal I just hope people know that the atmosphere of this resturaunt is average; but I also want people to know to not get their hopes up for a good Italian meal. I hope the best for this resturaunt in the future, but to put it in a few words I was highly disappointed. read more

Sooooo good. Probably my favorite restaurant in Miami. The bread and tomatoes and AMAZING. Caesar salad is perfect, and the pasta bolognese is one of the best. My husband loves the osso bucco. Oh, and the lemon chicken is my new favorite dish. Wait staff is great, the place is bustling and the atmosphere is lively. Not crazy expensive either. And if there's a line, the owner will give you a glass of wine to keep you patient. read more

We discovered this restaurant on a morning walk. It was a short walk from our hotel and after review of their menu we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We started off with a couple vodka martinis that were perfectly made. We followed that with a sizable Caesars salad topped with fresh Parmesan cheese and anchovies. The special was a grouper piccata with pasta in a light wine sauce with capers. It was a generous portion. The fish was delicious. Light, flaky and sweet. My wife had a crab stuffed ravioli in some sort of orange sauce that was delicious. It was a dinner special. The desserts looked great but unfortunately we were both stuffed from the entre and could not enjoy their desserts. I recommend this place. The atmosphere is great. It has a neighborhood feel to it. The service was fantastic from the minute you walk in to when you leave. You will be taken care of during your visit here. The management greets each table and makes sure you're doing well. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Miami. read more

We chose this restaurant for a few reasons. The first reason being that we saw in the "bringfido"app that our small dog would be welcomed. Second reason being we love Italian and they serve stuffed artichokes which few restaurants serve and third being another yelp reviewer stated that between 12 and 6 pm the menu is 30 percent off and the drinks are 50 percent off. The stuffed artichoke was amazing. My pasta carbonara was very good as was my husband's chicken parm although it was slightly greasy. The bread and chopped tomatoes in olive oil they serve is also very good. My husband asked for a side of pasta as opposed to the veges his dish came with and I asked for a small side of spinach. Each of those sides we were charged 8 dollars each. Pasta is cheap, chicken parm should come with a side of pasta. i also had one glass of house wine and my husband had an ice tea and cappuccino. We dined at 1 p.m. and there was no discount of 30 percent off menu and 50 percent off drink. In fact, we were charged 23 dollars for the chicken parm as opposed to the 22 dollars listed on the menu via yelp link. I find lunch for two totaling 97.01 pre tip is very pricey. We would not visit again as there are numberous excellant resturants that offer better value and welcome our 2 pound yorkie thats stays in her bag read more

We had dinner on a Saturday night. The evening started off well with the server explaining the menu etc, but it quickly went downhill from there. When we received the food, I had order the day's special, the grouper. It wasn't fresh at all and then the server disappeared never to be found again. No one refilled the water or wine glasses, no one asked if the food was to our liking, etc. At the end of the evening we had to ask several servers to get someone because we wanted dessert... it was like pulling teeth, no one wanted to help. We finally decided to have dessert elsewhere. We will not be returning. read more

There was nothing considerable wrong (or right) with this place. Went there on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded. They have a make shift host stand that is in the way once you enter. Perhaps if they had less tables in the restaurant and they moved the stand back, the entrance wouldn't feel as packed and awkward. Although the restaurant is a decent size, it feels like they just have way too many tables. Décor is quite nice, though. The food was just average. To start, they bring a bread basket with a small serving of bruschetta. It was a bit too garlicky and the bead wasn't warm. For a restaurant charging $20+ for entrees, I expect warm bread. Our waiter offered us wine but, interestingly enough, we weren't shown the wine list (bottles or by the glass). Instead, the waiter called out the available wines by the glass after we told him we wanted red (cab, merlot, malbec, chianti). I settled for the chianti and my friend got the malbec. Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the night happened next. We were served our wine in awful stemware (like the kind you get if you are one of those people ordering wine at a sports bar). Needless to say the glasses looked cheap and were way to small, so the wine was served almost to the rim. Some people may like this (it looks like you are getting more wine), but I am not one of those people. Again, if I am paying for a nicer restaurant, I expect nicer stemware. We ordered the calamari to start, which came with some pieces of zucchini (but it was mostly calamari). It was a very generous portion. They were good (not chewy), but didn't stand out from any other calamari I've had. For our entrée, my friend and I split the pear and gorgonzola pizza. I was skeptical about it because gorgonzola tends to be too overwhelming and I wasn't wrong. There weren't enough pears to offset the pungent taste of the cheese and after a couple of slices, I was done with it and done with the meal (we didn't order dessert). Service was rather attentive at the beginning and lacking towards the end. I had an empty water glass for quite some time. Again, minor details but, to me, those count when you want to stand out. I don't think I'll be back, but it wasn't a bad experience either. read more

FOOD POISONING, DON'T GO THERE!!! We went there last night, paid up for dinner and ended up with serious food poisoning. I threw up the entire dinner two hours later and my husband spent half the night in the bathroom. We went back to talk to the management today and they told my husband that it is the owner's policy not to do anyything about it because we could be lying to them (they did not even care about hospital bills proving food poisoning). I am pregnant and was very concerned about the food poisoning and never thought that an expensive place like this one would accuse us of being scammers. I enjoy eating out and don't mind spending money on restaurants, but I can't believe that a place like this one would have such weird policy and low regard for its customers! read more

Very good meal. I loved the chicken Parmesan and mushroom risotto. So flavorful! It is a very small place, so make sure to make a reservation. The only negative is that there seems to be too many tables squished into the space. But, the food is worth it! read more

