Appetizers lined up with the 5-choice, $60 cheese board in the middle
Shamila

I went there with a reservation for my birthday. At first the service was iffy while me and my partner waited for my other family members, since the server didn't come over at all even after my family DID arrive. We were kinda waiting to see what would happen till one of us went up to him to ask what's going on. The place was empty too which made it even weirder, but then our server came over and was kind and had honest suggestions. This kind of place was new to me and I loved the concept of paying little for bits of wine to try it. The cheese board was also really cool as i had never seen a list of cheeses that varied, but that was really expensive with each small sample of cheese costing $12 (sold as 3 cheese samples for $36, 5 for $60) and it came with some fruit slices, jam, honey, crackers, and mini bread slices. we also got 3 appetizers which were pretty expensive for the size. It was cool to have so many choices to try, the taste of most of the food was great, but the price was not very cool. On the other hand it IS a kosher place so i guess that ups the price of what's sold there. I recommend it for the wine, but the food is overpriced and snack sized. Ordering the cheese board will make you feel very bougie trying fancy cheeses.

What an incredible evening! This wine bar is an absolute gem. We had so much fun exploring an amazing variety of wines--each one unique and so thoughtfully chosen. It felt like a true tasting adventure! The food was equally impressive--creative, flavorful, and far from your typical kosher dairy menu. Every dish had a special twist that made it exciting and memorable. On top of that, the cozy and charming atmosphere made the night feel warm and intimate, the perfect setting for great conversation and amazing wine. Can't wait to come back!

Really enjoyed the experience at Barrel Wine and Cheese. They had a great cocktail menu, including spritz. Great cheese platter.

Wine machine with different wines to choose from (there are also other wine stations with rose and white wines)

Ambience 10/10 what a perfect date night out. Atmosphere is so romantic and a step back in time. The cheeseboards have so many options customizable to your own cheese preferences. Grab a wine glass, insert the wine card and sip your favorite wines or try some new ones.

It's tucked away in the inner corner of a strip mall, but it is very popular and you better have reservations on weekends. Our Server, Daniil, did an outstanding job with recommendations, hospitality, and professionalism. I ordered all appetizers and they were great choices: Roasted Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, and Grilled Artichokes were delicious. Each were nicely presented and going between all three provided different pleasant textures and freshness with every bite. The next selection was the Grilled Branzino. A piece of Branzino that was delectable, didn't require a knife, and the added diced tomatoes and cauliflower just made this dish memorable. The final item was the Penne Pasta. Al dente, had the perfect amount of tomatoes and cheese, and the portion was large. We finished the meal with scoops of vanilla gelato and it was the perfect cap to a delightful meal at a recommended restaurant.

We had reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. They have a tree in the middle that gives it an outdoor open feel. And an incredible wine display in the back. Our waitress, from Portugal, did a great job of explaining the menu to us and guiding us on what to order. We started off with the Bolinhos de Bacalhau which are cod fritters and OMG they were sooo good! These tasted identical to the ones we've eaten in Lisbon. It comes with the classic pairing of black eyed peas which are awesome when eaten together. We also tried the Chouriço Assado which the presentation when its brought to the table is a treat itself. It comes out on a flaming pig and then its sliced tableside. Our waitress recommended trying the chorizo with the piri piri sauce which is slightly spicy and it was delicious. It added another layer of flavor. For entree we got the Paelha Marinheira which was absolutely amazing. First off, its a huge portion and comes piping hot. Each bite was full of seafood. We added the lobster which was perfection. It's great to share between 2 people. For dessert we ended with the pasteis de nata and its great because it brings 2 pastries and we paired it with ice cream. It makes for the perfect sweet treat without being too much. The pasteis de nata is served slightly warm and is perfect with the cool ice cream. Overall great restaurant for some Portuguese cuisine.

I had the seafood stew, which was hearty and full of mussels, fish, clams, white beans, and other seafood. Side rice was just ok. My mom enjoyed her salmon and vegetables, which included eggplant. For dessert, I had to get the famous dessert of Portugal, pastel de nata, which is a mini egg custard tart. It tasted wonderful, but was different from the traditional pastel de nata because it had cinnamon and powdered sugar on top, and personally I like the traditional plain version better. My port (sweet wine) was a delicious accompaniment. Service was very attentive. Interior is small and cozy. Plenty of parking.

They close for a couple months during each summer as well so check to make sure they are open before going. Really glad I finally stopped in for a meal and will definitely be back! We tried the escargot and 2 orders of mussels- curry and white wine. Both orders of the mussels were great with the curry being the stand out of the two. The white wine was more mild in flavor, but you can't go wrong with either of these. Each order of mussels came with fries and a glass of wine or beer. The fries were cooked and paired perfectly with the mussels/sauce. Mussels were high quality and very fresh. Also, I really enjoyed the Leffe beer that I tried and was included with one of the mussels orders. The mussels were definitely a large portion that could easily be shared. Will be going back to order more mussels in the future! The Escargot was phenomenal. Highly recommend this to anyone stopping in to eat. The ambiance was very intimate- dimly lit, white table cloth, and overall cozy. It did feel a bit like being in Europe with the table next to us all speaking French. The service was also a highlight- Our server was great and made our dining experience feel very relaxed with no rush at all and providing recommendations. This would be a great date night spot or place to catch up with friends or family over food/drinks. Looking forward to returning!

I REALLY wanted to try the Fettuccine a la Routa - where they make the fettuccine tableside in a cheese wheel. It wasn't being served on Christmas Eve as they "were too busy." Even at 8:00 pm, the restaurant was only half full. So that was disappointing. The website also says it's based on Sicilian Italian food. So to support Sicily, I wanted to have a Sicilian wine. Unfortunately, they only offer one bottle and none by the glass. So that was disappointing. Another of us wanted a clams appetizer. No. So that was disappointing. I ended up ordering a branzino livornese which was perfectly cooked. The sides - not pasta. Asparagus and mashed potatoes - again perfectly cooked - but I wanted pasta. So that was half disappointing. The bread - DE LISH!!! The butter, however, was way too cold and tore the bread apart. So that was disappointing. My bill - $75 (and they already include the tip) for bufala mozzarella appetizer (which was SO GOOD!!), branzino and a Negroni. WAY over-priced in my opinion. It should have topped out at $60. On the plus side, the service could not have been better, and a beautiful wooden / metal horse greets you - and it is a FANTASTIC piece of art!! I'm returning to Capriccio's.