Where do I begin.... we went with another couple. We ordered the same dish. Veal milanses that comes with argula salad on top. We asked our waiter what was INCLUDED with the dish he said pasta or broccoli and potatoe. We ordered broccoli our friends ordered pasta. We ordered salads they came out fast! Our entrees took a very long time. When they came our veal was over cooked almost burnt and dry. We got the argula salad on top of ours. Our friends didn't get salad but got pasta on their plates. No broccoli or potatoes. Called the waiter over to ask were the broccoli was he said it didn't come with it. Our friends salad was not on the plate just the pasta. The salad is part of the dish. He brings them a salad. They bring us the bill and didn't ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert. We look at the bill. They charged us for the salad that comes with the meal that they bought separately. Called the manger over. He offers us dessert and coffee. We thought the bill was taken care of and started to get up and leave and they run over to present us with a bill. Look st the bill and they took off the salad they charged us for that they shouldn't of to begin with but also just took off $20. Wow!!!! Great business people!!! Well that somes up this review. Never have I reviewed a restaurant on yelp. Or anywhere but this worth it. read more

Part of the appeal of this place is that it's always busy-couples, business attire types, groups of 20 somethings, families, all across the board. And whether you have to wait or not, everyone seems pleased. The food is good, caprese salad has nice thick slabs of tomato and mozzarella, but simple. No fancy extras or pizzazz. Saltimboca and bolognese are the same. tasty, but not standouts. Dessert, chocolate mousse was very good, as was the zabaglione, and generously sized. Pleasant, attentive service. $100 for that meal with 2 glasses of wine, not overly expensive, right on target. Overall, would go back. read more

This was the third time I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Ragazzi in Surfside. As always, the service impeccable and the food amazingly delicious. For starters we had the burrata, which is a cream-filled pouch completely made of mozzarella. So creamy and fresh I wouldn't doubt if it was made in house. We also had the chefs selection of cold appetizers (salumeria). It came with Prosciutto di Parma, goat cheese, mozzarella, and chilled roasted red bell peppers with an Italian herb seasoning that was very tasty. For the main course I tried the Veal Valdostana. This is a bone-in veal chop that is stuffed with prosciutto and fontina and then grilled and baked to perfection. It was absolutely delectable. The way that the cheese oozed out of the perfectly prepared veal and rested on top of the demi glaze sauce tantalized my taste buds but when I finally cut a perfect piece with the veal, prosciutto, and cheese and took my first taste I was in gastro heaven. The only thing better was the company I was with. We had such a great time that we were the last ones in the restaurant. But even though we were there for quite a while after the restaurant had closed for the evening we were not rushed out in any way. The wait staff waited very patiently until we were ready to leave. Since this is my first yelp review I will make the staff at Cafe Ragazzi my reference standard for all my subsequent reviews. I challenge all other dining establishments to make me rethink my decision. Cafe Ragazzi is my choice for authentic fine Italian Cuisine in North Beach. read more

What a nice little cafe style restaurant! The environment was a little too mainstream for me, but my friend from tennis and I had a good chat and a good meal! They could do a little with the lighting and styling of this place, and it could be really romantic and quaint. I had chicken francese, and I do love the classic dishes, and this one was very good! They did theirs only with white wine which was a nice surprise for me as I usually hit it with a little lemon as well. The only thing was the rest of the meal was just, ah, quite okay. They served "bruschetta" at no charge--and I didn't say say bruschetta--because the bread was not toasted. Or, maybe it's just bread and a tomato salad for it? It just didn't seem Italian to me. I asked for butter, and he brought it right out (their oil did not look of high quality, so I knew not to ask). The waiter was so nice! Why don't I meet more people like that? I expected a snippy waiter on account of the location. I may give this another try at some point and it may go up to 4! read more

I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is good. However, tonight I was turned away...told there were no tables available. When I asked to sit at the bar, I was told the "bar was full," and it was suggested that I leave and come another night. My husband, who was putting money in our parking meter, went in five minutes later and was told he could be seated in "just a few minutes". My husband is dark skinned, dark eyed, South American looking which apparently works in south florida. When I joined him at the bar, I asked the host why I was told there was no table but my husband was offered to be seated right away. The host was visibly uncomfortable and made no apology. As we had our meal at a table near the front door, a pattern emerged. Every hispanic that came in was seated immediately. Foreigners or non-hispanics were told that there was no room. This is clearly a restaurant using racial profiling for seating preference. It is despicable. I will never go back to this restaurant again. It does not matter to me how good the food is. Patrons should not be turned away based on nationality or language. I urge you all not to patronize this restaurant!! read more

We have been going here a few times each year for the past 3 years, and until recently we would have given them 4 stars: good food, good service, a bit pricey for what it is. When we went there yesterday, things had changed. It was announced as a change of menu, which we immediately noticed: our favourites, mussels and lasagne, were both no longer available! We do think more changed. The service was still friendly, but much slower than before: they forgot about our wine (but apologized, no problem), dessert took forever, it took longer than before to bring the bread etc. etc. The place wasn't very busy, so that can not have been the reason. My wife had linguini with vongole, which was good but not spectacular for the price. I had veal with mushroom marsala sauce. The taste of the veal and sauce itself was really good. The roasted potatoes consisted of actually one potato - but it was good, and the vegetables were overcooked. We shared a strawberry zabaglione, an all time favourite there, to conclude it was a far cry from what it used to be. This, in all honesty, made the impression it was strawberry infused whipped cream. We'll give them another chance, and just hope yesterday they were a bit out of shape. read more
